Live Streams From Athens And Greek Parliament

Tyler Durden's picture

Today at midnight local time, 5pm Eastern, the Greek parliament is expected to pass the latest bill finalizing the terms of the second Greek bailout, which as explained yesterday has quietly increased from €130 billion to €210 billion. Needless to say, it will pass, as the opportunity cost for Greece of "pledging" to achieve unattainable targets while doing absolutely nothing, as has been shown repeatedly over the past two years, is zero. The only real questions are i) what the Greek population may do in response to this latest selling out of a population "led" by an unelected banker, which if history is any precedent, the answer is not much, and ii) how Germany will subvert this latest event, and put the bail [sic] back in Greece's court once again.

I find it ironic in a country where virtually no one is working that the parliment can somehow muster the will to vote this law into place on Sunday at midnight just so the markets can open with the futures up for the banks once again. This is what Fascism looks like before things get real ugly.

Wow, what a mess. The banksterz didn't want to wait for a third round since Greece might be out of the EU by then, so they upped the ante by EU80 Billion. As we know, 81% goes to the banksterz so they increased their take by EU64.8 Billion. What a slick move by Puppet Papademos to pull on the Geek citizens in the middle of the night! You're right, the people will not be happy about this.

I think it was one of the elder Rothschild's who famously said something to the effect of - "I care not what puppet sits on the throne, he who controls the money, controls the empire".

what we are seeing happen now is an extension, the evolution of that statement into it's current endgame for all humans who aspire to be free. I think he might amend that statement today to something like this-

"I care not what puppets spend the money or for what reasons, so long as they keep spending more than they have, for he who controls the debt, controls everything."

Greece may be the first nation to completely fall to the new Bankster empire, but they will certainly not be the last.

All these problems come back to philosophy. As long as wealth redistribution is accepted as moral the whole thing continues. Greece gets bailed out. Stays a member of the EU and implements no(or very little) austerity.

This isn't a government caused problem, it isn't a banker caused problem, it is a  problem caused by the majority of people's philosophy(in greece and EU and USA). It is a problem with the philosophy that wealth redistribution(theft) is moral. It is a problem with the philosophy that democracy is morality.

Greece if anything has been the smartest player in the game getting far more redistributed to them then they have contributed.

I would be most curious to hear CNBC's take on Chinese citizenism citizens.

I bet it would make me laugh!

Somehow, I suspect that all the public spitting, farting, nose-picking, and roadside shitting would not be part of their analysis --- just as the ongoing Chinese exploitation and colonization of Tibet, environmental destruction, warmongering against Taiwan, and brutal suppression of internal dissent is not part of the corporate-controlled media's portrayal of the People's Republic of Plastic Rice and Enforced-Abortion Sweatshops either.

Stoolman Mousy Tongue said it best in his famous Tiny Vermilion Treatise: "All hypocrisy and rapacious blobbing-up flows from the barrel of roadside shitting Chinese citizenism."

Nice jingoism, but meaningless.  Do you have any understanding of the root causes of the Greek problem, or do you just have some undefined anger that needs to find a target group of which you are not a member?

Greece went into deficit because it provided its citizens more than it could afford to provide.  It would have done the same in or out of the euro.  The common currency just limits its own ability to print and debase on its own.  Since it could not pay for itself, it borrowed to pay for the bread and circuses its people grew accustomed to and now demand.  Because the providers of that capital have determined that Greece cannot repay its borrowings and will continue to promise its citizens more than they can afford, those funds are being cut off.  Austerity means that PUBLIC sector employees are being cut, their wages are being cut and their pensions are being cut.  Because these workers were also customers of private sector enterprises, private sector companies are facing difficult times.

Just one simple example:  do you know that the Greek Railway pays four times as much in wages than it actually takes in in revenues, never mind what it has to pay for fuel, equipment, maintainance, etc.?  You think this problem is solved by hanging a few bankers and politicians, and all those workers can still receive the same pay, purchase the same goods and services from the private sector, and have all Greeks pay the same ticket prices to ride the rails?

If you are to include "banksters and thieving politicians" on your list of bogeymen, then you'd better also include those who benefited from the deficit spending (public sector employees) and also private sector firms who benefited from the spending of public sector workers.  It is all interconnected, and will not be miraculously solved because some internet tough guy recommends "decorating the light poles with banksters and thieving politicians".  Had the banks not loaned Greece the money to fund the bread and circuses, today's problem would have happened years ago.

The root of this type of problem is that people worldwide want to consume today more than they can produce in a host of tomorrows.  Politicians pander to this human desire, though if they didn't, I suspect you would be complaining that leaders are being patronizing by telling the populace to work for what they want to consume.

If anyone in this passion play has a legitimate gripe against bankers, it would be the citizens of countries whose domiciled banks made loans to the Greeks, since these are the citizens who are going to be paying for the bread and circuses the Greeks have come to expect.

So Greece is headed towards collapse and perhaps civil war. Of course, we are already in a civil war here as well, it is just hidden by those trying to kick the economic collapse down the road. The war is over debt bondage, slavery to the welfare state. Many on the right have been predicting this kind of collapse for years but they were just ahead of their time. BTW, riots and bombings were a part of Greek culture and politics for the several decades before joining the EU.  Things have actually been rather quiet the past decade.  It might be more correct to look at this latest swing toward violence as a reversion to the mean.

The whole event would be SO MUCH SIMPLER if the police would just beat themselves.

You have to wonder where the Greek military stands here. It's not as if they haven't stepped in before and overthrown the govt.

Solar is way way cheaper than nuke.   Nuke was a stupid experiment, and it has proven itself time and time again that nuke and human life are incompatible.

Stop in here at the nukepimp (anti-nuke) and drop a comment, great resources here that show just how bad nuke is.

It was always going to pass. If you are going to be maximally cynical (as this blog teaches you), you have to assume that Greece will do what it has always done: raise alot of hell, but take the money no matter what austerity (always virtual) will be required.  ES 1380 shortly this week.

A few things to help you all interpret what you're viewing on ZH or tv:

the only people in Greece who are not losing a dime are the politicians.

WIth 10 million population, they've got nearly 300 politicians in the parliament.

No pay cuts, no cuts in pension. They get their pension as soon they lose an election.

The guys destroying stuff are not the average citizen. They're young anarchists, and

could be, in part, paid by the police to freak normal people out. That's why they never get

arrested.

If the place burns, so what? It means nothing.

The rest are still surviving waiting for the next black swan.
