With ever more Americans boldly crossing into the obesity zone, where so many have gone before, it is only fitting that the topic of today's infographic du jour is the Big Mac index: the world's intercontinental standard of purchase price parity.

you see, that's your problem, you don't eat McD's everday
Willy McCovey was "Big Mac", he could lay out for a ball. If he were alive, he could sue for defamation of character.
100% grass fed black angus beef from a local farmer in my home state of kansas. Durian fruit to stimulate my seratonin. Chai Tea for a nice tranquil buzz. Pistachoes while I smoke my cigar over reading an article from the IMF about rehypothecation. Ozarka spring water. A few grand made after shorting Corn after the hedge fund market blunder realized on Friday. All the while passing by Mcdonalds everyday laughing at the fools eating synthetic food.
I had some graass fed Kansas steak not too long ago. Great steak!
Travelling to the UK for the past two decades, the Fat Tax has always been the desired revenue stream to bail out failed mismanaged parliament debt/infrastructure expansion. Whatever you see England pulling on the serfs, will indeed happen in the US of A.
UK could introduce 'fat tax', says David Cameron
Think Obama Care.
Pelosi Pledges To Spend 'Whatever Time It Takes' On Comprehensive Health Reform
Time is running out for the progs.. Food Stamps, SNAP and MCD are making a killing off poverty. The more they breakdown the poor, the easier to strike soft HOPE & CHANGE votes.
So then, as I see...

Researchers predict that, if current trends continue, more than half of all Americans will be obese by 2030, leading to a $66 billion increase in health care costs, 7.8 million new cases of diabetes and 6.8 million new cases coronary heart disease and stroke.

I'm saying many things, including that Obamacare does Nada....Nothing....Nicht...to incentivize Americans to take better care of their own health. Plus, health care costs still rising over 15% per year plus more doctors exiting Medicare and Medicaid.
The result will be less access to health care while costs soar..
Better eat your broccolli.
This is complete bullshit. I live in Japan and the average wage here is $700 per week (for blue collar work). A pizza index would be fairer as a Pizza Hut large pizza here costs a staggering $40. Wages are way lower than the US and cost of living is way higher and there is NO paid holiday. To feed your familay with Pizza Hut would cost a full day's wage (after tax). And this is considered a first world nation?
We needs a mutha fuckin McRib index, for the homies in da hood, yo!
I like the time base index best, it's the best to use for historic comparisons.
Just for interest.
1968 a wage of $4.50/ hr. 2012 a wage of $25.00/hr.
a gallon of gas in 68 was 45 cents Cost in time 6 minutes. Today $5.80 a gallon or 14 minutes labour @ $25.00.
a pack of smokes in 68 was 40 cents Cost in time 5.3 minutes. Today $7.50 pk. or 18 minutes labour @ $25.00.
a box of KD in 68 was 12 cents cost in time 1.6 minutes. Today $1.00 box or 2.4 minuutes labour @$25.00.
An average house in 1968 $14,000 3,111 hours. Today $350,000 or 14,000 hours labour @ $25.00.
Prices are CDN$ in my area.
Hey, Canuck. Is it true the median house price in Vancouver is $1 Million and the median wage there only $63,500?
...sort of reminds me of the USA housing bubble.
Bought my house for $109,000 15 years ago, last offer I had on it was $500,000, but that's only because now it's surround by commercial.
There's a bubble here for sure but no one seems to know or care because prices are holding up.
Eat properly and you won't have to worry about your health and such. I can't drink sugary things and I can't eat fast food because it makes me sick.
I can run for an hour each day and not even think about it. What are you lardasses doing?
'Jogging' twice a week for about 30 minutes each. If I tried to do more than that I would have to jog to a hospital due to dodgy knee issues. But I am doing what I can.
I really enjoyed Stack Trace and the boxers posts and everyones posts about health/fitness/diet etc etc.
I don't buy into this "average number of minutes of work to buy a Big Mac." After taxes most people are lucky to order fries after an hours work.
Gully, are you single and a bottom, cos if so theres a place in my bitch harem for you, if you are any good with your mouth ill pay for the operations.
How the hell did this post degrade from a discussion of currency exchange and purchasing power into a chest-thumping "who's healthier than whom" debate between the wanna-be alpha males and the wanna-be alpha haters?
Back to the Big Mac index - anyone else find it funny that global economists berate the common purchasing power standard that the historicallyrelevant monetary metals represent, but everyone is fully on board with using fucking HAMBURGERS to establish a viable global standard of purchasing power equity... ?
I said it before a couple months back - this species (Homo Sapiens) is fucked. We (the thinking man) are being replaced by Homo Qualis Ovis (The sheep like man) and Homo Ama Bellum (the war loving man)
I fear the population dynamics are past the inflection point.
The iceberg of stupidity.... dead ahead.
