Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/23/2015 08:01 -0500The fallout from the emissions scandal that triggered a harrowing plunge in Volkswagen's shares and now threatens to derail the German economy continues as Detusche Bank delivers a sobering assessment, the Green party blames Berlin, BaFin lanches an investigation, and the town of Wolfsburg panics.
Bill Gross' Latest: "Mainstream America Is Being Slowly Cooked Alive"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/23/2015 07:19 -0500"Mainstream America with their 401Ks are in a similar pickle. Expecting 8-10% to pay for education, healthcare, retirement or simply taking an accustomed vacation, they won’t be doing much of it as long as short term yields are at zero. They are not so much in a pickle barrel as they are on a revolving spit, being slowly cooked alive while central bankers focus on their Taylor models and fight non-existent inflation."
The Fallacy Of "Buy Land - They're Not Making Any More"
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/16/2015 19:45 -0500“Buy land — they’re not making any more!” is an old investing chestnut, and a common sense one to boot. Economically, it’s also completely false. As counterintuitive as it may seem, we make land all the time. It just doesn’t look like land.
Public School Students Are The New Inmates In The American Police State
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/14/2015 21:05 -0500If you want a nation of criminals, treat the citizenry like criminals. If you want young people who grow up seeing themselves as prisoners, run the schools like prisons. But if you want to raise up a generation of freedom fighters, who will actually operate with justice, fairness, accountability and equality towards each other and their government, then run the schools like freedom forums. Remove the metal detectors and surveillance cameras, re-assign the cops elsewhere, and start treating our nation’s young people like citizens of a republic and not inmates in a police state.

Dis-Integrating America
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/29/2015 20:55 -0500To many Americans, even many who did not vote for him, the election of Barack Obama seemed to hold out the promise that our racial divide could be healed by a black president. Even Obama’s supporters must concede it did not happen, though we would, again, argue angrily over why.
Tesla Loses More Than $4,000 On Every Car Sold
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 08/09/2015 08:58 -0500With the usual two year delay, others such as Reuters, are starting to notice that under the Tesla hood there are nothing but cockroaches. And now that the growth "story" has taken a back seat following the latest guidance cut in deliveries, fears that the company will have to dilute shareholders to keep the "story" afloat, are rapidly emerging. Case in point, Reuters calculation of a fact that was known to most observers but certainly not to retail enthusiasts who "bought the stock just because others bought the stock", i.e., that Tesla loses about $4000 on ever car it makes.

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/30/2015 11:40 -0500While the Puerto Rican creditors' bargaining power on the island is to put it mildly, negligible, especially after the budget director made the imminent default into a crusade of poor versus rich, saying he won’t redirect cash from its operating budget to make debt payments, an unexpected supporter has emerged thousands of miles from the beleaguered island: New York's socialist mayor Bill DeBlasio. As CBS reports "New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio demanded President Obama and Congress immediately come to the island's fiscal rescue." "It's the federal government's obligation to act, because they can't stand idly by and watch Puerto Rico fail," de Blasio told a crowd of hundreds of Puerto Rico boosters gathered on the steps of City Hall.

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/27/2015 13:36 -0500The Chinese stock market crash has hit the world’s largest auto-market hard. For now, China is a dream turned sour for the Michigan-based Ford and General Motors and Germany’s Volkswagen. The risks are enormous and will become greater with time.

'Wanted' Obama "Hope" Artist Has None Left, Turns Himself In To Police
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/14/2015 19:00 -0500World-renowned street artist Shepard Fairey - infamous for creating Obama's "Hope" image during the 2008 presidential campaign and more recently the "obey" street art - has apparently run out of it. He was arraigned today, after turning himself into Detroit police, on felony charges that he illegally tagged public and private property in the city. Detroit Police last month said Fairey set a bad example for other artists when he plastered his signature Andre the Giant posters on buildings in and near downtown.
