Florida Governor Activates National Guard As "Monster" Hurricane Irma Approaches

With the monster Cat-5 Hurricane Irma fast approaching what looks increasingly like an inevitable Florida landfall later this week, Governor Rick Scott has just announced that he has activated 100 members of the Florida Air and Army National Guard, with an additional 7,000 members expected to be activated Friday morning. Per the Miami Herald:

About 100 members of the Florida Air and Army National Guard were activated Tuesday to begin preparations for Hurricane Irma and all 7,000 members will report for duty Friday morning, Gov. Rick Scott said.

In activating the Guard, Scott said if additional resources are needed before Friday, “then I stand ready to activate as many guard members needed to support our aggressive preparedness actions.”

“With Hurricane Irma now a category 5 storm, we must do all we can to prepare our families and communities for any potential impact from this major weather event,” Scott said in a statement. “We do not know the exact path of this storm, but weather can change in an instant and while we hope for the best, we must prepare for the worst.”

As we pointed out earlier this morning, Hurricane Irma has recently strengthen to a Cat-5 storm packing sustained winds of 180 mph with gusts of up to 220 mph just as it approaches it first landfall in the Eastern Caribbean.  Meanwhile, the NHC Atlantic Ops twitter page also confirmed earlier that Irma is now the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic basin outside of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in NHC records (for more details see: "Monster" Irma Is Now The Strongest Atlantic Hurricane On Record, Florida Preps For "Catastrophic System").

Meanwhile, activation of the Florida National Guard follows Governor Scott's move last night to preemptively declare a "state of emergency."

Of course, with FEMA resources already spread thin in Southern Texas, Florida is going to need all the emergency services personnel they can muster.

Some of the best friends you could have in Florida if a big Hurricane hits would be the much maligned Red Necks and the Billy Bob's. They have the Boats, the 4x4's, and lot's of Guns and Fishing gear and Military experience in their vast ranks. They will not be going thirsty or hungry even if Florida goes Sub-Aquatic. They will not be the Looters or the Looted either. It's just another day to them, just a little more grandiose than usual, damn near fun, in fact. What, with the Floatin Yankees situation an'all. People who hunt Boars and hunt Gators and now several family recipies for Snapping Turtle... They will be just fine, No safe spaces required or desired.

majority of those who live in cheap flood zone housing and oceanfront beachhouses are on federal flood insurance welfare. there have been a number of documentaries exposing how huge numbers of people cash in on getting their houses knocked down by stoms every few years, some very wealthy people even. there is also an entire builder industry based on rebuilding these houses every few years while i have to buy private insurance for a house that costs more when i'm not even in a flood zone. had enough of this shit already, if you want the benefits of a flood zone discount then you fucking enjoy when a hurricane comes in every few years and washes away all your shit

Now we're lucky if we see cops sent to the campuses but even that's just for show as they will be ordered to not interfere with the AntiFa, BLM, and BAMN scum. When the truck with clubs and shields for the scum arrives, that's the signal for the cops to disappear.Such is the state of play now in the Indispensable Nation, the Exceptional Nation. Seditionist mayors and governors and cowardly police leadership. Cops on the scene are just there for theatrics.

One needs to revisit what is 'right' and what is 'left'The political spectrum makes MUCH more sense if you label the left 'Total Government" and the right "total Anarchy"and if you dont like the word Anarchy substitute "freedom"THEN you will see that someone who cheers people being shot by Guardsman is totally TOTALLY on the LEFT.Tmosely=leftist extraordinaire!

Not so fast, 77 - there have been some recent findings re: Kent State:

8/2/17, The Kent State Massacre Never Happened. An anonymous reader has submitted this paper for publication. Four non-dead in Ohio.

..well, at least Gov Scott is taking a "proactive approach." If people want to stay behind---that is their personal call.Where would you rather be? A voiceless set of leaders in Houston? Or a Governor Scott who has the balls to call out alarms. Hedgless--nice retro picture from Kent State, 4th May 1970. One item might be of interest to you---have you ever been to Cambodia?

If you live along ANY coastline, and don't maintain a constant state of readiness.... well, I don't want to be that guy that rubs it in your face, but you set yourself and your family up for failure.  Everyone, EVERY PERSON, should have a plan and some supplies for survival, even if it is a short term plan!  Waiting on the National Guard or FEMA is NOT a plan.  Of course....I am preaching to the choir here on ZH, but I felt the need to vent.Vent off....moving on.
