EXPOSED: The Real Election Fixers

Zero Hedge Exclusive Global Intel Hub - 8/28/2018 (USA) -- There are only 3 countries in the world who have a track record, motivation, means, and history of fixing elections, and Russia is not on that list.

As we explain in Splitting Bits - the world is not as it seems, and clearly is not 'as seen on TV'.  The countries are The United States, The United Kingdom (part of the same 'alliance') and Israel.

1. As Noam Chomsky has pointed out, Israel not only meddles in US politics actively, it is the only foreign power that has it's own lobby group.  If China or Russia had their own lobby group, there would be protests and hearings.  For example:

First of all, if you’re interested in foreign interference in our elections, whatever the Russians may have done barely counts or weighs in the balance as compared with what another state does, openly, brazenly and with enormous support.

Israeli intervention in U.S. elections vastly overwhelms anything the Russians may have done...

I mean, even to the point where the prime minister of Israel, Netanyahu, goes directly to Congress, without even informing the president, and speaks to Congress, with overwhelming applause, to try to undermine the president’s policies - what happened with Obama and Netanyahu in 2015....

Did Putin come to give an address to the joint sessions of Congress trying to - calling on them to reverse U.S. policy, without even informing the president? And that’s just a tiny bit of this overwhelming influence.

So if you happen to be interested in influence of - foreign influence on elections, there are places to look. But even that is a joke.

I mean, one of the most elementary principles of a functioning democracy is that elected representatives should be responsive to those who elected them. There’s nothing more elementary than that. But we know very well that that is simply not the case in the United States.

2. Even the liberal You York Times admits that, well - we do it too.  But we do it 'for good reasons.'

“If you ask an intelligence officer, did the Russians break the rules or do something bizarre, the answer is no, not at all,” said Steven L. Hall, who retired in 2015 after 30 years at the C.I.A., where he was the chief of Russian operations. The United States “absolutely” has carried out such election influence operations historically, he said, “and I hope we keep doing it.”

Loch K. Johnson, the dean of American intelligence scholars, who began his career in the 1970s investigating the C.I.A. as a staff member of the Senate’s Church Committee, says Russia’s 2016 operation was simply the cyber-age version of standard United States practice for decades, whenever American officials were worried about a foreign vote.

“We’ve been doing this kind of thing since the C.I.A. was created in 1947,” said Mr. Johnson, now at the University of Georgia. “We’ve used posters, pamphlets, mailers, banners — you name it. We’ve planted false information in foreign newspapers. We’ve used what the British call ‘King George’s cavalry’: suitcases of cash.”

The United States’ departure from democratic ideals sometimes went much further. The C.I.A. helped overthrow elected leaders in Iran and Guatemala in the 1950s and backed violent coups in several other countries in the 1960s. It plotted assassinations and supported brutal anti-Communist governments in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

3. The United Kingdom, working hand in hand with the 'deep state' - was the responsible party of the Trump Russia fake story.  Not only were active MI5 agents involved in the trap set for Trump and his staff (to meet dirty Russian oligarchs that later would be used as evidence of 'collusion') and other tactics; but the United Kingdom played the most critical role of functions that needed to be 'outsourced' such as the writing and dissemination of the "Steele Dossier." Oh my - are we allowed to quote a reference source which is NOT approved by the State Department - or comes from a .ru domain?  No certainly every single person in Russia is a Mafia scammer.  We'll let's ruin our credibility shall we even scammers have rights too:

Key to this are three operatives with ties to the CIA, FBI and MI6 — Joseph Mifsud, Alexander Downer and Stefan Halper. These three were deployed to manipulate low-level Trump officials Carter Page and George Papadopoulos into believing they would be working with Russian intelligence networks, which wanted to help Trump, to establish links which could then be cited as channels of Russian influence into the Trump campaign. This kind of "sting" and "entrapment" operation has been used repeatedly by the FBI, against both "left" and "right" oppositionists. It was deployed against the civil rights movement — including in the targeting of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — against the anti-war movement in the late 1960s-early 1970s, against the Ku Klux Klan, in Abscam and Brilab attacks on pro-labor elected officials, and, more recently, with FBI plants into alleged terror cells since 9/11.

This Russiagate operation was launched between July and September of 2016, around the time that Trump won the Republican Party nomination, and shortly after Obama's CIA Director John Brennan had set up an inter-agency task force, with James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence, to investigate alleged Russian efforts to influence the outcome of the election. Brennan was initially steered in this direction by Robert Hannigan, then head of Britain's electronic warfare division, GCHQ. He and Clapper convinced FBI Director James Comey and other top FBI officials — including the FBI's liaison with Brennan, Peter Strzok — to open an FBI investigation. Strzok was directed to meet with "ex"-MI6 agent Christopher Steele in London on July 5, to be briefed on the "memos" Steele was drafting, alleging multiple channels of Russian influence on Trump, including fictitious sexual blackmail tapes. By July 31, 2016, the FBI "investigation" was launched, which was used to justify the deployments of the "spies," who were, in fact, in motion before then.

4. To what end?  Why do they do it?  Well the answer is clear - to justify the Empire.  After World War 2, the United States was the sole Superpower and felt obligated to make all other countries Americanized, because after all - everyone likes Hot Dogs.  Listen to what Chomsky has to say about this:

Let’s talk about the long history of US meddling in foreign political affairs, which has always been morally and politically justified as the spread of American style-democracy throughout the world.

The history of US foreign policy, especially after World War II, is pretty much defined by the subversion and overthrow of foreign regimes, including parliamentary regimes, and the resort to violence to destroy popular organizations that might offer the majority of the population an opportunity to enter the political arena.

Following the Second World War, the United States was committed to restoring the traditional conservative order. To achieve this aim, it was necessary to destroy the anti-fascist resistance, often in favor of Nazi and fascist collaborators, to weaken unions and other popular organizations, and to block the threat of radical democracy and social reform, which were live options under the conditions of the time. These policies were pursued worldwide: in Asia, including South Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Indochina and crucially, Japan; in Europe, including Greece, Italy, France and crucially, Germany; in Latin America, including what the CIA took to be the most severe threats at the time, “radical nationalism” in Guatemala and Bolivia.

Sometimes the task required considerable brutality. In South Korea, about 100,000 people were killed in the late 1940s by security forces installed and directed by the United States. This was before the Korean war, which Jon Halliday and Bruce Cumings describe as “in essence” a phase — marked by massive outside intervention — in “a civil war fought between two domestic forces: a revolutionary nationalist movement, which had its roots in tough anti-colonial struggle, and a conservative movement tied to the status quo, especially to an unequal land system,” restored to power under the US occupation. In Greece in the same years, hundreds of thousands were killed, tortured, imprisoned or expelled in the course of a counterinsurgency operation, organized and directed by the United States, which restored traditional elites to power, including Nazi collaborators, and suppressed the peasant- and worker-based communist-led forces that had fought the Nazis. In the industrial societies, the same essential goals were realized, but by less violent means.

And yes, the US has even meddled in first world countries elections like Italy, Spain, Australia - and those are only the DOCUMENTED cases.  Most likely there are entire teams of units in the CIA/NSA which are dedicated to flipping elections, especially in 'client states' like Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, etc.  More from Chomsky:

Yet it is true that there have been cases where the US was directly involved in organizing coups even in advanced industrial democracies, such as in Australia and Italy in the mid-1970s. Correct?

Yes, there is evidence of CIA involvement in a virtual coup that overturned the Whitlam Labor government in Australia in 1975, when it was feared that Whitlam might interfere with Washington’s military and intelligence bases in Australia. Large-scale CIA interference in Italian politics has been public knowledge since the congressional Pike Report was leaked in 1976, citing a figure of over $65 million to approved political parties and affiliates from 1948 through the early 1970s. In 1976, the Aldo Moro government fell in Italy after revelations that the CIA had spent $6 million to support anti-communist candidates. At the time, the European communist parties were moving towards independence of action with pluralistic and democratic tendencies (Eurocommunism), a development that in fact pleased neither Washington nor Moscow. For such reasons, both superpowers opposed the legalization of the Communist Party of Spain and the rising influence of the Communist Party in Italy, and both preferred center-right governments in France. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger described the “major problem” in the Western alliance as “the domestic evolution in many European countries,” which might make Western communist parties more attractive to the public, nurturing moves towards independence and threatening the NATO alliance.”

These are all just the reported facts.  Clearly there is a policy, which isn't so clandestine, that it's not about 'fair' elections it's about getting a candidate that agrees with our views.  Well that may be good, but it certainly isn't democratic.  For example in Islamic countries, don't they have the right to elect an Islamic dictator?  I mean why would a Muslim be elected to rule Israel, it just doesn't make sense.  The fact is that larger cultural biases cover policies with dogmatic and ethnic views, and with a global superpower backed by the only significant military in the world, it means that there is a subtle policy which is unsaid, untold - it's the "Americanization" of the world.  Americans don't want to bring "Democracy" that's just another political word for "Americanism" we want the world to drink Coca Cola and if you like Fanta you'll end up being water-boarded listening to the Barney song on repeat for 10 years.

So going back to the topic here, it is the USA/UK/Israel alliance which is interested at all in foreign affairs.  Most countries really stick to themselves, they aren't interested in Empire building, they just want to boost their export markets.  Take Japan for example, or Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand, any country you can pick and you will find no evidence of foreign election meddling.  Remember this:  USA outspends Russia depending on how you count 100x - 200x this magnitude is only possible to understand if you understand economies of scale and the law of large numbers.  Russia has no hope to compete on all fronts so they pick their battles wisely, as one would - with limited means.  They have to be smart.  They don't have teams of people hacking into US computer systems.

China on the other hand, likely does - and a lot of other bad things, but they aren't the convenient enemy that Russia is, with the business ties, the deep state lies, and buzzing flies...
