Attempt To Blow Up Heart Of Times Square Fails After Home Made Car Bomb Fizzles
Last night just after 6 pm a home made car bomb, containing 3 propane tanks and 2 containers of gasoline, electrical wires, black powder and some sort of timing device, put in a green VIN-less Nissan Pathfinder, situated on the corner of 45th and Broadway, was prevented from killing numerous people in the heart of Times Square, on 45th and Broadway. According to a hotdog vendor eye witness account, quoted by CNN, the car had filled with smoke and actually exploded, however the explosion was subdued. At that point a bomb squad appeared and managed to diffuse the bomb. The car bore license plates registered to a Connecticut-based Ford F-150. Mayor Bloomberg rushed back to New York from Washington and was quoted as saying: "We are very lucky that we avoided what could have been a
very deadly event. We have no idea who did this or why.” It is unclear whether the organizers of the terrorist attempt were foreign-based or domestic. Looks like Goldman Sachs and a bankrupt Greece are finally going to be dropped from the front page, for at least a few hours. And, as always, nothing like a "failed terror attempt" as a cohesive force to consolidate an increasingly polarized population.

Authorities searched the immediate area for any possible secondary devices, but no other areas were evacuated. Also an NYPD and federal manhunt for the suspect began.
"It looked like something digital. It went off, it just didn’t go off like it was intended to," a law-enforcement source told The Post.
Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who were in Washington last night for the White House Correspondents Dinner, immediately rushed back to the city. President Obama was alerted and was monitoring the situation.
"The president commended the quick action by the NYPD and...the federal government is prepared to provide support," Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro said in a statement.
Witnesses said they saw a man running from the SUV but cops couldn’t confirm that last night. The vehicle was parked at such an angle that investigators believed the driver had pulled over in a hurry.
The improvised explosive device certainly could have claimed many lives if it hadn’t failed, sources said.
"It definitely was going to be a substantial fire and explosion," a source said.
"Anybody in the immediate area could have been killed."
Witnesses described the chaotic scene seconds after smoke started coming from the vehicle.

I've wondered when we'd see this in the US since it is so common in other countries. I have a hard time believing as many of these bombers are as incompetent as they are presented in the news. Do none have the smarts to test their designs? Some I suspect have to be false flag theatre to manipulate us into accepting restrictions on something - perhaps no motor vehicles in Times Square? Better ban pedestrians too - they can carry bombs as well.

It's funny but history as it is taught to children appears to be a collection of random events. Unfortunately there is little critical thinking going on since there are motivations behind every war and assassination. It is also important to understand true power stripped of any public relations efforts. Most individuals feel they would do a better job ruling the world than anyone else, and with the opportunity many corrupt individuals would jump at the chance at any price - that's why balance and distributed power is so important. One should always ask the 5 W's regarding any event, especially "why".
Some might not know the allegory of the cave, here are a few elements:

Terrorism is terrible. Those who would perpetrate such acts against innocents deserve the very harshest treatment under the law.
But intellectually, I'm forced to ask this question: "Why Times Square"?
Symbolically, it doesn't even resonate with New Yorkers. (We avoid the place like the plague). A strategically less important place in New York is hard to find. What's there? Theaters? Hotels? Camera stores? MTV's offices? Lots of really, really awful restaurants?
New York has no shortage of banks, consulates, municipal buildings, and offices of major multinationals which make much more leveraged targets. Sure, Times Square has a symbolic association with NYC itself -- but a bombing in Times Square would barely register as a blip on our economy, and probably not much more on the daily lives of New Yorkers.
Whoever was planning this attack, I think it's safe to say that they are angry, uneducated hicks who clearly didn't understand the fundamentals of targeting sites with strategic or economic importance. Recent imigrants who attend a mosque in Jersey? Maybe something like that. But certainly someone (or someones) for whom Times Square seems like a bigger deal than it actually is.
The only problem I see with it, is that it was done in Times Square where the majority of the public hangs out. If they want to blow something up, it should be WALL ST. and the likes of Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, and the rest of the den of thieves who have stolen trillions of our money. I don't think one U.S. citizen would be upset with it. People in this country need to make a stand. Not saying go on a blow up everything anywhere stretch, but pick and choose the real targets who have targeted the taxpayers of this country and get those crooks. Hopefully, the DOJ will do it's job before it comes to that and take down these criminal bankers one by one.

Times Sqaure is a major tourism epicenter now. It is jam packed with Europeans and travelling Americans and if you wanted to disrupt NYC commerce this is how you would do this. Tourists cancel vacation plans and voila. Certainly looks domestic to me.

Umm, pretty sure they recovered bodies or body parts (down to bone fragments) from passengers of all four planes. They haven't found body parts of EVERYONE on board, but they have certainly found some of them. They found everyone from Pennsylvania and the Pentagon, I beleive. It's just that a lot of the bodies from the twin towers were vaporized during the collapse.

It seems like there have been a rash of these half-assed almost terrorist type attacks lately. Didn't some guy "almost maybe" blow up a plane late last week that had to get diverted to Bangor, Maine?

Your concept is not inconceivable in the least. Once an in depth study of false flag attacks has been conducted, deliberate sabotage is well within operating parameters.
What I find hard to believe is that a newly penetrated, and thus fully pressurized oil/gas field of easily 1000-2000 PSI, would only be leaking 5000 barrels a day if it were completely uncontrolled. I suspect the BOP (blowout protector) did work to some extent if it's only leaking as much as advertised. If it didn't work, I suspect those leak rate "estimates" will be raised in the next few days or weeks.

Saturday, the group updated its analysis to estimate that the slick contained more than 11.1 million gallons of oil, which would make it the largest oil spill in American history. John Amos, the group's president, also revised the estimate of the rate of oil leaking to 25,000 barrels a day, saying it was a "rock bottom" figure. There are 42 gallons in a barrel of oil.

This is a huge oil field they have tapped, with 5,000 feet of water, and approx. 18,000 to 30,000 feet of sand and rock overburden, (no one seems to know exactly the actual depth of bore hole, some say as much as 35,000 feet), the overburden pressure is enormous, with pressures approaching 35,000 to 40,000 psi, ...go ahead, try and cap that.
It was reported a couple of days ago, that the wellhead may or will be lost, due to the immense flow and pressure, literally sand blasting the wellhead and casing away, being that sand is carried out with the oil, at which time it will become an unchecked gusher.
Furthermore, the Gulf of Mexico has been experiencing "sea floor subsidence", due to oil extraction over the last few decades, causing pressure points in areas that have not been tapped.
