After BofA Escalates, Refuses To Process Wikileaks' Payments, Wiki Retaliates, Advises Americans To Put Their Money "Somewhere Safer"
Bank of America just fired the preemptive escalation shot in its duel with Wikileaks. Late on Friday, America's biggest mortgage lender, and the firm that is now getting sued left and right for various mortgage transgressions, announced it is joining MasterCard, Paypal and Visa in ceasing transactions for Wikileaks. While this decision will certainly not improve Operation Anonymous' empathy toward the North Carolina bank, it may just precipitate overt retaliation by Assange, who is now rumored to be in possession of data that could provie harmful to BAC. Which is why this sudden escalation out of left field by the bank strikes as surprisingly odd: BofA's upside is very limited while its downside could be 100% - even if Wikileaks is bluffing, why provoke them. And as expected, Wikileaks has already retaliated: in two sequential tweets it advised its 568,117 (and very rapidly growing) subscribers to pull their money out of Bank of America, and also to close all their accounts with the firm, urging them to put their money "somewhere safer." What is curious is to see whether this sudden escalation, in what has now become synonymous with a quest for preserving the first amendment for a substantial deal of people (and freedom of speech globally), will have a far broader impact than the comparable "Pull Your Money" out of the Big Banks venture that was attempted by Huffington Post over a year ago, with unsatisfactory results. If people suddenly personify Bank of America with a First Amendment threat, arguably the one freedom most cherished in America, which is precisely what Assange is trying to do, all bets for the Countrywide acquirer may soon be off.
Below is Bank of America's statement released on Friday night:
Concurrently the bank was declined to comment whether it would be Wikileaks' next target.
This press release by Bank of America provoked the following two tweets out of @wikileas' twitter account:

Obviously it is the conditional "safer" keyword that will get everyone's attention. Especially since it is now known that Wikileaks will release it bank data trove as soon as January.
In retaliation to BofA's provocation, it appears that Assange just fired the preliminary shot in the massive run on Bank of America... and possible soon other US banks?

....and, this is precisely my guess as to why BoA is making its stand, regardless of whatever fallout may come from the supposed Wiki info. I'll bet they're banking on the jingoistic support of enough idiot people like this one. We're Bank of AMERICA, after all!! United We Stand!! Let's Roll!! Fly that flag proudly against that terrorist spy!!
Sheezus.
BofA was Bank of Italy before they changed the name. follow the money...
If that is the way you want to treat those who anger the government, feel free to move to North Korea, you worthless shit.
Your angry post is hard to masturbate to.
I will be very surprised if he has anything. If he did, why not just release it without the theatrics?
Good question... I thought maybe his strategy was to go through the process of getting arrested and released first, and get that out of the way so that when he releases the banking documents they won't have that card to play again..
the data stick, could be considered, stolen property. keeping lost property, is theft, when you know who it belongs to. receiving stolen property, is a felony. that can get you extradited.
He did not take the property and at all times intended to return it...he will do so in January.
Believe it or not, this is a defence used by the police against me when I chartered a plane to bring them onto an island to recover a boat "being withheld" from me. Cute. Maybe too cute when he is up against TPTB.
Simple. If you watch the documentary here >
http://www.fastcompany.com/1709489/the-new-wikileaks-documentary-view-it... you will see that Assange pledged to his anonymous whistle blowers that he will ensure anything sent to him will get the maximum impact in the media. This is why he runs the organization with an iron hand. He understands the value of showmanship. First you hint that you have something big .. then you let the drama build. With this press release from BofA, WL has the perfect ammunition to build the drama on the pending release.
Wonder if the geeks will attack....
im wondering if amercia will ever wake up
Been wondering that myself, lo these many years. I'm beginning to think....not.
all my friends and family are denialists and comfortable being lame
they seek comfort in not having to think cause its too scary and requires effort
its a scary place we are in
Mine too, for the most part anyway. Sometimes I feel bad for sending links that support my viewpoint - after all, what do they care? And sometimes they become annoyed. ANd why has it thus far been impossible for me to believe that some (most?) people are happy wallowing in ignorance. The only answer I have come up with is my friends worship power (i.e., knowing people, social connections, popularity) while I worship truth. It's a tough balance.
Sorry, I don't mean to vent on you, but your post brought up all those familiar questions I run through over and over.
And your post made me think of earlier today when I went and bought some more silver. While the owner was allowing me to fondle a 100 oz. bar (it sure was neat) some other customer asked me if I was buying Christmas presents. Had to say no, because nobody I know would appreciate receiving an ounce of silver as a present, even if I explained my views to them. Not even my kids, whose eyes I've been trying to open. I would just get the eyeroll.
If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second of your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all who claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told you should want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned.
-Tyler
how long did it take you to google all those one liners and put em all in one place?
did you have help?
Apparently not enough help. Some day google will be able to scan the image at the top right of this page for the quote he missed (incompetence) or is trolling with (MBA/Finance 9001 level coursework).
but...but,but....but what he said was, like, so heeaavvy. Deep, man....I mean really deeeep
ummm..that is from the movie from which this website gets its....theme. The movie, that you have apparently have not seen, has a main character named "Tyler". You should check it out sometime.
Maybe I was too harsh. But as you pointed out. This is fightclub. Those quotes are all true and good but without the context and imagery around them around them it could be as easily construed as a well designed advertising campaign for Nike shoes, Red Bull, Shamwow's or PowerScooters.
para: Don't over-Consume ... Just consume our product. Its the only one you'll ever need. Don't follow orders, just the one I am telling you to do here. And most importantly Turn off your computer/information source during some of the most interesting times in history, and go hit on chicks and get a hobby like jogging in Nike shoes. Just do it or become a statistic.
Again, I apologize for being too harsh. But that was my original interpretation.
nah, wisefool, I don't see no "too harsh" there... just take a look at any given thread where two pricks go at each other's throats, etc. LOL. It's me the dummy here: I saw Fight Club, but didn't connect ZH & Tyler (see, I can always enjoy a movie 2nd & 3rd 'cause I don't retain diddly-shit). To the original post...not knowing the context, it just struck me as some twerp putting out a melodramatic thesis on what I should do/be
So here's my "story"... loved the book, loved the movie..love all of Chuck Palahniuk's books..(if you haven't read yet,his shit is a fucking mind blowing orgy of nihilism and fuck society type shit). Anyway,I couldn't have given a shit about economics 2years ago. I was looking into some links between fight club and Zen and found ZH bygoogling fight club..I didn't care about economics because I had no idea we had just come about a pubic hairs width from complete and total collapse. I also "knew" that there was no place to get the truth about anything..What I knew about money was that I had very little and some fat cat fucking banker had plenty. So, enter ZH.."these bastards got big balls" I thought,So through ZH I was turned on to learning more about economics and the veil was lifted. I knew I wasn't the only one that knew deep down that some seriously wrong shit was going on around me..through Zen I learned that all this stuff we think is important is just a mirage..through ZH (and others) I learned that this economy was a mirage too..all this wealth and pomp was a fucking dream a lighting bolt and bubble in a stream...
The odds of that just went down with the the passage of EU Benefits Extension.. So they can afford cable TV and Doritos.. That'll keep the bulk of em busy..
It's appropriate that my first post on ZH is on a BOA story, since I've been trying to tell my loved one / ones to pull his/her/their money out of that institution since the Wikileaks thing went down in earnest.
It feels thrilling and dirty, but I'm also strangely calm. I didn't think my first time would be quite like this...
Hello Ralphie.
How goes it? Reading you guys is turning me into a wannabe silver bug. And here I was converting my fiat money into ammo and spam as a hedge against "interesting times."
'Balance' is the operative strategy. Silver bullets seem to fit the bill.
Damn, at $29 an ounce, the miscreant really better need to be shot. Unless you've got a major werewolf infestation going on, of course.
Or if you're the Lone Ranger. Naturally, when The Ranger was doing it, silver was relatively cheap, and he was a bit of a show-off.
Because of ZH I started buying silver about 3 months ago. Ironically, my first purchase was on September 11th. I get a real kick out of it. You will too.
Ralphie,
You are on the right track. If this goes as badly as many here on ZH believe, they will not be able to hang onto their physical gold or silver unless they have a fully defensible remote location, lots of friends and ammo...and that's just about nobody posting here.
I got a mobile plan. Two actually--Plan A and B with stashed caches along both routes and a remote location as the endpoint.
Welcome to Fight Club.
Buy some Ag
"Also, I found it at least generally interesting and somewhat compelling to note that the official WikiLeaks logo image uploaded here is shown in the form of an hourglass image of the earth that is apparently slowly running out of time. While I may be reading too closely between the lines in this case, it occurs to me in view of the apparent psychotic personality of Mr. Julian Assange, that his personal choice made to create this particular logo image may in fact amount to a demonstration on his part in alluding to an ideal that -- "Time is running out for freely available worldwide Internet communications."
Just saying..."
http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2010/07/wikileaks-works-for-cia-and-mossad.html
While it is possible that wikileaks works for the mossad, I doubt it. They really have too much to lose if it is determined that they have supported it. I think a more plausible explanation is that these cables are from subordinates who transmit messages that they think their superiors want to hear.
I know many here do not like Michael Moore, but I would suggest you read his article in regards to a cable about his film Sicko!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michael-moore/viva-wikileaks-sicko-was_b_798586.html
Thanks for posting the link. I'm sure it was overlooked just because the name Michael Moore was attached to it. Talk about lemmings.
edited.
Welcome, Ralphie!
I can't get through to family members about BofA either.
I read you got your ammo. (They must have restocked the shelves since my last purchase.)
Got Silver?
Virgins have to fight.
Sweet.
"Push the button stamper !"
Yep.
Enough is enough.
Going down to BOA this morning.
Moving my business account and personal stuff to Rabobank. Maybe some local credit union.
Sure its less than $100,000, but say goodbye to all future cross selling as well as my kids accounts/business too. Say goodbye to my mortgage too.
I was thinking about a refi/short sale, but now I am just going to squat it out for 2 years and then burn the muther down.
Fuck You Bank of America.
Red Coat Corporate Slag.
your not the only one who feels this way, ask the state of nevada lol
If your mortgage is underwater, might I suggest you walk away from it?
Never walk away from it. Don't pay, and ask for the wet-ink note if they foreclose.
+1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Stay until they show up to physically haul you out... then leave. You should be able to live there for a couple years. Stick it to those predators who produce nothing, and create fiat-debt-money out of thin air.
I bought at a decent rate and decent price after the housing bust. I intentionally pay the mortgage payment 8-10 days into each month, so that the servicer (GMAC) panics and calls me up to harass me treating me like the payment is late. I know it costs them money to do this, so I love it.
They're turds (and not the TF-metal kind I love so dear). I love how they freak out, even though my mortgage payment isn't technically "late" per my contract. I love screwing these lenders as much as possible. F them man.
as i mentioned above
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/18/business/18mortgage.html?_r=2&hp
Don't short sale. In states with no recourse, a short sale gives the banks the power to
come after the balance. Just let the fucker go.
I seem to remember about a year ago reading something regarding certain banks placing some sort of restriction on large withdrawals. The bank could, at its own discrection, require you to give them advance written notice if you planned on close your account or withdraw a large sum. Anyone else remember getting updated "terms" from a bank?
I'm sure any run would "trigger" this requirement.
I believe that restriction was for cash withdrawals. Simply open an account at a small, local bank then write yourself a check drawn from BodA and deposit it into your new instituion. No need to ever go into a BofA branch again.
That assumes you want to keep fiat currency in an account. Much better to write a check to APMEX.
Not true at least for Citi bank
Seen on a recent Citibank statement: "Effective April 1, 2010, we reserve the right to require (7) days advance notice before permitting a withdrawal from all checking accounts. While we do not currently exercise this right and have not exercised it in the past, we are required by law to notify you of this change."…

thanks, fxguy, I forgot about that. Yeah, when I saw that I'm thinkin' the end approaches... oooops - maybe it was just "April Fool" ya think?
If you still bank with those a-holes, you can still make a difference:
Withdraw your funds, now, and place them elsewhere. Not that I like to see people jump through hoops, but it should be mandatory for ZH membership to have nothing to do with the TBTF's.
I had an account with BofA for twenty years until five years ago when it was revealed that they were giving credit cards to illegal aliens. I closed my account as soon as I heard and moved it to a local bank...which was bought by the Chinese about a month later. It's now East-West Bank. The more I think about it, a bank owned by Chinese interests is probably safer these days than any bank around (even if it still falls under the Fed).
I also found how screwed I was getting from BofA on fees as a result of the move. Abandon BofA and go to a local bank or a credit union. Avoid the mega-banks, start looking at where checks are drawn from and refuse to accept them when they come from BofA, JPM, Chase, etc. Declare the checks unacceptable for payment and demand cash or money order.
Agreed. I keep my few worthless paper dollars in a credit union. The TBTF's are not even worthy of my worthless paper. Hopefully Assange will drop a nuke on BofA soon. Then we can buy the f*&#$% dip again, except I won't be buying BofA.

Three cheers for APMEX. They're great so far.
Except they bank with JPM nowdays... wtf is up with that? I hope everyone that orders from them adds a note that asks them to bank elsewhere when they submit their order.
Good point... I did notice that last time I wired money to them. And you're right, I should have complained about that, and they should listen since JPM massively manipulates the silver market they serve.
jpm gets the inside info on apmex sales volume, and possibly customer info. they want to know where there silver is going, in case they have to send someone to get it back. these people are ruthless criminals, don't think their scam can't get uglier
You are absolutely correct. That's why everyone absolutely must hide their silver well, and have a very carefully conceived story to tell the thugs when they come looking for your silver and gold.
Here is one tip. Buy a GPS that displays longitude and latitude in degrees-minutes-seconds (not just a stupid highway map). Then go bury your hoard of gold and silver deep underground in very remote places in the boonies. Record their locations from the GPS, but reformulate the numbers when you write them down (example, write the numbers in reverse order, and as telephone numbers or something else that doesn't look anything like coordinates). Then save this information in several places (since nobody can read them or understand their significance even if they find them). And make sure you hide your stashes in 5 to 10 different places, just in case you forget where one of them is (lose your paper record). Do not tell anyone else where it is. Trust no one.
Insurance
Again, very good advice. I've been debating with myself about insurance now that my PMs are in the region of serious loss for me if they ever get stolen. Should I include them in my household insurance policy? or a separate one? How secure are insurance company DBs? That sort of debate - but you've given me food for thought.
I may take your advice and squirrel them away somewhere, but the thought of going out into the English countryside with a GPS and shovel is too Pirates of the Caribbean for me to keep a straight face. I'll just have to weigh the risks and do what I need for my future regardless of how it might look to others. :)
Yeah, I know how that sounds and feels.
But conventional thinking doesn't work. The reason it doesn't work should be obvious --- the predators (and everyone else) knows what is conventional, so they have plenty of time to figure out how to defeat you.
Maybe you can figure out another massively obscure way to accomplish the same result. One idea I had long ago was to put a whole slew of largish copper or brass pipes in "the basement" or somewhere they seemed to belong in the house (near existing water pipes and such). Some of them might carry water, but others might simply be stuffed full of Gold Buffalo or Maple Leaf gold coins. As long as you do a thorough job (make the exposed pipes run into the walls, then travel up the wall a substantial distance), the chances anyone would figure out your scam is very low. I don't do this because I do not own a home (because I always refused to go into debt), but maybe this is good for someone who plans to stay put and go down with the ship.
I am thoroughly impressed with your ideas! Obviously, I haven't put myself in that unconventional mode of thinking yet, but I can see what you are getting at now. If you ever have a job in the creative industries, that sector would be very lucky to have you.
Many thanks.
honestann, you may not wanna trust your GPS either. the magnetic pole is moving. a good ol' fashioned treasure map is best. make it cryptic, make it fun. make your life a fucking adventure.
Sorry, GPS is not based on the magnetic poles. But good that you're alert enough to think of that possibility. Be very, very careful with maps... they can be very easy to figure out, especially if people know you hold wealth in gold or silver bullion.
yes, upon further research, you might very well be right on this. it seems to be dependent on the system, i think some of them do depend on magnetic north, even if most of them calibrate true north. nevertheless, the coordinates are based on satellite readings, yes? and what if those satellite transmissions for some reason or another cease to exist?
as far as maps are concerned, i'm more than happy to send some ignorant goons on a wild goose chase to 'x marks the spot'. and anyone who is able to get my sense of humor and schizophrenia is well deserving of whatever wealth i may have accumulated should i no longer be of this earth to need it.
what i'm proposing is that true wealth is not in what has been accumulated already but in the adventures & risks that one is willing to undertake...like your once & future island travels for example. to me, the taste of a mango freshly cut off a tree with one's own hands is worth its weight in gold.
Yes, GPS is based upon a whole slew of satellites orbiting earth.
I must admit, the image you paint of JPM criminals driving around in the boonies, hauling shovels miles off the road, and digging a whole bunch of pointless holes in the ground... is humorous and very appealing. I like the idea of having a bunch of misleading maps, but I wouldn't want my treasure buried anywhere on those maps. If you're gonna have maps, hide your goodies somewhere else entirely.
Yes, it is true that the exploring for places to go was great. Actually fabulous. Since I lived in Maui for 18 years (until very recently), I've eaten endless tropical fruit the way you describe. And yes, it is always just luscious. We'll have to see how well I do on islands that have no 10,000 to 14,000 foot mountains. I'm sure you're just as amazed as me at how few people are willing to do anything "unusual" and wonderful any more. Crazy.
thanks for the info capt'n. tho lemme ask you this: knowing what you know, why in the fuck would you want to do business with them??? you think they're gonna stop banking with JPM cuz you write them a letter asking them to stop? please. what everyone should do is write them a letter and tell them to fuck off and that you're taking your business elsewhere.
" then write yourself a check drawn from BodA and deposit it into your new instituion"
That is exactly what the nice lady at my small, local, community bank suggested when I opened my account there and closed my BofA account way back in the Ken Lewis days...
EMMMM BEEEE EYE A, BofA. Isn't it interesting "after the mortgage insurers collapsed" (hmmm, mort-gauge, mort-gauge) they "suddenly rallied." Precisely WHAT was being insured BofA et al? I "have a doubt" as they say that "you're BofA Rolls is big enuff" to "hand off the McBags of Money to the occupants of the MBIA Rolls." Rolls of money....rolls of money. Just "rolls off the lips" does it not? Not quite up there with "insurable risk" however. Ponder those two words for a moment...and add a "what is it?" Of course "maybe it's just bizness as usual in Police Room 619." Take note however "the Dead Pool" just coughed up, was it 12 billion? One guy no less! And "a Judge named Picard" of course "is suddenly on a Justice mission."
Why all the bullshit over payment stops? Why the fuck do these companies care where money goes? So much money gets scammed, automatically payment scams ( those things where they continue to bill until you wait on the phone for 2 hours to talk to some indian who tries to talk you out of it) all these porn sites, lots of shady drug online sites... All that... Ok. But donating to this isn't? I surely hope they release the hounds on every bank. Hope the hackers have their say.
Dude, I laugh every time I see your name.
BofA are total amateurs. Lloyd would have already had the top levels of Wiki infiltrated by now and would be in total control. BofA pfffffft
What makes you think they haven't already done that?
BofA has forever struck me as the sucker at the poker table. I doubt they have the smarts to pull this off.
Tyler, what interests me is the second tweet seems to insinuate, to me, that what they're going to release would either make having $$ at BoA unsafe, or prove that it's unsafe *right now*
It's suprising to me, because, what info could they have??!?!?! I mean we already know BoA is broke & wouldn't exist without government. Soooo .... ???
Most of the people I know have no idea they are broke. They would never believe it without proof. Every silly thing the talking heads on TV say they nod is solmn agreement.
The very worst thing BoA or the Government can do is treat WiliLeaks as a serious threat. It will make the idiots i've described stop and listen.
ding ding, we have a winner.
reverse psycology is a bitch 'aint it'.
I suspected this whole thing as a front from the beginning and you can now see the proof starting to surface now. Stories about the ties of wikileaks to insider big money and the MSM.
This whole thing just stinks of a reason for or a scapegoat for BofA to fail and 'force' the gov to bail out(crash) the whole system.
Any story that could be damaging to the powers is never discussed but always ignored!!!
you can now see the proof starting to surface now. Stories about the ties of wikileaks to insider big money and the MSM
If you believe that "stories" are "proof" then I suppose that you also believe that pigs have the ability to build houses from a variety of materials and that talking bears sometimes have run ins with little blond girls.
...The very worst thing BoA or the Government can do is treat WiliLeaks as a serious threat...
When Bigov Dems mated with Bigbusi Reps they gave birth to the likes of the "New" GM and TBTF banks fed by the wet nurse Bernanke.
Don't expect the parents to do anything else but try to protect their progeny. I agree however, when the parents get involved, the sovereign citizenry better be ready to justify their indignation and face down the illigitamacy of the heir apparent. Power of the sword is no laughing matter. imo.
Release that encryption key NOW Assange!
Goddamnit!
boa = bank of asshole
any enemy of boa - whose people are the most obnoxious arrogant assholes i have ever done business with - is a friend of mine..
fuck boa
It's becoming more and more apparent that they will indeed need to pry my .44 Mag from my corpse's grip.
Your job is not to die for your beliefs, but make them die for theirs.
+1000
It is better to have one man that would kill for his cause than to have 10 that would die for it.
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

Oh man...
I keep thinking that I will actually have a day when there is NOT a headline coming out of BoA...which stands for Blight on America bank...but I guess that is not today, which really sucks because it is Saturday and I have NOT EVEN finished my coffee.
Personally, I would have nothing to do with this bank based on about three years worth of reading about it. I cannot believe ANYONE would have ANYTHING to do with the Blight upon America banks...now considering that they are going to go ahead and attack free speech...TOO! What next?
Maybe I am looking at this all wrong...and the criminal syndicate known as Wall Street constantly gives me that feeling that I am always looking at this all wrong. I think that they think that the headline could [ALWAYS] be worse. Now I'm not sure how that is the case after three years of headlines that almost certainly are worse..but I guess the BoA headline was NOT, and I repeat the HEADLINE WAS NOT
Blight upon America bank Changes Mortgage Collateral Policy: now only accepts dead puppies.
I think we can all agree that IF THAT WERE THE ACTUAL HEADLINE AT Blight of America bank, WHICH IT IS NOT...but if it was, then the criminal syndicate known as Wall Street would be correct that the real headline could have been worse. It would be hard for me to admit that, but I'd have to man up if the criminal syndicate known as Wall Street ever turned out to be right on this matter.
But what do I know? My bank has 4 branches. That's right....four [corrected...sorry]. So I am definitely not hip to the whole hey, man, my bank has 14,000 branches man. In fact, that strikes me as dangerous. Especially when the news is CONSTANTLY WORSE...even on freakin' Saturdays.
Good grief.
Cdad
Excellent, Cdad. I'm going to have to ask my parents and grandparents about the euphemisms used to describe the other depressions. Oops, that's right, we can't call them depressions unless used in conjunction with a reference to the Great Depression. Exaggerate for reference.....but pull em' back from the edge by calling it a recession er, downturn. Man I can't stand that phrase.
Pants McPants,
That is a very strange name. If you write back, please explain that thing.
As for "euphemisms"...please explain that too...because I am not at all sure what "euphemisms" you are referring to...but I would like to know.
Cdad
McPants is a silly name that I copied from someone else's avatar. It made me smirk, so I copied it.
The euphemism remark was aimed at how we use langauge. Language is important - as we all know - and those who control the message can shape thoughts both consciously and unconsciously. Your use of the phrase "it could be worse" made me wonder how language was controlled during other depressions. I dressed up my earlier post in bitterness/sarcasm....so I apologize for any confusion.
I enjoy reading your comments. Cheers.
Seriously? Are you serious about this statement?
Please, do tell...
Cdad
P.S.
Seriously? Are you serious? Ummm, where did you copy the avatar from? Painfully curious, am I.
Yeah, serious about it, as in....the nature of the statement "it could be worse" be it headlines or whatever. You can neither prove or disprove that statement, but most give it a pass without thinking about it. I wonder if similar games were played in year's past. That's all.
McPants was from a college football forum, one dedicated to the Florida Gators IIRC. One of his regular commentors was named Pants McPants. I copied it...yeah, I'm not original. Ha.
There is nothing new under the sun ...
Back in the day, those son of bitches at BofA begged me to borrow money to fund my real estate development and building company. I obliged to such a degree it was actually written up in the WSJ when things started going to hell. As I told them, "you looked at the same shit I did and you're the one that gave me the money for it". Although I woundn't want to go through that again, it does make a fellow feel a litle pleasure knowing that I managed to break a little something off in their ass.
Served them right. The thing is that professor Steve Keen has "proven" (if it is even possible to "prove" stuff in economics) that when bank profits exceed 1% of GDP, the clock starts running and the whole excess has something between 3-5 years to go before it tanks. That rule has worked perfectly over the past century all over the planet. Big finance is a parasite that kills the host, once too big.
Even before it is too big it is a problem. It steals from productive labor.. If people truly understood what the finance industry does to working people the street poles would have decorations hanging from them and it wouldn't be gingerbread men..
probably wouldn't of been a good idea anyway, to have my last name be
Giannini, so thanks a lot my little angel†
it is fuuny in a way to think of an investment in gold as a way to 'revolt' against BofA. The Giannini family still owns the entire area around and including Sutters Creek where the gold rush was...
i am not sure that is correct.
"Safer."
Words are such funny little things.
BofA has been a walking corpse for 2 years, this will just speed things up.
A matter of time.
Too late - I took all our funds out of BoA months ago.
I don't have any money in any big bank (except Ally) which I'm in the process of moving. Credit Unions is the way to go.The way it is going, however hopeful we might be for BofA to reap what it sowed, nothing is really going to happen. Wikileaks can leak anything and no one is going to care. And I'm surprised to see Tyler think that Americans care about the 1st amendment. They don't.
Btw, Americans surely did not invent guerrilla warfare!
http://www.suite101.com/content/shivaji-the-great-exponent-of-guerrilla-...
I think there are quite a few people who will care, and that lawsuits will follow. BoA has already lawyered up in anticipation.
As an earlier Post stated, their isn't anything that could be revealed that would surpise any of us. Unless they have a video of all the Bankster conspiring to all of whats happened. Aside from that, it's all meaningless.
Any chance Julian wants to join forces with the silver vigilantes?
If Julian is not some kind of CIA deal, I would argue they already have. This is guerrilla warfare baby. Pops up across the countryside, no centralization no organization, just is. If there is no head, you can't cut the head off and kill it. Each according to your means, right here, right now. For some it is getting out of TBTF banks and/or getting into precious metals. Some tell family and friends even as they are ridiculed. Some buy and store arms and ammo and get training. Some buy and store food. For me, I spend time in my classes with my students on this topic. Anon knows how to HACK and slash these bitches (God I hope that is for real and not some Wag the Dog shit). Each of us has something to do, something to give.
It's on. This is not hyperbole.

Fuck yeah!
Don't be surprised if the media spins this as bank haters aka Gold/Silver bugs, or other people who oppose central banking as being de facto in line with Wikileaks. A real BofA bank run will surely get many American citizens with no criminal history labeled as domestic terrorists.
Wear Your Gestapo-Homeland Insecurity Domestic Terrorist Badge Proudly!
If you are reading and/or posting at ZH...
You ARE a domestic terrorist ;>) ...
I can't believe anyone has anything to do with that bank either.
When the headline read, "Assange to be indicted under US espionage act" last week, I used a few choice words along with a question, "Does Washington want to be nuked?"
Now it's BofA's turn. It almost seems like the fuckers who have caused so much misery are so sure there will never be retribution for their crimes, that they are now taunting people to lop their ugly heads off from their ivory towers. Considering what they have gotten away with so far, I'm not surprised they think they're untouchable, but bloody hell! I can't imagine the super ego-maniacal, sadistic delusions that must course through these people's heads to make them think they can pauperise millions, steal citizens' money, their houses, and their future, AND their freedom to speak grievances through publishers like Wikileaks. A reality check is badly needed for these bankers and their minions in Washington.
Sure seems like it. But I'm hoping they save it for a joint session of Congress. Otherwise, you just have a remission.
nuked = chemo
Nice!
pride goeth before the fall - herodotus
Assange is building hype around the release so it gets full coverage in the MSM press . The real question is will it be something nobody knows or will it be like the other leaks a confirmation of what everybody already knew. The character (ass)assination (ange)l won't get his wings til he does actually leak something not already written about 100k times on the internet. At least for me .
Negative, bingaling, like too many Americans you speak from a superficial knowledge and miss everything.
Those Wikileaked cables are confirmation of aiding, abetting and collusion by the US government in a number of criminal and fraudulent activities, whether it range from knowledge, and collusion, with bribery, spying on the top-level UN types, Pfizer's unethical and illegal drug tests in Nigeria, or any other number of things, these cables are legally submissable in true courts of law.
The salient question is: does America have any true legal system left?
From the Supreme Criminal Court of the USA, one might say no!
There's always some lone nut judge or prosecutor here and there who still believes the crap they were taught in school. They'll try to do the right thing and probably draw a lot of attention to their efforts.
Then they'll either be found dead in their office from 4 or 5 rounds of self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the back of their head, or they'll turn out to have raped blind Thai refugee babies during a business trip that they never even took.
But it's all good.
100 BAC 12$ Feb puts and 1000 IAU $15 April calls bitchez!
After hours party on me at the Fed!
My feeling is that Wikileaks is in its infancy, that it will grow larger and larger and more and more effective as months pass. To discredit these people may be folly...... They are specialists and experienced, their appeal is growing.
What we have seen so far is a low level application of technology..... They have not taken over any sizeable sites to date and they have not shut down any repeater stations to date.
The internet is actually quite vulnerable, hopefully they do not decide to become really destructive.
I doubt this is going to make much of a dent in BAC stock.
Any selloff will eventually be met by a pack of wolves..."enterprising speculators" seeking a bargain to pick up BAC on the cheap.
I have my bank accounts at BAC, and I've been a customer there since I moved to California in 1987. I have known the tellers at the downtown Manhattan Beach branch for over 15 years, and they all know me.
I have no intention of moving my banking accounts elsewhere because of some stunt pulled by Assange, which will be long forgotton six months from now.
Ya know, Robo, the first image that popped into my feeble little mind after reading you post, was of Slim Pickins riding the nuke out of the B-52.
...and don't forget to put all your cash into BoA fiduciaries, RT!
robo, have to now say, i think your a piece of wholesome SHIT†
"The tellers all know me"
That's rilly special.
so do the guys in my cellblock

I suspect Bank of America is as guilty as most, but will taking them down change anything. Bear Stearns, Lehman, and Madoff are gone, but that didn't seem to change anything. In fact, it could be exactly what TPTB wanted.
I haven't seen anything yet from wikileaks or the government that clearly contradicts the interests of TPTB, which is to create a government big enough and powerful enough to:
1. give them cover through legitimacy and obscurity
2. create even more regulations to eliminate new and existing comptetitors
3. create even more regulations that let them skim our wealth through inflation, bailouts, and other means
4. create even more regulations that help them manipulate the economy up and down so they can profit from it
5. placate the people with entitlements paid for by the people and purchased from the TPTB
6. make the people dependent on government for - everything
7. know where every penny was spent, who spent it, on what, and who received it
8. control everything: "We're sorry Mr. Future Jim, the register will not ring up your ammunition purchase because you posted something on Zerohedge."
Cash only, man. And remember those flea markets in the next county over.
This whole Wiki thing is still too soap opera for me to take seriously.
Yes, there were some embarassing disclosures, but like a classic burlesque strip show,
you never get to see the naughty bits, just the tease.
Everyone so far has played their role well.
That's what I noticed about the Wikileaks release....nothing exactly horrible. Disagreeable maybe, embarrassing perhaps, but that's it. I'd bet my children other nations talk the same way about us.
Please cite specific examples of the cables you have read.
Might be why every msm outlet were pumping the fins into the weekend.
I used to do business with BofA. I was always treated well, kinda, by the workers.
There are places one can look up the strength of a Bank. The ratings I have found for BofA have put it at the top of the bad list. I’m not too sure about this Wikileaks guy, but his advice on BofA may be of value.
The combination of getting jacked around with my account, what I have learned on ZH, and the poor rating of BofA led me to close my account. I am not sure if I agree or disagree with that bank’s move on Wikileaks, too much unknown. I don’t think I would close my account over that issue, just like I still have my Payapal account.
You threw a rock in a battle. Not a bad start. It won't bring the beast down, but it made a small dent that coupled with more of us doing small things, will make it so that they have a harder time doing what they do.
Death by a thousand cuts.
Even better advice == remove all your wealth from every financial institution. For those who need the convenience, keep one or two months of spending money in one [checking] account, and have one or two credit or debit cards to pay for everyday items.
Convert all paper assets to real, physical gold, silver, platinum, palladium, rural/boonies farmland, seeds, gardening/farming equipment and supplies, self-sufficiency systems, weapons, ammo and other real, physical, [productive] goods. Also try to own that farmland in a out of the way foreign country with a not terribly intrustive government. Note that many "minor" governments treat foreigners vastly better than their own "slaves".
It seems like just about nobody takes the atrocities happening today seriously.
I'm leaving the USSA permanently in T minus 4 months and counting. Even vocal liberty-oriented people I know are still willing to be molested by the TSA. What the frack is wrong with them? Are their minds totally disconnected from their bodies (their actions)? When I told them I'm either driving to Canada or Mexico to fly from there (assuming they don't have a TSA equivalent in 4 months), or finding some kind of private transpo, they all think I'm crazy or silly.
What the frack? Do people not understand that talk is worthless at this point in history, and only action means anything? I guess not. That's why I'm leaving instead of "staying and fighting"... because almost nobody else willing to walk the walk like I do. There's no shortage of talkers, but an almost total lack of action takers.
Just wondering. Do any of you walk the walk? In what ways? Anything more "inconvenient" than switching from BankOfAmerika to another criminal organization? I mean, nothing wrong with this action, and nothing wrong with switching wealth from fiat paper to gold and silver... but I mean something more substantial. Anyone?
A lot of us are staying just to shoot back. Where do you think you're going?
I hate to say it, but "shooting back" will not work. That's the worst choice. If you wait for them to come to you, they are well prepared, and you will go down in flames (and/or bullets). If indeed people get angry enough to fight back, they damn well better take it seriously and fight an opportunistic revolutionary war, guerrilla style... where you focus on chopping off the heads and top levels of the Medusa (not their paid thugs, unless necessary) and take them out when and where they are not expecting you, and are not prepared for you. But I see almost no evidence americans today can effectively organize with each other for common purpose, and even less evidence they'll actually do anything. Good luck with that.
We took a survey trip over a year ago to scope out possible places. We like some places we checked out in South America (extreme boonies in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina). There's a fairly good chance we'll buy a 60~100 foot ocean-worthy vessel and very slowly wander the south pacific, and hang around on for a few weeks or months (or longer) on totally empty (unpopulated) islands.
NewZealand has some beautiful areas, but is much more humid, wetter and colder than we prefer... and a bit too much like a typical western corruption pit (on the official/government side of things).
I have one possible 1~2 year contract operating a scientific installation on a south pacific island starting next March or April. We'd be the only ones on the island... a perfect gig as far as I'm concerned, but I won't know whether that gig will happen until a month before we leave. I've lived solo at remote scientific facilities before, tens of miles from the nearest human, for up to 7 years at a time, and I totally love that kind of life. I also got lots of experience installing self-sufficiency systems (solar, wind, battery, electrical, water collection and purification, etc)... and keeping them working. I've been asking around here and there to see whether anyone else wants to join our effort, but like I said above, nobody these days seems to be willing to actually do anything. I find this very strange.
Wrong. At the bottom of the pyramid is exactly where you start applying pressure, with the enablers, supporters and sympathizers of the regime. That's where the soft targets are.
I'm not saying you avoid them completely, but you damn well do not go after them when and where they are ready for you. In other words, you don't go to the airport and start shooting TSA agents, as much as these serial molesters deserve it. You make a list of their names, you find out where they live, and you follow them until they are somewhere you can take them out with zero danger to yourself. Understand, they can create infinite money to pay jack booted thugs, and they are doing so, and as they will do so even more when you begin your campaigns. If you are not smart and opportunistic, you are dead.
Just keeping my eyes open, an ear to the ground and biding my time. Anybody who's kinda crazy can be a hero. It takes a different mindset to be a survivor.
"Anybody who's kinda crazy can be a hero. It takes a different mindset to be a survivor."
V.well put.
I agree with that too. In fact, since nobody in the USSA is willing to stand up for honesty, liberty, justice or individualism, I am taking exactly the survivor approach. I'm leaving the USSA in 4 months, never to return. And I will be doing everything I can to establish a totally self-sufficient existence... and I do mean totally (no connection to any corporate infrastructure that I must pay monthly bills for).
So my question really is, how many others are taking real, substantial kinds of "survivor" steps? Hell, I've been looking to find others in the liberty community to join forces so we can establish a more robust and more comfortable version of what I'll be doing on my own. Result: Those who [say they] are "willing" have zero savings (and often lots of debt)... and those who have any savings they could invest to "do something" are planning to hang around and be slaughtered by the predators when the system collapses.
So where the hell do we find real survivors... meaning people willing to take real, substantial actions? Yes, converting all paper wealth into real, physical gold and silver is a start... but probably very insufficient the way things are going.
Anyone? Will I be the only survivor? Sheesh!
You're not alone. I'm still in the planning and prepping stages currently, but I'm hopeful in 7 to 8 months I'll be able to drop out of the whole sorry game for good.
By the way, I've really enjoyed your posts.
Good for you! Are you planning to hide out somewhere in the boonies of the USSA, or heading to freer pastures?
Interestingly, almost every countries allow visitors and foreigners to live more freely in their country then their own citizens. We can take advantage of this.
A lot of us might like to bail and move out of country but cannot for practical business and family reasons. I still hope to get the hell outta Kalifornia someday and that is more realistic. But if you can do it I congratulate you, it's probably a great move.
Agree there is a lot of worthless talk and no action. Despite a slight shift in the recent elections, its just more of the same with a slightly changed tilt. The two party system with two entrenched crooked beyond repair political groups doesn't work any more. Hence, the elections were another missed chance to make some change and the sheeple continue to follow along blindly. Way too many suckin on the gubmint teet to ever hope for any change.
You are all late getting out of BoA ... they finally pissed me off beyond repair almost 2 years ago. I moved out low 8 figures (mostly clients' and friends' money). Said a few nice goodbyes to the few tellers that I had known for 20+ years (who completely understood why I was leaving, no surprise there), but the bank had become a complete joke at the time - rotating 20-something year old "Managers" several times a year and completely losing touch with their customers (this had been the L.A. Main branch, which moved to a smaller location and became more like a small consumer branch, complete with 2 inch thick plexiglass covering the teller windows like some ghetto post office (this in the heart of the L.A. financial district). I have also watched a family member try to get a mortgage mod (for honest reasons) and get jerked around and around and around for a year and a half to the point where it is cruel (it would have been far less cruel to just say no 18 months ago versus continuing his hope but jerking him around). BofA is either incompetent beyond any stretch of the imagination or crooked - and my assessment is that they are crooked beyond comprehension and that the incompetence is by design.
F**k BofA!
