Some pretty off the wall, and damn original, observations from ConvergEx's Nicholas Colas.

Taking the date of the high or low (if I read that correctly) doesn't really show me much.  It might be interesting to see a larger sample, say 3 months before and 3 months after to see if there was a distinct change once the top/bottom was reached.

The first time I heard TPTB (The powers that be) - Buffy and then Angel ....

Two shows that never Jumped The Shark in a bad way (although Sad Buffy - after she got kil't by The Master - came close).

And blue demon Fred (Illyria)... if I might slip into the vernacular, she rocked that blue hair. As Barney (Stinson) would say.. What UP.

TD aside, I am sure many would be ready to groundswell against something like that.

Sure looked that way.  Or a very sophomoric sense of humor.

To the person that tried to reveal Tyler's real identity and anyone else that thinks they know (even though I'm sure they don't) here is a link to an interview with TD about why he practises annonymity:

I see that the comment was promptly deleted because it's total BS and will probably only target a completely unsuspecting individual.

Doesn't take much googling to figure out who is behind ZH... That said, I agree that it's completely irrelevant who it is. This site is unlike any other financial blog that's existed. I liken it to the Cryptome (google it) of finance and wall st. You won't find another financial site like this that provides us with free reports and notes that cost most firms and day traders a fortune. Appreciate this while it lasts, eventually TPTB will find some way to shut it down. Donate if you can, I plan on doing so soon, when my broke college ass can find some extra change for ZH.

No, they won't figure out a way to shut it down.

It's too late, now. If they used legal action, it would draw too much mainstream press attention. Hacking is infeasible. Physical retaliation would be similarly counter-productive.

Even a Lieberman kill-switch on the entire damn internet would probably not work and cause massive backlash.

So, no, the impotent pseudo-powers that be just have to learn to box with Tyler Durden - by his rules.

You have too much faith in TPTB.  They are not all powerful and all knowing, and there are plenty of ways to mask your IP address and even more ways to broadcast online content annonymously.  Here is some suggested reading:

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/welcome-insane-asylum-%E2%80%93-seeking...

I used to believe that TPTB could enact their will exactly and whenever they pleased, but I now know that is not the case.  For every rule/law that legislators/supervisors/anyone dreams up, there are always ways around them.

For some reason your comment reminded me of the movie The Terminator. Specifically where Kyle Reese is explaining how Jon Connor taught them how to defeat the machines and how he showed them that they were not that smart.

"This is burned in by laser scan. Some of us were kept alive... to work... loading bodies into dumpsters and incinerators. The disposal units ran night and day. We were that close to going out forever. But there was one man who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps, to smash those metal motherfuckers into junk. He turned it around. He brought us back from the brink. His name is Durden. Tyler Durden. Your son, Sarah, your unborn son"

You won't find the real entity behind ZH using Google, only info about certain contributors. The real entity was reveled the other day in Bruce's thread about Stuy Town which was taken down:

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/stuy-town-%E2%80%93-who-got-%E2%80%9Cst...

Too, knowledge about the parent entity can reveal overall agendas and what messages the editors want to push out to you sheeple. ZH makes it very clear that they will talk their book:
http://www.zerohedge.com/content/zero-hedge-conflictsfull-disclosure-policy

It's best to know the agenda, collage boy. Now go buy your new iPhone.

I'd bet that changes in prostitute prices, frequency, etc might be sensitive economic indicators ... and would lend itself to punning. And the government should consider legalizing prostitution and taxing it... think of the revenue and, again, the punning possibilities... "the surge charge, the leaning indicator"? And it would give the religious right another righteous gripe ... Im sure they would participate, too... if not lead the charge to legal sin. It would probably go to the supreme court and be unanimously approved ... if a major multinational were in the business. Not just joshing.

I agree with you on the prostitution issue.  In additon to that, if alcohol is legal so should marijuana if nothing else than based on the merit of how much tax revenue the government could reap.  That being said, I'm against most taxes as they only support the parasitic types (big government and their associated bureaucrats) that feed off of the productive types (business owners, working class people, etc.)  For too long we have been conditioned to believe that the government needs to "fix" all of society's ills, when in reality they only make things much worse after having spent piles of other people's (mine and yours) money (TARP, cash for clunkers, cash for appliances, lines of credit to GM and Chrysler, Ford).

While the fiction list has been increasingly dominated by female 'authors' with an avalanche of the most inane poppycock, appealing primarily to three generations of women or men who sit down to pee.

A true representation of our debauched 'culture'.

Now it all makes sense!!!  Clearly the self help books must be telling women to wear shorter skirts.  And before I thought all that stuff was bogus.

I would be interested to see an analysis based on Amazon's best-seller list, maybe a day-by-day comparison.  It seems like you'd be able to capture a lot more information that way.
