Furious Trump Lashes Out At Merck CEO After Council Resignation: Attacks "Ripoff" Drug Prices

Well that didn't take long.

Seconds after the resignation of Merck CEO Kenneth C. Frazier from the president's Manufacturing Council:

"I am resigning from the President's American Manufacturing Council.

Our country's strength stems from its diversity and the contributions made by men and women of different faiths, races, sexual orientations and political beliefs.

America's leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry and group supremacy, which run counter to the American ideal that all people are created equal.

As CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism."

President Trump has responded, via Twitter, to the resignation (and lambasting) of Merck CEO Ken Frazier...

And now we have the news cycle narrative for today.

The first reaction is in...

Trump is IMO totally unsuitable to be president, but he would be a very very good opposition leader. He's sharp with (140) words, straight to the point in his criticism and does not pull punches. Unfortunately the US does not have a tradition of sharp debates like in the UK parliament.Where it all starts to go tits up is when you have an impulsive trigger-happy guy like that in the Oval Office.

Memo to the Donald: The missus and I are forced to spend hundreds of dollars a year on Shrub 43’s Medicare part D subsidy to big pharma for drugs we do not take. That is why Merck and the others are able to charge extortionist prices. … get a clue now, if Trump could come up with a similar alcohol plan for seniors....... I just might change my mind about big government.....  Of course, I could always revert to free market cheap CIA Afghanistan crack or heroin laced with a nice measure of capfentanil…butt . …that might not work out so well....

Agree, I'm sure Frazier was sick and tired of the hatred spewed at him by the tolerant left for being on the panel and he was just itching for a chance to bail.  I'm also inclined to condemn Trump for a classless act but this guy just implied that the Trump is a racist and associates with Nazi's...but somehow Trump's tweet is over the line.  With that being said, if Trump truly wants to take on the hecklers he desperately needs better and more witty tweets.  This is the equivalent comeback of a 3rd grader.

Is this because of the damn Virginia stuff?  Trump bent over backwards for them, and still he wasn't contrite enough?  About time the PC police were ignored. Fuck em.  The majority of people in this country are tired of the PC bullshit: AA, diversity, gender equality, etc. What ever happened to the best person for the job?  Nope, have to check off as many boxes as you can for HR.  I've seen this firsthand, and of course it's me that has to fix all the problems that those check boxes cause. I know I'm pretty tired of not only having to make up for their inadequacies, but also getting beaten up for being me while I do it.Fuck that.Remove all bullshit "equality" laws.  The only thing the government should do is ensure that you are viewed and treated equally before the law. Any "making up for" past discriminations is merely discriminating.  So what happens in 50 years, do we get to cry to have the deck stacked in our favor because we are being discriminated against now?pods

If affirmative action laws were replaced by laws that were based on economic means, then actual justice would occur. All in need, regardless of race or minority status, would benefit from the new means based law, and the nation would grow stronger and unified.Race based affirmative action laws exist in order to anger whites. It was and is a 'poison the well' strategy designed to scuttle the programs right from their inception. During the first Democratic primary debate, Jim Webb of West Va. said that affirmative action should be means based, not race based, because West Virginians need the economic help, but the population is largely white. The Marie Antionette Democrats laughed at him. The assumption by the Democrats was that the economic need of poor blacks is solely due to their skin color and the economic need of poor whites is solely due to lazyness. The Democrats are in the business of using pity and charity to anger whites. The purpose of these programs is not to help people. It is to anger whites and make them hate blacks. This is a guarantee that these programs will always be unpopular and innefective. They divide the American people. This was the intention from the start. On top of causing whites to hate blacks, these race based programs and attitudes like PC also make blacks narcissistic. Blacks, knowing they need the economic help regardless, go through cognitive dissonance and justify the help by adopting the role of entitled victim. It's not hard to understand how they do this, once you see the mechanisms of the poison the well strategy. What else are blacks going to do? As a demographic, they are at the bottom of the economic ladder. History does play a big part in this. Black poverty and racism is a problem in America, but poisonous charity is not the solution. But nobody alive today caused the bad history. The Democrats want working class whites to bear the tax burden for correcting history. The wealthier whites don't have any skin in this game at all. Their part of the fiscal burden is unnoticeable. It's the white working class that has to bear the fiscal weight of affirmative action and similar programs. And on top of this, the Democrats push the idea of white guilt and white priviledge. Does anyone really believe these are strategies designed to improve our society, or do you believe that these are strategies to divide and conquer? The poison that is being shoved down our throats is that helping blacks has to be conditional on accepting white guilt. It's not hard to understand how promoting white guilt is poisonous to American society. Who wins from this strategy? The answer is that the elites win in the form of tax cuts for the rich, cutting social programs from fiscal policy, and using the planned failure of affirmative action as evidence that less government is always best, and de-regulation is always best. Who wins in this type of political climate? Corporations and banks. These failures of race based programs from the 60's helped change Americans' attitude towards government and helped start the process of financialization (and austerity) of the 70's until today. The answer is to fix poverty, regardless of race. Lower the cost of living by busting up monopoloies, and so on. Make earned income able to pay bills. If the Democrats were really concerned for the well being of all people, they would have run a 50 state campaign in 2016, like Sanders did and still wants to do. The candidate who can bring us all together will have to do it via social class and common purpose. No more narcissism, snobbery, and hate. The question people should be asking is, why did the Democratic party in Charlottesville waste its political capital trying to remove the statue of Robert E. Lee? If they truly care about the people who need help, why doesn't the Democratic party try to help not just poor people, or just poor people of color, but all people in economic need? The Democratic party is largely made up of concern trolls. Their concern for the well being of others is fake.

Pods, do you really think there is an even playing field for African Americans? do you really think that women get paid the same to do the same job?I would guess that you are white and in your late 50s to early 60s.you don't know what discrimination is because you haven't seen it. Its subtle, its in the workforce, and it needs to go away. Your "best person for the job" is great if people truly are race agnostic but they aren't. Just look at the racist posts on this board. Playing the whoa is me, I am white and discriminated against is just baseless.

Saying it is always discrimination is pretty ignorant.  It isn't.  Look at the field of software engineering.Saying it is subtle, is just evil.  How do we "fix" this subtle racism?  We have had laws in place since before I ever started working.  Have they worked? Is racism why we have great countries that everyone want to go to, and everyone else has shit countries?

perhaps it's a problem in some industries.  in my own profession, however, woman and African Americans are a hot commodity.  In the field of software development, pretty much everyone who earns a degree is a white or Asian man.  Any given corporation has a huge "diversity" problem in the tech department because of this, and they compete hard to get the very few women and african americans who are qualified for the jobs.

I am an owner of a company in the tech field and I base pay on talent and hard work. Some of my females employees make more than the males it really depends on skills and effort one puts into it. I was lucky to be discriminated against when I first got out of college. No one would hire me because I was the wrong color or sex (it was the beginning of equal opportunity laws, yeah right). So I started my own company and was very successful and if I would have been hired by anyone of those companies than turned me down, I would have been stuck in a dead-end job with no chance of advancement.

Nigger, please.  As a small business owner, I hire the best people I can.  If I could get a woman for $0.75 on the dollar and the woman were equal to the man in terms of performance, I'd ONLY hire women.  Same thing with niggers.  If there were a vast arbitrage opportunity caused by something OTHER than performance, people like me would take advantage of it.

We all deal with bullshit in the workplace and in hiring. Making excuses, like Im too old or my skin color was not right for them, or Im the wrong gender or my sexuality was improper for them does nothing but help people excuse themselves when someone else is selected - be the selectee any variable of traits. It is best that the setback is taken in stride and keep trying. Almost always, every success is preceded by many many failures. It is those who keep fighting who persevere in the end. All of this racist sexist bullshit never has gotten anyone anywhere - and nor will it ever.Get the shit out of your eyes and get in the game if you want to win. I do not care what your personal variables are. Being in the game means surviving the setbacks and keep playing to WIN! Get in the game, or shut the fuck up and go cry to your mama. Fucking losers.

While Trump has trash talked hundreds of people, he has yet to trash talk Putin, Netenyahu or David Duke. Since there are no dots to connect between these three, why is Trump treating them with kid gloves? Could it be that he is afraid to fuck with the alt-right, the Jews or with someone who just might have some bad blackmail shit on him? If so, it proves that Trump is able to control his tweets, after all.

Bay of Pigs, I know you from Mish's blog, and I know you to be a smart guy. That's why I know that you know that Trump had to sign that sanctions bill, because, otherwise, Congress would have overridden his veto. Hence Trump's signing statement:

“While I favor tough measures to punish and deter aggressive and destabilizing behavior by Iran, North Korea, and Russia, this legislation is significantly flawed,” he said. “In its haste to pass this legislation, the Congress included a number of clearly unconstitutional provisions.”

Let me guess. Why does not Trump fuck with:

  • Putin? Two reasons. First, Putin's people use(d) Trump businesses for their money laundering. Second, Russia is a prize player in an upcoming US-China confrontation. Remember that the Russia has been the decisive factor in the WWI and WWII.
  • Israel? Zionist Banking Mafia owns the USA.
  • The South? Without the South support, Trump is a dead man.

Unwillingly, Trump started a fight and now he has only to choices either be Qaddafi or Lincoln.
