After Shoving Foot Down Throat, Krugman Now Gives His Few Remaining Readers Comment Etiquette Tips
One of the first, and arguably most stupid responses following Saturday's tragic shooting news, came from none other than self-appointed economic seer Paul Krugman (whose "government must spend more" ubiquitous retort to everything would have long-since bankrupted the world ten times over and left it with quadrillions of unrepayable debt), who in a post so disjointed and rambling, very unprofessionally decided against waiting for the dust to clear and facts to emerge, and instead proceeded to blame the republicans and the tea party for the tragic events that transpired: "We don’t have proof yet that this was political, but the odds are that it was." Today he proceeds to infuriate his few remaining readers with a blog post which one can say is even more intellectually challenged than its predecessor.
1. Obscenity will get your comment deleted; I suspect that a fair number of commenters don’t even realize they’re doing it, because that’s the way many of us #$%^! talk these days. But think about it, and don’t waste your time or mine.
2. Stay on the topic of the post.
3. New rule, if you haven’t seen it: Nazi/Hitler references are out unless clearly relevant.
4. Get your insults right. There is, I believe, a fair bit of evidence against the hypothesis that I’m stupid. What you mean to say is that I’m evil.
We are fairly certain that Paul is absolutely wrong about point 4, but will will give him the And/And benefit of the doubt.
It is one thing for Krugman to be wrong about everything. He merely
provides an easy target for those who actually understand that his
policy solutions have crossed the imbecile twilight zone. However, when he engages in pointless hate-filled and fact-free rhetoric, it may be time for the NYT, in its endless pursuit of objective, impartial content of course, to consider severing ties with the man who is now a mockery to all but himself.

well, fuck my ass and call me hitler!!
to ZH staff: thank you for always advocating free speech over manners. This place means so much to me for that reason (among many others). It isn't always pleasant, but neither is life. Thank you all for your dedication to reality!
BTW, has anyone else seen the P&T: bullshit episode on sensitivity training? This came to mind instantly.

"my friends call me LSD"
All zero hedge readers should comment on krugmans posts. Give him a hedgie!
The New York times is pinning its credibility on one guy whose job is to comment on the economy. But now Krugman, who every lazy progressive( And I sometimes can be considered a progressive) follows as mantra, gets to lead the NYTimes down his dark and weird path of control economics, para- intelligentsia Soviet government and flatout not-so-smart assumptions about life and systems. He is just always wrong in his predictions, his call to actions and his assumed motivations of humanity.
What a penile implant...
The Congresswoman was subscribed to just 2 people on YouTube. One of them was Jared Loughner. His mom and the Congresswoman were members of the same Reform temple. Was this Loughner creep simply a jilted MILF-lover?
www.youtube.com/user/connectingdots1#p/u/1/KOT5BdHgpHs
Lots of weirdness there.
As we delve more deeply, things only get curiouser and curiouser. As usual down a rabbit hole.
One little detail that does not flesh out. Look at the Youtube account either in this video or on youtube (her account is Gifford2). In the video you can see two subscribers but now on her account there is only one. What is the same in the vid and on her account currently is her age, which is listed as 27. The Congresswoman in 40.
It is more than possible that a staffer is running her social networking accounts. That person might have created the subscription to Loughner. It's unlikely she was running this account. So, who was?
Crazy Krugman. In that careful hardwire act between insanity and genius, Krugman long ago fell over the cliff into the insanity abyss! I question the sanity or intellectual integrity of ANYONE that still gives the man any credibility.
"Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad"
I mean, did the guy randomly shoot the congresswoman as just any drive-by would have done? Or was it aimed at her from the beginning? If it was aimed at her since inception then, is it because the guy had a personal fief with her or because of anything about her politics? I guess it's the latter. And if that's the case, well, then it's a politically motivated shooting.
And yes, like it or not, the rethoric about violence, about guns, about socialist conspiracies and baby/granny killers don't come from the (inexistant) left in the US. So guess what?
Your left out one small detail . . . the guy was mentally ill. Completely nuts. So his "political motivation," if any, is most likely irrelevant, no? So seeking to ascribe a political motivation to him (and, by implication, to paint with a very broad brush other members of Group X, Y or Z) might reveal more about the motivation of the observer/commentator herself, no? Just a thought. Other than that one small detail, your analysis was spot on! You really nailed it.
And +1 for the "[nonexistent] left in the US." My first chortle of the day is always a good one.
your theory that this type of rhetoric doesn't come from the left has been debunked. Go to Simon Black's latest thread and read through it. I don't have time to point out the exact post but do your homework before commenting would save a lot of hot air.
Tyler,
I have to agree with you.
Krugman is a disgrace, and the NYT will continue to wash away any remaining brand equity it maintains by continuing to keep deranged individuals like this on the payroll.
Krugman's can in no way be classified as (or anything close to) "All the news that is fit to print."
I heard they were going to change that to "All the news that fits the narrative."
+10
Stupid, evil? no
biased, manipulative, immoral, irrational, elitist? absolutely
Calling this guy stupid is a funny thing. Stupid like a fox, I'd say.
He gets paid millions a year for delivering a pro-establishment "everything will be ok" message designed to appeal to a broad swath of the affluent class of the citizenry. It's possible he believes this bullshit--in the case of a guy like Tom Friedman there can be little doubt--but there's no PROOF of that. He may very well own a ranch in Paraguay with a few million in PMs locked in the panic room.
Stupid?
Stupid would be believing with 100% certainty that an apparatchik mouthpiece writing for the NYT is expressing his honest opinion.
As soon as I figure out how to pull off the same scam, I'm there, yo. Honesty is only for pseudonyms.
As with other liberal media personalities, Krugman has little concern for any potential repercussions, no matter how irresponsible, reprehensible, ridiculous, or completely untrue their public utterances might be. He is simply doing his part for “the cause”…
The totalitarians of the left are ‘above’ such triviality. To them, the ends justify the means; and “the cause” is far more important than any “standards” to which they might be held by the unwashed masses.
To the leftists, the only “real” enemies are Republicans -- foreign enemies are of little if any consequence -- because only Republicans stand in the way of their acquisition of power.
And the elitist leftists with whom Krugman associates (within their little cocoon) will privately express their approval and appreciation for his efforts. As usual…just as they will do next time.
And they couldn’t care less that many of us are well aware of this. Just another day at the office…
On the other hand, etiquette sucks donkey cock. Adolph Krugman is a pea-brained Nazi scumbag dickless bitch (polite term: “fuckstickless cunt“) who worships Satan when he’s not eating shit. (He gives a whole new meaning to “bottom feeder”.) And that can never be “off-topic“.
And they call me arrogant?
i just came from getting my hair done. my gal never heard a word about the tucson killings. not one word. her wHOLE salon, she owns it, has 10 chairs and she never heard customers or other employee's say anything about this! i was amazed, simply jaw dropping. then i remembered i was in boulder!
then i went to pay and the gal pulls out the swiper, i said "never use one". then she slide a pen towards me, nope never use one. ???????? handed her a couple of benies, i don't think anyone pays cash, especially high priced services.
but i yelled out to everyone buy a silver coin. my gal told me her father and brother told her to do the same. her brother gave her young son 18 months, a gold coin for Xmass.
Boy, some of you folks are just fucking nuts.
I agree with Krugman for once on the violent rhetoric. If none of you live in Arizona you cannot even imagine the poisoned atmosphere here during this past fall election. We had millions and millions of dollars in television commercials that did not have to state who was funding them. (Thanks Citizens United!) These television commercials were terrifying even if you did not have mental problems.
Sarah Palins rallies here were like 'hate' rallies, every white supremacist group and pro life group (our own national terrorist organization since they have no problem with doctors being shot down, even in church). Theses groups have always been here, in the past it was a hot bed for the John Birchers......which is the group that used to be the 'teaparty' and one that Palin identified with when she was young. All gun fanatics.
But when McCain picked Palin, these fringe groups gained great power. And when McCain refused to condemn some of Palins most violent words and images I knew it was only a matter of time before we would have real violence.
The Sheriff of Pima County has to deal with these groups all the time. I have to deal with these nuts all the time here in Arizona. They all listen to Rush-Hannity-Beck all day long. These media guys are spewing hate all day and night. When I am in a public place (like taking the shuttle to the airport) I have to request that they turn this hate speech off. I do not want to hear it. But it is everywhere.
When Roger Ailes finally came out and said that he told people at his station to tone it down, I thought- what about Ailes calling people Nazis recently? When you add all this 'regular' hate speech coming from the radical right to the number and constant terrifying commercials there certainly was a poisonous atmosphere here in Arizona. It is an inescapable fact of daily life here. And I would hope that the whole media will change somewhat after this terrible tragedy.
The two sides- left and right- have not been equivalent in hate speech or violent actions. One has to go back to the Vietnam War days to find anything even remotely equivalent on the left. If you think this terrible atmosphere had nothing to do with a crazy guy snapping, fine. But unless you live here you could not possibly know.
Are you a nut?
Millions of "BABIES" murdered does NOT COMPARE with a few random acts of violence against Doctors!
TRUE followers of Jesus Christ DO NOT KILL!
You don't kill babies, you don't kill doctors, you don't kill anybody. You may end someone's life in self defence. Not the case here.
Pro lifers who kill are so rare as to be once a decade occurences. And the pro life community condemns such actions. Nutcases who murder are in the news every other day. Look at the gay guy in New York! Crazy.
So, both of you are a bit overboard here.
Keep your religious views to yourself, please. Will not be so polite next time.
Why cant you say doctors "murdered'? This is what I mean. The right to lifers are violent and they will stop at nothing and they can certainly be classified as a 'hate' group. You are positive proof of that.
Oh, boo hoo.
Arizona leftie nutcase feels bad. Need a tissue?
How about get a set!
There is vitriol everywhere. Not just Arizona.
You wouldn't last one second in NYC with that kind of thin skin.
I lived in NYC in the 1980s. And I remember when there were social limits about what people said. Yes, there was a social code. Anyone who broke that code created a scandal and was thrust out of the circle of polite society. they were condemned. People had some manners and upbringing and were proud of being civil.
Not any more.
Maybe that is why fraud, theft, embezzlement and other polite crimes were allowed to flourish. Nobody called them out.
It is a sad state of affairs when polite criminal behaviour is preferred to honesty and integrity.
I will tell you something else. I live in Vermont part time, too. Vermont has all the gun nuts and they do not create the kind of atmosphere I see in Arizona. I credit the liberal politics. this is the case in NY too. Liberal politics protect people from the worst abuses of capitalism.
Arizona has been a red state forever. The people here are poor with no hope and no help. That is not the case in Vermont, which has 6% unemployment (they did not let Wal Mart and the home developers ruin the state) and all the children have health care.
Arizona has the worst problems in the nation with unemployment and home foreclosures. They are pro corporations. they have wrecked their local economies by bowing before corporate power.
Vermont did not. The political climate is much better in Vermont because people are not so poor, so desperate, so used by the political machine and giant corporations.
All of this can be linked directly to unions and the "global warming" scam. Find out more on the Rush Limbaugh Program!
Isn't it amazing that it's been a few days already since this tradgedy, and the sheriff/media isn't saying anything about his mental unstability? They wanted so badly to portray this as a right wing extremist event to be blamed on Palin and the Tea Party, even running with that narrative without any facts. And now that there still aren't any facts to back this, they're not saying anything to the contrary so all the ignorant people out there will continue to believe that is the case. It's disgusting, and people think only Fox News is terrible media?
Every interview I have seen of the sheriff he states that this was an incredibly troubled young person. I am sure there are legal constraints on the diagnosis that the sheriff can make about anyone.
Troubled. that means exactly what you think it means. No one wants to blame this on the Teaparty, but they are acting so guilty that they cast aspersions upon themselves. Why scrub your web site? Why scrub your twitter account? An innocent person would not have to react in any way.
You must be talking about a different sheriff because the Pima County Sheriff was one of the first to start telling the media that this was political violence influenced by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.
"I agree with Krugman for once on the violent rhetoric. "
That said, the rest of your post is superfluous - and a waste of time.
"But unless you live here you could not possibly know."
Only the elite who live in AZ have to listen to election propaganda? Only AZ residents know what a tense, partisan cast has come to politics?
Are you an elitist, privileged to know motivations, atmospheres and equivalences of left and right? Or merely endowed with more intelligence, perception and wisdom than the rest of us?
Get over yourself, your opinions and your delusions of enlightenment. I'd rather sort through a year of election-year propaganda than have you (or anyone else) decide what I can listen to.
I am not an elitist, but your post is full of snobbery and ignorance.
All politics are local. You were not subjected to the wave of terrifying local advertising in the state of Arizona. Very little of this is my 'opinion'. any rational person who watched these television commercials would be horrified. I guess you would not be one of them.
As a teenager, little Pauly was an avid reader and was fascinated by what he saw as a reality based adventure series, Lord of the Rings. His favorite character, Gollum, became Pauly’s intellectual and spiritual role model. Even today, his behavior consistently reflects the wholesale adoption of Gollum’s value system.
Krugman still has readers? The NY Toilet Paper is still in business?
I learn something new on ZH everyday...
Stupid is not realizing that your time is past and trying to remain relevant, when you are clearly not.
Yelling the same opinions over and over again in a louder tone does not make one any smarter ... or appear any smarter.
Whether Krugman is smart or not is not the point. Even a monkey can randomly type the Gettysburg Address on a keyboard, given enough time. Maybe Krugman just needs more time.
Maxima douchebaggery.
