Otto Warmbier Has Died, Family Blames "North Korea's Torturous Mistreatment", Trump Condemns "Brutal Regime... Will Handle It"

Just days after North Korea released Otto Warmbier after holding him hostage for 17 months, his family has just reported the sad news of his passing.

Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor in North Korea, convicted of subversion after he tearfully confessed he had tried to steal a propaganda banner.

The University of Virginia student was held for more than 17 months and medically evacuated from North Korea last week. Doctors said he returned with severe brain damage, but it wasn't clear what caused it.

Family Statement:

It is our sad duty to report that our son, Otto Warmbier, has completed his journey home. Surrounded by his loving family, Otto died today at 2:20pm.

 

It would be easy at a moment like this to focus on all that we lost - future time that won't be spent with a warm, engaging, brilliant young man whose curiosity and enthusiasm for life knew no bounds. But we choose to focus on the time we were given to be with this remarkable person. You can tell from the outpouring of emotion from the communities that he touched - Wyoming, Ohio and the University of Virginia to name just two - that the love for Otto went well beyond his immediate family. Otto went well beyond his immediate family.

 

We would like to thank the wonderful professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who did everything they could for Otto.

 

Unfortunately, the awful torturous mistreatment our son received at the hands of the North Koreans ensured that no other outcome was possible beyond the sad one we experienced today.

 

When Otto returned to Cincinnati late on June 13th he was unable to speak, unable to see and unable to react to verbal commands. He looked very uncomfortable - almost anguished. Although we would never hear his voice again, within a day the countenance of his face changed - he was at peace. He was home and we believe he could sense that.

 

We thank everyone around the world who has kept him and our family in their thoughts and prayers. We are at peace and at home too.

Quoted by Bloomberg's Jennifer Jacobs, on the death of Warmbier Trump said "at least he got home to his parents" and added: "It's a brutal regime and we'll be able to handle it." It's unclear just how.

Melania and I offer our deepest condolences to the family of Otto Warmbier on his untimely passing. There is nothing more tragic for a parent than to lose a child in the prime of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Otto's family and friends, and all who loved him.

 

Otto's fate deepens my Administration's determination to prevent such tragedies from befalling innocent people at the hands of regimes that do not respect the rule of law or basic human decency. The United States once again condemns the brutality of the North Korean regime as we mourn its latest victim.

And here John McCain who wants to “state the facts plainly: Otto Warmbier, an American citizen, was murdered by the Kim Jong-un regime.”

… Doctors said he returned with severe brain damage, but it wasn't clear what caused it. From what I hear, neither sleeping pills nor Botulism had anything to do with Warmbier’s condition. The Norks, most likely, took a page from the CIA’s playbook. A regular Microwave Oven’s door-switch can be easily rigged, so the MWO can be turned on with the door opened. An open MWO could’ve been placed next to Warmbier’s head and turned on for a few minutes. THAT would’ve fucked up his brain really badly. This “procedure” turns a perfectly healthy person into a plant and it is undetectable later on, unless the brain was “fried”, literally. The Norks did not invent this horrible shit, but judging by the poor guy’s veggie-state, they may have used it. Who in their right mind would even come up with this evil shit??? BTW… The “Open MWO treatment” is rumored to have been used at Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, and some Black Sites in Albania, Romania, and Lithuania. The Ukrainian Junta, supported by the CIA from the get-go, has been using this “procedure” on an industrial scale – many of those arrested for supporting the break-away republics were later released in exactly the same condition as poor Otto Warmbier. Sadly, the caliber and quality of our military has degenerated to the point where it looks bleak. The special forces are still top notch but  the average grunt is sadly stupid, very much like the average American back home.As you say, if these guys cannot see a billion ton huge cargo ship coming toward them, how in the world are they going to shoot down a speeding tiny nuke missile way up in the sky?8 years of Soweeto has consequences, even for our military.

couldn't agree more.  a million plus dead at the hands of the u.s.and, why go?  read the orphanmaster's son if you want to see how n.k. is bleeding into the u.s. via 9-11.   imo. the reason they killed (brain damage) the young man was to obtain control of his mind.  why the aipac and the likud/mossad just will not trust trump: because he has never been properly vetted.  he is not a "made man".

Yeah, practically ALL these "groups" travelling to NK are actually evangelists for one church or another.I think it was in the book My Holiday In North Korea that I first heard about it, all these bible bashers are sneaking in under false pretenses (and in Direct violation of NK law) to "save" the poor benighted denizens of the hermit kingdom - whether they want it or not. And - actually NOT.  The NK's VERY explicitly say DO NOT COME HERE AND DO THAT.Yet still these fools go there anyway.Darwin Awards anyone...

Unfortunately (or mebbe not) the “Open MWO treatment” from regular microwave ovens is complete BS.Unlike cucumbers or hamburger, living humans have a circulation system which dumps the excess heat out of the body.If you tried this stunt (and the Navy did) you would just get sweaty. The ONLY part of your body which is sensitive is the eyeball, where the circulation is much less and the heat will accumulate and cause damage.Now maybe if they left the poor fuck inside for a few hours it would dehydrate his system enough to the point of cooking the brain, but he would be stinky dead.
