37 Year Old Greek Investigative Journalist And Blogger Murdered
The Guardian reports that the prominent Greek reporter and blogger Socratis Giolas was allegedly murdered by the Sect of Revolutionaries terror group, after being shot 16 times in front of his pregnant wife. "The 37-year-old radio chief is the first journalist to be killed in the
country since newspaper publisher Nikos Monferatos was gunned down by
the infamous 17 November terror group in 1985. Giolas, who was also a frequent blogger, posting reports on popular online newsblog Troktiko, sought to illuminate Greece's seamier underside. The shooting came days before he was due to release an investigative series on corruption, colleagues said." It is always unfortunate when the investigative media loses inquisitive and intelligent minds, either outright violently (Giolas) or otherwise (Mark Pittman). Yet for every voice silenced, ten new ones appear. And even recent attempts in the US for a wholesale quieting of wide swath of the blogosphere will likely succeed in nothing more than merely roiling the hornets' nest of discontent. Luckily, no violent interventions have occurred in America (to date) - with the establishment fully aware it can simply throw a few dollars bills at and "capture" the better journalists out there, in exchange for 30 pieces of silver and "guaranteed" book sales, there is no need for bloodied hands. However, if this lack of inquiry results in merely more and more dirt being buried under the surface, when someone finally does hit the paydirt, the unfortunate events from Greece may be transplanted to a newsroom much closer to home.
More from the Guardian:
Forensic tests on bullet casings found at the scene matched them to two 9mm pistols used in previous assaults on policemen and a television channel by a domestic terror gang called the Sect of Revolutionaries.
The group, one of three operating guerilla networks whose members have never been caught, surfaced in December 2008 when Greece descended into violence following the police shooting of a teenage boy.
Since then, the country's political climate has become increasingly febrile, as far-left groups protesting against global capitalism and local corruption have staged attacks against police, public buildings and banks.
Last year, after targeting the Athens premises of the Alter TV station, the Sect of Revolutionaries vowed to step up attacks on well-known journalists and media outlets, accusing both of helping corrupt business interests mislead public opinion.Security experts have described the group as "among the most nihilistic and dangerous" to emerge in Greece since counter-terrorism authorities thought they had eradicated the problem with the capture of the infamous 17 November in 2001.
The assassination comes less than a month after unknown terrorists attempted to kill Michalis Chrysohoidis, the minister in charge of police, by sending a parcel bomb to his office in the centre of Athens. Wrapped up as a gift, the explosive device detonated in the hands of the politician's security chief, killing him. An unnamed group later claimed the bomb was aimed at Chrysohoidis, who successfully rooted out 17 November nearly three decades after the organisation hit headlines with the murder of the CIA bureau chief in Athens Richard Welch.
Giolas was no newcomer to death threats, his lawyer said. "He had been getting them from different people for the last 15 years," said Giorgos Marangakis. "It is very likely that he had a good amount of information that will at least lead [authorities] in the right direction [of those behind the attack]." Many Greeks wrote to the Troktiko blog to express their shock, with one describing the attack as a "political murder" the likes of which had not been seen in Greece for years.

Seconded.
I want to hear Geopol's take on this.

That comment would not be permitted today.
William Wells as Deputy Director for Operations was a very significant choice. He was a career covert operations specialist who had graduated from Yale a few years before Bush. Wells soon acquired his own deputy, recommended by him and approved by Bush: this was the infamous Theodore Shackley, whose title thus became Associate Deputy Director for Covert Operations. Shackley later emerged as one of the central figures of the Iran-contra scandal of the 1980’s. He is reputedly one of the dominant personalities of a CIA old boys’ network known as The Enterprise, which was at the heart of Iran-contra and the other illegal covert operations of the Reagan-Bush years.
During the early 1960’s, after the Bay of Pigs, Theodore Shackley had been the head of the CIA Miami Station during the years in which Operation Mongoose was at its peak. This was the Howard Hunt and Watergate Cubans crowd, circles familiar to Felix Rodriguez (Max Gomez), who in the 1980’s supervised gun-running and drug-running out of Bush’s vice presidential office.
Later, Shackley was reportedly the chief of the CIA station in Vientiane, Laos, between July 1966 and December 1968. Some time after that he moved on to become the CIA station chief in Saigon, where he had directed the implementation of the Civilian Operations and Rural Development Support (CORDS) progra, better known as Operation Phoenix, a genocidal crime against humanity which killed tens of thousands of Vietnamese civilians because they were suspected of working for the Vietcong, or sometimes simply because they were able to read and write. As for Shackley, there are also reports that he worked for a time in the late 1960’s in Rome, during the period when the CIA’s GLADIO capabilities were being used to launch a wave of terrorism in that country. Such was the man that Bush chose to appoint to a position of reponsibility in the CIA. Later, Shackley will turn up as a “speech writer” for Bush during the 1979-80 campaign.
Along with Shackley came his associate and former Miami station second in command, Thomas Clines, a partner of General Richard Secord and Albert Hakkim during the Iran-contra operation, convicted in September 1990 on four felony tax counts for not reporting his ill-gotten gains, and sentenced to 16 months in prison and a fine of $40,000.
During Bush’s tenure Shackley’s circles were mightliy remoralized. In particular Ed Wilson, a veteran of Shackley’s Miami station, now a retired CIA officer who worked closely with serving CIA personnel to organize gun running, sex operatives, and other activities, plied his trade undisturbed. The Wilson scandal, which had grown up on Bush’s watch, would begin to explode only during the tenure of Stansfield Turner, under Carter.
Another career covert operations man, John Waller, became the Inspector General, the officer who was supposed to keep track of illegal operations. For legal advice, Bush turned first to holdover General Counsel Mitchell Rogovin, who had in December 1975 theorized that intelligence activities belonged to the “inherent powers” of the Presidency, and that no special Congressional egislation was required to permit such things as covert operations to go on. Later Bush appointed Anthony Lapham, Yale ‘58, as CIA General Counsel. Lapham was the scion of an old San Francisco banking family, and his brother was Lewis Lapham, the editor of Harper’s Magazine. Lapham would take a leading role in the CIA coverup of the Letelier assassination case. 1- 1.
Typical of the broad section of CIA officers who were delighted with their new boss from Brown Brothers, Harriman/Skull and Bones was Cord Meyer, who had most recently been the station chief in London from 1973 on, a wild and wooly time in the tight little island, as we will see. Meyer, a covert action veteran and Watergate operative, writes at length in his autobiography about his enthusiasm for the Bush regime at CIA, which induced him to prolong his own career there:
How does one counter this? with effective action?I again seriously thought of retiring from the Agency but the new atmosphere in CIA’s Langley headquarters changed my mind. George Bush had been appointed by President Ford to succeed Colby as DCI in January, and by the time of my return he had completely dispelled the fears that had been aroused by his former political connections. Having served in the Congress as a Republican representative from Texas and having recently been chairman of the Republican National Committee, he was initially viewed with suspicion as an ambitious politician who might try to use the Agency for partisan purposes. However, he quickly proved by his performance that he was prepared to put politics aside and to devote all his considerable ability and enthusiasm to restoring the morale of an institution that had been battered enough by sucessive investigations. Instead of reaching outside for defeated Republican candidates to fill key jobs, he chose from within the organization among men who had demonstrated their competence through long careers in intelligence work. He leaned over backward to protect the objectivity and independence of the Agency’s estimates and to avoid slanting the results to fit some preconceived notion of what the President wanted to hear.
On the other hand, his close relationship to Ford [Bush was a regular tennis doubles partner with Ford] and the trust that the President obviously had in him gave Bush an access to the White House and an influence in the wider Washington bureaucracy that Colby had never enjoyed. Not only did morale improve as a result, but through Bush the Agency’s views carried new weight and influence in the top reaches of the Ford Administration. In effect, I found on my return that the working environment at the Agency was far better than I had imagined it to be from my exposed position abroad and I determined to stay on for a period before retiring. Bush and “Hank” Knoche, the newly appointed deputy director, asked me to serve as a special assistant, and gave me as first assignment the task of reviewing the entire structure of the intelligence community to determine the adequacy of the arrangements for providing strategic warning against an attack on the United States and for handling major international crises.
Cog,
Here's an interesting piece on your alias.
It would apply here too, but also to many of the arguments on the BP threads.
Thanks for the link. Always good to see continued discussion of the subject though I'm always leery seeing the MSM media talk about it because it's usually slanted a bit and published for a reason. And the reason is rarely to inform but more likely as a psyops piece.
I've written a few articles here on ZH that discuss this in some detail. Including parts of my 5 part series "Welcome to the Insane Asylum."

It's good that you reposted the links, but I have the 'hard copy' in my drawer. Am trying to 'tell one truth today', as I think you said in an earlier post a while back. Something about a guy who stands up to do a wacky dance... :-)
You are doing an excellent job. And I suspect you're a much better dancer than this guy. :>)

That link just puts into MSM print the fact that information asymetry is extremely pronounced. TPTB are well aware of this kind of research, as its results reinforce the fact that the public is very easily captured by propaganda. Look at how politicians and the MSM act these days. They make grandiose claims (death panels, global warming, etc.) which have a sliver of truth, but are widely distorted. Nevertheless, they make those claims loudly and with style (did she just wink at me? Man, she is HOT! - or he's is so eloquent... so much smarter than Bush). You see it every day. It is very rare that actual facts will assuage anyone's thinking who made a gut reaction the instant they heard the false claim. We inherently want to believe because it makes human interactions easier - who wants the headache of having to figure out if someone is lying to them at every turn. He's smiling and is very likeable, then he must be telling the truth. The problem that this article describes is that it gives a leg up to the very best liars among us. Sociopaths are getting away with murder, and they're telling us it's good for us... TPTB are fully aware of these findings. Read up on Edward Bernays if you want to get an idea of how far back this goes.
Dishearteningly true. A decent person's empathy is a sociopath's tool.
Amartya Sen discrediting the Neoclassical Assumption
"Central to (the) problem is the assumption that when asked the question, the individual gives an answer that will maximize his personal gain. How good is this assumption? I doubt it is very good. "Where is the railway station?" he asks me. "There," I say, pointing to the post office, "and would you please post this letter for me on the way?" "Yes," he says, determined to open the envelope and check whether it contains something valuable."
IE Even the most simple assumptions of a basic level of cooperation/trust are, in the hands of sociopaths, advantages to be exploited. Unfortunately, this wasn't what Sen was trying to illustrate, but that ends up being the conclusion, inadvertently or not; power favours the ruthless and the heartless. It has always been this way, which is why there haven't been many 'benevolent dictators'. (Owain Fawr,mb?)
Perhaps all in positions of great authority should be forced to take some version of the Voight-Kampff test?
Warmest Regards
Rhetorical question: To whom was Thomas Jefferson referring with the opening quote in that link: Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government ...? When Jefferson made that quote, of what was the voting population comprised?
Severely restricted to a narrowly defined Power Elite. QED
With respect to information flows, some very hinkey take downs, deletions and re-postings of high volume "critical" downloads of late on Google. Repetitious of the pattern extending all the way from signing the Internet Identity Layer Protocol contemporaneous with the disappearance of hinted DoJ anti-trust proceedings. Lack of results of news media with respect to search term "climate gate", carried openly by less powerful search operations. Recognizing purchase of "Gulf oil spill" by BP, obfuscating well intentioned desires to access media reports. Wealth of historical information regarding birth, cultivation and expansion of firm in apparent concert with governmental agencies. The list goes on and on. And not only with Google.
So we might ask ourselves, what sources of information provide reasonably unbiased information with which to make informed decisions?
Which sources provide tainted information with which to enhance the decision making process?
The challenge of reality, not unlike the proverb of the red and blue pills.
Anybody else notice how this makes no freaking sense?
Why would a "...far-left group(s) protesting against global capitalism and local corruption have staged attacks..."
Kill a journalist "...days before he was due to release an investigative series on corruption..."?!
Something is rotten in the birthplace of democracy, and it ain't a tub of forgotten feta left in the back of the fridge.
exactly...went to his blog and the best that I came up with is that this far left terrrorist group is probably a front. Fellow greek journalists also stated that they'll never get down to the bottom of it and probably clamp down on all lefties because of this event. As usual bullshit rules in Greece.
If by a front you mean a group masquerading as another group, I agree. There appears to be no motive attributable to the supposed perpetrators.
Great call, dnarby!
I have swapped data in the past with this intreped journalist and investigator, and I find it highly difficult to believe a guy who was about to file a report on highly placed Greek government officials, who happened to be former Goldman Sachs types, and concerned the debt events and situation in Greece, was assassinated by an "extreme left wing group."
In Greece, typically over the decades (not unlike many countries including the USA), the opposite political party or affiliation is used as the patsy or disinformation ploy.
God Bless Sokrates for his attempts at making the world a better place, and many hope his assassins are eventually brought to justice.
But in Greece, I kinda frigging doubt it.....
(It is interesting to note the deaths surrounding any event which involves Goldman Sachs -- usually rather suspect "suicides" -- the laid-off banker in the U.K. (ABN AMRO) and that young trading desk fellow (Deutsche Bank) in London, who interestingly happened to have interned for that former ABN AMRO executive when he was at Oxford.
It was reported that the software that Sergey Aleynikov absconded with from Goldman Sachs (HFT stuff) downloaded in the London area, and shortly thereafter two banking people have questionable suicides. Perhaps, perhaps not.
Then that less-than professional auto attack on the fellow - and his family - in the London area -- the one who contacted the CFTC about JPMorgan's involvement with precious metals market fixing.)
But forensics came up with a match for the gun used; and it was also used to kill cops. That was some record-time investigative work. Case closed.
Seem a little too cut and dried?
What kind/whose corruption was he about to expose? That is the key question. Will this piece see the light of day? Did he mail a few copies to trusted associates?
Z - he lives
+1
It's a shame indeed. Look for more murders and suicides and yes they are coming to America too!
It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees.
Emiliano Zapata
You got it wrong, the correct quote is:
It is better to live on your feet than to die on your knees.
Catch-22
I figured something was going to happen to Glenn Beck soon because he was such a thorn in the side to this administration. He even talks about it on his show that he might be "disappeared". I read a story today where he said he might be going blind. Of course my conspiracy mind went to the Russian guy who was injected with some umbrella syringe James Bond type weapon without his knowledge. He died a couple of days later of radiation poising or something. Anybody remember this? I barely do. What say our gubment does have something similar that would make you go blind? I have heard they have something that can make it look like you had a massive heart attack with no trace of chemical left behind. You can't kill Beck because it would draw to much attention and make him a martyr, so maim him where he becomes useless and no one is the wiser. If I was him I would be getting tested for other things. Our gubment is a lot more subtle than shooting someone in the street. More than likely it's my active imagination, and it's a heredity thing or something. A lot of people don't like Beck, but he is awful brave going up against the TPTB.
he is: sociopath opportunist
"sociopath opportunist", Ha ha! Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. Everyone on this site is a sociopath opportunist or you wouldn't be here!
If you think it through, there will be a point where the PTB will no longer be able to stop various "truth" movements. The next step will be to co-opt the "truth", which I believe has already begun.
Does that put Glenn Beck in a different light? If someone is on the MSM speaking "truth", there's an agenda behind the program, even if the actual "host" might not be (fully) "read" in on the ultimate purpose.
Perhaps Glenn, TD, Drudge, and who knows how many others will be targeted. Jim Willie had some close encounters of the third kind. Listen, things are unraveling and plenty of powerful people want to cover-up and intimidate. I am suspicious about some of the reported Hedge Fund managers suicides, not to mention Freddie Mac's CFO!
Glenn Beck is nothing but a part of the MSM -- look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pr8EPYcLmvQ
I thought he was the right guy at the right time until I heard him talk as if the "truthers" as opposed to the liars -- and the "birthers" were crazy or worse. There is plenty of evidence to back up these folks--he is just trying to keep the "right wing" out of the truther/birther camps by using his show to defame them. He had me fooled for about a year though. The guy to watch out for is Alex Jones. He has been going after big government and the banksters for a long time now. I will not be surprised if they get to him. Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh, OReilly, and any of their kind are safe (they are useful). These guys merely preach to their quire and further polarize people. They are no threat to the federal government and plus, the republicons have them covered. The demacriminals have their own mouth pieces to polarize their people. It is all a big show for those who don't take the time to ask questions.
AFA the "Truthers" are concerned, their scenario only works if you believe the gov't is competent enough to pull it off.
Whoops, major flaw in THAT theory, whoo-ee.
Far more likely is that they allowed massive security holes in our national defense and either deliberately (treason) or accidentally (massive incompetence) let 9/11 happen. After all, it's not like anyone had tried to bring down the WTC before, or anything...
Can't speak to the Birthers, however. Not sure what's up there.
Dissident author Georgi Markov was murdered, silenced in 1978 when the tip of an containing Ricin was inserted into his leg.
http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Britain-To-Continue-Probe-Into-Umbrella-Murder-Of-Georgi-Markov-30-Years-Ago/Article/200809215095940?f=rss
Not unlike one of the Vatican's bankers found hanged beneath Blackfriars Bridge, later to be ruled a suicide. Only problem was the girders he was found hanging from were nigh impossible to access on one's own, so went official reports for a while.
If memory serves, I believe you're referring to one of those bankers involved some years back with the B.C.C.I. global criminal bank.
Unfortunately, just as it was getting close to the top people in the American administration (either in the latter part of the Reagan Administration or earlier in the Geo. H.W. Bush administration), a guy by the name of Robert Mueller was appointed to head the Dept. of Justice's criminal division. Mueller appeared to be pivotal in quashing the BCCI investigation to Washington political links.
Mueller today is the director of the F.B.I., appointed by Geo. H.W. Bush's son, then-president Geo. W. Bush. (A movie roughly based on the BCCI affair was made several years back, "The International" -- good for a quick and easy reference on them.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_Credit_and_Commerce_International
Yep, Ricin was used as the bioweapon. Memory serves it was a Bulgarian spy using it to take out a Bulgarian dissident and most likely synthesised in the Soviet Union who were experts at bioweapon development.
His name was Georgi Markov, a dissident from Bulgaria. What was stunning about the case is that he was assassninated in London by the Bulgarian Secret Police... real life SMERSH imitators.
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgi_Markov" />
The poison was allegedly ricin, but the documentary I saw said that it was not conclusive. You are right that the Russians were able to fake heart attacks (I forgot where I read this) by spraying people in the face with some chemical (kind of like that scene in the first part of Thunderball). Unfortunately all this stuff is real, not just in fiction.
Condolences to the family indeed. Troktiko really did not mince words.
The translation is not the best, but good enough.
That kind of nepotism never occurs ANYWHERE else but in corrupt, lazy, entitlement-addled Greece, right...? ;-)
A very enthusiastic review here.
And perhaps newcomers (or anyone who hasn't read it) should take a look at the ZH credo.
And what happens when the corruption involves the government? Then who are the terrorists?
Yet for every voice silenced, ten new ones appear.
Actually I think this will cause many a would be (or practicing) truth-to-power-speaker, to think twice about other career prospects, particularly in the more troubled European countries.
There wasn't exactly a spate of dark-side-of-Islam documentaries after Theo Van Gogh was murdered.
Terrorism works.
update: Maybe if this comment gets junked enough it will 'disappear' and you will no longer be confronted with an unpleasant argument. Wouldn't that be ironic?

basically allowing those who wear the guns to "name" someone as "hostile" and detain without trial, without notification of family, etc.
"disappeared" - not just other nationstates, eh?
This is rule by law, not rule of law. It is an obscene violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution and will have consequent validity. Those who sponsor it should be tried for treason, found guilty and executed. To act as if the United States is still a nation of laws is self-deception defining the outer limits of delusion. The Republic is dead, and all that remains of it is a zombie shit husk, slouching towards Gomorrah.
What we need is a return of the antisedition laws so that shit like you can be tried for treason, found guilty, and executed.
The "Equal Protection Clause" isn't a part of the original Constitution but is instead part of the Fourteenth Amendment. This means it was not intended by the Founding Fathers and was a major step on the descent towards federalism and socialism and away from state's rights.
Sorry, I think equal protection is a good idea, would much rather keep that part, thank you very much.
If Giolas was exposing corruption, then why would this particular group kill him? They seem to be on his side of the issues. Feels like the "authorities" are pinning this on who it is most convenient.
My thoughts exactly.
Exactly, although generally their bread and butter is racketeering and extorsion, paramilitary groups are normally hired guns for the elite class.
RIP.
To paraphrase Stalin: "When there is a man, there is a problem. No man, no more problem."
Isn't there a lot of Russian money and the associated, ahem, in Greece? Perhaps a message was sent.
Exactly!
Terrorism is a predictable reaction to the evil skullduggery of the international financiers who, with their international corporations, are bent on world dominance by any means. Thus, it becomes a gray area as to who actually is the assassin when assassination-by-hire has become official US policy. It brings to mind the article written in June by Glenn Greenwald: How Many Americans Are Targeted for Assassination?
Wrote Greenwald:
When The Washington Post's Dana Priest first revealed (in passing) back in January that the Obadministration had compiled a hit list of American citizens targeted for assassination, she wrote that "as of several months ago, the CIA list included three U.S. citizens." In April, both the Post and the NYT confirmed that the administration had specifically authorized the assassination of Anwar al-Awlaki. Today (June 25), The Washington Times' Eli Lake has an interview with Obama's top Terrorism adviser John Brennan in which Brennan strongly suggests that the number of U.S. citizens targeted for assassination could actually be "dozens":
"Nobody -- or at least not me -- disputes the right of the U.S. or any other country to kill someone on an actual battlefield during war without due process. That's just obvious, but that's not remotely what Brennan is talking about, and it's not remotely what this assassination program is about. Indeed, Brennan explicitly identified two indistinguishable groups of American citizens who "will face the full brunt of a U.S. response": (1) those "on the battlefield in Afghanistan or Iraq"; and (2) those "in a Yemen or in a Pakistan or in Somalia or another place." In other words, the entire world is a "battlefield" -- countries where there is a war and countries where there isn't -- and the President's "battlefield" powers, which are unlimited, extend everywhere. ...
Added Greenwald, “One other thing that is truly amazing: the U.S. tried to import this same due-process-free policy to Afghanistan. There, the U.S. last year compiled a "hit list" of 50 Afghan citizens whose assassination it authorized on the alleged ground (never charged or convicted) that they were drug "kingpins" or funding the Taliban. …
http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/06/25/assassinations/index.html
With a policy of due process replaced by one of assassination based on "secret evidence," who would know?
Has been going on for MANY years per se.
Look up Arkancide
And btw, what ever happened to that DC Madam who had info oin many high up within the government?
Exactly....what happened....anybody care to discuss, because your MSM will not.
You mean, beyond the fact that she died - suicide I think?
Most all inconvenients die of suicide.
And what with the new laws, two folks can be deemed as terrorists, whisked away without trial, with no recourse to representation, writ of Habeas Corpus or trial.
Saw a bumper sticker today;
I love my Country.
I fear my government.
Could have been an inconvenient death. But she had been in prison before and was quoted as saying she would kill herself before she went back to prison. Fifty-year sentence or so for a grown woman. Life would not have been particularly valuable to her.
It'll be interesting to see if the guy from Wikileaks can get hold of Giolas' corruption report and air that or if he only has a hard on for the US.
Now we have perhaps another reason why Assange must be stopped in the eyes of TPTBs!!! As you say, it'll be interesting...
Here’s how Justin Raimondo defends Julian Assange’s whistleblower website April 13 on Antiwar.com in Liberals Smear Wikileaks. It begins: Activists intent on releasing evidence of crimes committed by a powerful government are harassed and followed by police and intelligence agents: a restaurant in which they are meeting comes under surveillance, and, subsequently, one of their number is detained by the police for 21 hours. Their leader is followed on an international flight by two agents: and, in a parking lot of foreign soil, one of their number is accosted by a "James Bond character" and threatened. Computers are seized, and on the group’s Twitter account the following message appears:
"If anything happens to us, you know why … and you know who is responsible."
Well, then, who is responsible? Surely it must be some totalitarian regime – say, the Chinese, or one of the Arab autocracies – but no. The culprits are the Americans, and their target is Wikileaks – the web site of record for leaked government and other official documents, which has so far done more real investigative reporting in the last few years to unnerve and expose the Powers That Be than the New York Times and the Washington Post, combined. …
And concludes:
While Assange is being tailed by Hillary’s gendarmes, and a brazen campaign of intimidation is being carried out by government agencies against a legal organization and web site, the "liberals" over at Mother Jones are doing their bit by trying to discredit Assange, and Wikileaks, in progressive circles. Judging from the comments attached to Kushner’s piece, it isn’t working all that well.
When are conservatives going to wake up and smell the coffee? Probably when Obama’s thugs come after them and their dinky little web sites, if ever they become a threat to the regime. This is blowback, guys: the very spying and surveillance you wanted as weapons in the "war on terrorism" are now being turned on critics of a liberal Democratic administration. They’re going after the web site that published the "Climate-gate" emails — and you’re next!
And when are liberals going to wake up and smell the fact that their Dear Leader has betrayed the Revolution, and is in many ways worse than his predecessor? At least you knew Bush was an authoritarian. Obama puts a "reasonable" and even "liberal" face on what is, essentially, the same doctrine of executive and governmental supremacism. What’s interesting is to listen to liberals now sounding like the once-hated neocons, smearing anyone who stands in their way and justifying an increasingly unpopular and costly war. The real Mother Jones must be spinning in her grave.

You’ve gotta love Justin, IMO, whichever side you’re on.

No disrespect intended, but he may have had a better chance if he had concealed carry. If I get a death threat, I am buying the best vest on ebay & packing a phaser. Time to get 007 gear.
If a competent person/organization wishes to kill someone, there will be no threats. Just someone thoroughly dead.
Hate to disagree with you mate, but i grew up in Belfast and if you were on a hit-list you were considered already dead. Picking the kids up from school, going to church on sunday, eating in a restaurant, visiting your parents, having a crap...they get you in the end because they only need to be lucky once, whereas you need to lucky every time. Bomb or by bullet, at the hands of government controlled paramilitaries or security forces, or ideologically driven madmen...if you are in over your head, or you piss off the wrong people, its goodnight John boy. And it doesnt matter what level of society you come from either…judges, bankers, postmen, journalists, cops, criminals, royalty, politicians and tramps, the gunmen only need to lucky once, as I said.
It's nice to think you can defend yourself, but this is not random street crime. You stand almost no chance alone against an organized hit. That's why the CIA, Mossad, and all the others are so damn scary. I'm surprised the Wikileaks guy is still alive.
Forensic tests on bullet casings found at the scene matched them to two 9mm pistols used in previous assaults on policemen and a television channel by a domestic terror gang called the Sect of Revolutionaries.
A 9mm bullet casing you say? Oh yeah, that narrows it down authoritatively to a state-hallucinated gang of "terrorists" that have somehow managed to evade the authorities for over 25 years. Conspiracy theory much?
Forensic tests on bullet casings found at the scene matched them to two 9mm pistols used in previous assaults
Here is where I throw the bullshit flag. Matching bullet casings to two specific 9mm pistols? Bullshit...
My thoughts and prayers are with his family. His child can be proud to be the progeny of a truth-teller, but the pain will still be real and his wife will never forget this nightmare.
It doesn't have to be this way. None of it.
We don't respond to what is. We respond to what is perceived out of what is. Those in power will always perceive threats to their power, and will work to eradicate these perceived threats. It will always be this way.
Depressing.
ignore.
Guys, most countries are like this. You shake the status quo and you get murdered. Atleast we have that much freedom in this unique country of ours. Let's keep it that way.
You are young, aren't you.
Don't be too proud of the USA--you speak out at all and you get labeled and pretty soon after that you can't hold onto a job, which means you have no way of making an honest living. It's all downhill from there. The machine protects itself.
Freedom of speech? No such thing, not in any meaningful sense.
Hmmm, I only wish it were true. Live long enough and you will find out just how free we really are...
Yeah, just ask Gary Webb.

"Guys, most countries are like this. You shake the status quo and you get murdered."
Dood, are you like a complete and utter doofus??
Were you born yesterday, or have you spent your entire existence in either a coma or a cave without wi-fi??
WTF??? Have you even the remotest idea of how many questionable suicides and definite murders have occurred over just the past decade???
Thought not!
Geez, have you even ever read an actual book?
Start reading, start researching (assuming this isn't a planted comment).
Geez, I cannot begin to fathom the ignorance behind such a comment!
Never wait for being hit. Always take initiative.

Whom?Obama and his cronies, why? Because people are starting to find out, he's not the ''hope and change'' they thought he would be, rather they're finding out he's a big fraud, not even born in this country and even if he was, was adopted by a foreign father, which makes a foreigner, And that congress are bunch of incompetent wall st minions, US is fast becoming a totalitarian orwellian doublethink state, the freedoms we had in this country is disappearing fast,

The Global Financial Mafia is going after Campaign For Liberty in a lawsuit for publishing this:

and this link to every House vote on Roll Call Motion 412 (The Federal Reserve Audit was included in the motion to send the Dodd-Frank Fed Empowerment Act (H.R. 4173) back to committee. Voting against the motion was a vote to further empower the secretive Fed, kill HR 1207, and accept a watered-down, Fed-approved, virtually useless audit contained in HR 4173):

I wish I were joking but they really are trying to shut them up in court.
