Are Body Scanners Coming to Subways, Trains, Boats and Federal Buildings?

George Washington's picture

Washington’s Blog

For those who think that the resistance to TSA groping and naked body scanning is over-the-top, take a look at this video and these quotes.

Scanning and invasive pat downs might be a necessary evil if there were no alternatives, but there are alternatives.

In fact, the alternatives would keep us safer than the peep-and-grope system we have now.

For example, trained dogs can detect many dangerous items which pat downs cannot. Or you could just blow up the terrorists (please ignore the religious smear).

Of course, it would help if we stop creating new terrorists. See this, this and this. But that would be bad for the handful of guys raking in big bucks from the protection racket.

Ron Paul is calling for an airline boycott, saying:

If we tolerate this there is something wrong with us.

But
this may not be limited to airlines and airports. Janet Napolitano,
head of the Department Homeland Security and Senator Joe Lieberman,
chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, appear to be pushing for the use of body scanners in subways, trains, boats and federal buildings.

And in July, USA Today noted:

Protecting riders on mass-transit systems from
terrorist attacks will be as high a priority as ensuring safe air
travel, the new head of the Transportation Security Administration
promises.

In his first interview since taking over the TSA, former FBI
deputy director John Pistole told USA TODAY that some terrorists
consider subway and rail cars an easier target than heavily secured
planes. "Given the list of threats on subways and rails over the last
six years going on seven years, we know that some terrorist groups see
rail and subways as being more vulnerable because there's not the type
of screening that you find in aviation," he said. "From my perspective,
that is an equally important threat area."

Indeed, as Forbes' Andy Greenberg notes, mobile backscatter x-ray scanners are already being mounted in vans and used on American streets:

The same technology, capable of seeing through clothes and walls, has also been rolling out on U.S. streets.

***

It
would also seem to make the vans mobile versions of the same scanning
technique that’s riled privacy advocates as it’s been deployed in
airports around the country.

***

“It’s no surprise that
governments and vendors are very enthusiastic about [the vans],” says
Marc Rotenberg, executive director of EPIC. “But from a privacy
perspective, it’s one of the most intrusive technologies conceivable.”

Maybe they could use these fucking machines to wall off the border.  Isn't it amazing that they'll do anything and everything to make our lives miserable, but they won't police the border?

The goal is not security.  Everyone needs to understand that.

This is just like anti-piracy measures in the game/music/movie industry. People who want to get around them, do, and they usually do that pretty easy. People who suffer (and pay premiums) are those who didn't do anything illegal. I remember a few months ago, a game studio "invented" the perfect copy protection: their game wouldn't play unless the computer was connected all the time to their servers. A few days after the launch, a cracked copy showed up on p2p and another few days later their servers crashed (traffic, hacker attacks, I don't remember); that meant that only people with cracked copies could play the game ... not to metion the Sony rootkit scandal a few years ago.

No one actually did anything (signifficant) about it and things kept going; I don't expect anything different with this also. How I wish I'm wrong!

GW, combine this with the fag-agenda and one really does have a Nazi-Chertoff cluster fuck.

I don't want some dyke groping my tits for other passengers to enjoy.

Having girls inspect girls, and boys inspect boys is a racket of epic proportions now that the world lives by no fag left behind...

Wait until TSA pictures of "headless" hot chicks with pierced clits start circulating on the internet -- which is a guarantee!

The answer will be more security, to protect me from myself.

Can anyone confirm the bullshit statistics that say over 60% of Americans want scans in the name of oppression?   Is the calculation from the BLS?

The TSA makes it abundantly clear that the terrorists have completely won.  TSA = terrorists stealing all.

FUCK THE TSA, and FUCK AN AMERICA THAT SUPPORTS IT!

Wouldn't moaning excessively for women (and/or getting a boner for men) basically get the TSA's to halt what they're doing? Is there any rule saying you have to act dignified while being searched?

You know basically do a take from the fake orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally.

MISSING POINT

Seems that this whole bag of groping tricks and scan nation has been the part of the plan.

Trillions given to the banks-no jobs created

Could have justified job creation by putting those funds to hiway infrastructure /railsystems for travel

Enter the purpose-what an easy way to herd the majority of folks into security containment facilities aka CHECKPORTS/ AIRPORTS-just a different form of national ID as they collate/photograph/fingerprint/interrogate and do cunnilingus on you in their minds.

Come to think about it by the time you go through all the BS at the checkport you could have driven over half the distance of your destination and no BS.

Just drive and enjoy the peace.

My 2 cents

The only thing that will keep the USA safe from attacks like 9/11 or any other kind of terrorist attack is a reasonable foreign policy that does not make foreigners want to bomb our country.... This scanning and groping BS just punishes the population and further decreases our liberty and diminishes our standard of living, of course, that is the price the 99% of the population pays for being forced to support the kleptocratic agenda....

Look,

I get from your name and post where you are coming from.

It is simply not so.  The US is controlled by the same dumb-ass WASPS that it was 200 years ago.  It's just that they have gotten much stupider and we all need someone else to blame.

Let's not be anti-semites here-i understand that there are a lot of Jews in high level positions in the areas where people feel fucked over the most.  But ask yourself: "could that have been a ruse set up by design by the same idiots that have ruled this country for centuries?"  I think so, not the other way around.

Wed, 11/24/2010 - 02:32 | 751721 SpeakerFTD
SpeakerFTD's picture

You guys are missing the bigger picture here.

When you see an action by a government actor that seems utterly stupid or irrational, there are three possible reasons for that action.

One, the government actor is truly that stupid, which is certainly the case some of the time, but is actually a rarity and usually limited to minor decisions.

Two, the government actor's action, while damaging and foolish for "Average Joe" America as whole, is quite profitable and thoughtful for a specific and narrow special interest who is instigating the action.  This is, of course, quite frequent today, for example, in the banking industry, as ZH has widely documented.  This action is usually accompanied by disinformation and spin to distract from the influence of the special interest, but even so, the action is usually relatively narrow in "big picture" scope.

Three, the government actor's action, while damaging and foolish for "Average Joe" America as a whole, is a strategic step in a larger "big picture" agenda of the Elite Josephs.  In this case, while the action may look stupid, it is usually quite ingenious with respect to the larger strategic agenda.   The spin and disinformation campaign here is to link the action to a completely separate "decoy" agenda, and to even encourage public ridicule of the "stupid" idea, as long as that ridicule positively reinforces the connection between the action and the "decoy" agenda.   In this case, the emotional release the public gets from railing against "those idiots in Congress" is a small price to pay for stealth promotion of the larger strategic agenda.   A good analogy is a chess game where Elite Joseph sacrifices a pawn on an early move to secure a checkmate ten moves later on a clueless Average Joe.

The increased security measures are an example of action #3,  with the decoy agenda being the protection of America from terrorism.

If you think you are being particularly insightful in pointing out the issues of Peak Oil, Peak Credit, the financial Ponzi, etc.,  realize that others within the intelligence community are light-years ahead of you and have already war-gamed the various scenarios.   While there are more positive alternatives, many of those scenarios end up with a hungry, angry, impoverished Average Joe turning on Elite Joseph.

Elite Joseph is not creating new security arrangements to protect Average Joe from the terrorists, they are creating them to protect Elite Joseph from Average Joe.   They can clearly see the rising level of anger, and as they are throughly outnumbered, they will need a robust security apparatus to maintain their advantage.   Most of the recent failed bombings and bomb threats are nothing more than psyops to coax Average Joe into the acceptance of a more robust security apparatus that will, eventually, be deployed against Average Joe himself.

As is common with action #3s, it is actually quite clever, if deviously so.

Cmon...the whole issue boils down to a CLASSIC FALSE DILEMMA.

EITHER SUBMIT TO INVASIVE SCANNING OR BLOW UP MIDAIR.

It's as SIMPLE as that, to the incredibly simple-minded.  It's ONE or the OTHER, there is no option in this binary world for other outcomes.

NEVERFUCKINGMIND that your chances of dying due to a mechanical failure or PILOT error are orders of magnitude HIGHER than via a shoe bomb or something, and also, let's all do ourselves a favor and FORGET that underwear bomber was DENIED the flight by the State Dept, oh, because he like lacked a FUCKING VISA and a PASSPORT.  But, wait, no...the intelligence community in the USA overrode State's denial and let a motherfucker who was already ratted out by his own fucking DAD get aboard!

I mean, you go ahead and try to fly to fucking Canada without your papers and see what happens.  Only KNOWN terrorists are allowed to fly without documents, it seems.

Sure, some fucking CIA agent was looking to "make his career" by seeing who this guy met up with in the US.  Oh surprise, he tried to detonate himself en route.  I hope the intelco is reading this post; you are all a bunch of stupid fucks, you hear me?  IDIOTS.

I'd be cautious about shifting the debate to "effective" alternative screenings, however.  This is taking form to mean "intelligence," which would mean intensive profiling surely supported by increased data-basing.  While DHS is probably already doing it, would you want them to be further encouraged to "profile" you?
