To the extent that we are witnessing Exter's pyramid coming to life, yes we are all currency traders.  Some of us have simplfied the process into one step by trading into the one that will survive.

The insanity is increasing at an exponential rate and so is their control efforts. We ain't seen nothing yet.

We (meaning we the people) can stop this very quickly. But we are too frightened and conditioned to realize we have the power to stop this insanity.

We the people created this mess.  Our years of over-consumption while being ignorant of what was happening in D.C. has created a generation that is ambivalent and clueless as to what is going on.  It's evidenced everytime I hear someone think they are educated because they can argue some issue Right versus Left.

Our politicians and power structure represent the ideals of the majority.  The majority of America has turned into a self-seeking culture centered around consumption and individualism.  What a surprise our politicians are the same way. We seem to have fallen asleep at the wheel and are now crying as the truck goes over the cliff.

I'd like to know how do we stop it?  What is this power you speak of?  I have yet to hear a well thought out coherent plan for any real change in the favor of ordinary people.

With the current military technology and gunpower, revolution is a pipe dream.   Not to mention most of the citizens don't have the courage or willpower to fully endure a revolution.  The one's that do, are likely already in the military.  Protesting in the streets hasn't gotten us anywhere thus far (but who knows it worked somewhat in the 60's).  We can create change with our vote, but are likely to vote in another corporate puppet who says all the catch phrases that give us a hard on like hope, change, and transparency.  As soon as they get into the broken system, they quickly fall in line with the rest of the puppets.

Something to do?

- Don't bank with bailed out banks.

- Curb your consumption so as to minimize taxes

- Change your tax withholdings if you still have a job to as high as you can to zero out your refund at the end of the year.  Better still, to not pay until April 15th.

- Turn off the TV, and go outside or read.  Stop being told how you should feel and think about how you do feel.  Plus, you aren't exposed to conditioning in either the ads or the programming.

- Vote to get both Republicans and Democrats out of office.  We need a reboot, and the empty suits on both "sides" need to get out of the way.

Wed, 06/09/2010 - 16:46 | 404364 Cognitive Dissonance

Your suggestions are exactly why I wrote my series on the collective insanity. I've been slowing (too slowly some would say) making the case to start at the ground level and make changes, beginning with yourself. There is no need for a "revolution" if we simply remove our support. Bang, it's over within days. But we must gain courage, confidence and experience. It must happen at the ground level and the rest takes care of itself.

Thx silver hammer.  I like action though I'm not sure what good will come of those ideas.  Non-bailed out banks still operate with the Fed, which is a bigger culprit than the bailouts.  A better move IMO would be for communities to create alternative currencies.  It's a huge and complex task, but if you take the power away from the dollar, you take a lot of power away from D.C. and Wall Street.  Use the alternate currency to conduct business with local business owners as much as possible.

Changing your tax withholding will alert the IRS and they will tell you what your withholdings will be (actually they'll tell your company's payroll what it will be, I've seen it happen).

Couldn't agree more about TV.  I love not having a TV and being able to critically think a lot better than my peers.  In fact this one carries immense power for changing our future.  If you get time watch Adam Curtis's "The Century of Self"  (run it through a Google Video search) to see how the television has been used to basically rape the general public of their critical thinking skills.

Vote who into office?   Who is running as more than empty suits and are they really what they say they are about?  What politicians doesn't have some corporate lobbyist coming up with campaign money to even get them in the public's eye.  The system is broken.  How much money does it cost to run for office and how much money does it take to get the exposure for people to know you are running for office.  One of the reasons Peter Schiff couldn't stay in the Senate race was due to financing and he's somewhat a big name.  And this is a guy who owns an investing firm.  You can imagine how much money Joe Blow next door would need.  The money would likely come from some firm that has strings attached.

IMO we've passed the point of no return.  The best we can do is start working in our individual communities.  The USA is likely to follow the path of the USSR.  The only question is will your state's financial health look California or Michigan when it happens.  That still rests in the hands of the local governments and communities.

Wed, 06/09/2010 - 20:29 | 404870 ToddGak
ToddGak's picture

The only hope for our political system is to get the money out of it.  Who has the cojones to take on the lobbyists and get some meaningful campaign finance reform?  I don't know.  But that's why you have celebrities and CEO's running for (and winning) office - they're the only ones who have enough money.  Look at Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorino in California - god willing they'll go down to defeat in November, but they won their primaries quite easily.  Whitman is a scary monster.

"Don't bank with bailed out banks."

Does anyone have figures on whether the "move your money" campaign is actually happening?  I've certainly heard lots of talk about it, but I can't tell the reality.  I know that it was one of the most satisfying things I ever did pulling my accounts from Bank of America and moving them to my local institutions (checking their stability first, of course).  But is this actually yet happening on a meaningful level as a percentage of the big guys assets?  An honest question.  I appreciate anyone's input on this.

BTW - with markets this bent, even many "in the know" have been humbly reduced to noobs. no shame.

FWIW, my advice - don't trust the media, and assume all governments will hide the truth at your expense to cover their arses.

any organism's first job is to survive first...

It's ok, Velo, to show your tits and 'gina on this forum, and thank you for doing so on a regular basis.  But for your own safety you should stop running your mouth. Woody Creek gets little enough traffic that some thugs could torture you and your sugar daddy for a long enough time without anyone hearing your screams that it might cause you to give up the combination no matter how heavy the damn safe is.  A safe is only a delay mechanism, and the best still only work for a short time if there is nobody around that knows the combo.  How well do you know the friends and relatives of those down-valley Mexicans you paid to move the thing in?

Maybe G O D will give you the clarity to put a sock in it, and to not drink wine while you blog.
