America's Warfare State Revolution
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/05/2015 11:04 -0500It is impossible to overstate the magnitude of the warfare-state revolution that transformed the federal government and American society after World War II, but modern-day Americans continue to remain convinced that their system of government has never changed in a fundamental way. They continue to play like their governmental system is founded on the same constitutional principles as when the country was founded. It is a supreme act of self-deception. The truth is that America has now had two different governmental systems: One without a national-security apparatus and one with it. It seems to us that it’s a no-brainer as to who was right and which system was better in terms of freedom, privacy, peace, prosperity, and harmony.
Venezuela Is Still Out Of Toilet Paper, Hotels Declare BYOTP
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/04/2015 20:00 -0500When you’re running an epic socialist experiment while simultaneously attempting to preserve the legacy of a now-deceased “anti-imperialist” geopolitical legend and your country’s most valuable asset has unexpectedly become a liability, it’s sometimes necessary for the common man (and woman) to make sacrifices...
John Kerry - Nobel Peace Prize Nominee?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/03/2015 18:45 -0500"I think Kerry will get an enormous amount of credit for pulling it off. He will be in line for a Nobel Peace Prize... He could go down in history books as being a monumentally important character, like Jimmy Carter with Camp David..."
Or "He could go down as Neville Chamberlain at Munich. Both are possible here."
What Would Happen If Martial Law Was Declared In America?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 04/02/2015 21:25 -0500In recent weeks, there has been a lot of concern that an upcoming eight week military exercise on U.S. soil known as “Jade Helm” is actually a dress rehearsal for the imposition of martial law in this country. As our world becomes increasingly unstable, and as our society rapidly decays from within, many believe that it is only a matter of time before the executive branch will have sufficient excuse to use the extensive martial law powers that it has been accumulating since 9/11. When that day arrives, what will our nation look like? What would actually happen if martial law was declared in America?

Reuters Asks "Who Is More Of A Threat: Obama Or Putin", Surprised By The Answer
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/30/2015 11:21 -0500People in the United States feel under threat, both from beyond our borders and within them and as Reuters reports, when asked about both U.S. President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was a pretty darn close call. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds a third of Republicans believe President Barack Obama poses an imminent threat to the United States, outranking concerns about Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Meanwhile, the world is certainly worried about America with about one quarter (of respondents from 65 countries) naming the United States as the greatest threat to world peace.

Chances For Diplomatic Solution To Ukraine Conflict "Slim", Soc Gen Says
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/29/2015 14:35 -0500"Chances for a diplomatic solution to current geopolitical tensions appear slim. The irreconcilable characterizations inside and outside of Russia of current geopolitical stress lead us to believe that it is unlikely that understanding / compromise between political parties involved can be achieved via diplomacy," Soc Gen says, in a new note that outlines the current state of affairs in Russia.
Introducing The "Overseas Contingency Operations Account" – Washington's Crony Capitalist War Slush Fund
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/28/2015 13:45 -0500The imperial spiral into the stratosphere of stupidity is well underway. With zero accountability for those in power, there’s no way to realistically stop it before crash and burn. The best we can hope is to bring the responsible to justice afterward and pick up the pieces by going back to the Constitution.

Turkey Devolves Into A Full Police State: Law Grants Unlimited Powers To Weaponized Police Force
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/27/2015 07:00 -0500While a source of much schadenfreude by its neighbors and casual onlookers, Turkey has become a glaring example of what happens to a formerly respectable nation as it devolves entirely into a banana republic with not only authoritarian overtones but a police state to boot. And earlier today, Turkey's conversion to a full blown police state was complete when, after weeks of heated debates and brawls in parliament, Turkey’s government passed a security package expanding police powers, along with an online surveillance law and a discretionary fund for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to fund covert operations.

Why Is Russia Building Massive Underground Bomb Shelters?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 03/26/2015 18:30 -0500Did you know that the Russians have a massive underground complex in the Ural mountains that has been estimated to be approximately 400 square miles in size? In other words, it is roughly as big as the area inside the Washington D.C. beltway. Back in the 1990s, the Clinton administration was deeply concerned about the construction of this enormous complex deep inside Yamantau mountain, but they could never seem to get any straight answers from the Russians. The command center for this complex is rumored to be 3,000 feet directly straight down from the summit of this giant rock quartz mountain. And of course U.S. military officials will admit that there are dozens of other similar sites throughout Russia, although most of them are thought to be quite a bit smaller. But that is not all that the Russians have been up to.
