"I Am Jim Rogers And I Support Ron Paul"

Tyler Durden's picture

Ron Paul has another illustrious supporter - Jim Rogers. The Quantum fund co-founder, who has been spot on about pretty much everything for the past 3 years (see Roubini Versus Rogers Is Right Debate for 2010: Investor Jim Rogers thinks gold will double to at least $2,000 an ounce. Economist Nouriel Roubini says that’s “utter nonsense.” As these well-known market personalities duke it out, they’re doing us a favor by highlighting a critical debate: Which is the bigger threat -- inflation or deflation?), not to mention gold (to the amusement of such Keynesian soundbites recorded for posterity as the following: "Maybe it will reach $1,100 or so but $1,500 or $2,000 is nonsense"), and especially inflation (perhaps the only thing that will prompt a chuckle out of Gadaffi and Mubarak these days is someone telling them that their multi-decade reigns are over due to hyperdeflation and plunging food prices), was caught on tape voicing his endorsement of the only sane person who can possibly do something for this country. "In this election if Ron Paul gets anywhere near the nomination I would certainly support him. He is the only one that I've seen in American politics that seems to have a clue about what's going on." Zero Hedge agrees on all counts.

Thanks MsC (and Janus),

Coming from a long-time fellow zherohead, that means a lot.  Seriously, how could you NOT like an anarcho-libertarian-homosexual who's a good poster (emphasis on posting since that's how anyone should be judged)?  That's a rare breed and just another thing that makes ZeroHedge the greatest experience on the internets.

Yes indeedy, my neo-con friend. I share your great fear for those fragile liberties we hold dear. We need more prisons run by private corporations, hiring American guards and consuming American products like stun guns and waterboards. I also fear for the private security firms deployed around the world, supported covertly like Blackwater. They're great Americans furthering the cause of freedom

The great thing about Ron Paul is that he has all the right enemies.  He is hated by communists, socialists, marxists, maoists, national socialists, neocons, Clintons, Obamas, Bushes, war mongers, facists, black racists, white racists, kenesians, to big to fail bankers, most of congress, and Rudolph Guliani.  He is loved by people who want to save America.

The coolest/strangest thing about a Ron Paul rally is the diversity- young and old, black and white and Asian and Hispanic, Jew and Christian and Muslim and Atheist, gay and straight, hippie and yuppie and veteran- all getting along, interacting and bonding over their shared love of liberty.

It's an amazing, uplifting thing to see.

So you believe that diverse crowds coming together to support a larger ideal is naive? I guess you prefer the young vs old, black vs white, gay vs straight, etc. identity politics of the ruling elite.

You are either strange, a tool, a fool, a moron, or a shit stirring asshole. I'm going with the latter.

BTW, it "naïveté" not naivity you wanker.

When someone like Arlo G.- who probably thought he would shoot himself in the head before voting Republican- explicitly endorses one, you know TPTB have got to be scared.

I don't see how anyone on ZH, the vast majority of whom recognize the rot at the center of our political and economic system, could not endorse RP. He's not perfect, and has positions that I disagree with, but overall he is the best chance for radically altering the status quo and restoring sanity to the country. He won't give in to the banksters and big corps, will end the wars, and will restore civil liberties- that's enough for me!

logic and my spidey sense tell me that we will most likely have hyperinflation particularly if preceded by an acute form of deflation, the ongoing deflation in housing notwithstanding.  the deflation i'm thinking of is of course the popping of the debt bubble previously forestalled.  many of the bank bonds (which make up most corporates), along with agencies and sovereigns must be marked down from fantasy to market-based reality.  so first the haircut, then we overpay the barber.

After reading some of Roubini's recent tweets I can come to the conclusion that he is one of the most immature water boys for the establishment that has ever existed in the soon to be extinct pseudo science of Keynesian Voodoo economics. His hatred of gold in the face of currency dilution globally proves he is either incompetent or complicit in attempts to garner some .GOV position or perhaps replace Bernanke as the next money printer.

What more would you expect from a clone of the white tip shoes club who has never had to create anything of value, owned a small business and was a mentor to Jeff Sachs. These parasites make their living off the continued thieving of the populations of the globe, are stamped "experts" on the economy yet spend their nights clubbing in the Meat Packing District or hanging in the Hampton's amongst the other folks who siphon of the production of others. Faber was right..all they know how to do is print and their false stamp of approval is somehow supposed to assauge the concerns of the peasantry who work for a living.

Yes Nouriel...How wonderful it would all be if we could carry around a mini money printer in our pockets everytime we got ourselves into trouble by not investing based on fundamentals but on how much we could get away with being socialized on the serfs. All of our problems would indeed be solved. This clown was tweeting, "Gold bugs are going to have a hard time in the hurricane carrying around their gold bars in exchange for food".

Well I am loaded with foodstuffs, water and beer right over in the West Village Nouriel so if at anytime you want to mosey down from Stern if you are feeling hungry and exchange a bar or a coin of gold or silver for food I will gladly accept with a 30% premium and you can keep your paper that only retains value so long as this government is in place for however many months, decades or centuries that will last but I assure you that same gold coin will still have value at that future date.

Amazed that people send their children to these 40k a year schools to hear indoctrination and not learning anything of substance about what made this nation great being the economic freedom we had which was unrivaled and clear proof that since deviating from that formula into the norm of central planning we have seen nothing but an erosion of our greatness.

I volunteered in Ron Pauls election in 2008 and became a state delegate. But we hit a brick wall with the Rebublican establishment and didn't get one Ron Paul delegate elected as a national delegate. They were hand picked by the GOP! I feel he would be good as president, but the medicine he would presribe to heal this country. Would be too painful for most. He would end up like JFK or a one term president like hopefully Barack Bin Ladin.

Neveda closed the convention down when they realized Ron Paul would sweep the national convention delegates, Minnesota same thing.Other states colorado etc etc etc.

I worked with people in Hawaii and they got to the state convention with votes and there were armed thugs preventing them from voting.

This time the RP organization is much more experienced and better financed.

As a former small cog in the Republican machine...and a Ron Paul supporter I have to tell you that the biggest problem was the consistent caustic nature of the RP supporters. It was like they were the high priests of the true political religion. Instead of trying to denounce and execute those with imperfect beliefs it is better to welcome those who are openminded and might come to your side. It takes quite awhile for someone to understand and grasp libertarian principles.

Having said that I will be donating money and time to his campaign.

hey, jay-dub!  i'll vouch for tyler too, most all of the time, and as a publisher, i guess he he can write anything that seems like a good idea, at the time

but, he didn't answer me, did he?  so, unless and until he wants to say whether he has the US voting franchise, or not, i'll give his "opinion of what is best for the USA" the same regard i would give to utterances of, say, the very highly repsected christine lagarde, or perhaps some german editorial writer. or moQadaffy.  i wonder who he likes, here?    but, sure, tyler's entiltled to his "opinion" even when the interests of the USA might not co-incide with the interests of his wunnerful, wunnerful website!

i stopped buying r.paul's bullshit during the "balanced budget amendement" response to the "budget ceiling" issue(s) in real time as we worked our way to the REAL deadline (not any of tyler's "OMG" ones).  and, when he failed to lead to stop deficit spending now.  you may have seen a coupla my posts calling the hack out, here, but i'll tell ya something, my pirate friend:  i'll bet that thousands of r.paul "supporters" read those post of mine calling him out for his "false dichotomy" and failure to do anything to HELP the nation during those days, or even try to, by "stepping out of line" and leading

oh, i got a ton of "junks"  and "bad grades from the other bloggers" but you know how many of r.paul's supporters engaged me in debate over what i was seeing about him and how i didn't like it at all?  yep:  zero!

then i did a coupla more blogs about his bill to just declare 1.6 Tril$ of T debt void b/c "we owe it to ourselves", but same result:  zero of his supporters would do anything by junk me!

then, i reponded to a pro-paul post positively b/c he has said stuff about the way things are done, and i did acknowledge that, but when i asked the blogger how "the 1,6 Tril$ bill was doing in congress"  no reply and a few more junks!

now, no doubt the people just love balloons and bands and parades, and dr. paul, too!

and yeah, i thought mr rogers lived in china, for all the best reasons, i'm sure.  and maybe he votes in connecticut or something.  i don't know.  i was just asking if anyone else did.  doesn't look like it.

are you saying that you know tyler can vote in US elections or that you "vouch for him" no matter where tf he votes?

i wonder how long has mr rogers been in china, now, so that his "children could learn chinese"?

Whenever Mark Levin calls Ron Paul, Rue Paul, I grieve for the conservative cause. I will not vote for the least-worst candidate, because of the arrogance you display and that is so prevalent in other "conservative" talk show hosts.

Ron's the real deal.

Signed, another delegate on the ballot--and former CEO and Chaiperson of a Chicago-based investment bank.... Probably on some black lists now.

Love America, but she's in the hands of crooks now. And one last thing... Levin agrees with the Guilianni comment that Paul suggest that America is to blame for terrorism (the blow-back concept). What a crock? That's like saying I'm criticizing America for creating the Federal Reserve or bombing Iraq while Clinton was jizzing on Monica's dress! That's like saying I'm criticizing America for deriding Roosevelt's (or Obama's for that matter) executive orders! FAIL. FAIL. FAIL . This country is deeply F'd. Second passport and citizenship time. Who is John Galt and where's he going?

Someone's talking about a Bank Holiday on Monday

The NYSE of course can can continue trading electronically through its Archipelago electronic trading system. But the floor is 25 percent of the volume. There will be very few "human" traders around to begin with. What will we have — 100 percent high-frequency trading on Monday? If the storm is as bad as some feared, SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro should consider delaying or not trading at all Monday.

If you think there will be no difference with RonPaul in office, you are dumber than a rock.  If you think he won't be able to completely clean up the mess, well, neither do we.  But it would be rather enjoyable to watch thousands of billionaire suits filling federal prisons.  Also, you need to consider the imponderables, including "getting the pendulum swinging the other way", and how that might (just might) snowball.  And if the predators-that-be and banksters pull a kennedy on him, that will be enough to start the second revolutionary war, which is badly needed.

Uhhh, maybe his 30 year track record of practicing what he preaches, to such an extent that he was labelled as "Dr. No" by members of his own party?  Perhaps the fact that 99% of the time that there is a single dissenting vote to any legislation, it is his vote?  Perhaps the fact that he voted against honoring national heroes with taxdollars, and instead offered to pay for the honor out of his own pocket?

Or perhaps its the fact that he saw all this coming ten damn years ago but idiots like yourself wouldn't listen?  And still won't, apparently.  You'd rather slander him and fight his righteous movement for freedom with every breath in your body, so totally enslaved are you to your masters.

Ronald Reagan didn't do ANYTHING except for accelerate the destruction of this country.  He ABANDONED his conservative/libertarian principles, and spent like a drunken sailor to buy votes.  He rode the Goldwater revolution, and then betrayed them, but they still love him for it.  It's bullshit.

To be honest, I hope that the is a Hell, so he and people like him can burn there.

Why hasn't Ron Paul made any progress?  What do you call all this?  Five years ago he had a following of a few hundred die hard followers.  Today MILLIONS like him, and are ready to vote for him.

He gave us the health plan I use today (the high deductible health savings account) and the mint bullion program (ie gold and silver eagles).  He will likely be remembered as the most effective single congressman in history, IF he isn't elected to the presidency (in which case he will be remembered as the greatest president in 150 years).  And this was with one man against 434!  Imagine if we had had ten men with his conviction!

And wtf are you talking about no job experience?  He took off from congress for a decade to work as an OBGYN.  He had his own practice, IIRC.

What's important is that Ron Paul believes that I should have the liberty to decide such things for myself. I know too many irrational people to believe that anarchy is feasible outside the petri dish. I agree with libertarians on many of their complaints with government (e.g. the "war on drugs", the MIC, and civil liberties),
but have problems with much of their prescribed economic medicine and boundless faith in the ability of markets to solve every problem on earth.

Succinctly, I know too much 19th century history to romanticize or desire to repeat it.

You guys have been fun to follow, don't want to step in it at fight club but...

Snowball, what about the idea that you let each state set their own rules, then go live in the state that matches your internal makeup best. Each state is kind of like a running social experiment. Successful ones would get imitated, unsuccessful ones would be free to fail and restructure. You are not dependent on one size fits all, hegemonic, centralized systems that come up with TBTF and so forth. Centralized systems fail because they have generalized rules that don't match local realities. They lack redundancy. They do not mimic nature. Local people could set the local standards, instead. If you want the right to have an abortion, live in an abortion state. Marijuana state, ditto. Liquor free state? Ditto. Instead of depending on the Feds, you are prepped as you see fit to take care of your own. We should all do that any way on an individual, local, and state level.

I am not sold on Ron Paul, at all. I do know for a fact we will have to become more localized in how we do business and governance. Energy dictates it. Catching fish in the US, shipping it to China to process, and shipping it back to the US to sell, is unsustainable. I am happy to pay more for fish that is local, processed by my neighbors. I can't help but be open to the ideas I hear from RP. But no, I am not sold, but open.

I actually think it is too late and the best we can do is cushion the fall. These morons in charge are running us off the cliff at maximum speed, instead. The fall is going to be a bitch.

I'm getting really sick of arrogant assholes on a minor planet, way the fuck out on a minor spriral arm who think they know the secrets of the universe.

God might forgive you such arrrogance, I won't.

I don't know the secrets of the universe. I don't know where matter and energy came from. But I'm not going to pretend that they were wished into existence by an invisible man who flies in the sky forever.

I can respect the beliefs of others but if one wishes to debate such matters I will debate them and if one wishes to have a pissing match over them I'll be more than happy to whip it out.

I'll just leave this here: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142405274870355900457525647015234198...

I love how you call people seeking systematic answers to how the world works "arrogant", while simultaneously answering every question for which you don't know the answer with "God did it".

ya know, t.moZe, i'm re-reading this, and i see where the rodent_freik said "god might forgive..." but i fail to see where he tried to answer his own unknowing in the face of the mysteries of the universe with "god did it", here.  just sayin

The pi-rat slows down and tries to hear what is being said, assumes little. I like how he(?) tries to be fair. All of us gloss and jump to conclusions at times. I can stay with it if I think the person is making a good faith effort. I am less patient if I think it is manipulation. The pi-rat reminds me to slow down too. Thanks.

Go to your sterile lab and see if you can cause an eternal, omnipotent being to spring into existence.

Lord knows I've tried to do that.

Put scientists in a sterile lab with no dna, and have them create life. I'll wait.

Okay, but we will require the RNA precursors (readily available throughout the cosmos), some amino acids, and several billion years.

Actually people tend to base their predictions on what they would like to occur.

I see.  So the fact that I predict that I will die at some point in the future makes me suicidal?

People who see a tidal wave coming in, and turn to run want the tidal wave to kill them?

Sometimes we base our predictions on things that we see happening, and interpret what will happen from there based on past experience, both personal and that which has been related to us (ie history).

Please look up the definition of "tend" which is short for tendency.

If you didn't put anything out here, we might just wonder if you were an idiot, but thanks for making it crystal clear that you are a huge fucking idiot,

Absolutely correct.  Never value Gold or Silver for that matter in FRNs.  The FRN died, its just been put on life support while they finnish off any value it has left.  I like gold, but prefer silver.  In Biblical times, Judas bought a farm for 30-36 pieces of silver.  Not bad by my reckoning.  A slave's life could also be bought for 36 pieces of silver.  With all my silver, I think I'll buy a farm, then Bernanke and Krugman to work it for me.  Have a nice day!

Foolish. They've never done real work in their lives. All they know how to do is print.
