Barney Frank On Bernanke: It's Raining Dollars
One wonders if Goldman Sachs will use this statement as a way to upgrade either GE or the S&P500 to a 1,100+ target
Frank Statement on Chairman Bernanke
Washington, D.C. – House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank today made the following statement on President Obama’s nomination of Ben Bernanke to serve a second term as Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman:
“I strongly support President Obama’s nomination of Ben Bernanke to a second term as Chairman of the Federal Reserve. On the whole, Chairman Bernanke’s response to the unprecedented economic crisis has been wise and appropriate. He has acted to provide needed liquidity to the economy and has demonstrated that he is fully ready to reverse course when economic conditions dictate. President Obama’s decision to reappoint him now is one more example of his providing leadership the country, and the world, needs as well as addressing the economic situation he inherited. By nominating Chairman Bernanke he is giving an example of the right kind of bipartisanship.”

Someone rip BF's throat out... his voice is so annoying!!!
Pissed at Tyler because for the rest of the day i will have the song it's raining men in my head. But excellent choice for a piece on barney frank.
I can't even read the whole comment without laughing out loud. I just keep seeing the Saturday night live take on this statement.
What exactly are the requirements for becoming a public representative? Shouldn't talking *exactly* like Elmer Fudd rule someone out?
Uncle Blarney makes me want to cry.
And not in the good 'ole sentimential way to which I'm accustomed.
*spittle*
Incorporating a lethal combination of button down & spread collar look.
Voila...Bone Smugglers!
buy gold. better yet, help drive a silver stake right thru JPM's heart, buy silver.
Why is Baarney Frank not in jail for creating this mess by mandating "low income" loans?
Until people like Barney have to answer for their greed and incompetence, this nation can't/won't move forward. And while his handlers and pals are in office, that ain't gonna happen.
Watchout Barney and Chris, if the next election goes bad for you.
Barney Frank will never lose his seat (elected one that is). He is a poster child for all that is wrong with congressional re-districting.
+1
Gerrymandering deprives most Americans of any real choice in their Representatives, unless you count the primary prcess.
Case in point - after the 2000 census my home went from a safe Democrat district (unopposed) to a safe Republican district (unopposed, with a very uncompetitive primary). The old Rep kept his seat, they just moved my neighborhood into a new Republican district (maybe we were making the incumbent's district too heterogenous).
It's ironic that the House, which is supposed to be the most representative body, has become such a bastion of incumbency and the Senate races are the only ones in which there's a real contest.
The poor innocent bankers and mortgage brokers. Barney Frank told them to make all those low income loans, and they had no choice.
He is obviously single-handedly responsible for this whole mess.
That was one funny title and appropriate for Barney. Benny and Barney make a good couple in a horror story relating to US economy.
translation ... Barney Frank is saying dont look at me to help I am captured.
Forgive Barney, he knows as much about economics, as well... Barney.
Actually, Barney knows quite a bit about economics and is highly intelligent. He just happens to be a huge scumbag pigman.
Which makes him pretty much evil, since every thing he has done to destroy the USA he has done on purpose.

The kosher lesbian elmer fudd strikes again
"kosher lesbian elmer fudd". Nice.
Birds of a feather.
"... as well as addressing the economic situation he inherited."
From you, Barney. Thanks for that.
"... has demonstrated that he is fully ready to reverse course when economic conditions dictate."
How, exactly, has he done this? I must have missed it. Maybe it happened while I was on vacation...
With respect to GS upgrading the S&P500 target to 1,100+, maybe they will set Chemical Abby loose on MSM again...
Audit the FED already Barney. You are holding up HR1207 in committee. Enough already - stop delaying and audit the fucking place already. Not sure why democrats are carrying this non disclosure and non transparency water.
PS - I hate both fantasy parties.
two parties?
what is the difference between replicrats and democans?
Agreed whether your fantasy team is the donkeys or elephants both are corrupt and different sides of the same coin. Scary how many people are fanatics and so passionate about their teams. Get a life folks they are one in the same.
Congress should not approve his reappointment until an audit is complete. This is one of the best chances to find out what the Fed has been up to. How can the congress determine if Bernanke deserves to be reappointed, if they can see what he had done?
thay it with a lithp
Thweet!
nithe.
what makes barney fwank think that anyone wants his endorsement? I though big ben was the right man for the job until I read that barney does as well.

After 5 minutes of primal screaming at the wall, I really don't feel any better. Anyone have a Ricola?

Shame on you, Massachusetts
is the US government actively trying to create hyperinflation?
Uh, yea! They want to destroy the dollar so it can be replaced by the Amero (or equivalent). Guess who benefits? Certainly not those snakes in the Federal Reserve, gasp, the horrors!
Came across this little ditty a year or so ago.

The beginning is good reading about cause and affect, but the golden ratio is not found until headline "Stabilization--The Rentenmark Miracle", maybe it's a stretch. Give the whole thing a read, ruminate on it, and come to your own conclusion. If you see any eerie parallels between what happened then and what's happening today then you still have a small lump in your cranial cavity called a brain stem.

The truth is out there, just everybody prefers to ignore it.
first: BF inherited the crisis from himself (as did Ben).
second: There is a point when most grownups including BF and President Obama take responsibility and stop blaming others.
third: By re-appointing (and if you listen to the tape of President Obama he said "I am re-appointing" - not nominating) Bernanke, the President is perhaps taking that first step towards ownership and responsibility and dare I say leadership, or perhaps he just needs a distraction from the health care disaster.
Whatever, the "inherited" excuse is beginning to wear quite thin. That brings to mind one of Churchill's great speeches where he said:
"I beg to move,
That this House welcomes the formation of a Government representing the united and inflexible resolve of the nation to prosecute the war with Germany (that we inherited) to a victorious conclusion...."

Frank is pretty much an idiot when it comes to economics but when it comes to kissing a mans ass he is exteremely good at it.
i dont know if these were posted before. Quite accurate in terms of describing the madness today http://ispeakofpeak.blogspot.com/2009/08/abby-joseph-cohen-sees-s-and-p-...

Chaucer couldnt have said it better. May BFg get one "loud as a thunderclap" as he goes for his next dinner.
Perhaps BB has made some bad decisions along the way. Never the less, he is the only person in either NYC or DC who appears to put the interests of the nation first. (And I might be wrong about him as well.)
Anyone read Larry Flynt in the Huffington Post today? He's calling for a national strike.

So how's this grab you:
The rumored bank holiday for Aug 24 is one week off. It is looking good for the 31st, though.
Here are 2 peculiarities:
1-Bernanke is reappointed, thereby eliminating a key unknown for a banking system rearrangement. Ben is now with Obama at Martha's Vineyard, for how long, all week?
2-On Calculated Risk, there is a post regarding George Mason University students that they can no longer park in the FDIC garage in the evenings, starting Sunday, Aug 30 beginning at 5:30pm. It appears the FDIC will be working late with full staff, ahem....but starting on Aug 30 does seem a little ominous. Maybe I'm looking too hard for something, but these couple tidbits are making that bank holiday rumor sound more plausible.
What do you guys think? Also makes this extended stock rally seem like the mother of all setups.
and volcker keeps reiterating that lie about the money market funds having an unfair advantage over banks and being a systemic risk.
banks dont have the liquidity/maturity restrictions of M/M funds and are the real systemic risk. all we have to go on is lies, but this particular lie is the most direct evidence i know of that they cant put the wheels back on the banks and will appropriate that huge hoard of m/m cash as a bank infusion and more fractional reserve money supply.
i think i'll turn on cnbc. i need someone to tell me not to worry.
Corus is due to go down around September 3. Could there be another big one in the bucket as well?

YOUR AN UTTER AND ABSOLUTE MORON!
WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM?
Oh, Zimbabwe.
Play the "Inherited" Drinking Game with announcements from these dissembling drips; take a sip every time one of them whines about having been handed a sack of crap ... as if they weren't in Congress, in power, prior to January of this year.
You'll be wasted in three minutes.
how exactly is this bipartisan? oh thats right, Bush appointed him. love the logic that is, all bad things that occur on Obama's watch are Bush's fault, until we need to use something Bush did to bolster something we are doing now (cough renditions, wiretaps, etc.)

For those of you that don't get it, I think this will explain:

Hilarious.
Today, the Federal Reserve’s duties fall into four general areas:
• conducting the nation’s monetary policy by inf luencing the monetary and credit conditions in the economy in pursuit of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long-term interest rates
• supervising and regulating banking institutions to ensure the safety and soundness of the nation’s banking and financial system and to protect the credit rights of consumers
• maintaining the stability of the financial system and containing systemic risk that may arise in financial markets
• providing financial services to depository institutions, the U.S. government, and foreign official institutions, including playing a major role in operating the nation’s payments system

Hard to believe all this stuff...yet it keeps happening.
Bwahahahaha. Barney the tool. More Bernanke anyone? With Punch?
It's so hard to believe, comprehend, understand, forshtay that Barney Frank lives on the same planet as the rest of the world, and that on top of that he occupies a senior seat in Congress. This is ontological proof that god is really an evil clown.
The people who elect him are aliens, hatched from pods. What do they see in this blithering idiot?
Is it possible that no one really voted for him, he just showed up one day in congress and no one has yetthought to ask him what the fuck is he doing here?
Cue up the Weather girls...sweety's favorite song :-)

BF is not my BFF. One of the most infuriatingly hypocritical and annoying politicians on planet earth. Pls vote him out, 4th congressional district of Mass. C'mon New Bedford, is there not an upstanding, principled whaler among you that would fit the ticket? I'm sure he/she would have more financial sense than Barney-boy.
i despise politicians.
