In the criminal justice system I have noticed, unlike the air force and navy who have strict guidelines, the army seems to take anyone in regardless of their criminal history including felonies as long as they are "done with probation." They will never enlist the draft for they know the war protest would balloon. Wonder who then is made the bigger hypocrites, us or them?

At least they are finally rebuilding a lot of office space that is not actually needed. After 9/11 they built a lot of office space in Midtown and Jersey City. The only reason to rebuild WTC was if the financial world plans to get even bigger. God help us on that. Many of the office buildings in The Financial District have been turned into residential living. The rebuilding doesn't seem to make economic sense to me.

A building's steel beam support columns are packed with Thermate (TH-3) it is placed at intersecting vertical steel T and H support columns at a 45 degree angle, it burns-cuts thru these steel beams like a hot knife cut butter. Inner core beams (elevator shaft etc) are ignited seconds b4 all others sothat the building free falls inwards on it's own footprint.

At the same time through insider commodity speculation and the invitation of China to the World Trade Organization, plus NAFTA and GATT, America’s comparative advantage throughout the world diminished.
And, all the while, during the peak months of massive government spending on foreign wars, the Fed was able to provide plenty of fiat money to Congress and the markets to mask over a deepening domestic economic crisis, robbing citizens of their buying power. Even now, in the throes of a world economic crisis, Congress has plenty of money for its projects and the Fed can keep the stock market from tanking. IE, in the midst of an economic crisis, we can have guns and butter and banker bonuses – but not citizen prosperity.

As for 9/11 ten years later, yeah we lost alot more personal freedoms than most people care to realize. Somewhere upthread commenters were talking about how insane it is that people are now "OK" with cops looking around their properties without warrants, with airport scanners generating naked images of passengers boarding planes, etc. Indeed those mullahs in their caves are fucking laughing at us right now for all these things.
And for the record, Flight 93 was shot down by the US military, plain and simple. There were network reports from Shanksville that day, where locals reported hearing an explosion, followed by plane debris landing to the ground. They also noted they saw military aircraft in the area. I haven't seen those news clips from those networks since 2001. Go figure.
I was a broker working in Tower 2 on that day. My firm was on the 21st floor, and my bosses were both there for 1993, and when they heard the plane hit, they bolted out and made sure the rest of us got out as well, despite the PA telling us that all was well and we should get back to our offices. What we saw as we walked through the plaza and as far north as possible, was undescribable insanity and horror and I will never forget.
We need to have memorials, rememberances, etc. And as far as I'm concerned, the tape of the planes hitting the towers should be played on an endless loop to remind us of the horrors of that day, and that there is true evil in the world, and it needs to be confronted. Somehow.
But the media takes things too far and are a tasteless bunch. Corporate america should pipe the fuck down. When you keep seeing Budweiser haul out the clydesdales clip-clopping all the way to Ground Zero to hawk more of their beer, you know we definitely lost something.

Instead of hating on the fact that the terrorist attacks that occured on 9/11 changed the way that national security is looked at in this country, we should remember what the new measures have accomplished, what the global war on terror has done in stopping more, potentially worse attacks. We should also remember where we were on that grave day, and of course the memories of lost loved ones.
I can honestly say that I was a young, nieve child 10 years ago. I remember sitting in 5th grade class, during story time, when my teacher was disrupted by a phone call, gasped, and burst out into tears. I remember watching this unfold in front of the class, but no one knew what was happening. In fact, she was instructed to tell us nothing. About an hour after the first attack, they told us exactly what had transpired. Around 9:30, my parents, who both worked in Manhattan at the time, returned to suburban Mamaroneck NY and picked me up from school. Still, as a young child, I did not really know what was going on, so I took the short school day, the return of my parents, as a gift. I guess it truly was a gift that we were all ok.
I returned home and, as any sports addicted, 11 year old would do, turned on ESPN only to see video of the planes hitting the Worl Trade Center, and this image has been implanted in my brain ever since. We know people who lost their lives in these tragedies. I have seen the devastation that it has caused in families. It is truly remarkable how resilient these people are, how strong community, family, and, for some, religion has allowed these people to recover, albeit with a hole in their heart.
I am now a junior in college at the University of Michigan, studying in the Ross School of Business. I have learned much in the ten years between being an innocent 11 year old and the 20 year old adult that I am today.
I write all of this to completely contradict all of the negativity that exists on this page. To all of those that are claiming that the measures taken post-9/11 to ensure our safety, the will of governments globally to crack down, albeit while taking away some freedoms, in coordinated (maybe, ahem Pakistan ahem), multilateral attempts, is stunning. We have not seen coordination against a common enemy like this since, probably, WW2. What I am getting at is that, to all of the haters, put yourself in the shoes of a New Yorker, a DC resident, etc., and just try to even contemplate what it would feel like to lose someone in these attacks. Personally, if the government has successfully prevented any more civilians from being put in the line of danger, if I and my neighbors are safer, than God bless the government.
I guess, to sum it up, the fact that all of you are hating on the new policies for a new age, I will say that you could not imagine what it would be like to have your spouse/sibling/etc brutally, arbitrarily, and randomly murdered in an awful, painful way and that all of you really have no right to speak. The fact is that the government's job is to protect your saftey, so let them do it. Otherwise, hire your own army, pay for your own national security, and buy all of your own missiles/helicopters/fighter jets/etc. and pay for all of that. Myself, I will cherish the memories of lost loved ones, and thank the government for not letting any more large scale, devastating attacks take place on American soil.

Well, technically, I didn't attack the commenter, I upbraided you. But I know what you mean.
Look, twenty is young only in a relative way. Twenty is not that far removed from being middle aged in terms of human history and that is due in part to fossil fuels. Part of preparing the next generation for a brave new world, the long emergency or 1984 redux means they can't all be "winners" or "special" and that the world is what you make it. And making a world takes an understanding of the rather harsh realities of psychopaths, inequity and shortages of resources, capital and talent.

When I have a student in class who voices opinions that are ugly and biggoted, I fight for his or her right to say it when the rest of the class comes down on them. If you watch carefully, they will be more open when the authority figure makes a space for them. Finding out they are wrong is less humiliating when someone can see why they thought what they thought. You have to leave folks a way out and a way to repair the damage (in their identity with themselves and others). It makes it work so much better than telling them they are a piece of shit because they are "wrong." Also, getting inside why they think what they think can be an education. I used to hate conservatives. I understand now that they come from a very reasonable place, they are trying to conserve!!! Who'da thunk it! I used to identify as a liberal. The nanny state is a problem and me thinking I know what is good for others is a problem. Staying open helped me to see that the dichotomy itself was false.

There is a documentary (probably among many) that I saw 2 times when I was in Hawaii. It was put on by the Hawaii PBS and it specifically describes the inside job 9/11 was; wonderfully put together thesis that is proven very convincingly and credibly. It was fascinating. I wish I knew the name of it.

Well, I'm a happily married boomer female, and it's my husband who constantly fails to see the light. I am regularly treated to epithets such as "conspiracy theorist" and so on, yet when I point out that the Lincoln assassination is a documented conspiracy, as have been all assassinations in memory until--wait for it--the Kennedy assassination, I am greeted with dull silence, and then he usually leaves the room...

The moment I saw WTC 1 come down in perfect symetry at free-fall speed right into its own footprint I thought "controlled demolition". It looked just like other buildings brought down in controlled demolition. Identical.
Jets hitting those buildings was a diversion to provide a cover story most Americans woud believe. And most Americans still believe it today.
WTC 1, WTC 2, and WTC 7 were controlled demolition. Bringing down WTC 1 & 2, two of the tallest buildings in the world, in perfect controlled demolition, would require the best CD professionals in the world and would take months of planning and preperation.

I’ve watched and participated in these 911 discussions over the years. I can argue, discredit or diminish every supposed “proof”, so the other side just pulls up the next one. Discredit that (or offer that such an occurrence could have more than a single cause or explanation), and the next one comes up. Eventually they grasp at the most foolish of the “proofs”, such as the BBC report or the missile (or even worse and go with a GW-type RC model). When that last one is discredited, they go back to square one, perhaps assuming I have forgotten that I already took care of that one.

In short, if the European banks blow, the London and New York banks will not be far behind. Experience teaches that if the New York money center banks are faced by imminent bankruptcy, their first instinct would be to demand a second bailout of trillions of dollars at US taxpayer expense. The problem for them is that the first bailout has left such a bitter aftertaste that congressional passage of such a monstrous funding bill would be anybody’s guess. From the Wall Street point of view, this makes martial law a much more attractive alternative than in the recent past. Under the impact of a huge false flag event, new bailouts could be railroaded through the Congress or even approved by Wall Street puppet Obama as executive orders and validated later. They could even be approved as a measure necessary for national defense in an emergency. The impact in Europe would be similar.

This is the infamous Super Committee or Super Congress, an entity which exists in clear violation of the United States Constitution. If, according to one likely scenario, the Twelve Tyrants, the Congress, and Obama fail to agree on a common program of genocidal austerity against the American people, and automatic budget guillotine will come down around Christmas of this year, and will begin cutting $60 billion per year out of the Pentagon budget. According to a number of observers, this prospect by itself is sufficient to move the intelligence old boys of the rogue network to stage a substantial new terror stunt to protect their current level of funding. If new terror attacks occur, it will be much harder to cut the Pentagon budget. Having been deprived of the Cold War 20 years ago, these bellicose militarists do not intend to be deprived of their ersatz Global War on Terror, and they are prepared to go far off the reservation to assert themselves.
The anxiety in these circles is increased by news reports that the US presence in Iraq is about to be scaled down to about 3,000 troops. At the same time, public pressure for an early exit from Afghanistan is growing, while others are calling for a strategy based on limited special forces and the use of predator drones, but without large numbers of infantry.
Republican Warmongers Pose as IsolationistsThe disgust of the US population with the endless wars of the past decade has gradually transformed much of the Republican Party from a self-professed congeries of warmongers into a purported gaggle of isolationists, as seen in the recent debates. Naturally, for most of these figures the dovish transformation is purely demagogic. A robust false flag terror event would go far towards flipping the Republicans back to the warmongers stance they find inherently congenial.
London and Washington Still Want to Attack PakistanAnother factor which disturbs the Anglo-American imperialist planners is their inability to launch their military incursion against Pakistan. This had been planned for the immediate aftermath of the May 1st “Bin Laden” publicity stunt, and would have included an attempt by US Special Forces to seize or destroy the Pakistani strategic nuclear deterrent, leaving that country defenseless. The Anglo-Americans have been held in this case by a timely ultimatum from China, specifying that Beijing would treat an attack on Pakistan just like an attack on the Chinese homeland. This has largely checkmated China and Washington ever since. However, in the aftermath of a new false flag event blamed on Pakistan, it would be possible for the Anglo-American to revisit this issue with increased blackmail potential against the Chinese.
The US-UK Assault on Syria is FailingIn the Middle East, the Anglo-American power elite has wagered everything on the successful march of color revolutions backed up with NATO military aggression, leading to the overthrow of most of the existing regimes in the Arab world. NATO’s Urgent Need to Attack SyriaLibya has proven a much tougher nut to crack, and NATO, and despite a brutal application of genocidal force, has not yet cracked it. Because of Qaddafi’s superior fighting qualities, the long war in Libya has tended to shield Syria from the next, planned wave of NATO attack. In the meantime, the Syrian army has made substantial progress in quelling the armed rebellion mounted by death squads and armed gangs loyal to the Moslem Brotherhood, itself the creation of British intelligence. The optimum time for NATO to invade Syria would have been two months ago, but this proved impossible because so many of NATO’s strictly limited military assets were tied down on the Libyan front. Very soon, there will be very little of the Muslim Brotherhood soldatesca left in Syria for NATO to come and rescue.
A false flag terror attack, however, would immediately change this equation by creating political conditions in which Obama could successfully extort increased military assets from Congress and from Europe to carry out a direct attack on Syria. This in turn would likely embroil NATO in all-out war not just with Syria, but with Hezbollah and Iran as well. If one thinks of a world war evolving along the lines of the Thirty Years’ War in Europe (1618-1648), then this would begin to look very much like such a world war.

Right after the 9/11 anniversary, the United Nations General Assembly will convene in New York City. This bid will enjoy overwhelming sympathy around the world. It is quite possible that the General Assembly will approve the Palestinian request. The United States faces the humiliating isolation of having to block Palestinian statehood with a solo veto in the Security Council. Saudi Arabia is on record as saying that this outcome will lead to a catastrophe in US-Saudi relations.
Will Turkey Decline Role of US-UK Kamikaze Puppet Against Syria?A further complication involves Turkey. According to the Anglo-American dream scenario, Turkey should by now have attacked Syria, citing the pretext of wanting to stop the refugee flow across the two countries’ common border. For a time it looked like the Turks would indeed accept the role of kamikaze puppet against Syria in the service of London and New York. But, for the moment, it looks like they may have paused. Instead of invading Syria, Turkey is currently engaged in a high profile diplomatic clash with the Israelis, which makes much more sense from the point of view of Turkish interests and internal politics, and which increases the pressure on the desperados of the Netanyahu regime. All this comes at the moment when half a million Israelis have demonstrated in the streets to show their rejection of the militarism and economic austerity measures of Netanyahu.
A Turkish-Egyptian Alliance?There are even reports of a possible alliance between Egypt and Turkey, which would be most unwelcome to the US, British, and Israelis. The Egyptians, for their part, have become somewhat less subservient neighbors for the Israelis in the Sinai, especially after some Egyptian forces were killed by Israeli bombing raids targeting Gaza.
Iran: Bushehr Goes OnlineIn the background, the Iranian nuclear program is quietly proceeding. The Bushehr nuclear power station has come online, producing electricity for Iran’s national grid. The Washington Post, citing a September report from the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, claims that the Iranian nuclear program represents “an undimmed danger.” In a September 6 editorial, the paper claims that Iran has begun to use a new and more advanced centrifuge for the enrichment of uranium, and that rapid progress is being made in transferring existing centrifuges into a large underground facility located in a mountain near Qom, which makes them all but invulnerable to outside military attack. The protracted campaign of assassination against Iranian nuclear scientists, it would appear, has not been effective in stopping this progress. In the fevered imaginations of imperialist military planners, we may therefore be approaching the point of no return for an attack on Iran.
