FLETCH's picture

up here in the NE, there's a program to save 10-20cents on gas at shell by buying groceries at Stop and Shop

drove by yesterday.... cars lined up 10 deep

but food and energy prices don't matter to the Bernank

what a clusterf&*k

jimcg's picture

Idiot serfs.....they pay twice more at that midnight ripoff than if they bought gas in midtown Manhattan.

camaro68ss's picture

YES! I can now take that road trip across country i was planning on doing this summer!

unwashedmass's picture

the peasants are between a rock and a hard place here....

Bernanke wants to devalue the dollar, so gas is going up....and when he is forced to take his foot off the pedal for a few days....

you got the oil companies reluctant to lower prices, cause man, they got a good thing goin!!! four days of nice sweet profits before Bennie cranks his presses......

no one gives a shit the peasants are dying.

i-dog's picture

"no one gives a shit the peasants are dying"

That's actually their plan.

baby_BLYTHE's picture

It's called Benocide.

He doesn't give a sh*t about J6P.

Inflation is still too low for his liking which means more death and suffering worldwide. Perhaps even the collapse of another democratic government.

The SE version is a little better. I regularly save .40 to .50 per gal. my personal max. was .65 x 20 gals.

Numerous credit cards offer 5% cash back on gas purchases + getting at sams or kroger or some of the likes are often discounted $.10+ from standard prices around here anyway (and we're about $3.70 atm on avg.)

But, the neat part, if you drive out of your way to get the discount, you negate the discount unless you get an ungodly mpg around town...  (many people seem to lose this concept).

Clay Hill's picture

Macho, I did forget to qualify that I only get that once a month.

I ditched the plastic last year, and have had a club membership for 8 years. Most of my savings on food come from the big monthly buy. Having an extra freezer, vacuum sealer, and canning what comes from my postage stamp sized garden doesn't hurt either.

Saving $20 per month on gas is just icing on the cake.

MachoMan's picture

Yep.  All necessary actions to ride out the stagflationary environment.  (and probably all things people should do anyway).

TheTmfreak's picture

The price can only go up from these all time lows.

Mentaliusanything's picture

Forced to buy the dip.

Walking (Fat)Bitches

TheTmfreak's picture

I wonder what I'm going to do with all that money I'm now "saving"...

Sudden Debt's picture

I depends, but on average you should be able to buy a bag of dorito's with the gains of 2 fill up's.

TheTmfreak's picture

If I am to believe I can save about 2 dollars for a fill up that means I can buy about 1/20th an ounce of silver. At least that 2 dollars would be well "spent" (saved).

Sudden Debt's picture

AND IF YOU SAFE THOSE 2$ AND DO SO FOR THE NEXT 24999 OTHER FILL UP'S YOU COULD BUY A ELECTRIC CAR WITH YOUR SAVINGS!!!!

so if you filled her up every day of the year.... IT WOULD ONLY TAKE YOU LIKE 68 YEARS TO BUY ONE!

that's inflation NON adjusted of course...

TheTmfreak's picture

I'd rather take 1/20th pieces of silver than some coal guzzling overly complicated piece of shit.

Sudden Debt's picture

Most new electric cars have about 1 pound of Silver in their Silver-Zinc batteries you know.

TheTmfreak's picture

Oh riiiiight. I guess I could always use that money to buy SLV........

Oh I kid, I kid.

surfer433's picture

I, errr... You have a dream

Temporalist's picture

Yea the smallest bag of Doritos that barely gets enough magic flavor dust on your fingertips to be satisfying.

RobotTrader's picture

Here come more margin hikes.  Another blizzard of paper to push down inflation.

Sudden Debt's picture

in the good old days (Pré 2007) it only took bullets and a all out war to supress the oil price...

Dr. No's picture

In defence of Prez Obama, he is trying his best.  I mean invading Libya, Pakistan, and now trying to get a cold war with China.  Who would have thought is was so hard?

4 More Years Bitchezz !!!

Sudden Debt's picture

AND THAN HE CAN BE SUCCEEDED BY ANOTHER OBAMA FAMILY MEMBER!! (who will also have a Hawaii birth certificate of course...)

magpie's picture

Hawaii's rich history of Monarchy hm...

Drag Racer's picture

doubt it, more like the increase in the dollar due to the euro sell from spooked investors

bob_dabolina's picture

Phew,

Saved a whopping $2 filling up.

Sudden Debt's picture

Reasons enough why Obama should create some sort of extra car tax. ROOM TO MANEUVRE!

DY YOU EVIL SPECULATORS!

WEALTH EFFECT FOR EVERYBODY!!!

detersbb's picture

Oil down $10.00 per barrel.

Gas down less than $0.01.

We have a free market for surety.

Sudden Debt's picture

You've got to understand the oil business.

They've got the paperwork, the congres bribes and many many many other overhead costs to cover.

That 0.01$ IS COMMING STRAIGHT FROM THEIR POCKETS!! YOU SHOULD BE GREATFULL!!

TheTmfreak's picture

Now if only we could tax them more that would bring down the prices of gasoline further... Right?

Right.

Sudden Debt's picture

YES! LET'S THE CONSUMER PAY FOR.... polution? YES GLOBAL WARMING!!!

SAVE THE PINGUINS!!

50% OIL TAX TO SAVE THE PINGUINS!!

LET THE POLUTERS PAY UP!

and than they can show live footage of their efforts trying to save them as proof... I will most certainly cost about 2 trillion just to study them and another 5 trillion to try to save them.

unununium's picture

Kudos to you SD, for managing to yell constantly and not be annoying, but insightful and hilarious.

iinthesky's picture

Hey leave them Pinguins alone! Those poor bastards can't swim in all that climate change.

NOTW777's picture

i think these numbers are bs.  i see the same prices or higher

Sudden Debt's picture

problem is that the new computer software from the gas stations can't handle price decreases!

IT'S LIKE A Y2K BUG BUT IN 2011!!

But they've got their smartest people working on that computer bug. As we speak they are on the phone with India!

jtmo3's picture

For now. Wholesale gas has almost regained all it dropped last week. Right now it's sitting at 3.34. Good luck with the price dropping much if at all.

Misean's picture

The chaos in the food and energy complex should go well...

Almost 30 cents worth of backwardation in the Sept contract for RBOB.  Front month is up 6 cents today.
