Welcome to the United States of Orwell, Part 1: Our One Last Chance to Preserve the Bill of Rights
This Congress and President Obama have shredded the Bill of Rights. We have one last chance to restore the Founding Fathers' bastion against a rogue Central State: the Bill of Rights.
"Everything that Richard Nixon did to me, for which he faced impeachment and prosecution, which led to his resignation, is now legal under the Patriot Act, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)." Daniel Ellsberg. Can Congress legalize tyranny by passing a law that says it can? Can Congress shred the Bill of Rights by passing a law that says it can? Well, Congress has passed such a law, and President Obama--the most effective Trojan Horse president in American history, a plutocrat dressed as a "progressive"-- rushed to sign it on New Years Eve 2011 when nobody was looking.
This is not a partisan issue, though various flaks and toadies are attempting to make it so. Here is how the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) describes the NDAA: Indefinite Detention, Endless Worldwide War and the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.
He signed it. We'll fight it. President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. It contains a sweeping worldwide indefinite detention provision. The dangerous new law can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield. He signed it. Now, we have to fight it wherever we can and for as long as it takes.
Here is a discussion of the two key sections of the act: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (Wikipedia)
The problem that all the congressional supporters of the NDAA don't seem to get is that the difference between a dissenter and a "belligerent" is in the eye of the beholder. This is why the Founding Fathers guaranteed civil liberties against the power of the Central State. Now those guarantees have been overthrown by the pursuit of endless war against an ill-defined threat by a congressional act that no military or law-enforcement agency requested: this is 100% politico-instigated.
We have one last chance to restore at least a part of the Bill of Rights. Some members of Congress awakened from their fund-raising somnambulance and proposed the Due Process Guarantee Act which would restore the Bill of Rights to its proper place in US law.
So do one thing today for the nation and its liberties: contact your representative and senators to press them to support this bill. Ask them which military or law enforcement agencies requested that Congress nullify the Bill of Rights with the NDAA. Advise them to do the correct thing for once in their sordid little careers and vote for the Due Process Guarantee Act.
This page lists other articles about the NDAA and also provides links to find your representative and Senators: It's treason. Call it what it is.
The only presidential candidate who has vowed to axe the NDAA provisions is Ron Paul. If you support any other candidate, ask why they are supporting the gutting of the Bill of Rights under the Orwellian umbrella of GWOT (global war on terror).

Dick-Tater in Chief. fixed.. See, he is ruling by decree at this point.
A theory/equation of liberty:
L = E * R - G
where L is Liberty
E = Education, measured by % graduating high school
R = Responsbility, measured as voter participation rate
G = Government, measured as % of GDP
A positive result is sustainable. A negative result is not.
Looks interesting. Can you do a sample calc?
Certainatly, The higher the population, the more money that can be issued as debt.. Did I say that out loud?
-Debt is prosperity, still haven't figured out that Keynesian rubics cube yet though?
Sen.Chuck Schumer is callingon the JUSTICE DEPT to investigate "Stand Your Ground Laws".You see dear people, anything that has a real benifit to the masses without gubbermint/elite power control is a no no.Forget it,not gonna happen and it's full steam ahead.
The Constitution ... Nice sentiment. I remember swearing to uphold, protect and defend it, but I do not recall anyone telling us what that meant. Do you think that state of affairs has improved in the last 20 years?

Men of conscience should not get involved in the law enforcement/intelligence arm of the American police state. Inevitably there will be a moral conflict, and following your conscience only invites brutalization by the American police state.
Look at Bradley Manning. I've never met a cop or government employee that didn't think he should be tortured to death for treason.
Americans that owe their livelihood to the police state are its most ardent supporters. They are rallying around their police state, willing to murder and brutalize any who oppose them.
I'm just surprised none of those deluded OWS kids haven't been killed yet. Probably this summer.
Law enforcement tends to self-select people
who have a propensity to impose morals by
force upon others.
It's a constant struggle to keep only to the aggregated
morals of the body politic, ie the law, and not transgress
into enforcing their own private vigilantist system.
"The collapse of a government is the sin of its leaders and rulers. The collapse of democratic rule is the sin of all its citizens." - Admiral Bucock
I don't consider the U.S. to be a Democratic country in anything but name. Winner take all politics is largely to blame because it shuts out third parties and ensures the dominance of the Republicrats and their single party rule.
Further, the elections are probably rigged and these closed source voting machines are a complete farce.
The U.S. government is only slightly more Democratic than that of Greece. Do you believe the government of Greece is representing the interests of the Greek people?
And do you think your elected Represenatives on the Hill represent we the People? No, that's not their job anymore, they work 100% for the Government now, not us, so don't get it twisted.
They are just the liasons between us and the Govt. that's gone off the rails with special interests. When Obama care passes, you will realize I'm right.
Our freedom has been under siege for some time.

One of our esteemed congressional representatives said, when asked about TARP “We are not a Democratic form of government, but a representative form of government. I believe my vote represents what they should support”. I don’t remember the exact quote or who said it, but was struck cold by what he said.
"government the entertainment branch of the military industrial complex"

Correct, but when was the last time you saw a Bill passed to legally assasinate Americans? Hhmmm?
EO March 16 takes control of all national infrastructure and resources at war or in peacetime for America to be considered a "Battlefeild" Hhmm?
NDAA S1867 language is in the Bill as I have just mentioned above. I say brign it, others say Mercy. I dunno?
Clears indefinate detention for American citizens to be held either domestically or abroad? Gitmo for example.
isn't "legal" just a formality? Happens anyway?
""Everything that Richard Nixon did to me, for which he faced impeachment and prosecution, which led to his resignation, is now legal under the Patriot Act, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)." Daniel Ellsberg. Can Congress legalize tyranny by passing a law that says it can?"
Yes, they can. Acting within the law is very important to these people. So long as they have the law on their side, notions of morality and what's "right" mean nothing. After all, they want to think of themselves as the "good guys." So when the law conflicts with their desired course of action then it is obvious to them that the law is wrong and must be changed.
I have also been victimized by the surveillance based American police state. That is one main motivator in my pending flight from this fascist police state. I was naive about its reach. I thought if you did nothing wrong you had nothing to worry about. I thought the Bill of Rights still existed. I thought you had to bring attention to yourself and have a warrant/investigation launched. I thought we enjoyed freedom of speech.
I was wrong. The surveillance based police state in America is total. Everyone's telecommunications activity is being intercepted, parsed, data mined, and profiled at all times. That is the state of affairs in post-constitutional America. Now I use TOR over wireless connections I do not own. If someone wants to figure out who I am and intercept my free speech they will have to go to some effort to do so.
Ron Paul was our last chance to save liberty in the United States. And that hope has failed. So now it's time to pack your bags and hit the road, to seek freedom overseas.
You speak for me, Marc. I'm packed and moved and have found a measure of freedom overseas I couldn't at "home." I'm not willing to put my family through what I would put a TSA "agent" through if they molested my daughter.
My point exactly. We need to DO something about this government which is our enemy.
There's a glaring fault in the above article. The Due Process Guarantee Act is utterly unnecesary. The Bill of Rights spells out inalienable rights. We still have these rights. No provision of neither NDAA, the Patriot Act nor any other legislation can take away anything that is spelled in the Bill of Rights. The key word here is "Rights" these are not priviledges that can be toyed with by a corrupt government. These rights where not bestowed by our government and therefore may not be taken by our government.
We must not be subjugated further by our corrupt government. The people still have the power. We need to demonstrate this fact to those who are our enemies whether foreign or domestic.
We need 1,000,000 in the streets this summer. Let Limbuagh et. al. label us what ever they think then need to label us for protesting our corrupt government. It matters not.
Hopefully you wake up and realize the Bill of Rights is no longer in effect in time to flee the fascist American police state before it's too late. We are living in post constitutional America.
Germany also had lots of fancy laws and statements and broad political phiosophies all the way through the end of WWII...didn't make it a fun place to live.
Yea, and the Soviet Union had one of the best constitutions in human history. On paper anyway.
"The constitution repealed restrictions on voting and added universal direct suffrage and the right to work to rights guaranteed by the previous constitution. In addition, the Constitution recognized collective social and economic rights including the rights to work, rest and leisure, health protection, care in old age and sickness, housing, education, and cultural benefits. The constitution also provided for the direct election of all government bodies and their reorganization into a single, uniform system. It was written by a special commission of 31 members of which Joseph Stalin chaired."
Gee, the Soviet constitution and "bill of rights" included everything ours does (except the 2nd amendment) PLUS it guaranteed a job, health care, education, leisure time, and a pension. Wowzers! I guess we should have all been scrambling to get into the USSR during the cold war then.
Oh wait, words on pieces of paper mean nothing. This is the point people need to understand - we are living in post constitutional America. The constitution and bill of rights are no longer in effect.
Unalienable, inalienable can be revoked.
The United States is a fascist police state. It is an aggressive military empire. Our brutal foreign policy is finally coming to the homeland. Our culture endears torture, murder, and brutality. There is little sympathy amongst the American people for their many victims, whether they are Muslims on the other side of the world or "law breakers" in the U.S. We love Jack Bauer and his power tool torture methods. The ends justify the means. And the audience cheers with approval! We pride ourselves on the fact that our prisoners are subject to rape and brutalization in our prison system. And if the other prisoners won't do it, our prison guards will.
The American people love their police state. They love their overlords. They cast scorn upon those who step out of line, and rejoice when they are hammered into the ground. Just look at the reaction to the crack down on the OWS protests - nearly unanimous rejoicing among the American people. "Nobody liked them commie faggot trouble makers no how."
These are not the abberant actions of a few rogue politicians who have stolen power in the night. All these things, the "war on terror", the NDAA, the USA PATRIOT Act, the SWAT raids, the surveillance society, etc. are reflections of American culture. You need to take a look in the mirror and realize that America's problems are endemic, going straight to the core. And there is no short term solution that you can bring about.
My solution is to flee the fascist police state known as the U.S. while I still can.
