Remember The 2016 "Russian Attack" On The Internet? (Spoiler Alert: It Wasn't Them)

Authored by Constantin Gurdgiev via True Economics blog,

In 2016, a bot, named Mirai, wrecked havoc over the global internet with massive waves of DoS attacks on anything, from French telecoms, to U.S. web services, to Russian banks, to African airports and beyond.

Per Wired, "As the 2016 US presidential election drew near, fears began to mount that the so-called Mirai botnet might be the work of a nation-state practicing for an attack that would cripple the country as voters went to the polls."

Of course, the minute there is any suspicion of the 'nation-state' actors behind the attack, we know that is the code word for 'the Russians'.

And, of course, given the sheer number of 'security research' lackeys eagerly awaiting for the U.S. or UK or EU dollars/pounds/euros in grants and subsidies, the 'Russian' spectre loomed large in the wake of Mirai havoc. Here's a snapshot:

But, in the end, the famous DoS attack was down to just three U.S. studentshttps://www.wired.com/story/mirai-botnet-minecraft-scam-brought-down-the-internet/?mbid=social_twitter.

Which, sort of, begs a question: how many 'security experts' of the 'Russian spectre looms large over everything' variety have lost their lucrative contracts with the Government, the media and the think tanks that provide platforms to the endless Russophobic hysteria?

My bet is: none.

Like in the good old days of the Soviet empire, you can't get fired for lying in Pravda...

The NSA Utah Data Center and similiar facilities/organizations are built based upon this type of information whether true or false.  As long as it is believed true there is a good chance will pass some quick bill to provide funds for anything.    Once the funds are there true or false no longer matters.   Some Senator/Rep has a new facility and jobs in his area, more votes  and on and on....and we give up a little more freedom, not sure how much is remaining, it's hard to measure.

Oh, come on: After decades of American [isolationism], FDR was slow to get into WWII. It was the Europeans who were stoking war every five minutes.

1) Native Americans ~ There were some wrongs committed against the Native Americans, but they, too, did their share of violent things, like scalping innocent settlers who were just setting up ranches.

2) Germans ~ Please, they murdered 6 million of their own people, bureaucratically, methodically planning it, and invading a bunch of other countries, including France and Russia, with the US playing a bigly role in saving Europe from deadly fascism at a huge cost of US lives.

3) Japanese ~ Again, please, they attacked the USA at Pearl Harbor, killing thousands, and initiating America’s entrance into WWII, and if we are attacked again, our government will fight back.

4) Soviets ~ After WWII, the USA gave back the land of conquered people’s in Germany and Japan. while the USSR hung onto East Germany and Eastern Europe for decades, continuing to expand, but for the last 30 years, the Russians have not been doing that, quite the opposite for the most part.

5) China ~ Over 2 million of our jobs have been shipped there, albeit by American companies that were just more interested in building up China than their own country, with its waning middle class, and we have a massive trade deficit with the Chinese, who frequently make spin offs of our multinational companies’ products without observing US patents (counterfeiting).

6) Vietnam ~ Well, yes, that turned out to be a mistake, an overreach of the Cold War Era.

7) North Korea ~ Compare and contrast: quality of life in South Korea versus North Korea, but that said, it cost a multitude of young, American men in their teens and twenties between 50 and 70 years of life, not to mention the enormous expense to US taxpayers, with tons of money that could have spent building up the USA devoted to the defense of South Korea.

No, we are not a republic. Nor are we a democracy. We are, in fact, whatever TP'sTB decide we are... We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do. Here we are.

I'm well aware of what's happening to my country.  We're in the midst of a crisis that will shake it to its core.  Ultimately, it will test all branches of gov and every doctrine that we stand for. I don't watch CNN.  I get my news from credible, informed sources with multiple POV's that practice a thing called journalism. You know it as that FAKE reality propagated by Trump to discredit absolutely anything or anyone who doesn't serve his ego or purpose.BTW definition of a republic:a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch. We ain't in Kansas, Toto.

Let me get this straight:In your universe,(1) the speculative "assessments" (opinions based on little or no evidence) blaming the bot attack on Russia and widely reported by the news organizations and analysts cited above were correct, balanced journalism; and(2) the evidence gathered by prosecutors and the guilty pleas entered by the three Amereican students in court in Alaska, admitting criminal liability for conducting the attacks, reported via Wired and ZH, is pro-Russian spin.

It's funny how news outlets that blame Russia for things, like the NY Times, were squarely on the Russian side versus the US during the Cold War.  Their stock of leftover Gorbasms must have run out.

Russia tells Britain give back the Falklands before telling US what to do.RUSSIA has told Britain it should "clean its conscience" and give back the Falkland Islands before it criticises them over their involvement in Ukraine. Moscow's ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin made the shocking remarks when responding to his British counterpart Matthew Rycroft at a UN security council meeting in New York. (Daily Express 4 Feb 2017) They forget that a lot of territory was 'taken' in the 19th century (much of a norm). That doesn't excuse their actions in the 21st century.Falkland Islands – The Usurpation (1 pg): https://www.academia.edu/34838377/Falkland_Islands_The_Usurpation The bad guys ?

What is Israël’s project in Argentina? The Argentinian authorities are wondering about the massive purchase of land in Patagonia by a British billionaire, and the « holidays » that tens of thousands of Israëli soldiers are enjoying on his property.British billionaire Joe Lewis has acquired immense territories in the South of Argentina and even neighbouring Chile. His properties cover areas several times larger than the State of Israël. They are situated in Tierra del Fuego, at the extreme Southern point of the continent. In particular, they surround the Lago Escondido, which effectively denies access to the entire region, despite a legal injunction. The billionaire has built a private airport with a two kilometre landing strip, in order to be able to receive civil and military aircraft.Since the Falklands War, the Israëli army has been organising « holiday camps » (sic) in Patagonia for its soldiers. Between 8,000 and 10,000 of them now come every year to spend two weeks on Joe Lewis’ land. While in the 1970’s, the Argentinian army noted the construction of 25,000 empty houses, which gave rise to the myth of the Andinia Plan, hundreds of thousands have been built today.http://www.voltairenet.org/article198968.html

A never ending chain yank folks. An yes the Russians are prolly in on it too. That they did not do certain things one might have expected should give everyone pause.

I can provide iron-clad evidence, several atoms thick, that Russia hacked the election. Just deposit $48 million in Cayman RBS acct 4006969 and it's all yours. For a limited time, I'll throw in a convincing audio tape of Trump discussing gay sex with a person using a good imitation of a Russian accent for an additional $20M. Act now! While supplies last!

actual cost to the tax payer of hacks over the last ten years = zeroactual cost to the tax payer of security systems/experts/feasability studies, preparedness reports. back-up sites. testing for viruses, checking for cyber attacks over the last ten years = around 3 trillion dollarsever wonder how installing cyber security or updating operating systems actaully enables cyber attacks because you give complete control over your computer to a third party?welcome ot the virtual world we don't need no steenking paper or trusted friends!

The author of Mirai is Paras Jha. Jha is the owner of a DDoS mitigation service company ProTraf Solutions.
FBI reported it in January but you were too busy celebrating Trump to notice it.
What you didn't understand is that 2016 Dyn cyberattack was not carried by Jha.
On 25 October 2016, US President Obama stated that the investigators still had no idea who carried out the So nobody blamed Russian for the attack!
Stop playing blame game!
check your sources! FAKE NEWS!

Sedition charges on Hillary right fucking NOW! She is the one who orchestrated this entire money grabbing investigation.Start with her and work yourself down. Our alphabet agencies, mainly the FBI and CIA are extremely complicit and have used the MSM to push their narrative: One of the bigest issues for me is the character assasination issues on Trump. The more I see how Trump works the more I am convinced he is here to MAGA. Yes he has issues, but look at the alternatives of the last 50 or so years of elected to the highest office in America. NOBODY IS PERFECT, but President Trump is pretty damn close.

Now the CIA or NSA will hire these "savants" for their expertise: savants who were cheating at a game; trying to shut-down competitors host servers; and behaving like juvenile deliquents. Then someone inside the U.S. intelligence agencies will leak all their secrets onto the internet, and the CIA chief and all his little muppets will wail and howl about "national security" and "traitors."  The press will run stories for weeks about how "morale" inside the intelligence agencies is at an all-time low, and congress will hold hearings.  At no point will it ever occur to any of these sociopaths that filling a secret police force with people who have no loyalty, ethics, or decency is a recipe for disaster.  It will not occur to them, because they are sociopaths who have no ethics, loyalty, or integrity themselves. Here is some more scripture for Mr. Comey.(Luke 16:10)  He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
