Bernstein Joins Kool Aid Drinkers As It Upgrades GE Stock To $19 On "Valumagination"

Tyler Durden's picture

Let us paraphrase the report: GE will be bailed out by the NY Fed (although without its soon to be disposed CNBC subsidiary). Forever. Period. The opportunity cost of reading this report is a full frontal lobotomy. You have been warned.

Valumagination! I'm sold!

The "Risk" disclaimer only outlines events which are highly improbable in this macro/regulatory environment... ;)

Is this going to be rememberred as the market where the smart people looking at fundamentals all get screwed and the idiots counting on taxpayer money and bailouts all get rich? This is now institutionalizing "moral hazard" and using it as an investment thesis.

scarecrow you neglected to mention that in addition to idiots there were lots of smart, dishonest insiders who have cashed in on the March - November Bernanke sponsored rally

Wonder how much they paid for that? I have been calling them Gubment Electric since last year. It's coming soon to a bailout near you. This shit seems like it's never going to end.

I couldn't agree more with this upgrade.  With all of the reserve requirements soon to be levied on bank holding companies, GE has already submitted their letter to the Federal Reserve requesting their exemption.  Curiously enough, it was drafted by William C. Dudley, President of the New York Fed.

Price target north of $40... EASILY!

Tyler, in all seriousness, do you disagree with the central thesis, that GE will be bailed out forever?

Let's summarize this thread so far:

  • SHAMWOW is SOLD by the "Valumagination"
  • JACKTHETRADER is CUTTING employee benefits
  • SCARECROW is getting SPOOKED by the fundamentalists getting hurt while the idiots continue counting on government handouts
  • STOPLOSS thinks there is NO END to this shit
  • UNSCARRED says KEEP BUYING, price target $40

Where does it go from here?

I would add the brilliant and "cutting edge" marketing approach advertising jet engines on their fully owned website geared to the retail, individual market.

I may buy one of the those jet engines. I just gotta figure out what to do with it.

I was thinking more along the lines of:

  • ANAL_YST tells everyone BEND OVER AND TAKE IT
  • DEADHEAD says BernsteinResearch must be HIGH
  • INTERNET TOUGH GUY says the Bernstein analysts need to have their ASS KICKED
  • RAINMAN tells us everyone to BUY, DEFINATELY BUY

But I see where you're going with it...

GE's Imagination At Work corporate motto is working well, at least in the financial dep, and the company stock reflects that.

A weak dollar through 2010 should aid exports in transportation. However, many factors could influence the needed stability this report implies. It is an old world report in a new age of volatility. The omissions speak volumes about what still is unfashionable to serve up, avoiding the indigestion of the uninformed. Burp!
