$38 Billion 3 Year Auction Closes At Second Highest Bid To Cover In History

Tyler Durden's picture

And so liquidity overflows once more, with investors stampeding to get first into stocks and now into bonds, with the 3 year $38 billion auction closing at 1.414% and an all time high BTC of 3.27. But no, there is no bubble. It is just that investors are diversifying by buying bonds, stocks, commodities and gold all at the same time.

  • $38 Billion 3 year closes at 1.414% (1.307% Low, 1.370% Mid), 1.776% previously
  • Bid To Cover 3.27x, previous 3.10, average 3.00. This is an all time high BTC [actually November 2009 was the only time that BTC was slightly higher at 3.33, so for all you purists out there, now you know]
  • Indirects at 50.7% vs average 50.91%
  • Direct take down 16.5%
  • Primary Dealer hit ratio 14.99%
  • Allotted at high 22.27%

All I can do is say thank you Germany for your Austerity measures against Greece... The Fed now will own you going forward, Austerity be damned.

So, what's on the other side of all of this?  I know the guns & gold crowd say we're going to look like Road Warrior.  But, I'm wondering what it's really going to be like in the US in 10 years.  I live near New Bedford, MA.  That town was for 200 years the wealthiest per town per capita in the world (whale trade)... until the discovery of oil.  Now it's a decrepit northeaster city.

So, what's the entire US economy going to look like?  Can anyone envision it?  Some kind of New Bedford/Sao Paulo/Buenos Aires type of blend?

Been to Erie once.  Scary town.  Main street, downtown, still has wooden poles lining the street for electricity.  Name any other city of any size that doesn't have buried power lines downtown.

OK, the fate of everything is sealed.  We have two years or less to prepare; time to hunker down.

But do not worry, we still each have our humanity!  So enjoy life, as it is priceless.  We create our own destinies, this in the face of positive and negative forces.  Be happy, for each day is a blessing.

“Gold Is Money, and Nothing Else.“
- JP Morgan, testifying under oath to Congress before the Pujo Commission, 1913

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin. The Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create deposits, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away that power, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear — as they ought to in order to make this a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let them continue to create deposits.”

-Sir Josiah Stamp (1880-1941), one time governor of the Bank of England, in his Commencement Address at the University of Texas in 1927. Reportedly he was the second wealthiest individual in Britain.

I would disagree with Morgan. Gold approaches the ideal form of money, but it's also much more than that. My background is stronger in science than in finance, so I would actually be highly skeptical of any mass delusions about gold not being gold.

And Stamp was refering to fractional reserve banking/lending, right? Banks like Goldmoney are still very nice to have, yes?

it's only natural that after printing $1.5t by the Fed, and another  750T by the EuroBank, giving it 10X multiplyer, and distributing all of that "wealth" among 30K wealthiest people , they will speculate invest in all sorts of assets.  What else are they going to do?  they have 200' boat, ang a Gulfstream V, and 16 Bentleys/MBs/Ferraris, i.e. they have nothing else to buy, which in itself keeps inflation down....
