Arguments Regarding the Collapse of the World Trade Center Evaporate Upon Inspection
Preface: Bill Black writes today that Wall Street apologists say that calling for prosecution of Wall Street fraud is like saying the Twin Towers were brought down by controlled demolition.
Now that Bin Laden has been confirmed to be dead, it has been established that Saddam Hussein was not behind 9/11 (one of the main reasons for the Iraq war), and Iran
has been accused of having a hand in 9/11 - potentially forming the
basis for a war against Iran - it is time to revisit some important,
unanswered questions.
This essay does not argue that bombs brought down the Twin Towers or World Trade Building 7, even though many top structural engineers believe that is what happened, and people could easily have planted bombs in the trade centers without anyone noticing and without the conspiracy being discovered.
It simply addresses the frequent argument that fires caused the metal
to sag, which brought down the 3 buildings, and that the case is closed.
The Fires at the World Trade Centers Were NOT Very Hot
The
government agency in charge of the investigation of why three buildings
collapsed on 9/11 - the National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST) - says that paint tests indicated low steel temperatures -- 480 Fahrenheit -- "despite pre-collapse exposure to fire". NIST also said that microstructure tests showed no steel reached critical (half-strength) values of 600 Celsius (1112 degrees Fahrenheit) for any significant time.
Numerous top fire protection engineers have said that the fires in the World Trade Centers were not that hot. For example:
- A
mechanical engineer with 20 years experience as a Fire Protection
Engineer for the U.S. Departments of Energy, Defense, and Veterans
Affairs, who is a contributing Subject Matter Expert to the U.S.
Department of Energy Fire Protection Engineering Functional Area
Qualification Standard for Nuclear Facilities, a board member of the
Northern California - Nevada Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection
Engineers, currently serving as Fire Protection Engineer for the city of
San Jose, California, the 10th largest city in the United States
(Edward S. Munyak) says that the fires weren't big enough to bring down
Building 7:
- The
former head of NIST's Fire Science Division, who is
one of the world’s leading fire science researchers and
safety engineers, a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering
(Dr. James Quintiere), called
for an independent review of the World Trade Center
collapse investigation. "I would really like
to see someone else take a look at what they've done; both
structurally and from a fire point of view. ... I
think the official conclusion that NIST arrived at
[that fire and damage from the attacks brought down the buildings] is
questionable.
In addition, Thomas Eager, a
Professor of Materials Engineering and Engineering Systems at MIT and a
defender of the official story, concluded
that the temperatures in the Twin Towers never exceeded 800 Celsius
(1472 degrees Fahrenheit). Eager pointed out that, contrary to popular
belief, jet fuel from the planes did not increase the temperature of the fires.
Structural engineer Antonio Artha notes:
Fire and impact were insignificant in all three buildings.
Structural engineer Graham John Inman points out:
The fire on this building [World Trade Building 7] was small & localized therefore what is the cause?
Thermal
images also suggest that the temperature of the steel in the north
tower at the time of the fire was not much more than 250 degrees Fahrenheit (and see this).
The Argument Evaporates Upon Inspection
Defenders
of the "official" version of 9/11 say, in rebuttal, that the fires
didn't have to be that hot, because - while not hot enough to melt steel - they were hot enough to cause the metal to sag.
It
is irrelevant (and beyond the scope of this post) whether or not their
argument is correct. Specifically, since even defenders of official
story admit that the fires were not hot enough to melt steel, then it is
impossible to explain the huge quantify of molten steel which was
observed under Ground Zero for months after the attacks (see next
section, below).
Indeed, not only was structural steel somehow melted on 9/11, but it was EVAPORATED. Specifically, as the New York Times reports, an expert stated about World Trade Center building 7:
A
combination of an uncontrolled fire and the structural damage might
have been able to bring the building down, some engineers said. But
that would not explain steel members in the debris pile that appear to
have been PARTLY EVAPORATED in extraordinarily high temperatures.

Note that evaporation means conversion from a liquid to a gas; so the steel beams in building 7 were subjected to temperatures high enough to melt and evaporate them.
It is simply impossible that fires from jet fuels and office materials could do that.
Molten Metal Under Ground Zero for MONTHS After Attacks
There was molten metal under ground zero for months after 9/11:
- The structural engineer responsible for the design of the WTC, described fires still burning and molten steel still running 21 days after the attacks (page 3)
- A structural engineer who worked for the Trade Center's original designer saw "streams of molten metal that leaked from the hot cores and flowed down broken walls inside the foundation hole." (pages 31-32)
- An engineer stated in the September 3, 2002 issue of The Structural Engineer, "They showed us many fascinating slides ranging from molten metal, which was still red hot weeks after the event."
- New York firefighters recalled in a documentary film, "heat so intense they encountered rivers of molten steel."
- A NY firefighter described molten steel flowing at ground zero, and said it was like a "foundry" or like "lava".
- A public health advisor who arrived at Ground Zero on September 12, said that "feeling the heat" and "seeing the molten steel" there reminded him of a volcano.
- An employee of New Jersey's Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue witnessed "Fires burn[ing and molten steel flow[ing] in the pile of ruins still settling beneath her feet."
- The head of a team of scientists studying the potential health effects of 9/11, reported, "Fires are still actively burning and the smoke is very intense. In some pockets now being uncovered, they are finding molten steel."
- According to a worker involved with the organizing of demolition, excavation and debris removal operations at ground zero, "Underground it was still so hot that molten metal dripped down the sides of the wall from Building 6."
- A reporter with rare access to the debris at ground zero "descended deep below street level to areas where underground fires still burned and steel flowed in molten streams."
- According to a member of New York Air National Guard's 109th Air Wing, who was at Ground Zero from September 22 to October 6, "One
fireman told us that there was still molten steel at the heart of the
towers' remains. Firemen sprayed water to cool the debris down but
the heat remained intense enough at the surface to melt their boots."
- A retired professor of physics and atmospheric science said "in
mid-October when they would pull out a steel beam, the lower part
would be glowing dull red, which indicates a temperature on the order
of 500 to 600 °C. And we know that people were turning over pieces of
concrete in December that would flash into fire--which requires about
300 °C. So the surface of the pile cooled rather rapidly, but the bulk
of the pile stayed hot all the way to December."
- A fireman stated that there were "oven" like conditions at the trade centers six weeks after 9/11.
- Firemen and hazardous materials experts also stated that, six weeks after 9/11, "There
are pieces of steel being pulled out [from as far as six stories
underground] that are still cherry red" and "the blaze is so 'far beyond
a normal fire' that it is nearly impossible to draw conclusions about
it based on other fires." (pay-per-view)
- A NY Department of Sanitation spokeswoman said "for
about two and a half months after the attacks, in addition to its
regular duties, NYDS played a major role in debris removal - everything
from molten steel beams to human remains...."
- New York mayor Rudy Giuliani said "They were standing on top of a cauldron. They were standing on top of fires 2,000 degrees that raged for a hundred days."
- As late as five months after the attacks, in February 2002, firefighter Joe O'Toole saw a steel beam being lifted from deep underground at Ground Zero, which, he says, "was dripping from the molten steel."
- A rescue worker "crawled through an opening and down crumpled stairwells to the subway five levels below ground. He remembers seeing in the darkness a distant, pinkish glow–molten metal dripping from a beam"

The
fact that there was molten steel under ground zero for months after
9/11 is very odd, especially since firefighters sprayed millions of
gallons of water on the fires and applied high-tech fire retardants.
Specifically, 4 million gallons of water were dropped on Ground Zero within the first 10 days after September 11, according to the U.S. Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories:

spraying continued for months afterward (the 10 day period was simply
the timeframe in which the DOE was sampling). Enormous amounts of
water were hosed on Ground Zero continuously, day and night:

Moreover, the fires were sprayed with thousands of gallons of high tech fire-retardants.
It was not the collapses which caused steel to melt. Specifically, a professor emeritus of physics has proven that the collapses themselves could not have melted steel. And Brent Blanchard - a recognized expert in controlled demolition - stated in a telephone interview with physicist Steven Jonesv that he has witnessed hundreds of controlled demolitions, but has never seen molten metal at any of the demolition sites.
So how does NIST explain the molten metal? It denies its existence:

Twenty-Five Rules of DisinformationI endlessly hear about how the Twin Tower fires became very hot and weakened the steel. I could give a shit. The question is how hot the steel became, not how hot the fires became. You can have an intense 1,500 F fire that lasts for 30 minutes, not long enough to heat the steel in the immediate vicinity to a high enough temperature to weaken the steel. Steel has a remarkable ability to wick away heat very quickly and efficiently.
Stick one end of a 10 foot one inch metal bar in a roaring fire for 10 minutes, then grab the other end without gloves. The WTC towers were a massive inner and outer grid of steel. Since the fires burned no longer than 90 minutes in one building and around 65 minutes in the other tower, and those fires moved around the floors, not engulfing all the floors all that time, the argument that the fires weakened the steel to the point of collapse is silly. In fact the fires were self extinguishing near the end. Look at the black smoke pouring from the towers. Hot fires don't produce black smoke once all the consumables are burned, something NIST agreed had happened within 45 minutes.
And what about all that steel below the affected floors. Even NIST disproved the so called pile driver theory, that the top floors fell as one and drove their way into the lower floors, destroying everything in their way. This theory is simply ridiculous when given some thought. First the upper floors were made with lighter steel since they needed to carry less weight. Second the lower floors were made with progressively heavier steel the lower you went. So are we to believe the top floors held their integrity while destroying all below, then magically disintegrated when then reached the very bottom? Time for some intellectual and emotional honesty.
I could go on and on. But one thing that is rarely if ever mentioned are these simple facts. Every real world test done by NIST disproved their own theories. When they loaded up several sample floor truss with 200% live load (a live load is any movable or semi permenant weight such as desks, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, dividers, inner partitions etc) meaning twice what the floors were ever designed to handle and three times what was actually in the towers that day, and then subjected the trusses to 2 hours of well over 1,000F heat from an actual kerosene fueled fire (that's what jet fuel is folks, kerosene) twice what they said was actually experienced in the towers, the truss only sagged 5 inches. When they tested the blasting away of fire insulation around the steel in a laboratory as they proposed the airplane impacts did, they failed miserably to show it had happened.
So what NIST had to do in order to "prove" their theory was to create a computer software 'black box' model and then tweak all the inputs to produce the desired effect. For example, remember that test truss that only sagged 5 inches? They had the computer model sag the trusses over 45 inches. They assumed any steel columns damaged in any way, even dented or twisted but still structurally sound and in place to be totally removed. Totally removed. This applied to both the core and the outer frame. The summary assumed temperatures much higher than it's own report said were realistic. They assumed all the fire insulation was completely missing on all floors. And on and on and on and on.
Only after they kept on weakening the computer model did it begin to fail. Then they stopped the model and turned the computer off. You know why? Because no matter what they did, they could never do enough tweaking to the model that would destroy the entire building all the way to the ground. Their distorted model ran right up the the point when they were able to start a collapse and no more. Your tax doors at work. To this day they will not release the computer model nor all the parameters used to produce their proof. I can prove anything if I don't need to tell you how.
I have read the entire 10,000 page NIST report on the Twin towers. Half is devoted to emergency procedures and response, building codes and so on. The other half is devoted to the actual buildings themselves. What I found amazing is that most people only read the executive summary. If you actually read the chapters of the report you will think you are reading a different report. The summary often contradicts it's own report. It pulls facts, figures and conclusions out of thin air. Even if you are not a structural engineer, as I am not, if you were to take the time to read the actual chapters referred to in the summary rather than just the summary you would think you were living in Alice's Wonderland because they aren't talking about the same thing.
WT 7 has even more serious and egregious errors. We are being lied to folks. But of course you know that.........right?

The NIST WTC7 video at least shows a rendering of what their black box computer model spit out. There model doesn't even look like what we all saw.

I haven't read the whole report and I don't think many have, but what I have read didn't reinforce their analysis. Even FEMA's reports contradict NIST's reports.
Obviously Osama wired the three buildings for a controlled demolition. He ran a sophisticated operation. Look at the video from his recent assasination -did you see that state of the art high definition TV he was viewing. Impressive how he deactivated the movie cameras all the seals had on their helmets. Probably had ray guns or scalar weapons from the wall ready to vaporize the seals. No wonder they took him out even though it appeared he was unarmed and not resisting. He needed to be offed real quick before he could reach under the table and push the button that detonated nukes hidden under European and American cities. Disposing his body at sea was also the prudent thing to do. He may have had a mini nuke buried up his ass, or a sophisticated tracking device that could have have activated and redirected cruise missiles to the ship where his body was being held. You never know. They were smart not to take any chances. I still wish we could have taken him alive - It would be good to have tortured him awhile to find out who his spies were on the Hill or in the pentagon who helped him deactivate the entire Norad missile defense system. He could have had some inside help -maybe Ron paul or one of those other anti-American sissies who are tying their best to make America defenseless to the millions of terrorists running around our streets, and hanging out at local Walmarts spying on us.

Of all the discredited conspiracy theories, the one most disproven is the official one. No one who takes the time to evaluate the data and think about it would believe the official story which is internally inconsistent and does not even address all the facts.

Boy, they had me hook, line and sinker to the point I damn near quit my lawyer career and joined the Army so I could get my revenge on Afghanistan and Iraq. Went through a very painful time in my life trying to come to grips with 9/11, almost clinically depressed. I could not allow my heart to believe what my eyes already knew. But like you said above, if my eyelids could be peeled back to see the ugly truth, there is hope for many more sheeple out there, and I will keep trying to expose this treason.

It's sad that abused and victimized folks can not look reality in the eye but it's pretty common. I see this in the criminal justice system every day. It happens the most with rape or incest within the family, not that different from 911 if you think about it. The disinformation theories put out by the government have been discredited thoroughly. How did the hijackers' passports survive the crash to be found by the FBI the following day at ground zero? How did building 7 collapse so perfectly? How were all of the hijackers able to get visas despite being known extremists by the intelligence communities around the world?
Yeah, they found the passports... but couldn't find the flight recorders... the first time in history the flight recorders have not been recovered... 'cause the flight recorders would have proven that, at the very least, the 'pentagon plane hit' was complete bull.

The recorders were found and carted off by the FBI.
Which brings up another lie by the government. The FBI claimed for years that the flight recorders were never found. They even testified to the 9-11 commission that the flight recorders were never found. The official NTSB records state that the voice recorders were destroyed by the fire. The black boxes are designed to survive heat up to 1800 degrees. Yet the FBI was able to recover two of the hijackers passports intact.
At least 90% of the 9-11 conspiracies are government disinformation. They throw out wacky theories in order to make the general public think that anyone who doesn't believe the government lie must be a nutjob.

I have a BS in chemistry, but I am hard pressed to come up with a scenario which can account for these underground molten pools of steel many weeks afterwards. Prof Steve Jones did an analysis of the dust and found unreacted nanothermite particles it. At the time (and probably still currently) nanothermite was restricted to the military. I am not familiar with its exact characteristics other than the exothermic characteristics of regular thermite would be released in a fraction of a second. But molten steel weeks afterwards means either a continuing reaction or somehow the initially melted steel was incredibly well insulated. But the eye witness descriptions argue against the insulation idea as these witnesses were often in the same cavern as the molten steel. Has to be some delayed, ongoing reaction. Any ideas from the physical science guys here?
