Rand Paul Detained In Nashville For Refusing Full Body Pat Down
The political news on this slowish Monday morning comes courtesy of the TSA and those who object to their policies, such as in this case Senator Rand Paul, son of Ron Paul, who has just been detained for refusing a full body pat down. This should teach Rand Paul to not accept Wall Street (and/or Warren Buffett) donations of free NetJets hours.

Republican Senator Rand Paul, son of presidential candidate Ron Paul, was detained on Monday by security officials at an airport in Nashville, Tennessee, an aide said.
Press secretary Moira Bagley wrote in a Twitter message that the senator told her at 10 a.m. EST, that he was being "detained by TSA (Transportation Security Administration) in Nashville."
Ron Paul, a congressman and Republican presidential hopeful, tweeted that his son was being detained for refusing a full-body pat-down "after anomaly in body scanner."
Something tells us the TSA budget is about to be severely curtailed...

Now let's think this through logically. If the government can only search based on probable cause and you believe that the government has both the right and responsibility to search you then you either must be a terrorist yourself or you have no respect for the Constitution.

It is a requirement to get on the plane that you must be searched. If you don't want to do that then drive. You either get metal detected, scanned or body pat down if you fly. If I go to an NFL game I get pat down. If you drive you need a license, if you buy beer you need to be 21, they check your ID. It's about being a part of society and sometimes doing things you are uncomfortable with. Paul is just grandstanding, it is bull shit.
It is unconstitutional for the federal government to search for any reason except probable cause. NFL patdowns are done by private property owners not the government. Airports or airlines could search passengers but they would be constrained by the opinion of their paying clientele.
That's the way it should be. A free market would provide you with the choice of anything from a light search to full anal penetration before boarding. Individual customers would make the decision as to which company's policies were amenable to them.
