Paul vs Paul: Watch Paul Krugman Dispense Keynesian Brilliance, Debate Ron Paul Live
What Would Krugman Do? (obviously, that is rhetorical). Supreme Keynesian Voodoo acolyte Paul Krugman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul go head to head on fixing the U.S. economy at 4pm ET today on Bloomberg Television’s “Street Smart.” Watch the live webcast beginning at 3pm ET for Krugman, who will be guest-hosting “Street Smart” until 5pm ET. On the heels of the recent "controversial" NYT piece, where Krugman called on Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to do more for the U.S. economy, Krugman will be asked to explain exactly how more stimulus will create jobs and put the economy back on the growth track. Also just what rug will the trillions in additional debt be swept under. Then at 4pm, Krugman will face the ultimate debate with Ron Paul, who has called for drastic cuts in spending. Grab your popcorn now.

Tyler, why aren't you firing off some questions for the Professor from your twitter account to the bloomberg hosts????
No mention of Ron Paul's pending appearance? I heard a plug for Richard Fisher (that may be interesting) for 4:30, but nothing about Ron Paul at 4:00.
Nevermind :)
Why does the host and Krugman assume that a higher interest rate will be better for employment? What's the general reasoning, if any, there?
Must be some reality distortion field.
"Reversing austerity is key to fixing unemployment."
He really is more talented comedian than most out there.
I swear he sounds retarded, he really does! My money is on Ron Paul, but neither are all that articulate so it should be somewhat painful to watch. Do u think Ron pulls out the Silver bullet and a mirror? Just to be sure he knows who he is dealing with. This should be interesting, hoping Ron is on his A game, Krugman doesn't have an A game...
If Krugman EVER blinks his eyes, will the Mother Ship come for him?
I hope these two geeks resort to fisticuffs. That's fucking television.
YEAH BOOIIIIIIII
Krugman: Deer in the headlights look.
Trouble is Ron is not always the most articulate despite being spot on most of the time
He's is living up to that analysis.
My God - Please get a moderator with a clue...Trish is worse than either of these goons.
During Ron Paul's opening comments, Krugman looked like a deer in the headlights
Money and non-money. That's some Nobel shit right there.
Money and non-money. That's some Nobel shit right there.
damnit, Krugman is trying hard to bore us back into not paying attention. HOLD STRONG!
did krugman just say he wants a free market? dear lord. i'm going to be ill
Good fucking LORD!
No kidding. If wearing a shit-eating grin and giving unsubstantiated cliams equals winning a debate, then Krugman gots this bitch wrapped up.
"World War 2 provided best generation and best economy."
He really itches for WWIII.
Conclusion is easy... I'd say send in only divisions of economists and politicians. Maybe give them printers as weapons.
Go Ron go!!
Krugman says barter and Ron Paul is the crazy one.
Best performance from Ron Paul that I've seen in quite a while. And yes, Krugman does look like a deer in the headlights.
Krugman: "We're not sure where the line between money and non-money is."
EXACTLY! THAT IS THE PROBLEM!
Dr. Paul: "The Romans and the Greeks debased their currencies and they did it without a computer."
CLASSIC!
Krugman: "Economic policies after WWII stimulated growth."
No you dipshit, the U.S. actually made things and there were career jobs, not to mention the explosion of agricultural productivity due to oil based fertilizers, pesticides, machinery, and transportation. Growth and expansion. We are now post-industrial, post-service, and into an information economy (iPad economy). Non-growth. Money printing and debt will only make things worse.
Krugman believes in markets yet FED intervention in markets. What?
yeah, Ron should skip trying to tie the Roman empire to the fed..It was 2000 years ago, and they had a lot of land to manage and not enough of a military to keep the vanquished under their thumb. Then he forgot the whole dark ages thing when more than 99% of the world couldn't read or know when to take a bath. Rome couldn't 'manage' their empire after a while.
Krugman must be on a book tour or seomthing, maybe he is finally making payment for the BS Nobel Peace Prize he receieved.
http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/krugman-fix-economy-exact-op......
It was pretty painful as I suspected it would be. Ron just isn't articulate enough....
The two reporters are clearly clueless, the guy forgot Ron Paul's name - what pretty talking heads!
in part two of the debate Krugman argues for more broken windows
bastiat doesn't apply in a fiat money system. there is money for everything when its value is based upon the efficiency of the printing press.
This female moderator sucks terribly. Christ give her the cane.
I think she's a closet Ron Paul fan - she is throwing some pretty easy pitches for RP.
It is AMAZING progress to have/allow a debate like this in the mainstream media. The tide is turning.
What was Krugman talking about regarding bartering being legal?
He was reminding you of your options if you don't like his Central Bank monopoly.
Uzbekikhazakistan...that country that Herman Cain referenced
Yeah and you cant pay taxes in gold Krugman
He was talking about giving you one of his books if you let him feel you up.
Krugmanism explains why secular bear markets precipitated by massive debt bubbles last about 20 years. Way to go Paulie, only 10 more to go with your mentality. With President Paul, it would have been done with in a year.
Dr. Paul is holding his own thus far. I would have liked him to call Krugman out on his comment on Japan and how theyre able to hold a significantly higher percentage of debt. Japanese debt is primarily held domestically. That gives them the ability to sustain their economic environment quite a bit longer although it will implode eventually regardless.
Wow what a condescending piece of shit that krugman is.
they (keynsians, statists, neo cons, etc) are all this way
I don't agree. I appreciate a good debate. But this POS was showing clear disdain for everything Ron Paul had to say, laughing, rollign his eyes like a 12 year old kid.
try debating a know it all keynesian. ask him to justify his theft through inflation and taxation
Keynesianism is more of a religion than an economic policy. As in all religions, you need to take the hard part on "faith".
It doesn't matter what RP says, Krugman will be named the winner because he's the 'easy' way out, until the crash.
Has Krugman been Kremlined?
Rep Paul's closure was much better thenKrugmanns I snuck into the boardroom to watch this. What boggles my mind Krugmann states is is concerned about savers but his statements are not congruent with helping savers. Inflation is the way to go and that really bothers me. He never really explained how this will help employment. At least Paul did his best to hold his own as opposed to the party fed line.
Ron knows his stuff but is not a great speaker. Paul shut down the pretty lady siding with the party line. He hit the nail on the head with the fed about business not feeling good. Hard to plan when politicians cannot even pass a budget. This has nothing to do with the Fed until you add the politicians.
Meh, entrepreneurial planning is soooo 20th Century.
You can't bust a budget if you don't have one. Winning the future.
So Krugman loves pre-Bretton Woods II America, and loves post-Bretton Woods II monetary policy?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance
I can't handle looking at the snickering bitch.
Best. Debate. Ever.
i was hoping for a real head-to-head cage match.
You can turn it off now RP just left.
Wow, another biotch that needs a biotch slapping. From another biotch, of course. Condescending pieces of shiot.
this 'debate' sucked. Ron Paul spun in circles and trish regan is nothing but a TV wasteland villager.
In what way was he spun in circles? I thought he acquitted himself very well.
he was all wet about the Roman empire. I mentioned that furthur up in the thread.
krugman's dismal epilogue was even more lame. He equivocated on any prognostication, and totally choked when he wouldn't accuse bernanke of fraud.
the bernank has been an accessory to fraud since the meltdown. That includes the administration I voted for, and their pathetic complicit DOJ.
dr paul actually did very well...and not just because i'm a supporter and eco-nerd...krugman looked like a fool
I want to see Kyle Bass and Paul Krugman go head to head. That would be biblical. Kyle would destroy him.
Making a bad guy out of austerity is really Krugman's main play. His logic is akin to telling a heroin addict that they should keep shooting up becuase if they suddenly exercise austerity from their drug-habit it is going to be painful.
Krugman: "Paul wants to go back 100 years"
Paul: "Krugman wants to go back 1000 years"
Pretty much sums it up.
The way things are going, we may well be going back 10,000 years.
Folks, we are going to have to retire the award for "Eternal Douchebag"
It is now obvious that no human being, or any other being that has ever lived or will ever exist, could possibly beat Paul Krugman for this award....
Alfred Nobel must be spinning in his grave
.
Paul Krugman, Douchebagosaurus Rex
Alfred Nobel never established a prize in economics. The "Nobel Participation Trophy in Economics" is a fraudulent attempt to buy legitimacy for the "science" of economics.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sveriges_Riksbank_Prize_in_Economic_Science...
How could Ron Paul let Krugman get away with saying that the Fed didn´t cause the Great Depression?
Agreed. All he had to do was recite the lecture Schiff gave during Bernanke's propaganda tour to refute his assertions and Krugman would have dissolved into a puff of 1's and 0's.
It wasn't strictly the Fed that caused it as the central banks and nations of the world were fighting over many things like the remaining debt and compensation for such that remained after WWI, and the dollar just wasn't as ubiquitous then as it is now, and other reasons like the lack of knowledge about farming and the cause of the dustbowl as well as stock market fraud.
Lol he's stuttering
Did Paul Krugman really claim that the dollar hasn't lost that much value in the last three years?
Compared to a certain non-volatile metal?
Exactly. It hasn't depreciated much vs. the other currencies derpeciating down the toilet.
Apparently, Krugman and the Wall St. Journal are our buddies.
"History says that moderate inflation (like now) is good for everybody."
"Printing dollars does not increase gas price".
Probably he thinks people barter or steal gas.
Krugman on easing: "We need enough until the problem is solved."
How's that working out for you, Paul?
Krugman: "This is a very special time. Deficit spending is bad, until it's good. Food and gas is not being driven by FED policy and money printing. Inflation is good for the working class. Why shouldn't the FED try whatever it can with QE? We are in a slow spontaneous recovery."
Recovery?
Spontaneous? Wait, I thought the FED was responsible, I thought central planning was saving the world?
What a complete fool.
PhD = Piled Higher and Deeper.
Paul Krugman must be an alien because he has more than one mouth to talk out of (and that incidentally may be the reason he is calling for an alien invasion....makes on wonder.....hmmmm).
Krugman must have taken his meds today. He seemed much less the rabid dog, though his ideas are still insane.
Delusional, ignorant, naïve and raving double-agent bankster shill Paul Krugman—needs an intervention. Please remove all sharp objects from Paul’s possession, or he may hurt himself.
the dollar hasn't depreciated?
Of course not, you silly helot. Gas and food have just gone up spontaneously. It's like magic or something. You could see the mystification on Krugman's holy face.
Krugman went where no on has dared to go on Bloombetg TV. When asked about coming GDP number "Blablabla...who really knows?....blablabla"
lol! I like how the cover of his book says Paul Krugman 'Winner of the Nobel prize in economics'.
There is NO Nobel prize in economics!
paraphrased..
"im a big spending guy until the recession is over.. and then ill go ba to being a deficit hawk"
Ron is debating a Jew on a Jewish owned mass media corporation. I wonder how he will fare?!
Google is being sued by the French for calling a Jew a Jew.
looks like he whooped ass to me
so much for your assumptions
Richard Fisher aced it, his take on TBTF was spot on.
Mommy, why does the man on the TV with the beard look like a ferret and not make sense when the words fall out of his face?
I'd rather see Krugman go head to head with Robert Wenzel.
http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2012/04/my-speech-delivered-at-new-...
At least Krugman said it's a depression...in a round about way:
http://www.bloomberg.com/video/91687041/
The headlines should state "Krugman Declares Depression; Particularly In Europe!"
If you watch the following clip it is titled "No Jobs for College Grads"
There is only one thing certain in todays science of economics...if you bust your ass, work hard and save your money...you will be screwed. We used to have a different understanding of how the fable of the ant and the grasshopper ended.
Apparently here on ZH some think those working people that did that all of those years are now holding them back. Give me a break.
We used to have a different understanding of how the fable of the ant and the grasshopper ended.
This is a new story that starts like "the ant and the grasshopper" but ends like "the frog and the scorpion".
Fuck you Bloomberg. The terminal is fine, I can go get what I want and move on. Does anybody have a copy that isn't geared to numerous commerials? I feel like I am lost in somebody's voicemail.
After watching this I believe I have it all figured out:
Paul Krugman has an incredibly small penis, which is only slightly smaller than Bernank's, which in turn is smaller than Greenspan's.
That's the only way the past 20 years could possibly make sense.
Don't get me started on Lloyd Blankmind....I'm not convinced he even has a penis.
Who won?
Paul.
Kidding aside, the Paul who will and may as well should get what he wants will put the pedal to the metal so that we can maybe finally get this car over the edge of the cliff and then finally have a reset. Let's get this slow-mo out of control car ride over with already.
In the meantime, like MSM and everyone else, I'll just go back to taking more Delusionol (tm).
Paul nails him...it was the liquidization of debt (around 6:20) to which Krugman bails off into a Friedman strawman.
Again, Friedman was anti-Federal Reserve Bank. but he recognized the Federal Reserve was "the fact on the ground" at that time.
No one was talking about doing away with the Federal Reserve or even auditing that black hole back then. Friedman would have looked like a nut to even broach the subject.
Krugman, the socio-economist, then practices building the strawman that then follows on when any socialist is trapped...
