And Defense Secretary Gates Just Uttered The Magic Word...

Tyler Durden's picture

US Defense Secretary Gates says establishing no-fly zone for Libya would require an attack on Libya

As a result, the entire crude complex levitated higher as if HFTed by the Fed's POMO desk.

Yesterday Iran and Libya signed a 'naval agreement', and Russia has been shipping Libya some nasty new missiles for the last 2 months.

Russia wants the US in Libya.  Don't trust in what Russia says look at the money.  USA in Libya = higher oil prices.  Who is the biggest exporter of oil?  Russia.  It is why they nominally help Iran.  They want an armed Iran, why?  Because an armed Iran might be seen as a legitimate threat.  An Iran war would rocket oil prices.  And just a bennie that they get to sell weapons to Iran on the front end.  The Russian leaders are not dumb.  I don't like Putin one bit, but he is not a dumb man.

Hell look at the Russian support for US in Afghanistan.  Now why would they want the US that close?  They really don't but they are alright with the US slowly bleeding out there and are willing to tolerate the drug running into Russia that results from it.

Not sure it's about being top dog, but put yourself in Putin's shoes.  The US acts like the big schoolyard bully and if gets cut down to size less of a chance of him roughing you up.  Remember the Georgia Incident a few years back, I'm sure Putin does.

russia couldn't attack a flea and if they did their own people would sack the place.

You want a ruling elite that is super-size corrupt and pissing down their leg over muzzies.

You got em , go talk to Putin sometime see what he has to say on the matter.

There is no reason whatsoever to attack.. Just raise the price of oil to $ 150+ and watch the infighting crumble the American empire. The US was built out with, and depends on cheap oil.

Americans are gluttonous, polarized, and stupid. Match that with 220+ Million guns, some alcohol and you've got a party.

Chinese, Russians, Mexicans, et all are just going to walk right in..

A military attack on the US would be dumb, and logistically impossible. If one wanted to attack the US it would be best done in the markets and Forex pits. Undermine the dollar and the US falls to pieces. I can assure you America will not be in a war where unless it is the invader. This should be true till at least till post dollar collapse, then the crystal ball gets hazy...

Is that because of swap lines, coersion between the world's central banks, etc. or is that an organic reading?

Is this what the death of the dollar looks like?  Does the beast get one last trample through the woods before being cornered?  If so, what happens to PM prices/commodities during the escapade?

I'm inclined to think that the world is not ready to give up the ghost...  I think we get one last push into king dollar...  we get the announcement that QE 3 isn't going to happen with the same size and scope as we once thought...  successive QEs will be progressively smaller...  (a sick sort of austerity)...  and this will simply buy us more time...  but only delay the inevitable (hyperinflationary depression).

I've done enormously well on Commodities too over the last ten years.

I even took a huge risk and bought a ton during the financial meltdown and came up smelling roses.

But now, I just don't know.  My gut says something nasty is coming and if there is one thing I have learned in life, it is to trust my gut.

Mostly cash now with some physical (just in case).  Good luck.

The Saudis would fully endorse US invasion. Just like they did with Iraq. Would extend their safe zone against popular uprisings. THey have US bases on their own soil, and they want them all over the MENA if possible. Makes them look like the pinnacle of stability. Also ensures we keep stuffing money in their coffers so they keep the oil flowing and don't waiver politically.

A nofly zone would require massive initial bombardment of Libya's air and SAM assets.  It would not be as simple as declaring it and then flying sorties off the Enterprise with a couple of planes and helos from the Kearsarge.

Establishing a no-fly zone will mean taking out the sam/radar sites.  Our old friend Muammar will have predeployed his human shields.  Are you prepared to do this for Oil Obama?  (The soldiers and the PMC's will be doing this for the fallen - then and now)

No one has mentioned the one thing that would prompt Obambi to go to war.  He's been in the White House long enough now to really enjoy the perks.  If it means killing a few Africans for oil, then so be it.  He'd then be able to stage more photo ops with the troops and fly for another 4 years on AF1.

Cracks in the economic bucket are all around us, and what does idiot Robert 'is he releated to Bill' Gates say???

--- "If there is a hole in a bucket, finger fuck it!"

He's bending and lubing up his finger in anticipation right now, and I sure hope the bucket doesn't crack further. Alas we all know this is another bogus 'operation' that our military will be USED for.

Of course Nero will do this.  It beats the real alternative of a world-wide glass-steagall (of course we can only control ourselves...but other countries would not be stupid).  If he won't DO THAT, to stop things like THIS, then of course, the military will be again, misUSED.  My friends in the military have already been hit by IED's (luckily none dead).  Now maybe it's your (speaking generally) turn, or your children's turn. {well that is if they aren't getting their asses shot at in Iraq or Afghan}  But like everything else, people put their head in their sand, and are suprised at the chaotic result.  Go figure.

Glass-Steagall, or this sad situation, as mentioned everywhere else, is just the start.  In a very real sense, since we can crash this market by enacting it, our absence of doing it, does contribute to the strife of these people.  Any country involved in the ponzi can crash it or put it on life support(which makes it just about EVERYBODY'S fault).  We can do it without a doubt.  Ireland could maybe even do it.  If someone else does it, we in America, have no right to claim leadership.  You want to keep that throne my fellow Americans? Glass-Steagall or you lose any legitimacy.

Fuck Gates and his Sgt. Tackleberry attitude.  He asked for permission to act like a nut too. (Police Academy)  Smarter heads would calm him down.  But no one like that is around our decision makers.  In fact, they have people around them saying act, don't talk...talking might weaken us.

Get ready for the new reality show (just in time for NBA and NFL lockouts) Sgt. Tackleberry vs. Qadaffi Duck...sounds like a winner.

Impeach Nero before the world burns

Enact Glass-Steagall

Give the finger and laugh hysterically at anyone that wants to print or cut for fraud as the idiots they truly are.
