Barney Frank Removes Bank Fee Provision From FinReg To Weasel Enough Votes

Tyler Durden's picture

Surprised? Don't be. The congressman from Fannie Mae is only doing what is in his best interest. Not in that of America, mind you. But his own? Absolutely. Presumably the bill will now have enough votes to pass. Barney also saying TARP funds, so generously provided originally by taxpayers, will be used to fill funding holes instead. End result: B.F. and Wall Street 1; America, and highly intelligent electorate who votes Frank into office year after year 0.

Barney Frank, the human weasel.  It has a good ring to it.

Well, everyone knows that Bwarney's a weasel.

The problem is a "NAY" vote (or 2) just got bought by the banking sector, and and from all appearances that Scott Brown is that weasel.

If so, he sure has a whole lot of 'splainin to do.

I have yet to see what this 19 billion dollar fund was going to be used for. I have only read it goes towards "other provisions in the bill". My guess is it would instantly become another slush fund for Barney and the boys to subsidize crap loans to their constiuents or other congressional chicanery. We're better off without it.

That's not entirely the point... though it makes for good theatre and provides and adequate distraction.  We call that "framing" in these parts of the hills.

Appearently, Scott Brown can only come up with ONLY ONE reason why FigReg should not be passed.

Are you freaking kidding me?

We are better off scapping this whole damn bill, bringing back Glass-Stegall, and letting the chips fall where they may.

Why ANYONE let a shyster like Chistopher Dodd take the lead on this monstrosity is a freaking mystery to me.

Yes, the entire process is disgusting. I'm pretty sure that Glass Stegall document was already drawn up and wouldn't take 2,000 pages of countless giveaways and bribes to reinstate.

Since when did we give Benny a never ending line of credit with TARP?  Why do they keep trying to revert back to using that money whenever they feel like it, like it is theirs to do whatever they want when they want?  This was not the purpose behind TARP.  How does Congress just write this moron Bernanke a never ending check?  They have to stop this crap.

This is exactly why the gov't didn't need another 19 billion slush fund to tap into. They will use it for every purpose but for which it was intended.

Ah you did hear about his underage brothel out of his home right?  The thing is up top you can't get taken down if you play ball or are willing to drag others down.  There was sniffing around Frank and then he warned them off, he knows where other people have buried the bodies.

It's the same reason that criminals make sure everyone has a hand in the crime, it binds them together.  To reveal the sin of one reveals the sin of all.  So all have an interest in covering for each other.  Frank could have raped and murdered dozens of children in front of both Reds and Blues and no one would speak up, it's a gang of evil.

It seems there is a lot more missing than that. My theory is that some of these guys are accumulating the stolen funds and will spend them only after deflation takes hold-and only in those sectors where deflation takes hold--in order to build up hard assets and act like they are doing something about the deflation. A quote from the movie: The Outlaw Josey Wales - "don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining"

Wouldn't a more accurate title be, "Bwarney Fwank waters down FinReg even further to get even a single Republican to vote for reform?"

A major reason the current bill doesn't include anything like Glass-Steagal is that the Republican block is even more captured by GS than the Democrats - at least they were willing to tax the banks, the Republicans would not even do that.

You talk as if there are two parties, there is not. There is the one big government, looter party. It has two factions but the differences are only skin deep.

It's an evolution of control. From watching the US, I'm convinced that if the USSR had a "two-party" system they would still be around. Allowing the masses believe change is possible under the current system (which it is not) allows them to blow off steam. The current political process serves as nothing more the n the 2 minute hate.

He's not just serving his own interests, TD:  he's serving the interests of the banks that own him, that own the government, and that own your little capitalist system.  He's saving capitalism, according to the capitalists.

And that's the way things should work when self-interested parasites determine which laws count and which ones don't.
