Bernie Sanders' S.604 "Federal Reserva Sunshine Act" Now With 23 Cosponsors
While Congress is still in recess, it is relevant to remember that one of the most critical pieces of legislation, Ron Paul's HR 1207 Bill is still waiting in the corridors, compliments of several individuals who for some reason or another are trying to do all they can to prevent a bill which has a guaranteed passage, with 282 co-sponsors, the second it goes to a vote.
And yet the heat is already rising in the Senate, with Bernie Sanders' S. 604 Bill aka the "Federal Reserve Sunshine Act of 2009" already receiving increasing endorsement. At last count the bill had 23 co-sponsors, listed below:
John Barrasso [R-WY]
Robert Bennett [R-UT]
Samuel Brownback [R-KS]
Richard Burr [R-NC]
Benjamin Cardin [D-MD]
Saxby Chambliss [R-GA]
Thomas Coburn [R-OK]
John Cornyn [R-TX]
Michael Crapo [R-ID]
Jim DeMint [R-SC]
Russell Feingold [D-WI]
Lindsey Graham [R-SC]
Charles Grassley [R-IA]
Thomas Harkin [D-IA]
Orrin Hatch [R-UT]
Kay Hutchison [R-TX]
James Inhofe [R-OK]
John Isakson [R-GA]
Blanche Lincoln [D-AR]
John McCain [R-AZ]
James Risch [R-ID]
David Vitter [R-LA]
Jim Webb [D-VA]
We suggest readers contact their Senators and voice their endorsement of this critical measure which many are trying to drown out in a whole lot of noise.

Hammered my senators a while ago. Got some bullshit form letter in reply. Go figure CA is so fecked up
All I got from Feinstein and ma'am were form letters back.
Tyler any comment abou the New York Post article? CNBS says it's you they are talking about..
I dont think TD needs to respond. It says something that a "major" (and i use that loosely) network is taking time to respond to a blog that is raising a lot of questions about this fantasy market
traffic on this site could start going crazy
More free publicity for Zero Hedge! Love it! Keep up the good work and hope your traffic increases even more so you can get more ad revenue. For anyone who cares, here's the link to the Post story.

Anyone know Daniel Ivandjiiski's birthdate?
At the bottom of the article is a nomination form for people who made a difference in New York. I figured it wasn't a coincidence and I'd nominate someone.
Just plug one in, worked for me.
I believe the accusation of insider trading is something to comment on, unless it is ZH's policy to contend 'Do as I say not as I do.', a refusal to comment, IMO would be a non-denial denial, and would color my perception of the blog from here on out.
I love the info, but as always, consider the source. It's hard to take grandstanding priciples, from those who do not follow it themselves.
The person being discussed profited a total of $780 for insider trading according to Reuters.
That would make him near the top of SEC's offender list as they draw the line at $1,000, above which point insider trading gets categorized as "too big to fail"
Thanks howard I will look for that, in that case it would sound like a case of someone who didn't play ball with the big boys, which would sound like ZH...
TD. If you fucked the dummy for $780.00, that explains how they missed Madoff.......LOL LOL.
Under no circumstances should they play the media game. Stick to content and live/die by contecnt. The machine wants to destroy "him". TD must choose his level of participation in the freak show.
I agree with this. I am currently enjoying watching the MSM trying to make issues out of several things, issues they love to run with, distort, sell airtime, and destroy their opposition. The financial media would love to get a piece of TD; DISCREDIT! DISCREDIT!
Another one I'm currently watching is the furor-wanna-bee over open carry in the presence of Lord Obama. They're trying to paint it as racism. DISCREDIT! DISCREDIT!
604 needs to be amended to explicitly include "all off balance sheet funds, accounts" etc. It doesn't have enough teeth as it

I heaw Bawney Fwanks is opposed to the Sunshine act.
Barney is all for investigating - where the Sun doesn't shine.
I've got Roland Burris and Dick Durbin as my senators. I'll contact them but I doubt either will do jack shit. Burris is a typical scumbag Chicago politician.
Same here. I sent letters out anyway though. No word from durbin but burris send some shit form letter basically saying "thanks but kiss my ass".

Nice to see one of my Senators is a co-sponser. I'll send a letter to my other Senator, Kay "Crimanole" Hagen. She's a former executive of NCNB so you know she's a Wall Street whore.
I guess this is a list of those in our senate still left with some conscience (unless they're just trying to up the bid on their votes against it, which is always a possibility). It's out only hope for the future that more sign onto this. I've been getting everyone I know to send in letters and calls to hopefully get their reps and senators to join in.
If it gets to the floors it is going to be slow slow going getting them passed and then reconciled and passed for a final bill. Then Obama will veto it or alternately it will simply be ignored.
I have not read it. Who is supposed to be doing the auditing? Audit what? They will be stuck in some sub basement with folding chairs and a staff of 4 like Liz Warren. Held in total contempt.
NY guy here, best as I've been able to glean, both Sens. Schumer & Gillibrand have said bupkis regarding this.
Although, I believe my congresscritter Eric Massa is the only NY Dem to cosponsor HR1207.
The next critical step is to get the bill out of committee. The focus then becomes on the members of that committee. If you don't have a Senator on that committee, then it's pretty much a null topic for your Senator.
Get constituents who have a Senator on that committee to talk the position up. Otherwise, Chris Dodd (committee chairman) will probably kill it... :(
Committee members are listed here:

There are no Republicans or Independants on this comittee? I thought most comittees had minority party representation. This bill will never see the light of day.
You're correct. Here's the link for committee membership: http://banking.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=CommitteeInformati...
S 604 needs to be amended to explicitly include "all off balance sheet funds, accounts" etc. It doesn't have enough teeth as it is.
I know my two from Tennessee, Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker won't do this unless compelled to. Their "advisor's" would not approve.
Sunshine is the ultimate disinfectant?
Nah.
It's gravity.
No, it's "to big to FAIL", not "TO BIG TO FALL".
2legit2quit
TOO
Two "o"s
TOO big TO fail
They are trying to silence TD. We can't let this happen. Stand tough, Tyler. We have your back.
crossed then the auto-buy programs will start dumping with wild abandon. why do i sense, however,

Senator Bernie Sanders continues to prove himself as one of the only "REAL" politicians we have right now. I hope someday America gets to see the Fed for what it really is? A room with full of IOUS and a printing press.
Maybe all of my angry faxes to Webb did some good. My other Senator, Warner, is on the banking committee. He's next!
I am not sure if anyone has seen this article about Google "being forced to give up a bloggers identity" on the UK Telegraph website: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/6060546/Bloggers-beware-Goo...
There are some pretty alarming statements made in this article by the author. They are eerily similar to those of Dennis Neal, bloggers should not be able to hide behind anonymity. The thought police are out in full force.
