Jon Stewart On The Ron "13th Floor In A Hotel" Paul Media Blackout

Tyler Durden's picture

Over the weekend, following the Iowa straw poll result, we posed a simple question: why does the media continue to ignore Ron Paul (on both the left and right)? We followed up with none other than Paul's own response to this curious status quo. A few days later, it appears that the media itself has finally caught on to this ironic 'house of mirrors' effect, and while Paul is still not a household name, the self-effacing sarcasm this topic has garnered, has been captured best by none other than Jon Stewart in this entertaining clip that mocks the established mindset of the legacy media to not dare disturb the status quo, confirming that everyone, left and right, are really all just the same. For those who have not seen it yet, this is a hilarious must watch.

"hides everything good they have because they are afraid someone will try to take it from them"

that's a very subtle but incredibly astute observation.   i come to the edge of that point almost on a daily basis these days.    it's sad really, because i see so many with so much to offer inside that are afraid to share it...and for good reason.

I agree this is subtle, and it's a point I'm reaching almost daily too. . . whether to share information that may come to be seen as "subversive" going down the road - and I'm talking about really obvious things, like growing healthy food, and why supermarket food isn't healthy - because it comes back that there's an awareness behind the information that is threatening to some/many, and in the coming months/years, there will no doubt be rewards & "bounties" for snitching on folk in the local populace.

knowing where the line is between sharing info, support, and blending into the background. . . it's a dance, to be sure.

Ok! Heres the Plan!

Sell Ron Paul to the People!

Get him Elected!

Then have Ron Paul gunned down in Texas by a magic bullet!

then Palin / Bachmann / Perry / Romney can be President!

it is a win, win and win! The People get what they want! then we get rid of Ron Paul for good! and our President then is in the White House!

No matter who you Vote for! YOUR VOTE DOESNT COUNT!

Apologies to anyone who thinks I'm spamming but c'mon now - who cares what you think about Ron Paul?  Everything someone could say about him has been said.  I say he's a good man of principle.  But you already knew that.  Or you think I'm an idiot.  It's all good either way.

Let me take some time to highlight something JW in FL said that was quite relevant.  And because I'm all about self-improvement, Cog Diss-style:

Nothing will change UNTIL! YOU!! CHANGE!!!

True, JW.  For you, me and America.

as for Ron Paul.. I hope he gets elected.. but nothing will change.. even if they did NOT! treat Dr. Paul like they treated JFK!

but even if they let Dr. Paul have his say.. who in Congress or the Senate will support any changes for "We the People"???

"We the People" do NOT have a Multi Trillion Dollar Federal Reserve Fund to draw down from to support spending $100's upon $100's of Billions of Dollars in Lobby Monies! who do you think "We the People" are? Israel?

What is so laughable is that this ended up being the greatest result for Dr. Paul. He finished 2nd and then the media did not have to jump into discrediting the poll mode and then with a margin so slim it took a a free Randy Travis concert to give her a 153 vote win (Not counting scattered or missing votes which are about 220+ if I recall) they chose to ignore him.

They ignored him and backed out on promises to have him on Sunday talk citing a full schedule to the point where Stewart was able to do more good for his campaign by bringing the false party system front and center to his left leaning audience creating even more attention and reflection on why BOTH SIDES IGNORE HIM. This blew up in their faces like an H-Bomb all over the mainstream and the beauty is..now they have to cover him. He is going to run away with the GOP nomination and this week I assure you that the ramp up will be the Fight mode of attempting to discredit his ideas because they are left with zero options at this point. The ignore stage has just ended.

Not a chance either of the puppets funded by Wall Street and MNEs can win the GOP.

This is all part of the circus...the idea being to ignore him and then have a few reports come out suggesting him being ignored which will make him seem as a underdog fighting against corruption. AAmericans luuuv underdogs..

Watch closely as the machinery will fully back Ron Paul as we get closer...(Perry and Bachmann are just fronts, to ensure that Paul wins, just like McCain was against Obama)

RP was put there for a purpose....and now its being realised.

probably naive for people to think that Stewart doesn't have ulterior motives e.g in the mind of progressives a candidate like Paul = Perot such that the impact would be (in their minds) to split the repub party.

No I'm saying that Ron Paul's stance on the war, drugs, freedom and Ron Paul's record of integrity the last 40 years appeals to many people on the left including John Stewart.  In my opinion I think some of those on the left are waking up to Ron Paul, he doesn't just appeal to hardcore libertarian people.  I consider myself Libertarian and I have to consider the thoughts and views of people of all spectrums including lefties (as there is a lot of them).  Most aren't bad people and if takes 100 years of tyrannical progressive oppression, 40 years of printing USDs, 8 years of Bush and 4 of Obama and then Ron Paul to catch the scent of a bid to wake up some lefties with a megaphone like Stewart to alternatives (even if they don't support Paul, but just to consider him) then we're making some big steps, very quickly.

edit: that's a royal "we", as an englishman/canadian watching what is happening to my neighbours to the south and really worried for America and the rest of the world frankly.

Ron Paul may be the illusion  that some frightfully claim.

Who knows. Anything is possible.

If he is even 5% real, he's about 99.5% better than the alternatives.

I guess I'll have to go with the person who *could* be some sort of 'planned illusion' who happens to make the most sense, rather than the ones that *could* be illusions that make almost no sense.

What other choice is there? Should people vote for the candidate who sounds like the biggest imecile because reverse logic states that 'this is what *they* want?'

I'll have to take my chances and vote for the person who makes the most sense in what he says and how he HAS VOTED FOR ABOUT 40 YEARS (always consistently on the side of a CONSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK).

I e-mailed this to my brothers and friends as the best example yet why I do not watch any major TV networks.

The real message is, as Ron Paul suggests, is that this kind of reporting exists because it reflects what a now majority want: A nanny state, where the government takes care of every one regardless of their ability or willingness to work to support themselves. Up to this point the government, through borrowing and taxation of productive individuals, has been able to do this, and the politicians who dole out this largesse, have been voted in as sugar daddies, not as defenders of the constitution, or protectors of this country. Learned helplessness has subsequently allowed the media, wall street, and corporations to take candy from these babies.

Ron Paul's other problem......  The future campaign ads arguing that on December 8, 1941, Ron Paul would have stuck his head in the sand and let Hitler and Hirohito slowly take over the world as he would have argued that we deserved to have Pearl Harbor hit as we cut off trade with Japan.

All Japenese at the time were being hastily trained by unit with whatever weapons could be made, issued and found.

The Atomic strikes were necessary because later that year in or about November 1945, we would be throwing 1.45 million Gi and Marine against Homeland Japan from the sea and the Japanese will fight for every scrap, just as they did against the Invasions of the Mogul and others of old.

No sir, those bombs saved lives. History shows that the world war two might have gone into the late 40's early 50's and probably included Korea anyway. THAT would have been nuclear against China then because she had none.

Nagasaki is famous in the history of Japanese Christianity. Not only was it the site of the largest Christian church in the Orient, St. Mary’s Cathedral, but it also had the largest concentration of baptized Christians in all of Japan. It was the city where the legendary Jesuit missionary, Francis Xavier, established a mission church in 1549, a Christian community which survived and prospered for several generations. However, soon after Xavier’s planting of Christianity in Japan, Portuguese and Spanish commercial interests began to be accurately perceived by the Japanese rulers as exploitive, and therefore the religion of the Europeans (Christianity) and their new Japanese converts became the target of brutal persecutions.

Within 60 years of the start of Xavier’s mission church, it was a capital crime to be a Christian. The Japanese Christians who refused to recant of their beliefs suffered ostracism, torture and even crucifixions similar to the Roman persecutions in the first three centuries of Christianity. After the reign of terror was over, it appeared to all observers that Japanese Christianity had been stamped out.

However, 250 years later, in the 1850s, after the coercive gunboat diplomacy of Commodore Perry forced open an offshore island for American trade purposes, it was discovered that there were thousands of baptized Christians in Nagasaki, living their faith in a catacomb existence, completely unknown to the government – which immediately started another purge. But because of international pressure, the persecutions were soon stopped, and Nagasaki Christianity came up from the underground. And by 1917, with no help from the government, the Japanese Christian community built the massive St. Mary’s Cathedral, in the Urakami River district of Nagasaki.

Now it turned out, in the mystery of good and evil, that St. Mary’s Cathedral was one of the landmarks that the Bock’s Car bombardier had been briefed on, and looking through his bomb site over Nagasaki that day, he identified the cathedral and ordered the drop.

At 11:02 am, Nagasaki Christianity was boiled, evaporated and carbonized in a scorching, radioactive fireball. The persecuted, vibrant, faithful, surviving center of Japanese Christianity had become ground zero.

And what the Japanese Imperial government could not do in over 200 years of persecution, American Christians did in 9 seconds. The entire worshipping community of Nagasaki was wiped out.

You really think that Japan would have not surrendered if we didn't use the bomb?

Admiral William D. Leahy, who served as Chief of Staff for both FDR and Truman -

"It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons.

As reported in the LA Times in 2005 -

Regarding the it "saved lives" thing

"The hard truth is that the atomic bombings were unnecessary. A million lives were not saved. Indeed, McGeorge Bundy, the man who first popularized this figure, later confessed that he had pulled it out of thin air in order to justify the bombings in a 1947 Harper's magazine essay he had ghostwritten for Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson."

I have had the pleasure to speak to many, many, sailors, airmen, marines, and soldiers who fought in the Pacific. Not a single one would support those revisionist statements you just posted. They had "hands on" experience with the Japanese. The Japanese were not going to surrender without a fight. Iwo Jima and Okinawa proved that. You, sir, are a fool.

Unfortunately, Moe, the soldiers weren't the ones making decisions.  If they did think and not just follow orders, they might have stepped back for a second, looked at each other, and said "why the hell are we killing each other?".

And yes, Japan's political leaders were willing to surrender and so the Japanese soldiers would have done what they were told.

Lies your history books told you...

The beauty of the internet is that the real history is available to those who seek it out.  Do your own research.

http://www.doug-long.com/

has plenty of evidence showing that Japan was willing to surrender.

https://www.democracynow.org/2011/8/9/atomic_cover_up_the_hidden_story

shows the most pernicious side of the whole thing in how targets were chosen for their "experimental"value--not necessarily their military value.

It's historical fact that Truman nuked Japan, on the falsehood justification that they would not surrender, in order to a) get a real world test of the  capabilities of the new technology, and b) send a warning to the Soviets that the U.S. was going to pretty much write the new rules post-war, and set the global chess table to our liking, whether Stalin liked it or not.

Yes, nice job parroting the winner's press release.  Now use that one functioning brain cell you have left.  Japan was defeated.  There was no need to EVER invade.  If it had served any purpose to force a surrender, all we had to do was blockade and/or damage their ports.  Stuck on that island with no oil, metals or food coming in.

Ron doesn't know how to draw in the sheep.  His son Rand is a much better "politician" and has the same views as his dad.  I'm a huge Ron Paul supporter but cringed at his Iran comment.....not because it wasn't spot on but because those types of comments lose support from a certain segment of the Republican Party that are needed to get him elected.  Ron will not win in 2012 but whoever does will oversee a crumbling economic environment during the 2012 - 2015 period that by 2016 they will be begging for Rand to run.  Rand Paul 2016.

this might not turn out all bad for Paul. the MSM has done tis same old "see no evil, speak no evil" routine with Limbaugh and Coulter, as well. They tried to engage L&C's ideas, found they couldn't - Limbaugh killed 'em with unassailable common sense and their own idiotic quotes; Coulter killed 'em with exhaustively researched endnotes and their own idiotic quotes - and finally sulked away and just decided "We'll pretend like those bad people don't exist." Obviousy, this is the plan for Paul as well.

Gandhi pretty much called it: "first they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

This should pretty much put to rest any lingering notions of a free press, though. It's obvious they all get the same marching orders from the same sources.

Funny - Generally I am not a big Fan of Jon Stewart - but this was great. To be perfectly honest - I think it may be in the best interest of Ron Paul NOT to reveive much MSM coverage. The reason being that I am no of the mind that the MSM has basically picked the President - or at least who the candidates from both parties would be for the past 5-6 elections AT LEAST. I think people are now fed up that MSM coverage may be a curse and the peope may jsut go to Ron Paul for the simple reason that the MSM is NOT!

that's high praise indeed, vic.

i'm not going anywhere for a long, long time.  i'm committed to this site and its stated purpose -- i truly believe in it, and i want to do all that i can to endorse its efforts.  Durden may be wrong occasionally or even often (haven't seen the latter yet, but i'll allow that it may come someday); that isn't so much what concerns me.  he's obvoiusly highly intelligent, a skilled analyst trained by the same kind of people who engineered this mess, wise/pissed-off enough to have shucked it all in favor of speaking what was to him the evident truth, and does all this and so much more with style and verve.  all those things are meritable, no doubt about it.  A+++ all the way round.  but that's not what makes this place really special.  i'm just the beginning, vic.  Truth is a powerful magnet...and this one here at ZH is an Electro-Truth-Magnet...those sucker's will draw the heavy stuff in.

This man, Tyler Durden, deserves all honor round here.  he traffics in the most precious currency: INTEGRITY.  it's so hard to find intelligence, competence, insight and a writers aptitude from the financial world (but i'm finding more sources as i go), and then you go and throw in integrity...why, my friend, it's a wonder.  i pray it lasts. i just want to do my part.

so, ZH, keep talkin your book, whatever it may be, and whatever you may wish it could be.

Vic, i'd like to throw back an oat soda or two with you someday, mi amigo.  we'd do fine along side one another -- same sense of humor, and, bonus: you get all the silicone gals and i'll take all the natrahs.  i like em soft and supple.  sure, janus misses the young misses with their ever-so perky...oh, i should leave off there; memory lane and all that.  my point is, once a woman becomes such, and you get em all reved up, those soft things have a way of plumping back up -- just temporarialy.  it's rewarding.  but, sure, go ahead and have your silicon princess.

P.S In England it was practically assured that the Libdems would win after an amazing "whole country" turn-around following 3 live debates two weeks before the election....I am 100% sure that the results of the election did NOT show this swing. Infact it went backwards to what they won in the previous election.

IMO it is impossbile the last election was a fair event. I am 100 % sure it was decided by TPTB before hand. They only formed a coalition to stop tongues wagging that the result was rigged.

Paul is ignored on the main stream right because he is a kook.  He would not have gone into Pakistan to kill Bin Laden.  He would allowed States, he said so in the debate, to coerce citizens into buying health care.  He would allow Iran to build nuclear weapons saying that they are not a threat to us -- even though they've been experimenting with long range missles.  A kook and an embarASSment.

And it was Ron Paul who said years ago that Bin Laden was in Pakistan and not Afghanistan. So how do you reconcile multiple war fronts with the intention of killing Bin Laden only to ignore his presence in a supposed ally state? Iran is not a threat to us and what do you imagine them doing with a nuke? Setting one off in Israel which has numerous nukes and risking instant retaliation that would destroy their nation? Is it better to have our nation go down the road of ruin by not setting the bar with example as opposed to force?

So these wars should continue in your opinion?

Obvious that the controls disallow Ron Paul from hitting the radar, beit that he'll upset the status quo. More so, he proposes the truth for fixing an over broken ponzie scheme. Which we all know cannot be fixed, it must be reset. And to be reset is to destroy our current standards. So in a sense, Ron Paul is the "anti-christ" of politics. Choose his message and both the working class will extrapolate power and we'll have a mess so large that those unable to suffer a paradime shift will hurt painfully.

Shame on those of you who chant knowledge of what is the ponzie scheme but cannot use models like Madoff to see how the end game is devestational. Also shame on any clown who feels treatened by Jon Stewart or says he has alterior motives or doesn't see how skillfully his team exposes double talk and lies on a constant basis. The military industrial complex together with the European controlled investment bankers will do anything to make sure he does not stand a chance. If all else fails they will do a JFK on him.

Ron Paul supporters are considered 'terrorists' by DHS, would definitely make a good campaign commercial and get some more support instantly. Especially if Ron were to say he would end the new Gestapo in the commercial.

Are you hiring? I'll be glad to send out my resume to you. Just like the other 144 jobs I have applied for in the last 4 months. If you're not hiring...go fuck yourself. Sounds like you have too much time on your hands at work to be posting on this board. Good luck with that.

Bravo.

Karzai knows it is people like you and not the elite who have created these problems. He also knows that as the problems compound, it makes it just that easier to find a job as the economy blossoms. That's why he visits this site.  He learned this all in his undergrad class on logic.

FU@#$#  did you see that first couple of seconds? "Top tier"? That phrase must have just been made up by TPTB and it's being broadcast/brainwashed to America ON ALL THREE MAJOR NEWS OUTLETS!

So funny, but I dont know whether to laugh or cry that this is the state of this country today.

Ron Paul 2012...dont stop spreading the word, share videos like this, do something!

The MSM has the same problem with Paul they had with Perot in the early 90,s. He screws up the game. They are status quo players. Republicans are nervous his sound money and anti war views will catch on and Democrats are bothered he's cutting into the youth vote for Democrats over the war issue. They understand how to play the game in the usual two pary setting but Paul's a wildcard.

Did the rest of you kids miss the "Twinkie Log" sign in the back drop when the FOX Creeps mentioned Ron Paul? Tsk, Tsk, Tsk...

Reality Check:

1. Ron Paul is not in favor of Socialism for Anyone - Including the DoD; Insolvent Corporations (read: Corporate Officers living off the Corporate Dole); Veterans; Teachers; etc.

2. We all live in the Largest Socialized Economy the world has ever known - assuming all the writers here are from the U.S.. Now, the only questions are: Who benefits from this masive reallocation of moneys fascilitated by Public Policy?; Is this sort of spending sustainable and to the benefit of the Majority of the U.S. Citizenry?

Ron Paul wins when the popular vote overwhelms the vested interests. (This usually occurs after the bloody revolution, but we could make it different this time).

If everyone who thought that "Ron Paul? Hmm...I don't agree with everything he says, but he makes more sense than anyone else" and voted that way, we might just have more than a horse race. Remember Ross Perot? Although he didn't win the election, he scared the shit out of TPTB and things did change in Washington for a little while. The Tea Party reminds me a lot of those times, except this time some actually made it to Washington.

This is the problem … Perot could not win but he did split the vote, guaranteeing a Clinton victory (I don’t know Bush would have been any better though).

If Obama gets elected we will lose traction for a generation … we must select someone that can defeat BO … that is the priority
