Sunday Morning Politicomedy - SNL Does The GOP
With pretty much everyone else mocking the comedic interlude that nearly daily GOP debates have become, it was only a matter of time before Saturday Night Live had something to say on the matter. Sure enough, last night it did... And with Alec Baldwin doing Rick Perry, the conservative response aftershock begins in 5...4...3...

justice?
saturday night lives audience loves ron paul guaranteed, all the college kids do...they are fighting their own audience and losing them on this BS
He's definitely got the drug addled backing. Unfortunately that doesn't translate into votes. Dude I wanted too, I just forgot.
the drug addled vote democrat, so they arent in play here...
Does H P Drifter work for BofA
Drug abuse likely could be more of a Democrat problem, although G.W. Bush was/is an alcoholic and Limbaugh's a drug abuser, so was Glenn Beck.
It appears Republicans lean more toward pedophilia. You know, something where they can have a big power trip while screwing up someone else's life.
http://www.republicanoffenders.com/Pedophiles.html
Sathington has a point, but not for the reasons he thinks. A smart pot smoker realizes that Ron Paul is for states rights, ergo Cali would legalize it. A smart pot smoker reads the news that doesn't get into print and realizes Obummer blocked dispensaries in Washington State , Oregon, Arizona and Nevada, all with threats of legal action by the Attorney General. Since a smart pot smoker is probably 10-20% of the clan, don't expect too many votes out of it, most are idiots and still think Obama has their back. Gotta love any mention of drug abuse amongst Republicans gets immediately trashed in votes. They don't realize this blog will trash the next Republican president easily as bad if they don't have the balls to fix anything.
Just looked up the Obama marijuana flip-flop, thanks for the heads up, what an asshole.
Fuck off conservative crack smoking fag boy.
And that's from a liberal.
Fuck off.
Wow, took that one a little too seriously maybe. What's a liberal? That number line shit has no meaning to me. If you're a classical liberal fine. If you're one of these can't define anything piece of shit mush heads, then fuck yourself off to the nearest shit factory of a war that your fuckhead president funds with stolen money. You criminal cartel stealing worm.
That was a joke yall, did it hit too close to home?
I seriously think it's ridiculous and laughable that some asswipe prohibitionist would try to tell you what you can and can't put in your body. And yes Perry there are diseases out there, but that doesn't give you the right to force your Merck patented solution on everyone you sorry cheerleader.
look man. paul is a joke. you know it and i knpw it. the whole damn thing is a joke and the joke is on us. so shall we laugh at ourselves for being so stupid? do you get it yet? we laugh at things that are not funny. so we laugh now, while we still can laugh. one day there will be no more laughing.
that's a good pitch for athiesm and secular humanism, let me know how many offers you get.
I'm an atheist and I love Ron Paul.
The truth is, most people don't live in black and white. Their politics are a mix of conservative and liberal views, the problem is that candidates try to pick the one they think they can get the most votes on. I support much smaller government, support social security, agree morally with capital punishment, but think it should be stopped because of application problems. The country is just to polar to get it together.
That's one reason why Ron Paul wants to return to a Federalist system where more power is retained and exercised by the states. Let's replace the false polarity of Democrats vs. Republicans acting on the national stage with the regional preferences of the various populations. Ron Paul can help move power back toward the individual and away from the overlords in D.C.

Problem with political system today is not the candidates but the money supporting the buffoons expecting to make profit upon election. Politicians are just a horse the elites bet their money on winning. For the rest of the voting populace, it is just an entertainment.
When you play baseball and give money to the umpire, that is a bribe.
When you go to court and give money to the judge, that is a bribe.
When you go DC and give money to politicians, that is a campaign contribution.

As long as corporations are persons (and unlike evil dictators or corrupt politicians, corporations never die), politics will serve the interests of the big business not the people.
"I heartily accept the motto, "That government is best which governs least"; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe - "That government is best which governs not at all"; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have...But, to speak practically and as a citizen, unlike those who call themselves no-government men, I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government. Let every man make known what kind of government would command his respect, and that will be one step toward obtaining it." -- Thoreau
Ron Paul can help us move in the right direction. In the end liberty will depend upon the desire of each sovereign individual to achieve freedom for himself and his loved ones.
Be a corportion ...immune from death penalty.
Gods and religions die with their Empires. They always have, from the Egyptian Fairo's to the Greeks and Romans, The Incas and Aztecs, and soon the Christains, Jews and Muslims.
It is just institutionalized garbage. The Roman Catholics are getting a lesson in this in Germany today. A vote of no confidence for these Pedifile Tree fort beaurocrats. Thank god!
It is made up cave wall shit folks. From A to Z in human history.
All religions die. It a matter of time. The sooner the better.
Societies are made up cave wall shit, too, buddy.
Don't just denounce the construct of religion, yet conveniently look the other way when the social variant is right there.
Don't treat the social construct as great and unyielding objectivity when it is anything but.
I swear, people are fucking delusional, and they think you're the mad one when you tell them they're just play-pretending little bitches.
Stupid goddamned little bipeds: so afraid to throw away their hobbled together blanket of identity that anchors them to something in the world. What's so fucking terrifying about just being? People need to make up some kind of shit to "be" all the damned time: WHY?
note: I "love" atheists. They're almost always reactionary creatures that'll embrace secular society/humanity unconditionally because they believe it is an anithesis to religion...I wonder if they realize how stupid they look to any nihilist?
As some of the smarter graduate students say, "people suck".
yea but persons can be quite awesome.
don't mistake the forest for the trees.
An atheist was seated next to a little girl on an airplane and he turned to her and said, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger."
The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger, "What would you want to talk about?" ...
" Oh, I don't know," said the atheist. "How about why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?" as he smiled smugly.
"OK," she said. "Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"
The atheist, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea."
To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death, when you don't know shit?" And then she went back to reading her book.....
For what it's worth, I'm not partial to any religion in particular, and I have plenty of atheist friends. But the smug ones, and there are an overwhelming number, really bug the shit out of me.
I had one friend who said "if having an all powerful imaginary friend makes you feel better, then go for it."
I replied "if it really mattered that much to me, I'd be offended by your statement. But remember this, if I was an ardent follower of a religion, I'd respond with the following - if your life is more comfortable being empty and meaningless, go for it."
Because life is 'empty and meaningless' unless you have an 'all powerful imaginary friend'? I'm not sure that all atheists would agree...were you thinking of a trash nihilist mb?
"Cinnamon and sugary and softly spoken lies; you never know just how you look through other peoples' eyes..." B.Surfers
The sooner you die the better. Which is also, just a matter of time.
As the Bhudda said: it is the it's church that kills a religion. Well demonstrated these days.
Ron Paul has a big problem: he is not flexible.
One cannot win a national vote without appealing to people greed promising them something for nothing.
The second Ron Paul problem: he is discussing solutions without clearly identifying problems.
PS
I give a great credit to Ron Paul for raising many very important issues other people are even afraid to talk about. But any medicine must be properly adjusted for each individual patient and its conditions. The right medicine must be appropriately dozed, otherwise, it either will be ineffective or its side-effects will kill a patient.
A free market economic model has its huge benefits; however, it must be appropriately balanced and channeled to achieve overall society benefits. Dr. Ron Paul is a medical doctor and he must understand and articulate these issues.
Being President isn't about being the smartest or having all the solutions, it's about representing the current Zeitgeist, it's a popularity show like Big Brother and a thousand others
I think Ron Paul is at his closest to achieving this however he's as you say it too inflexible to realize this potential
In other words. he hasn't learned to lie like all the other politicians.
Right, he's so inflexible he's considering putting Kucinich in his cabinet.
Oh.
Got a link?
I'd like to see him run with Nader:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwIZ4syCFLc
Right, it is the answer for the ovines still existing in their fantastic linear 'left/right' paradigm. The 'left' would vote for Ralph, thinking he could keep Ron in check, and the 'right' would vote for Ron Paul because they see him as someone who can 'git 'er done', and the whole lot of libtardertarians together know for certain that neither RonP or RalphN are likley to bail out any insolvent banks anytime too soon, Too Big Too Frail or not.
Note: Wasn't implying that you're a 'sheep', just that a RN/RP ticket could have a wide range of ungulate appeal in addition to the various important points of their agreement in proposed policy.
Yeah, I hear ya. The beauty of both of those men is they wouldn't do it if they couldn't make it work. That's what character does.
I don't know that they could do it, just sayin'.
I sure wish they would.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20109638-503544.html
Here you are Bob!
Thanks. It's a chance. Ron's fundamental shortcoming is that apparent inability to compromise. Not himself, but in the sense of integrating his idealized agenda with what's possible and reasonably desirable to an open-minded moral majority.
He does that and we won't wish we had voted for Perot after all.
He's gonna have to ditch the ideologues or learn to speak to them. Perhaps that would be a task best left to his partner, now that I think about it.
He is also flexible enough to work with Bawney Frank to protect civil liberties and privacy right legislation. But has no problem calling Frank an idot (rightly so) on economics and banking.
And that is why those of us who support him like him. He does not compromise. He is willing to work with coalitions, but does not compromise his values. That is why he is the only one who can be trusted to do the right thing. He doesn't say one thing and do another. He is consistent and that's why we support him. You cannot say that about any of the other candidates up there and you certainly can't say it about Obama.
Every pragmatic person has accepted the fact that they will have to compromise at some point in their lives, RP is no exception to that because he is not stubborn to the point of insanity, like some.
He has yet to compromise where it really counts, and that is what counts.
Ron Paul has a big problem: he has principles.
There, fixed it for ya.
We will see if the American public prefers to be lied to endlessly. The odds are yes. But that's the core of principles: you don't yield them to changing majorities.
I'm sorry, but WHAT? Ron Paul has done the reduction of all arguments to the source of all the problems. Government power, federal reserve monetary debasement, military industrial complex. These are all the sources of the problems we have (recession, loss of liberty, lack of jobs, lack of recovery, immigration etc).
So not sure where you come with that statement. Everyone else is saying 'more government will solve the issue of too much government'
yea i'd like to hear ron paul discuss the role of the federal government and federal law (between and among the states as derived from lawsuits dealing with interstate corporate disputes regarding the interstate commerce clause and related constitutional authority for the govenrment to intercede in business/corporate disputes of the states ) .
-----i'd liked to hear ron paul address supreme court law on corporate personhood as a basterdization of the consitution and 14th amendment.
-----i'd like to hear ron paul's take on the federal government's role in restriciting campaign donations in federal (self) elections versus funding of other (state) elections. and i'd like to hear ron paul talk about the possiblity of giving states the power to limit donations from their persons and corporations to their own (self) elections as well as to federal elections.
----i'd like to hear him speak about the role of ANTI- TRUST law the failure of federal anti-trust beauracracy to prevent itself from being captured by the big cartels----and why anti-trust behavior is required to prevent cartels from destroying competition from individuals and small business by requiring government regulation to drive up the costs of entry and small scale competition.
---i'd like to hear him talk about the failure of class action law and to prevent all sorts of predatory financial behavior and the failure of government to protect the middle class and poor from pedatory financial behavior.
----i'd like to hear him talk about the government's failure to protect the original liberal consumer bankruptcy laws from legislative lobbying and capture by decades of carve-outs of non-dischargeability being dished out for all sorts of specialized debts ( tort liabilities, alimony, student loans, IRS debt ) and more importantly by changes towards the code which make bankruptcy far more expensive and time consuming. these changes have encouraged ALOT of predatory behavior by financial companies and many more interests.
THERE IS A HUGE ROLE FOR GOVERNMENT IN ENFORCING A LIBERTARIAN AND PRO-INDIVIDUAL AND SMALL BUSINESS COMPETITIVE CLIMATE.
and ron paul needs to start addressing this component of his ideology---supporting genuine competition and individual rights with a new paradigm of government----not just by destroying the old paradigm. that's not enough, nor is it a credible sale to the the many people who buy into his common sense but are taken aback by his seemingly oversimplified principles.
It's the rest of the clowns in the race that are the joke, the same joke that we've heard so many times that it's ceased to be funny.
you know its hard to understand how you can be so ignorant while living in the INFORMATION AGE. If you actually spent some actual time studying and researching the topics you spout on about like your anti-Paul rhetoric .. then you too would understand how baffling it is.. im sure youll say youve done your research but then id have to say damn... and you still didnt get it???
Political systems tend to hit the wall of revolution when the truth becomes so obviously that no one can deny it any longer. We should thank Ron Paul for perservering in what is now his third presidential candidacy. In doing so, he is showing even the dumbest of the dumb what has been obvious to some of us for a long time: the press determines who are the candidates. If the press gave Ron Paul any support at all, he would be the front-runner by a long shot.
The other thing Paul has shown is that you can campaign, get coverage, and have a decent install base while maintaining fiscally prudent books. He hasn't got debt. He sleeps in Super 8 hotels, sure, and is wearing the same suit he wore 4 years ago. But he's honest. To win today, you have to run up huge debt, sleep in a Four Seasons, and have a new Italian suit for each occasion.
I live in Australia where it is *illegal* to campaign until 6 weeks before an election. WTF, we're more than a year away in the US? This is just a Murdoch plan to get Repub airtime and more ad dollars fer chrissakes. What next...will the campaign begin the week the new guy is sworn in? Seriously, Americans need to start calling their representatives and demanding reform.
I decided I want Ron Paul for VP, where he will have the time to stick to his core purpose: unwinding the death grip of the banksters. Not sure who for Pres though...Maybe Caroline Hyde from Bloomberg? Oxford educated, purty little mouth and big zoomers:
http://bloombergbabes.weebly.com/1/post/2011/07/caroline-hyde-linzie-jan...
Indeed. But, whether they benefited or not, there's a constituency of opportunists and useful idiots rabidly leveraging this injustice. Never let a crisis go to waste:
http://www.truth-out.org/conservatives-say-it-out-loud-they-hate-democracy/1316786695
What's sad for majority conservatives (not to mention the rest of society) is that they are being crowded out entirely by a minority of whack jobs sponsored by the corporate media.
Interesting that what should be a war against corporate crime has morphed into a "culture war," don't you think?
Whose interests does that serve?
That link pretty much proves the point if you want to find out what progressives are up to look at what they're accusing others of.
It's the liberal democratic (ideal, not party) read of the situation. Note how sketchy and limited it is . . . these lame fucks are way behind the curve. Even that much is news to them. They obviously haven't visited ZH much.
Very good, Proph. You got it.....justice is unacceptable.
What does the application of justice have to do with its results? Justice ought to be applied with no regard to the outcomes of its application and with no regard to the status of individuals/groups. This is where the concept of "blind justice" is derived from and why Hans Gieng's statue on the Gerechtigkeitsbrunnen (Fountain of Justice) depicts lady justice as wearing a blindfold.
Underlying the peoples' rage is the need for justice to fall indiscriminately on those who have reaped it through their actions.
Hmmmm. let's see now " punishing them could lead to huge unemployment, lower living standards, and a lending squeeze." Well, it seems to me we've accomplished just that, without any of these crooks being forced to do the perp walk.
Thats just nasty. Those eyebrows are gonna eat you!
It is amazing what a few subtle manipulations to the face can achieve.
LOL!
looks like the chimp that he is
Saint Douchebag
I don't know who's fucking creepier, Rick Perry or Eric Cantor? I think this guy might be the antichrist.
Great, just what we need, another good ole boy flat earther moron from Texas...how did the last one work out?
at least the collapse is getting fun to watch
Hah, indeed oog, that is till the roof falls on YOUR head. Then, I believe, the fun stops.
They say comedy is the lowest form of culture. And it looks like we have it perfected. Here, there and everywhere. I'm thinking I should stop with my 'serious" stuff and just get stupid, or mean.
Somewhere between stupid and mean, we are falling.
ORI

It is not the speed of the drop, but the depth of the canyon. Or maybe thats backwards. Anyway, freefall is freedom. And everyone knows "freedom is just another word for not hit the bottom yet" (janis) (sober day)
nice Joplin paraphrase Coss. And yep, it's depth is quite shocking. Not SNL, it can be hilarious, but generally, culture. Crazy what passes for that word now.

Note to self: no more beverages near computer
bleh
it's been a couple of decades since SNL was funny, why don't they just let it die?
failer is the new new.
Banzai, you have out done yourself...once again!
forget SNL surprised ZH would waste the space, Alec Baldwin... please spare us why not just run a piece on Krugman
Now Banzai - unlimited time for his genius
ROTFL!!!
Whats really sad in all this is simply this, all but one or two would be better than the smoldering trainwreck we have now.
Its always like this...pick the least offensive, which is the choice we have made for you ;-)
Well said nmewn, the media has already narrowed the field for the GOP. While I agree that anyone, and I mean anyone would be better than the post turtle running the country now, it would be nice to have a level playing field without so much media influence.
Quite frankly, we need the most offensive candidate on the GOP ticket to take the nomination, that would be something!
The most offensive? You mean Huntsman?
"it would be nice to have a level playing field without so much media influence."
Yeah, but that ain't gonna happen...it always comes down to a popularity contest.
A president should have executive experience of some description...either running a company with its sometimes competing departments or a state as govenor with the same problems. It requires known leadership qualities, making tough decisions on hiring & firing, balancing the books and living with the consequences of his/her success or failure. Legislators have always been poor choices for executives or presidents...directionless, muddling along seeking consensus building, not too hot, not too cold, always getting eaten by the bears...lol...and always desperately searching for their spine.
It will be Romney in the end as it stands now, I think everyone knows it. He will have to admit his mistake on RomneyCare and put it to bed...I don't like him,he's too slick but it is what it is. And I say again, Bachman is completely batshit crazy.
Cain has the most necessary experience since he was on the board of the Federal Reserve. Who knows more how to exploit a nation of idiots?
How did you know I was a Cracka for Cain? ;-)
I like to think he looked into the belly of the beast (the Fed) and had his mind made right...clearly thats not the case. But we have to bring our leaders along slowly so their heads don't explode sometimes...lol.
With RP he's right on the Fed but wrong (for me) in other areas. He would sit around as CnC and wait to be hit as I read him. I don't believe in sacrificing citizens lives over my principles. I couldn't do it and wouldn't expect him to...or he's lying about his "non-interventionist" stance.
I'm liberal and conservative or libertarian...but only to a point...as CnC, if I have credible evidence that my people are in grave danger the dogs of war go in...thats just how I feel and what I would do and expect to be done my & my families behalf as citizens, right or wrong...there it is. We don't live in a kumbaya world...it has never existed and never will.
I really don't think that Putin or the Chinese or the four or five guys in the bad disco suits sit around and navel gaze about these things. We shouldn't either.
We are currently in the longest war in American history. We are Nation Building a country that grows opium.
We punished the Taliban very quickly with the Northern Alliance, then we proceeded to stick around.
All we need is some spotters for B2 strikes if they start to concentrate power. No need for occupation.
This empire is not about America, or protecting America, it is about European Bankster Overlords. Cain is their employee / puppet. So is Perry, Romney, et al.
Unless you live in Manhattan or DC, LA maybe, you have nothing to fear from Islamic terrorists. The attack that did take place was a massive failure of the Federal Government at best, yet not one head rolled. Promotions and pay raises and expansion were the punishment for failure.
Paul is a protest candidate, whom they will kill if need be. He is running to get the message out and influence the debate and platform. He is running and not Rand because Rand will run later, and the danger is too great from TPTB right now.
I will vote Paul or not at all.
Currently, we have a lawyer run commission in our county, that claims to be 'non-aligned, non-profit study group' advocating that we get rid of our several small cities' governments and structure and have only a county super government, thereby diluting local citizen power. They claim it is a cost cutting measure. Recently it was revealed that they are funded by Federal Grants. Our way of life is under attack, they are trying to pull government upward and consolidate power. We must fight it in the neighborhoods and small towns, or we are lost for more than a few lifetimes.
To this point...
"Unless you live in Manhattan or DC, LA maybe, you have nothing to fear from Islamic terrorists."
Generally (and I'm only being honest here) I don't give two shits about people who live in those places...they probably feel the same about me. However, when one of us is attacked we are all attacked.
That is one the prime reasons for pulling the individual states together to form a nation...mutual defense. There is no way the state of NY/California could get retribution/justice without all of us speaking as one and united in the defense of each other...no matter what we disagree on elsewhere. There is no point in having a national government if we won't do that basic thing.
Yes, we should already have left those places long ago. Along with closing our bases in Europe...let them pay the price to defend themselves...or not...they have the mighty EU afterall ;-)
And I have always agreed with RP on the Fed and have openly stated so many times.
"Currently, we have a lawyer run commission in our county, that claims to be 'non-aligned, non-profit study group' advocating that we get rid of our several small cities' governments and structure and have only a county super government, thereby diluting local citizen power. They claim it is a cost cutting measure. Recently it was revealed that they are funded by Federal Grants."
This is a recurring problem everywhere. Centralization of anything & everything into the hands of the unaccountable at the local level. The idea is to control everything rural, from a highrise in downtown...it is also "sold" comically as democratic...lol.
We will fight.
6600 people die every day in the US, most from heart disease and cancer, two causes usually but not always associated with old age. I would much rather we spend our resources researching causes and cures rather than empire building and being afraid of when some measley terrorist attack happens (assuming it's not a false flag thing).
The assumption of your post is that we should have the government shift spending to cancer & heart disease research from the savings of cutting the military.
Not private R&D.
So deficit spending, taxation and the size/scope of the federal government would stay at the current high levels. Let me state clearly...I am not a fan of public-private "partnerships" with taxpayer dollars. This is how we wind up with a Solyndra...aka crony capitalism. If a private company has promising research & results it will attract capital on its own.
Flooding any "market" with capital is no guarantee of success, no matter how noble the cause.
Just so we're clear.
I don't think we are disagreeing, I agree with most of what you just wrote. The problem is TPTB took the attacks and turned it into the forever war when the perps are long dead. We can defend America from the continental US, however, the Banksters cannot have an Empire that way.
if I have credible evidence that my people are in grave danger the dogs of war go in
I would like to see it illegal for our soldiers do not fight on foreign soil like Switzerland has. The imperialism we have going on now is not protecting our country. It is only making it more dangerous.
shouldn't we get rid of the fed first? then when we control our own money system , according to our own constitution, then and only then, perhaps we can do this silly thing called voting. but you know and i know this will never happen under the present circumstances. the tennacles of the satanic beast machine are too much embedded into the warp and woof of all of our beings now. like the fallout from chernobyl and fukushima , it has become part of our flesh. we must become new again and the old ways must be discarded. the century of self must be ended and a fresh new look at natonalistic thought must be reborn within our collective spirits...it is our sacred honor. we cannot deny this.
See my thoughts on the Fed above...I agree with RP on that.
We have a nation, a national government, based on the best interests of all the people in the various states combined together...or we used to. It has morphed into what is in the best interest of DC & NYC. This is whats broken.
I'm not going to win any popularity contests around here for saying this...but...we ask too much of it...the central government...that is at the heart of it.
The Fed is a contrivance of Congress to let the central government off the hook for spending & taxation through the destruction of the currency. Yes the bankers are involved up to their eyeballs in this dark arrangement...but it is the people asking their representatives for shit we collectively can't afford that keeps the debt machine going.
i have said it all along. it takes two to tango. they offered and we accepted. now , how do we get this monkey off of our backs before it is too late? are they willingly going to go quietly into the good night? or shall we?
http://vimeo.com/6632755
on a lighter note, i think i want one like jesse is driving.......
I'll take two!
unless my eyes deceive me, they are running straight pipes. i didn't know that was street legal. oh well.........

The government doesn't need the Fed to print too much money and have inflation. It can do that perfectly well without the Fed. Without the Fed, at least the government could print money without paying interest on the money it prints.
Thanks for posting! I would not have seen it otherwise and appreciate a few unexpected laughs to break up the steady beat of cryptic news from the global finance world. It will be interesting to see who the big, big money supports (Buffet, Soros, Rockefellers, et. all) now that Barack his crapped his pants....
They'll still support Obama. They love the smell of crap.
SNL is pretty lame, but it's fitting in relation to the GOP debates it portrays.
it is sickening to see all of those puppets standing on stage , moving their mouths like they will say something important, knowing full well we have no choice and it is all controlled .......
Ron Paul would so save the puppies! He just would not do it by federal fiat!
He was walking down the street as a representative of the federal government ... so any actions he would take would be in the time as a government employee. If he rescued the puppies it might be on personal fiat, but it would still be on the taxpayer's dime.
Ron Paul would kindly explain to the puppies they are free to go. 15-20% of the puppies would immediately understand and leave. The rest would call RP kooky and unelectable, dying horrible deaths as they wait for a stuffed suit to lead them out.
lol...you would think all those cute little puppies with their noses pressed up on the glass could "collectively" bust through it...must be that damned new double paned energy saving glass mandated for new housing construction by...
Oh, yeah, never miiind ;-)
I think this is the best comment I have ever read.
A President is subject to enormous influences of persons the Pres, himself, chooses to surround his/her office. The Cabinet and all others in the Exec Branch control the information and advice flows.
Equally important are the personal relationships of private individuals that the Pres has acccumulated and vetted in the long years before even runnunig for Pres. Those persons provide trusted input to balance and cross-check "official" data, like lies, twists, spin and, indeed, omitted data. The Pres's input lines dominate and determine focus, options and opportunities.
If this is a valid test, which candidates pass ?
@Sathington Willoughby +1111111. Great comment and the 15-20% that are trying to wake up the other sick puppies are also being called 'kooky' too. As you can see from the comments on 0Hedge there are many 'dead' pups waiting to be saved.
Amen to that!
Exactly.
In addition, I was unaware that the Federal government was involved in local firefighting efforts.
Statists LOVE to trot out local services as justification for vast centralized governments. At best, that justified the existance of local governments, which Ron Paul is certainly not against. Indeed, since he would bring the troops home, there would be a lot more young, athletic, well trained men to be regular and volunteer firefighters, and GASP, we would actually be able to call up reserves in the case of fire emergencies, rather than sitting on our hands watching the country burn while the national guard is half way around the world.
Ron Paul would save the little bitches, bitchez!
Ron probably has rescued a dog or two in his time, he's a compassionate septuagenarian.
I don't follow this carnival sideshow, but unless Ron Paul has changed his tune, once the "bitches" get knocked up by the "studs" I'm afraid RP would be quietly pushing them out the back door with a pat & "yer on yer own now" - then back to undivided attention for the studly fanboys who love him for his libertarian freedom promises.
woof.
Breaking News: Geithner takes EU Finance Ministers hostage in U.S. Treasury vault.
At 7:45pm Saturday night Washington D.C. Capitol police responded to a hostage situation involving 15 EU Finance Ministers lured to the U.S. Treasury vault by Treasury Secretary Geithner's invitation to a post-IMF cocktail party. To free the hostages, Geithner demands the EU governments adopt the American way to solve the EURO sovereign debt crisis and use leverage like the U.S. did in 2008 to help bolster the markets. Geithner demands the EU act now and not wait for G-20 meeting in November.
After two days of IMF & World Bank meetings desparately devising new ways to lie, cheat, and steal more money from the world's taxpayers, the EU Finance Ministers thought they were headed to a special type of bankers R&R. Geithner's invitation promised "heavy hors d'oeuvres" which is IMF banker code for sex orgies with bank tellers, debtors, hotel maids, and janitorial staff. Instead, as soon as all the Finance Ministers were in the Treasury vault and tingling with anticipation at this exotic venue for a Bunga Bunga party, Geithner slammed the vault door shut, locking the wine-sipping cheese-nibblers in the ice cold vault.
At 11:50pm Hank Paulson, previous U.S. Treasury Secretary, arrived on-scene to negotiate release of the hostages. Hank said, "Timmy means well, but he never worked at Goldman Sachs, and so, he does not have the experience to be a top-notch Treasury Secretary. If Timmy had worked at the Goldman Greek desk from 2001 to 2005 when I ran Goldman, Timmy would have a clue how to deal with Greece and other Euro governments."
"I told Timmy many times that "bazooka" is just a figure of speech. We do not commit blue collar crimes. Kidnapping and hostage taking are for little people...poor slobs. You can go to jail for blue collar crimes. Stick to white collar crimes. Live long and prosper. I'm sure I can talk sense into Timmy." As Paulson walked into the Treasury building he was carrying a gift for Geithner to begin negotiations, a Van Heusen shirt with a bright white collar.

SNL is NBC is Comcast is MSM's controller of the Liberal Spin. Follow the money and it'll get you there everytime.
http://my.firedoglake.com/fairleft/2011/08/29/comcast-gives-obama-500000-charter-schools-sell-out-sharpton-a-permanent-msnbc-gig/
I liked Cent Uygur. Hope he goes back to alt media - Young Turks.
Ditto on Cenk. It seems that he was unwilling to cheerlead Obama. Why Dylan Ratigan is given full rein by the same company is hard to fathom, but they sure as hell got what they were looking for in Sharpton. They don't appear to even give a shit about ratings in his case.
You guys hear Cenk's piece to camera, where he says why he's leaving? That he kept getting told, pretty much, 'don't do that, Washington has been on the phone, you're off-script'?
Damn scary.
New Member here from Germany. Learnt alot the in the last Months from ZH,thanks for that (even if its pretty complicated sometimes) Love the Comments :)
Anyway, for those that don´t know it yet (and this Article is somehow related),Ron Paul is on the "Daily Show with John Stewart" tomorrow (Sep. 26). Should be great.
its been a long dry spell for SNL. so many things on their list to not do satire about. with the GOP primary moving forward at last SNL can come back into its forte and make fun of what they are allowed to make fun of.
I didn't know it was still on the air. It jumped the shark after about 6 years or so. I have not seen it in decades, actual decades.
SNL jumped the shark circa 1981. When Bill Murray left they were just running on fumes. Remember the anticipation of waiting for the latest Killer Bees, Coneheads and Nerds? As for political humor, Ackroyd's Nixon was so good he played it with a mustache and the whole thing just clicked.
Righto. I used to listen to National Lampoon's Radio Hour as well during the same time, it was even better than SNL was at the start.
Live from Jew York, it's Saturday Night Live!!
Sad treatment of Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is a rock star.
Funny that in no debates or interviews, they NEVER mention that Cain ran a federal reserve branch. Ever. You would think they would talk about it since it's ``valuable experience``... but no...
Herman Cain is part of the problem, not of the solution.
I very much disagree. What do you really think the problem in the US is?
Which one did you decide? Okay, now take the other one and get rid of it to the point possible, which means simplify it down to its base function. You can come back to the other one later if you need to, but see how it runs without the proffered culprit. That is how Henry Ford solved problems.
Despite seeming "folksy" Cain is the perfect Federal reserve candidate. They can not do anything effective with monetary policy if the congress critters just go and messs it up the tax code, And this mucking with the tax code is done in true ponzi style, to get the money on the top (warren buffet) and the bottom (the votes). Even Obama and Huntman are going to capaign on eliminating the tax code. Cain would actually do it because if elected, he has the mandate, and again, the Fed needs the tax code fixed to have any leverage on thier tools. Cain knows this implicitly. As you said, he ran a fed branch.
In the alternative to the fiscal policy, If you think the Fed (monetary policy) is the problem, thats fine, but Ron Paul is the only one would would do anything about it. The rest have one of two reasons for that. 1) They are not smart enough to undertand economics. 2) They are like krugman and understand it all too well, and love to abuse the power of it.
Henry Ford would vote for Cain or Paul in 2012
I know it's wrong, but when Huntsman broke into a tirade qua Chinese waiter I just about lost it ROTFL.
When will the media stop pretending and just admit this is all about Jews vs. WASPS (and chinese waiters).
Gosh Ramboy, you really are afraid of Jews aren't you?
No I love Jews and a shmear on my bialy
Would you like a little schmegma on the side?
It is getting very difficult to ignore the Jewish control of the economy, media and government. This morning on Meet the Depressed the host was Jewish [Gregory], the first guest was Jewish Israeli [Benjamin Netanyahu - Prime Minister of Israel ], the second guest was Jewish NYC Mayor [Bloomberg].
Our Supreme Court is very close to being Protestant-Free, being dominated by Jews and Roman Catholics. Yet Protestant is the majority religion in this country. Where is the diversity?
The national media is 100% controlled by Jews, including Fox News [“Rupert’s father Sir Keith Murdoch attained his prominent position in Australian society through a fortuitous marriage to the daughter of a wealthy Jewish family, née Elisabeth Joy Greene. Through his wife’s connections, Keith Murdoch was subsequently promoted from reporter to chairman of the British-owned newspaper where he worked. There was enough money to buy himself a knighthood of the British realm, two newspapers in Adelaide, South Australia, and a radio station in a faraway mining town,” Candour wrote in 1984. “For some reason, Murdoch has always tried to hide the fact that his pious mother brought him up as a Jew.” ].
There has never been a non-Jewish Chairman of the Federal Reserve in its' almost 100 year history. Why? Where is the diversity?
The same people who clamor for open borders and rights for illegal aliens have no problem with Israeli apartheid and fenced and mined borders. Try to cross an Israeli border illegally and you will be killed. I know, I have seen it done in the Golan Heights. Two 14 year old boys were killed by gunfire from a helicopter gunship when I was there for crossing the border in 1984. Why the double standard?
Full disclosure, I was raised a Roman Catholic, and am still a non-practicing RC. I lived, worked and traveled in Israel and have many Jewish friends from that time, and from my youth in Chicago.
Cute. While droolling over the oBlamer for three years, I'm anxious to see how progressive/liberal state run NBC portrays their racist manchild loser Barama. Any candidate debate with the great TOTUS and Obama too, will make good comedy. Though you won't see it on NBC.
When did the comments get all snarky-unintelligent-unfunny...seems like the old marketwatch, yahoo finance chat threads of old.
Too funny and totally sad!
Too funny and totally sad!

Those poor puppies!!
Are elections just horse races - we don't care about the issues but more who is winning? Or do issues matter?
I ask because the media is effectively censoring ideas just because they have decided that Ron Paul isn't going to win.
It is a shameful direlection of duty by the media to censor Ron Paul and the ideas he represents.
Paul
Note during the real "debate" there were ZERO questions about the European Debt Meltdown. Why not?
Note during Meet the Depressed today Bloomberg said the Banksters aren't lending and are holding the economy back because they are afraid they might be prosecuted for crimes causing the housing meltdown. I couldn't believe he said it.
He wants blanket amnesty for Banksters, or they will shoot this economy.
To his credit, he attacked the Orifice of Omaha.
just wait until Bernake gets his wish and banks starting lending and corporations start spending.
There will be a near instantaneous release of $4-5 TRILLION into the economy (before the fractional reserve effects of money multiplier).
double digit inflation will ensue overnight, and Obama and Congress will pass price controls like Nixon did, only to result in shortages of basic goods and services.
If you look at hyperinflation in Germany, Yugoslavia, Zimbabwe, it went from low inflation to hyperinflation in less than a year. Bernake has built a HUGE rock and put in on the top of a precipice and is now trying to get the rock to roll downhill. He doesn't realise he can't stop it once he does. He needs to stop increasing the size of that rock.
Perry gets confused by the word "Europe," thus that question was not asked.
SNL is like an old friend that used to be funny, but still shows up at my house every weekend. I realize that they are basically a lite version of the Bill Mahr show but I still let them in for a drink. Then, before I can stir the drink I want to throw it in their faces and kick them out. When they are gone and I have finished both drinks I vow to never let them in and to cancel those damn channels from my cable package. Then I realize that they are bundled with a bunch of latino, BET and other networks and that my bill is only incrementally higher due to the charges the add for HD services that are waived when you buy the "package".
I am pissed off at myself for not drawing a line and cancelling the whole package. I would love it if channels were payed for individually- more than half would not exist. Now that I think about it; without the government taking half of my income- maybe half the people would not exist. Gault's Gulch is looking more and more appealing every day. I swear all it takes is one more tax increase before I shut the companies down and remove myself as a source of income to the government and unfortunately my employees.
I am an atheist, but if there is a God- let him bless Ron Paul
You are part of the problem. They socialized TV, we pay for all kinds of garbage channels we don't want when we sign up for cable or sat.
I cancelled it all, put up an antenna for the local over the air HD and I have not looked back, I certainly don't miss BET or Queer TV for the Sodomite or Bill politically stupid Mahr or the rest, including all the cable no news channels.
Cut the cord and get free brother.
I agree, I finally did. I criticize others for not facing truths. I am done with supporting those cock suckers.
Cord cut Moe!

SNL shuld just rip on Obama
All Day
And everyday
Wait. Al Franken is one of their guys. They won't do that. They will continue to perptuate the myth that liberalism is "smart." This thinking is driving this country into shyte.
NOT ALLOWED.
They along with majority of media blur the fine line between comedy and anti-rightist propoganda.
They still around?
Comrade Baldwin is a Hero of the Soviet Union.
All Power to the Soviets!
You could run Ozzy Osbourne on the Conservative ticket right now and it would be far better than what's coming out of the White House now.
Anybody but Obama!
Funny?
although I do find SNL funny and believe all politicians should be 'roasted', it saddens me that Ron Paul's message has not gotten through to them.
The 'hypothetical' question of the 'federal government walking past a burning house' is a non-starter as a question. Ron Paul's position is that the federal government wouldnt' be there in the first instance to see the burning house.
Ron Paul has NEVER stated that the STATE, county or private fire protection services that you purchase or your neighbour shouldn't assist you in your time of need. He's saying that there shouldn't be a FEDERAL law stating that you have to save puppies from burning bulidings and then start a federal bureaucracy with a 'Save the Puppies Act' that will require all puppy owning persons to register on a federal register and have their house inspected against fire threats by a federal bureaucrat.
Somebody needs to have them watch the first die hard movie. The "terrorists" were really just "common thieves" but overlapping and over escalating agencies turned the whole thing into a cluster.
That is what the FEMA debate is about. In certain regions of the country, the locals/states want to maintain their own disaster management systems. Other regions want the fed to do it/pay for it. That is the problem with the 10th admendment that most people can not get their heads around, from the lefties to to the libertarians.
Ron Paul gets it, yet SNL and many sheeple think he is the crazy one. Its not about being selfish libertarian, and then later in life sucking .gov teet when you got yours (like warren buffet did). Ron Paul should have trolled them, just like Die Hard and said "The first thing I would do is fire all the local firemen. Then I would send in Department of education special forces to extract the puppies"
Ron Pauls ideas, held by many are about about not letting a government of 350+ Million people get so spread out it helps absolutely no one, and hurts everyone. Whether financial. regulatory or buerocratically.
It's sad that they couldn't do something funny about Ron Paul. Just ripping him about an unfounded accusation (he would allow a house to burn down because he's from the government? He never said that, he wants it to be at the state level) makes them look like stooges for the media who continue to hide and misrepresent the positions of Dr. Paul and his desire for adherence to the constitution.
