FBI Reportedly Investigating Harvey Weinstein

The FBI has opened an investigation into Harvey Weinstein for alleged sex crimes, the DailyMail reported on Wednesday evening, a move that reportedly came at the behest of the DOJ which instructed the bureau to investigate the mounting allegations leveled at the movie mogul. The move comes amid rumors that Weinstein plans to head to Europe for sex rehab – leading to fears that Weinstein could attempt to pull a "Roman Polanski" where he lands in some non-extradition country in Europe to dodge U.S. prosecution.

The FBI can both look at whether he has committed any federal crimes in the U.S. and prepare extradition proceedings if he remains in Europe.

The Mail writes that while it is unknown whether the DOJ order came directly from Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the probe will likely be seen in a political light given Weinstein's friendship with Trump foe Hillary Clinton. Additionally, it is not yet known if Sessions gave the direct order or if Trump requested the investigation, however the president has previously said he wasn't surprised by the sexual harassment and assault claims made against Weinstein.

Trump said shortly after news of the shock report on Thursday: 'I've known him for years. I'm not surprised.'

Among the allegations against Weinstein, which the FBI is expected to examine, is that he forced Lucia Evans, a student who wanted to be an actress, to perform oral sex on him in New York in 2004. And since New York State has no statute of limitations on rape and criminal sexual acts - its legal term for forced oral or anal intercourse - Weinstein may be out of luck if Evans, or any other number of women who have stepped up in recent days, decides to press charges.

Ironically, even escaping to Europe may not help the scandalous former movie exec: So far five accusers have given accounts of attacks in France, while allegations of attacks in London have also surfaced – any of which could lead to charges there. Additionally, the FBI has field offices in both countries and could assist prosecutors there with their cases.

Weinstein was a big donor for Hillary Clinton, who kept silent for five days after the accusations emerged, before finally denouncing her longtime friend in a statement on Tuesday;

"I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior."

She has, however, remained silent on the crucial issue of the vast amount of cash Weinstein donated directly to her and her family.  The move by the DOJ comes as it emerged the movie mogul has taken on top criminal defense lawyers Blair Berk and David Chesnoff. Berk has represented A-listers like, Mel Gibson, Johnny Depp, Britney Spears, Kiefer Sutherland, and Lindsay Lohan, while Chesnoff’s clients have included Vince Neil, Bruno Mars, Paris Hilton, Leonardo DiCaprio and the family of Michael Jackson.   The pair will join his expanding legal team following an article in the New Yorker, which alleged three women were sexually assaulted by him.

Up to 30 women have now come forward to make allegations of sexual misconduct

You know it's not just the crime - it's the coverup. I'm a member of SAG-AFTRA Union in LA. I'm confident based on conversations with fellow actors that the union itself had to have had knowledge of what this scumbag was doing to young actresses. The union supposedly has a hotline and process to handle complaints like the ones against Weinstein - you know - in addition to various set dangers and contract violations - things like groping, harassament, & rape. Any full FBI investigation should include SAG-AFTRA and whether or not they followed up on reports and complaints. The SAG Wilshire Blvd leadership is controlled by producers like Weinstein - pretty much an open secret among the increasingly powerless rank & file SAG membership. However, the corrupt union leadership is probably safe. But they shouldn't be. And for that matter nor should the leadership of the LA Times, LAPD, the DA, CA Labor Board & etc. I'd love this be the collapse of the whole rotten house of cards in Hollywood.

Best part of this entire ordeal is to watch Hillary squirm as the spotlight is cast on the fact that it's ALL about the money for her....Hey, Clinton Foundation- tell us about some of your work lately in Puerto Rico, Texas, and Florida....  How bout the fires in California-  you know, where your biggest donors live.....Hey Hill- how bout show your REAL support and re-gift the money that Weinstein gave you towards the victims?Yeah, we thought so........

I was SAG-AFTRA back in the day.  Kinda Taft-Hartley'd my way in after getting a gig or 2 getting work when I was non-union. A choreographer spotted me at a gym and just had to have me dance a tango with a woman in Melania Trump heels, around a showroom full of Chryslers with balloons dropping from the ceiling & confetti cannons blasting away. I think I might have singlehandedly bankrupted Chrysler before Lee Iacocca came along & saved the day. (or maybe it was Ricardo Montalban's fault). Anyway ~ one of the other things I did back then was get on WHEEL OF FORTUNE. So, you go through the test process (which is kind of like a lightning fast game of hangman), then, if you can pass that, they put you & others through a mock game session (I guess to make sure you don't geek out when the cameras start rolling). I guess I caught Merv Griffin's eye. He was fruitier than a nut cake. Another Hollywood (((Jabba the Hut))) like Weinstein that had a lot of influence and could make or break careers. That fucking closet Liberace used to then call me up personally all the time at my home whenever he had a new game show to pitch to the studios and need simulated actors/players. I went to one or two, but then I caught on to what ol Merv was really after and never went back. Kind of turned me off about everything Hollywood. I'm of glad I never wasted any more time with it after that.

This sounds somewhat Weinsteinesque:

In 2005, Trump boasted on Howard Stern’s radio show that he liked to come into the dressing rooms of the pageants he owned.

“No men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in, because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it,” Trump said in the leaked audio. “‘Is everyone OK’? You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody OK?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so I sort of get away with things like that.”

If that ain't taking advantage of young women, without their consent, that what is. If he had gone into a woman's locker room, while young women were in various states of undress, he would have been brought up on charges.

"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump once said about the convicted sex offender. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it -- Jeffrey enjoys his social life."

None that I know claim actual penetration. One claims that after she massaged him he "forced" her to allow him to perform oral sex on HER. A black woman (if I googled correctly) now claims he made her perform oral sex on him, I think she would have kicked his ass.

Another says he was butt naked - but was cover up by a robe (so not naked) - and asked her to watch him. Paltrow claims she was groped but there are pictures of her smiling happily, arms around one or the other, after that date. Paltrow also does not tell us just what constituted "groping", were breasts, butt, grabbed? During that time Jolie flouted that she slutty and remember her false claims Brad Pitt abused their kids.

For most of the others - ANYTHING - can now be defined as sexual harassment/abuse. Touch an arm, try a kiss, ask if they are interested in fooling around, a proposition to go back to the hotel room etc.. It is not sexual abuse to tell someone you will help their career if they have sex with you.

One woman did file a report of groping right after she says it happened. She has some credibility. The other lost much credibility by waiting to jump on a band wagon, taking happy photo's with him etc..

It all started with Mia Farrow's son seeking to further his career with a women's abuse piece about career favors for sex, from what I can tell. Going after his creepy father with claims he abused his sister has gone stale.

I do think they guy is creepy, any such conduct with employees means getting fired and really stupid. But most claims are questionable and others not criminal.

Trump was putting on a show and was for all intents and purposes making sure his employees were good enough to appear in a beauty pageant......(Ok im not being serious he was just inspecting hot nubile naked females). But what you are saying, people should not be made to stand in front of people of the opposite gender, in various stages of undress, as a part of their employement?  And anyone who participates, under the guise of just part of my job or the business, is really just a pervert. So all of those female sports reporters interviewing naked football players are really just perverts.  I knew it.

Right now the FBI knows their name is mud.  What a glorious opportunity for them to try to salvage at least a few crumbs of their once-good reputation.  I don't like Harvey's chances in the coming months.  I just can't see 'any' possibility that they won't find ample reason to slam him so hard they'll hear it in Korea.
