Ignorance Is Not Bliss
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/15/2015 13:07 -0500You’re doing yourself a disservice if you don't have a basic working knowledge of what, say, a volatility surface means. We're not saying that we all have to become volatility traders to survive in the market jungle today, any more than we all have to become game theorists to avoid being the sucker at the Fed’s communication policy table. And if you want to remove yourself as much as possible from the machines, then find a niche in the public markets where dark strategies have little sway. Muni bonds, say, or MLPs. The machines will find you eventually, but for now you’re safe. But if you’re a traditional investor whose sandbox includes big markets like the S&P 500, then you’re only disadvantaging yourself by ignoring this stuff. Ignorance is not bliss...
'Socialist' Sanders Vs 'Crony' Clinton: First Democratic Debate Begins - Live Feed
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/13/2015 19:52 -0500Admittedly it's not Mayweather-Pacquiao, but Las Vegas is buzzing ahead of tonight's rumble-in-the-jungle between Bernie and The Battle-axe. While Joe Biden remains the most notable absentee (or will he?) there are three other 'debaters' to carry water and towels for Hillary and Bernie as they drag one another left-er and left-er and more populist-er. In the pre-fight Sanders has lobbed some awkward Iraq War questions at 'hawkish' Hillary but as Clinton's 2008 campaign manager notes, "she's rolled out Latinos for Hillary, Women for Hillary, and met the leadership of Black Lives Matter; she has checked a lot of boxes walking into this debate."
Fortress Confirms Novogratz-Led Macro Fund Closure After Bad Brazil, China Bets
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/13/2015 10:17 -0500“After careful consideration and analysis, we have decided to close the Fortress Macro Funds and return cash to our investors... But we have had an extremely challenging two years, and I do not believe the current environment is conducive to achieving our best results."
Lawmaker Calls For Study On Links Between Pharmaceuticals And Mass Killers
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/07/2015 16:30 -0500“We have to look into what is being prescribed and what is in these meds just like clinical studies. Why don’t we do studies on the medication all of these shooters were taking and take that medication off the market? Obviously, medications can alter your mind just as alcohol can alter the mind..."

Despite the arguably undemocratic, obfuscating nature of our nation’s campaign finance laws and the blatant corporatist agenda mandated by the Supreme Court, let’s attempt to break down the major sources of political spending so far in the 2016 presidential election. You may be surprised to find out who is donating money to your candidate — and how that contribution may affect future policy positions.
80% Of All New Home Buyers In Irvine Are Chinese
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/30/2015 17:41 -0500"We are seeing more globalization as Southern California has become a destination for international buyers," said Mark Hughes, chief operating officer with First Team Real Estate, covering the Southern California market. "Eighty percent of new construction in Irvine last year was sold to Chinese buyers. International buyers are driving home prices up and sometimes out of reach for many local residents."
Case-Shiller Home Prices Disappoint (Again), Tumble Most In 13 Months
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/29/2015 08:09 -0500For the 5th month in a row, Case-Shiller home prices missed expectations and dropped 0.2% MoM in July (the biggest drop since July 2014). Year-over-year, home prices have been stable around a 5% increase for 6 months which seems oddly linear and seasonally-smoothed, but broad price gains YoY also disappointed again, rising 4.7% (against 5.2% expectations). San Francisco and Denver continue to see the highest YoY gains (10.4% and 10.3% respectively) and Phoenix posted its 8th consecutive annual gain - the longest streak among the 20 major cities Case-Shiller track.
More American Cronyism: US Government Selling Visas To Fund Luxury Apartment Buildings
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/11/2015 16:30 -0500Another day, another story highlighting just how completely corrupt and sleazy the U.S. economy has become... The U.S. government is subsidizing the wealthiest developers to build projects for the wealthiest Americans. Someone must have taken a class taught by the Federal Reserve. Just another day in the imperial Banana Republic.

#Wynn-ing? Casino Magnate Joins Trump Campaign
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 09/04/2015 14:15 -0500In yet another somewhat surreal twist in The Donald's path to The White House, Fox Business reports the long, sometimes contentious relationship between Donald Trump and Steve Wynn has taken another turn, with the Las Vegas casino magnate serving as an unofficial adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. Having known each other for 30 years, Fox's Gasparino notes that they have clashed in the past (Wynn on Turmp in 1998 "He's a fool," and Trump on Wynn "he's a very strange guy.") but in recent years both have been critical of the leftward tilt of the Democratic Party and president Obama.

Biggest "Hedge Fund Hotel" Implodes After Judge Ruling Sends Caesars Stock Plummeting By 40%
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/22/2015 14:19 -0500Some know it as one of the longest running Las Vegas pre-bankruptcy dramas. But what Caesars Entertainment really is, is the biggest hedge fund hotel in "special situation" history: with "investors" such as Paulson, Omega, Canyon, Soros, JMB, Scoggin, Och Ziff and many others, this is quite literally the who is who of biggest and baddest US hedge funds.
Donald Trump: A False Flag Candidate?
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/13/2015 21:00 -0500Trump has been playing the media with his supposed presidential ambitions for years, but it was clear then that it was just The Donald doing what he does best – promoting himself. And so the question jumps out at us: Why now? Although we have no concrete proof of the theory, there’s plenty of circumstantial evidence. His ties to the Clintons, his past pronouncements which are in such blatant contradiction to his current fulminations, and the cries of joy from the Clintonian gallery and the media (or do I repeat myself) all point to a single conclusion: the Trump campaign is a Democratic wrecking operation aimed straight at the GOP’s base. Donald Trump is a false-flag candidate.
