Median household income peaked at least 15 years ago in 81% of US counties. As WaPo reports, [2] for a stunning 210 counties, income peaked over 45 years ago!!!

What does all this mean?
Simple - adjusted for inflation, the great majority of middle-class houoseholds are earning far less money than they did years ago.
