Armed Forces Securing Suez Canal As Egyptian Navy Escorts Transiting Ships

Tyler Durden's picture

While the confusion rages over whether Mubarak [will|will not] step down, after Reuters just reported that according to Egypt's information minister Mubarak is not stepping down, suddenly concern about the Suez Canal has flared up again. Luckily, the Egypt armed forces have now secured it, so all is well.

From Reuters:

There have been no changes in Suez Canal traffic operations so far, canal officials said on Thursday, speaking amid reports that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak may step down.

One official said the Egyptian navy was escorting ships through the canal and that armed forces were securing the waterway

In the meantime, if the euphoria from Mubarak's departure ends up being a dud, an there are no changes at the top today, there will be 3 million very angry (and still quite hungry) protesters...

Another Pawn is moved in the Great Chess Game.

Block: Who are you?
Death: I am Death.
Block: You have come for me?
Death: I have been for a long time at your side.
Block: I know.
Death: Are you prepared?
Block: My body is afraid, but I am not.
[Death approaches Block.]
Block: Wait a moment.
Death: You all say that. But I give no respite.
Block: You play chess, do you not? … As long as I resist you, I live. If I win, you set me free.

Time for an orchestrated "black swan" event. The USA is in dire need of a military pretext.

Government Panel Predicts WMD Attack by 2013

According to the Commission on the Prevention of Weapons of Mass Destruction Proliferation and Terrorism, the likelihood is high that by 2013 terrorists will use WMDs in an attack somewhere in the world, and while several nations with terrorist ties are now in a race to produce nuclear weapons, the commission’s report says that an attack using biological weapons is the more likely scenario, with potentially devastating consequences.

Renew that Patriot Act, or else!!!

Too bad for the Egyptians.

They were busy rioting, believign in some in-tangible change while it allowed a full security aparatus to spring into place. Classic head-fake by the establishment.

Easy with the labels Down. I used the word loosely. I should have said protesting.

Same effect though.

no doubt this will be spun as good news for the market and cause a 50-100 point pop in the DOW giving it it's 9th day in a row of uninterrupted upward glory.

there is no bad news...only more reasons to buy NFLX.

The ongoing strikes in Suez - a couple thousand strong now - include the toll-collectors at the canal.

I wonder how much longuer it will take before the Egyptians realize what kind of leverage a occupation of the Suez canal would give them.

I would do it.

If the Muslim brotherhood and al qaeda can't block one stinking canal what good are they??

mubarak just picked up the phone to china, seems they like him alot..china will trade cash for the canal in a hot mid east minute.

Well, so far the cowardly Muslim Brotherhood hasn't been able to find Tahrir Square.    The little bitches have decided to sit out the Revolution.  So I wouldn't hold your breath on the Canal.

I wonder if the Egyptian Navy escort is more expensive than a comparable NYC (lower Manhattan area) escort?

Yeah, some obsolete Perry and Knox class frigates, purchased from the USA. The Egyptian boats probably lack the most recent electronic warfare countermeasure systems, or even CIWS for that matter. A single strike from most any common antiship missile would cut these boats in half.

So, when are we going to start seeing some real pandemonium.

What libtards went to Egypt and taught the protesters how to sing kumbaya.

This is all just so engineered by the polished turds that be.

News has it that the Lithuanians are going to create a holiday camp full of blond young teutonic 'bunnies' for the rich arabs in Egypt. It will be funded by the rich Germans and will bring in as much money as a casino in Macao. The current negotiations in the Cairo palace are all about what share the Mubarak family gets in the rake in before they hand over the keys of the country to the army. It's supposed to be a win-win situation between EU and Arab world.

As you all know Angela Merkel has just bought the US stock exchange. Mubarak should go retire in Germany. The CIA and the State Dept. are not amused. Also explains why king Abdullah was recently seen walking on water towards the new resort in Charm el Sheikh.

Berlusconi of Italy will not be far behind as temporary immigrant to Charm el Sheikh, the judges are breathing down his neck in the 'Ruby' call girl scandal. Given his roaring apetite it will make this venture the new Las Vegas of Egyptian economic revival. It should send the EU/USD rate soaring. Gold to plunge to abyssal lows. Who needs dirty oil when you have blond valkyrie boob tube. Facebook should add a new chapter to its international operations. GS is considering a local launching on the Cairo exchange. Lloyd Blankfein is heading there for next summer holiday. Ben Bernanke to join after having outsourced QE3 to  HFT operators worldwide.
