The latest and greatest one takes on Jamie as Hitler (who has been very busy recently, having to deal with both MBS fraud and the Irish collapse) who we find is not too happy to learn that the Argentum line was just taken by the Asian banks and the millions of US coin purchasers, and the resultant squeeze is about to force his bank to come begging at the front door of the FRBNY for capital to fund the world's biggest collateral call ever.

Oh, I get it. But you are taking the delivery way too seriously. The Nazi's are an easily recognizable fascist example, well-known to be responsible to the rape, pillage, and death of millions. Therefore, the video can start with the premise that the characters are evil - without spending time on character building. I doubt you could conjure - in a 5 minute video - a character more hated then Hitler in the mainstream conscience.
And you have to look at the practical issues as well. Again, using the same sets, characters, costumes, etc. saves money, time, production, etc. And it becomes a brand - those "Nazi ytube videos."

Actually, if you look back at early photos of American children pledging allegiance to the flag, you will see them employing the same salute that was common in Nazi Germany. But just because not all nazis were evil people doesn't mean we can't make "blanket statements" about nazis as a whole. If we couldn't make such generalizations we couldn't converse or even make reasonable judgments in life at all, because life is almost never wholly black and white. What we look at is the predominant trends or character of a group, compared to other groups. We don't have to prove every member of that group has that particular character, just that that particular character is statistically significantly more prevalent in that group. At a certain degree of predominance in the group, we are justified in making a "blanket statement" about that group having that characteristic. (And then, predictably as the sun rises in the East, someone will say 'but not ALL of the people in that group have that characteristic!')
Jews are disproportionately liberal, they have disproportionate influence in the media, and thus it is fair to make "blanket statements" about Jews and the effects of their disproportional liberal influence in policy-making. It's as fair to say that about Jews as it is to say Nazis were evil.
Although I see Jewish domination and control one of the greatest evils to defend against, I do not see the blanket statements about Jews being accurate. According to my personal experience, blanket statements simply do not work and go much further in the prevention of our common goal..

The Jewish people have supported and rallied behind the state of Israel and their many atrocities. I believe that most of them can't look at the situation in an unbiased way because of their opinions being clouded by the religious and historical aspect of Israel and the same goes for the christians. The reason people lump jews together instead of blaming individuals is because they feel the jewish culture and upbringing encourages the acts that the individuals are commiting. Some people are under the impression (rightly or wrongly) that jews are raised to believe that they are superior to non-jews, the goy as they are called, and that a jew is allowed to con and steal from the goy because they are sub-human cattle.
In contrast the christian religion teaches compassion for all people, this doesn't mean all christians are good but when a christian steals from someone they are going against their religion and upbringing.
Also there is the feeling that the Jewish community has more solidarity then others, they stick together in their support for Isreal for example. A jew critisising Isreal is much less comman then a brit critisising Britain. So it is easier to group them all together.

Or maybe the Germans have as little respect for the Nazi's as we do, because you know they've evolved past that garbage. I've been to Berlin and they are some of the most anti-facist people on the planet. They didn't like how things turned out to say the least. I was always impressed with the humility and historic honesty of the Germans. Totally the polar opposite of the collective historical amnesia in say the UK or Japan or hell contemporary USA.

Well aside from their near 300 year global reign of terror that they never acknowledge with 1/1000th the humility of Germany nothing. I was also engaged to an english gal and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Seriously though, I've never traveled anywhere that had such a thoroughly myopic view of their own history as some sort of heroic "Englishman's Burden". Japan is another country with a disturbing view or lack thereof for it's historical crimes. I find that sort of collective amnesia disturbing and as others pointed out above denial of that sort of thing makes it more likely there will be a repeat.
I'm very thankful for Churchill and my grandmother who is English and survived the Blitz so it's not like I think all things English are bad, just their historical perspective as a group is pretty suspect. They certainly aren't alone, convenient amnesia is pretty rife throughout Europe actually.
Dwelling on the mistakes of the past is fine, if taken in conjunction with the successes. While the time of Empire involved suffering for those colonised in many cases (don't forget those bastard Romans either, they were real assholes, eh ?), many good things also came from that period, which have subsequently benefited humanity hugely. Industrial Revolution anyone ? Bueller ? Anyone ?

I have lived in Germany, they're a great people. Had a lot of fun there. I don't hold the ones I met responsible for the sins of their forefathers, any more than they hold me responsible for the sins of Empire. I suggest you try to focus on the present...
Agree with all you wrote. I'm more than half English as it happens and have spent about a year in England. Probably ran into an inordinate amount of the type of bloke who sees only shining glory in the history books. I am guilty of generalizing my own anecdotal evidence to be sure.
As to the present theres is plenty. This whole ludicrous sub-thread started when someone complained about bashing the Nazi's as equal to German bashing. Plenty to focus on in the present I completely agree and the USA is one of the worst current offenders in global geo-politics. But as you say you take the good with the bad. Here's hoping the good eclipses the bad and soon as things have gotten quite dark.
