Time Magazine FTW

Tyler Durden's picture

A little over a year ago, it was The Economist that captured the Zeitgeist perfectly with its iconic cover Acropolis Now. Little did it know how prescient it would be. Today, it's Time, and unfortunately for Europe (and maybe the west), this cover in retrospect will be spot on yet again.

We doubt any of our readers needs a summary of the items covered in this article but for those who wish to read it can do so at the following link.

Oh, americans love to talk about, supposed, decline of Europe. Let´s see what happens when US finally starts adressing its 10% budget deficit, as opposed to 4,5% budget deficit in eurozone.

Wouldn't that only be a valid comparison if you contrast the EU federal government to the US federal government?

Don't lose sight of the fact that the US is a collection of 50 different nations.

Some of our metro areas have a larger population than some of your nations.

Oh, really? US is a collection of 50 different nations? Perhaps, you need to look up in a dictionary what the word "nation" really means.

by all means, let us speak of europe's decline. let's start with malmo, sweden, shall we? dozens of "immigrant"-infested areas that the cops won't go into? the rape capitol of europe? so bad that the little swedish blondes are dying their hair dark so as to avoid being targeted by the "immigrants"?

sure, the US has its problems, and more to come. still, if I had to bet, it wouldn't be on europe. if for no other reason than all the smart, hungry, talented people left decades ago - leaving europe to depend on the tender mercies of the dole parasites and "immigrants", agitating and rioting at the mere *mention* of a cut in their social 'entitlements'. the last defense is self-defense. which seems to be illegal in europe. sorry for the small print. if you're having trouble seeing it, perhaps you can see better by the light of the burning cars.

Oh, poor you. Another american brainwahsed by your demented right wing media. All talented people left Europe? And let me guess, they all went to America, right? That´s why you´re unable to have ballanced trade for how many, three decades? What´s your number one export item to China? Scrap steel?, yeah, that high tech product that no one else can manufacture.

Immigration? In EU, non-europeans make up 4-5% of society. In US it´s one third and half among new-born. Your country is being overtaken by foreigners in light-speed pace. Habla espanol?

Rape? Typical american, obsessed by sex. You watch too much porn, dude. Go look up some statistics about rape rates in the world and then come back telling me where is it higher, in Europe or US? And in the meantime, you can wetting yourself about Europe´s decline.

Oh and one more thing. You may have as much weapons as you want when you are scared to use them. Europeans are not afraid of their government and go out to demonstrate whenever they´re unhappy with them, even with bare hands. You´re armed to your teeth and yet scared to show your anger, just sitting at home wetting about Europe´s demise while your government´s stealing your money and bankrupting your country. Now, tell me something about cowards. Go, look into mirror to see one.

Americans are too stupid to process a "decline."   They'll keep chuggin' along until they cannot;  their modes of operation are very binary--subtleties are lost on them.

Ignorance makes you resilient to change. As Orwell said, "Ignorance is Strength."  And I'm not saying ignorance is completely undesirable, as there are uses for ignorance.

"poor me", dipstick? heh. MY citiy isn't in flames. I haven't seen a car - any car - on fire in 20 years, and that was due to a gas line leak. I don't have to cower behind a door if a riot ever comes, and self-defense isn't illegal here. (weapons. ugly americans. you know.) as for our immigrnats problem, yeah we've got one: our ruling class refuses to defend our southerm border, the better to impact their corporate masters bottom lines.

but at least our immigrants don't go on rape sprees, or cluster on a city street at prayer time with their asses up in the air. also couldn't help notice how you skipped over the "malmo" thing. typical european: gutless, snivelling surrender/attempted change of subject - but done as arrogantly as possible.

don't bother answering back: I'll see that you get an ASBO if you do. Pussy.

Heh, you fool. I didnt respond on your Malmö nonsense, because I never heard about it. It´s just some drivel made up by your demented, europhobic media.

You call me "snivelling surrender" and then chicken out by declaring "don't bother answering back". Hypocrisy, much? Sure, it´s difficult to have a discussion when you have no arguments. But, at least you have prejudices. Lots of them. Empty head, full of prejudices, congratulation, you just won the first prize in "Clown of the month" competition.

I don't think the party is over just yet....

And I would not be surprised if the death pangs go on and on and on for months or years.

I think most people are expecting a scenario where they wake up in the morning and the world has ended....and I don't think it will happen like that.

Will it take 100-200 years like Rome did to completely collapse?  Most likely Not....and that is mostly because things move in an instant these days....but the concentration of power and wealth at the top...who, more than anything...MUST make sure that NOTHING changes....will do whatever they can....including starting WWIII to make sure the paradigm does not shift too far against them.

Just watch and see....I know alot of peole I talk to are giddy that the financial world is falling apart ....but I don't think it is gonna be the big, world-changing event...where the yoke of financial oppression will be thrown off.....

Nope...I think things will get very, very bad for most people....if, what we think is gonna happen...really does.

I'm just sayin....

Sensationalism will always work in this US driven world. Any timeline before Times front page about Europe thriving?

Propaganda always and always, sucks up useless resources but fill the pockets of some. So not that bad. Serve US citizens what they want (and that is not information) and you are a rich person.

That is the way it is in this US world order.

given TIME magazine's long standing reputation as the mouthpiece and sometimes bully pulpit of American establishment politics as well as its less admitted role as one of the mainstays of Orwellian thought control, it is instructive to peruse the contents of the Henry R. Luce Foundation's latest efforts to ensure homogeneity in the thinking of its extensive readership. The deceptively simple and tidy analysis which typifies TIME's attempt to pigeon hole complex issues, effectively dismissing them from any further more thorough and extensive journalistic endeavor, belies the psychological and behavioristic models which underlie a blatant form of newspeak propaganda which partakes more of the subliminal techniques of modern advertising than real journalism. With its stable of editors and reporters firmly entrenched and embedded in the government think tanks and military and intelligence agencies, one can discern an insidious and barely discernible attempt to shape and mold public opinion into such acceptable categories of opinion as resonate with the long established agendas of what some critics have termed its "media fascist empire".

But, Tyler, this could be "Der Untergang des NullAbsicherung" if we don't get more bandwidth.

For some reason, none dare state the obvious!

Importing populations with average IQs of 80, and attempting to blend those imports into a population with an average IQ of 100 is not a good plan.

But that is what happens when you fail to check your data first, or worse, when egalitarian ideology prompts an elite to deny the data.

We are still hopelessly chained to the pubic manners imposed by political correctness, coddling rioters betting on the appeasement of increased welfare benefits as the reward for their violence.

When the money runs out, the riots will have to be stopped the old fashioned way, and at least expense.

IQ is a relative measure of capability.  Go take your prim ass to some wilderness and see if some "dumb" tribesman won't have a thing or two to teach you about life.

Nothing more disgusting than having smug little assholes gloating over scores based on a socially/culturally subjective assessment.

edit:

And it's cretinous individuals like yourself that unknowingly enable the social stratification that leads to malcontents and rioting.  You're no better than any powers that be that see "us" as useless eaters.

You make some good points Spitzer but the biggest vested interests are in seeing China as the next reserve currency. Secondly, being the peg requires being the global policeman, something Europe is far from being in a position to do.
