Nancy Pelosi Issues Statement On Soaring Gas Prices
Warning: Not for the faint of heart.
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the rising gas prices across the country:
“Independent reports confirm that speculators are driving up the cost of oil, hurting consumers and potentially damaging the economic recovery. Wall Street profiteering, not oil shortages, is the cause of the price spike. In fact, U.S. oil production is at its highest level since 2003, and millions of acres have been cleared for additional development.
“We need to take strong action to protect consumers from this speculation. Unfortunately, Republicans have chosen to protect the interests of Wall Street speculators and oil companies instead of the interests of working Americans by obstructing the agencies with the responsibility of enforcing consumer protection laws. They have also repeatedly opposed our efforts to end billions of dollars in outdated taxpayer subsidies for oil companies enjoying record profits.
“We support efforts by the Obama Administration to expand domestic energy resources, including natural gas and renewable sources like wind and solar that create jobs in America and will end our dangerous dependence on foreign energy supplies. This can be achieved because today, the United States currently has more oil and gas rigs at work than the rest of the world combined, and imports of foreign oil have decreased.
“We call on the Republican leadership to act on behalf of American consumers and join our efforts to crack down on speculators who care more about their profits than the price at the pump even if these spikes harm the American consumer and our economy.”
Speculators? Such as the Federal Reserve and other central banks who have pumped $2 trillion of "liquidity" into the capital markets in the past 3 months just so Italian BTPs don't implode to fair value and so Europeans can continue living in a socialist "paradise" even as the bankers steal their gold?
Or is it the same congressional speculators who until recently had every right to front run the public on advance knowledge that the SPR would be tapped due to Democrat insistence to sacrifice America's last energy backstop only to win the election?
Or is Nancy simply pissed off that she can no longer trade ahead of any market moving news?
Whatever the reason for the gas surge, with these idiots in charge one thing is certain - the situation is about to get far, far worse.

Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Rahm Emmanuel and many other Democrats parroted the party line that (in Clinton's words) "Today's record-high gas prices are the price that the American people are paying for the Bush administration's failed energy policies."
Democrats seized control of Congress. Pelosi became speaker of the House. And gasoline prices? They continued to skyrocket — to almost $4 a gallon. So much for the Democrats' "common-sense plan."

How does $5 billion of national debt being heaped onto the American people every single day somehow not shows up on the democratic partys radar screen? Bernanke, the Chairman of the esteemed Federal Reserve Bank (a non-federal and very much reserveless non-bank entity), has been literally passing out near-free federal reserve notes to banking and financial institutions, many of whom have an implicit too-big-to-fail taxpayer backstop no matter how reckless their actions, that these entities have used to invest in all manner of asset classes, including oil futures (as they bear no risk of loss for losing trades, on top of the fact that the fed funds rate is ridiculously low).
I thought I'd clear that up for your constituents who are too stupid to believe your tripe.

How To Brick An Electric Car
A Tesla Roadster that is simply parked without being plugged in will eventually become a "brick". The parasitic load from the car's always-on subsystems continually drains the battery and if the battery's charge is ever totally depleted, it is essentially destroyed. Complete discharge can happen even when the car is plugged in if it isn't receiving sufficient current to charge, which can be caused by something as simple as using an extension cord. After battery death, the car is completely inoperable. At least in the case of the Tesla Roadster, it's not even possible to enable tow mode, meaning the wheels will not turn and the vehicle cannot be pushed nor transported to a repair facility by traditional means.
The amount of time it takes an unplugged Tesla to die varies. Tesla's Roadster Owners Manual [Full Zipped PDF] states that the battery should take approximately 11 weeks of inactivity to completely discharge [Page 5-2, Column 3: PDF]. However, that is from a full 100% charge. If the car has been driven first, say to be parked at an airport for a long trip, that time can be substantially reduced. If the car is driven to nearly its maximum range and then left unplugged, it could potentially "brick" in about one week.[1] Many other scenarios are possible: for example, the car becomes unplugged by accident, or is unwittingly plugged into an extension cord that is defective or too long.
When a Tesla battery does reach total discharge, it cannot be recovered and must be entirely replaced. Unlike a normal car battery, the best-case replacement cost of the Tesla battery is currently at least $32,000, not including labor and taxes that can add thousands more to the cost.

There are alternatives, like groups of people importing gas and smuggling it in. If the government and its crony corpoorate executives are bound and determined to screw us, well what do they expect?

We know of what she did with CLNE but I wonder how many millions she has banked over the years.
