AUDJPY Rolls Over, Standing Wave From Combined Southampton Blackberry Vibration Felt In Iceland
Ignore stocks, the only thing to follow today is the AUDJPY chart, which stocks will have no choice but to follow momentarily. After experiencing a massive, near 400 pip short covering orgy, the critical carry trade is once again rolling over. With numerous attempts to defend 77 failing, the pair is now starting to look like a mirror image of yesterday's action. Another solid attempt at retaking 77 will likely follow, and in case of failure, the wheels off of today's non-existent stock market may just fall out, and totally ruin the weekend for all those already partying it up on Long Island's southern shore.

Yeah, this one's going to be a good indicator of things to come. Made my quickest profit in history buying FXA at 82 a few days ago. Looks like it's almost time to take a quick 4% gain.
OK, since I happen to be in Southampton (visiting friends) I LMAO.
Can someone remind me: this is the "other" day so the market goes down 3-4%, right? I want to keep in sync.
Bloomberg comes up with some whacky headlines but I dare them to top this. Nice shoutout to the guys who *really* make the world go round.
I'm not a currency guy, so I have to ask: What is the importance of the AUDJPY issue mentioned above?
the best 'risk on' or 'risk off' indicator
Damn you wage freedom for making me look even more of an idiot :\, could've waited a minute or two.
+1?
I also don't get it. I feel dumb. :/
(Might have something to do with not being able to calculate 13 x 18 off th top of my head for the CAPTCHA)
You don't have to be a genius to do mental calculations...

VERTICALLY AND CROSSWISE
1 3
1 8
1 \ ^1 1 \ ^2 4
2 \ 3 \ 4
234
An elegant way of multiplying numbers using a simple pattern.
This is normally called long multiplication but
actually the answer can be written straight down
using the VERTICALLY AND CROSSWISE
formula.
We first put, or imagine, 23 below 21:
There are 3 steps:
a) Multiply vertically on the left: 2 x 2 = 4.
This gives the first figure of the answer.
b) Multiply crosswise and add: 2 x 3 + 1 x 2 = 8
This gives the middle figure.
c) Multiply vertically on the right: 1 x 3 = 3
This gives the last figure of the answer.
.
people feeling risky > they use jpy to buy aud, causing it to go up and v.v.
On an analytic level, it's just like watching the price of gold. They're both indicators of a move from one currency into another, the former being seen as going bad and the latter getting good.
The carry trade into gold, of course, being the most important to watch.
falling AUDJPY indicates flight to 'safety', falling equities, strong USD and stronger yen, etc.
See any (big) down day in the last 14 months...
Cheers.
Good catch Tyler...
All I can say is you've got big ones if you're long going into this weekend especially as US (only) markets are closed on Monday.
Well, either that (and let's not kid ourselves they all think they have big, umm huge ones) or they have their finger on the plug of the HAL 9000 running the market.
LOL. If the Hampton's crowd knew you called it LI's south shore, they'd blanche.
blanch
Please dont send vibrations to Iceland, its not a good idea. They have enough already.
Little Aussie battle'ah , risk on risk off
I was in the Hamptons last weekend visiting a cousin (Who acutually works for a living) and I can tell you that they are partying like it is 2006 out there and the shops are busier than ever however once you reach the real world in the towns leading upto the fork it is a deadzone.
Trickle down bitches.
Yes and no,went out to dinner mid-week,the place was packed! I think people are staying local, which is a good thing. There's more to the south shore than the Hampton's, Bitchez
Pardon me,
For those not in the know, what is the significance of the JPY strength?
**edit just saw the response above please ignore this
has the oil made it to Moriches yet?
Bernanke to Umpa Lumpas......Man the pump machines!!! Stat!!! Fuck Willy Wonka and his Golden Ticket!!!
Is this correct?
In carry trade,
Carry trade off.
Is that right? I always get confused in currency translations
You got it sorted...
My new pocket guide
Oy ... sters Rockefeller with bacon bits batmen!

I thought the MSM's relieved and enthusiastic characterization of yesterday's market action as "a bullish sign" amid all the good news that China is completely cool with its Eurozone exposure, consumer confidence up, job claims down ever so slightly, etc. signalling all was well was a bit premature.
Today is suppose to be quiet post noon, with some volumeless upward drift to end the week and month as the HFT algo AIs bat the ball back and forth forth listlessly waiting for their masters to return from a party weekend. Right? Isn't that on page 17 of the Recovery Playbook? Wait. . . What's this AUDJPY footnote here?
With the market volatility as high as it has been, being anything other than a day-trader closing out all your positions at the end of the day (let-alone before a 3-day weekend) is idiotic. Oh wait, we are talking about folks that "invest" OTHER PEOPLES MONEY -- never mind!
Hey be careful, this will actually make the weekend for some of us who are from the south shore of the island.
Interesting EURO chart :
