A World On The Verge Of War?

Tyler Durden's picture

Here is a summary of where the world stands:

From Reuters:

Members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) are providing non-military assistance in Syria and Iran may get involved militarily if its closest ally comes under attack, commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Sunday.

Jafari's statement is the first official acknowledgement that Iran has a military presence on the ground in Syria where an 18-month-old uprising has left tens of thousands dead.

Western countries and Syrian opposition groups have long suspected Iran has troops in Syria. Iran has denied this.

"A number of members of the Qods force are present in Syria but this does not constitute a military presence," Iranian news agency ISNA quoted Jafari as saying at a news conference.

Qods is an IRGC unit set up to export Iran's ideology. It has been accused of plotting attacks inside Iraq since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

Jafari did not indicate how many IRGC members were in Syria but said they were providing "intellectual and advisory help".

The Islamic Republic has backed Syria's President Bashar al-Assad since the crisis began and regards his rule as a key part of its axis of resistance against Israel and Sunni Arab states.

Jafari also said Iran would change its policy and offer military backing if Syria came under attack.

"I say specifically that if Syria came under military attack, Iran would also give military support but it ... totally depends on the circumstances," he said.

Next up: satellite photos somewhere "confirming" beyond a reasonable doubt that weapons of mass destruction are being prepared for usage, and a preemptive war is the only way to not only preserve peace, but to be awarded the Nobel prize in said activity.

What is perfectly obvious to anyone but the most jaded and biased, is that the West will use any opportunity of conflict escalation which in turn will send crude, and gas, prices soaring, to commence the launch of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve release, arguably at just the right time to push down gas prices, which as we showed on Friday have never been higher on this day in history. "Right time", because any SPR release will have the short-term benefit of boosting Obama's re-election chances even more, even if it means surging gas prices after the election.

The reality of course is that the bulk of upside pressure on commodity (crude and gas included) prices is as a result of the Fed and ECB's recent monetization expansion and liquidity tsunami, which does the usual: soothes the symptoms for a few weeks, crushes volatility and creates the impression that all is well.... if only to lead to yet another far more grave outcome. And since there is now officially no limit much debt the Fed will monetize, there is so no limit on how high commodity prices will go.

So while in reality any war, supposedly one which is "regional" and "contained" will merely be a smokescreen to the central banks officially taking over ownership of the insolvent developed world, the likelihood is that a war will neither be "regional" nor "contained" as both countries that make up the axis of a future hard-backed currency, China and Russia, have already made it quite clear that any intervention by the US in regions they themselves consider strategic, such as the Senkaku Islands, Syria and/or Iran, will result in retaliation.

And retaliation by one or more rising superpowers to another fading superpower, will inevitably lead to yet another World War.

Needless to say, nobody could possibly foresee war as the outcome to the global depression ver 2.0: certainly not the Princeton historian who will be, more than anyone else, responsible for it.

A US source is making stuff up, to continue with the war-mongering inertia ... how surprising.

Iran source denies reports of military presence in Syria

Sunday, 16 September 2012

By Al Arabiya with agencies

A source close to Qassem Suleimani, head of Iran's Quds force, has denied media reports that members of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps were in Syria providing non-military assistance to Bashar al-Assad's army.

The source in Iran's Quds force told Al Arabiya that the reports were “fictional and absolutely untrue,” adding that Mohammad Ali Jafari, head of Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, stressed that the Revolutionary Guard has no presence in Syria and Lebanon and that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of any country.

The U.S.-based Radio Farda’s website and Reuters had cited General Jafari as saying that there are Iranian troops in the Syria, but this doesn’t mean that the Islamic republic will “intervene” in confrontation with forces against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. The source close to Suleimani, however, told Al Arabiya that Jafari has denied having said so.

Curious rant/smear as my only comment was the following:

"A US source is making stuff up, to continue with the war-mongering inertia ... how surprising."

Which is apparently true.

Tylers post quoted this [my bold emphasis]:

--

Which means the content of my post was entirely relevant to the topic, as reuters asserted that Ali Jafari has said Iran may become militarily involved in Syria soon.  But someone from Ali Jafari's in-circle denied that was said.  Plus a source close to the Head of Qods also said what's being reported about pending Iranian military involvement in Syria, has no basis, and is not what has been said by Iran.

See how point and counterpoint works Habu?  Are you able to keep up?

Western MSM outlets are claiming Iran is about to go into combat on the ground in Syria and Lebanon, while Iran is saying they have not said that at all, and are not intending to do that.

This seems a little bit relevant to me Habu.

But curiously, it's a side of the story that you, for some reason, don't want voiced or clarified ... is that right?

So, GlomarHabu, it's you imitating Badgad-Bob here.

Jack's total lack of surprise.

I believe I used the word inept or unqualified or another word to describe obamas entire policy world. I do apologise since I left out the entire Socialist Democratic Party. This really says it all.

"Democrats apologized Wednesday for using a fleet of Russian warships as the backdrop for a Democratic National Convention tribute to U.S. military veterans, blaming a vendor for the mistake."

Yeah, a vendor ... in obamaworld its always someone elses mistake .  Blame the vendor, blame the youtube film maker, blame a guy whose been out of office for years but whatever you do perpetuate THE BIG LIE and never ever take responsibility for your own administration.

Anti-Islam film “did not warrant” US deaths, Iranian official says

September 16, 2012   share

An anti-Islam film made in America that has enraged Muslims in several countries did not justify the killing of the US ambassador in Libya, the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday.

"Definitely this did not warrant killing," General Mohammad Ali Jafari told a rare news conference in Tehran.

It was the first time a high-ranking Iranian official has not fully backed a protest last Tuesday in the Libyan city of Benghazi in which the ambassador, another US diplomat and two American members of a protection squad were killed.

Iranian officials have previously come out in full support of the display of outrage, with the Foreign Ministry suggesting the deaths occurred because of Muslim fury over US foreign policy.

While the feelings of Muslims were "hurt" by the film, "the only thing to do was to protest in front of embassies," Jafari said. "Due to their anger, this incident [the killings] happened."

[So basically he's saying it was unjustified, and should not have gone that far, but is really the result of pent-up anger at US foreign policies, and not due to the 'movie' that triggered the dis-proportionate over-reaction.  In other words the killing is a result of US foreign policy creating the pre-conditions for such over-reactions to incitement to occur, leading to dangerous reactions that can go way too far, too fast]

So can you explain just how you are so enthusiastic in your belief that the statements you quoted, made by an Iranian pooh bah, General Mohammad Ali Jafari, are somehow:

" A voice of stabeeleeetee, a sense of proportional response to contrived and inept attempts at offence and religious cultural incitement"

I know, that's why I gave you guidance. You don't have much experience with rational thought and it shows. Propagandists aren't known for their logic, just their hype.

BTW..which workers paradise do you call home? And why do I think you either won't say or will lie about it ..also a hallmark of propagandists.

One day we will find out there exists or existed a cadre of obama propagandists, directed by a cut out for the White House who were used for the express purpose of perpetuating obamas hatred of the US.  Disinformation channeled by script readers/writers who haunt the media and the Internet ..it would fit the Alinsky model to a T and serve the socialist agenda.  So just read the script and write what they tell you to write. You'll do just fine since there's a darn good chance obama will get a second term. I mean lets face it he's already got the vote of tens of thousands of dead people locked up.....and the brain dead.

In my post immediately below this one I asked you what rational thought process were you employing. Then I thought.."Well this person isn't going to have a clue about what you're asking"

So allow me to tee it up for you. This ain't the entire body of thought on thought but it may help you get started in your own research.

Lets begin with Aristotle.

The three classic laws of thought are attributed to Aristotle and were foundational in scholastic logic. They are:

  • law of identity
  • law of noncontradiction
  • law of excluded middle

This is not a timed event but good luck formulating your thinking.

Sun, 09/16/2012 - 22:23 | 2802063 GlomarHabu
GlomarHabu's picture

This may also help you.

The laws of thought can be most intelligibly expressed thus:

 1.Everything that is, exists.

2.Nothing can simultaneously be and not be.

3.Each and every thing either is or is not.

4.Of everything that is, it can be found why it is.

There would then have to be added only the fact that once for all in logic the question is about what is thought and hence about concepts and not about real things.

Well, OK sweetie, your enthusiast fascination for ostentatious philosophical examinations is OK, if that's what you really want to do honey.

Does look a wee bit like a spineless avoidance of frank and open review of present-day issues that maybe you have a problem facing up to and processing.  Fortunately I don't live in a police-state that summarily declares honest, sane and forthright people 'insane' and irrational, and then locks them up without cause, justification or review:

Susan Lindauer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMwP0cmfKuE

Or maybe it's just that some lying minor CIA toss-pot didn't want to hear what she had to say about truthful things, that should certainly have been discussed openly and fully at the time, and could have prevented a criminal and unjust war that murdered hundreds of thousands, but was instead declared to have a dodgy thought-process, sectioned and basically sent into an internal exile.

You've got your head so far up your ass you think you can see sunshine.  Your technique is to try and establish yourself as some kind of authority - in this case you try to project yourself as an intellectual, and as successful - you also manage to come off as arrogant and narccisstic.

Then instead of dealing directly with the post and the observation - you try and deflect the issue into a philosophical analysis of rationality and its applications.  In this way you hope to discredit the poster by proving he doesn't have a degree in philosophy, and therefore cannot be expected to be able to make observations and draw conclusions because he isn't qualified.

Sorry - I'm affraid being a tard is no barrier to being a smarmy smart ass troll these days, which is obvious on quick inspection of your ambiguous posts, where you take all day to try and make your .. pointless.

The original post does not fail any rational critique.  Regardless of whether the Iranian official believes what he says, regardless of whether he means it - what he said is 'these deaths were not justified' - and in the context of the evidence, where the original poster made that OBSERVATION - that constitutes a rational and sane response by the Iranian official in question, and being a public statement implies a rational and sane regime.

The context in which this observation is made, is one of propaganda that implies that Iran and its regime are crazy, imbalanced and not empathic to global norms.

Your blah blah blah - spout some crap about rational thought, project yourself as an authority and then try to deflect the issue away from the evidence as presented is a failure - as is your brain, a complete failure.

You are a psuedo intellectual, you can remember what you read, quote it - but you obviously have no idea what it all means.

Also, even if I had read Plato and Aristotle, I don't need to quote them to project an image of myself, I'm sure their lessons are easily applied in context.

However, since you like quoting so much, here is one (paraphrased) that you might benefit from;

'If I know one thing, its that I know nothing - and I barely know that.'  - Socrates

Additionally, if you really want to take on the laws of thought I introduced you to then you'll need to study Aristotle and the others I cited. I studied them, still do, but it's highly doubtful that you have the capacity to argue with the conclusions of those intellectuals. If you believe you're smarter than Aristotle then more power to your ego. I know I'm not. That’s why I studied them.

But go for it, it should be funny as all get out. Somehow I don't think Aristotle or the others are in any jeopardy from your meager intellect.

She's in there because Obama had to negate her politically for the 2012 nominations.  So he offers her the Sec of Statism job, she hesitated, didn't want to take it, so he flattered and fluffed her ego and the vital contribution she would make to his team, in the media.  And she decided maybe it was the best offer she could get and felt compelled to take it. What was she going to say?  She had already bragged during the 2008 nominations race that she was the iron lady of the Oval Office, ready to take that 3AM phone call, when it was all on the line, etc.  So she couldn't climb back down from all that BS.

And Obama made it so that if she said no, she would probably be dead meat in 2012 as a result.  She was meant to fail in the job, just not quite so badly.  Either way, she'll go after the election.  In the end, Obama doesn't have a real birth certificate, so he's been winging-it the whole time.  Naturally, the results are horrible.

here is the gambit. nutandyahoo has decided to go all in. he knows if he waits until after the election that oabama now looks assured of winning obama has no reason to follow israel into iran. nut will attack before the election(his election) to force obama's hand into supporting the war. it will be set off by a false flag attack upon some usa asset(mossad loves symbols so it could be the enterprise or the statue of liberty or anything in between). the thinking is obama will have to support israel in order to win the election.

patraeus and dempsey are now both onboard the anti israel train which leads one to believe the usa military, particularly the navy, is in the middle east to protect the flow of oil, not israel. if the usa does not come to the aid of israel, israel will unleash it's nuclear arsenal on everyone they feel like is not helping them(samson option) but the world will be rid of israel in the end.

the embassy demonstrations and the killing of the ambassador are just the warmup for the main attraction for the neocons. buy your popcorn now while the line is short.

if obama was smart he would take nutandyahoo out or, just maybe, the whole thing is meant to have a justifiable reason to take israel out.
