Biden: "It's a Depression For Millions of Americans"

George Washington's picture

Washington's Blog.

Joe Biden said yesterday:

My grandpop used to say ... "When the guy in Minooka's out of work, it's an economic
slowdown. When your brother- in-law's out of work, it's a recession.
When you're out of work, it's a depression.”

[Asked how he views it, Biden responded:] Well, it's a depression. It's a
depression for millions of Americans, through no fault of their own.

Before you decide whether Joe is just shooting his mouth off or he's onto something, read this, this and this.

You KNOW the guy is absolutely on-track when Sean Satannity is asking his arch-enemy to control his arch-enemy's man because he is concerned that he is off (the collective) message.

Someone needs to ask Mr. Satannity if it would EVER be OK to tell the truth about the economy, politics or anything else!

What this is, folks - is someone who is actually honest somehow bursting away from the gravity of the two-sided coin that is the political spin machine.

What about what Biden said is not true?

Miles... normally I greatly appreciate your posts - but this one is negative 1 (at least).

IE.  Appreciated.  I am a cynic with a fair dose of the Penna. coal region coloring my vision as in I know when the thumb has been applied at the company store..  If  Joe were running a balloon we would be seeing evidence elsewhere (outside of the previously posted thread concerning Dylan & Chuckie's morning discussion).  Perhaps I have missed it.  If so please direct me so I can have a fuller appreciation for Joe's efforts here.

Gotcha... I typically share your cynicism.

In this case, I'm just thinking that Joe has a history for going off-message, and this is an example of that type of thing (vs this being some clever double-agent-like smoke screen for the "planned message" that Sean would then show faux concern about him not following).

In this case I think Joe is just Occam's Cigar.  Or is it Freud's Razor?  ;-)

BTW - Layne rocks.

IE.  The kicker here is that Joe may well be laying some early groundwork.  We'll see.  I have been hypothesizing along these lines for a few weeks now.  After all, this is the role he was hired to fill.... And as an old Penna. hand he is uniquely qualified.  If not, then the blow will be chalked up to another historical concept.

I only hope I can apply the pure that Layne delivered in the early years.

BTW, whoever junked ya jumped the gun, big time.

Cheers.

Cheers to you too - and looking forward to talking more about this emerging line of thought.

just pure marshmallow fluff served straight up without the benefit of Wonder bread.

Minooka is a classic Scranton reference and especially telling coming from a kid that grew up on the hill.  He reached deep for this one folks and the subtlety is pure Penna. politics at its finest. Too bad that in the final analysis this is just pure marshmallow fluff served straight up without the benefit of Wonder bread.

i'm with miles on this one.  they're just laying the groundwork for the 10% unemployment print that they know is coming down the pike any moment now.

joe may be a canary in the coal mine, but he was placed there strategically for that exact purpose.

the one thing you have to give alexrod props for is that he's a master at understanding the current zeitgeist.  i wouldn't be surprised if he had one of those webbot programs running full tilt deep in the bowels of the WH.

this is the adminstration saying now 'i know that you know that i know'.

all sugar, no starch.

Hmmmm, "Oh Joe", indeed.
I take it a little more serious than that. This is Joe Biden's racism getting out, undermining our natty, clean and well-spoken President.
Shame on you, Joe.

The "t" on the keyboard is far enough from the "p" that I am reasonably sure you're not a racist.
