According to The Centre for Retail Research up to 200,000 retail jobs could be gone by 2020, this is in addition to the 150,000 that have disappeared since 2016. Many household chains are scrambling to negotiate with creditors in order to avoid collapse and total wipeout
It seems that "Black Monday" has been averted, with global risk sentiment making a full reversal to start the week, and the precipitous selloff from Thursday and (Black) Friday turning into a furious rally on Monday, which has sent S&P futures up 1.4%.
When markets open for trading today, the S&P will rise above 2,800 and the Dow Jones will not only make a new record high, it will do so in historic fashion with just 12 days needed to move from 25,000 to 26,000, the fastest 1,000 point move in history.
