Bin Had

George Washington's picture

Preface: You can either
dismiss all of the allegations in the first part of this post as nutty
conspiracy theories, or decide that they are real and that I am using
parody. Your choice. Either way, it is clear that we've been had ...

Forget that Bin Laden likely received CIA training and support in fighting against the Russians in Afghanistan. See this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this and this.

Forget the allegations by France's oldest and second-largest newspaper that a CIA agent met with Bin Laden two months before 9/11, and the claim by a former FBI translator that Bin Laden worked with the CIA right up until 9/11.

Forget that 9/11 was entirely foreseeable, and that government more or less heard the 9/11 hijackers' plans from their own mouths.

Forget that Dick Cheney was in charge of all counter-terrorism exercises, activities and responses on 9/11 (see this Department of State announcement, this Department of State announcement, this CNN article and this essay), and that:

Forget that governments from around the world admit that they carry out false flag terrorism to justify their political goal.

Finally, forget that the U.S. could easily have captured Bin Laden in 2001 or 2007, but chose not to do so.

Bin Had

Ignoring the above, it is still obvious that we've been had.

Specifically, only 5 hours after the 9/11 attacks, Donald Rumsfeld said "my interest is to hit Saddam". He also said "Go massive . . . Sweep it all up. Things related and not."

And at 2:40 p.m. on September 11th, in a memorandum of discussions
between top administration officials, several lines below the
statement "judge whether good enough [to] hit S.H. [that is, Saddam
Hussein] at same time", is the statement "Hard to get a good case."
In other words, top officials knew that there wasn't a good case
that Hussein was behind 9/11, but they wanted to use the 9/11 attacks
as an excuse to justify war with Iraq anyway.

Moreover, "Ten days after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, President
Bush was told in a highly classified briefing that the U.S.
intelligence community had no evidence linking the Iraqi regime of
Saddam Hussein to the [9/11] attacks and that there was scant credible
evidence that Iraq had any significant collaborative ties with Al
Qaeda"
.

And a Defense Intelligence Terrorism Summary issued in February 2002 by the United States Defense Intelligence Agency cast significant doubt on the possibility of a Saddam Hussein-al-Qaeda conspiracy.

And yet Bush, Cheney and other top administration officials claimed repeatedly for years that Saddam was behind 9/11. See this analysis. Indeed, Bush administration officials apparently swore in a lawsuit that Saddam was behind 9/11.

Moreover, President Bush's March 18, 2003 letter to Congress authorizing the use of force against Iraq, includes the following paragraph:

(2)
acting pursuant to the Constitution and Public Law 107-243 is
consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take
the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist
organizations, including those nations, organizations, or persons
who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks
that occurred on September 11, 2001
.

Therefore, the
Bush administration expressly justified the Iraq war to Congress by
representing that Iraq planned, authorized, committed, or aided the
9/11 attacks. See this.

Moreover, the torture program which Cheney created was specifically aimed
at producing false confessions in an attempt to link Iraq and 9/11: er,
the type of torture used since 9/11 was a special type of torture specifically aimed at creating false confessions:

And see this.

As American historian, investigative journalist and policy analyst Gareth Porter writes this week:

Cheney and Rumsfeld were determined not to allow a focus on bin Laden
to interfere with their plan for a U.S. invasion of Iraq to
overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime.

It's not just Iraq.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair says that Dick Cheney's vision of policy towards the Middle East after 9/11 was to re-draw the map.

Porter writes in the Asia Times:

Feith's book, War and Decision, released last month, provides excerpts of the paper Rumsfeld sent to President George W Bush on September 30, 2001, calling for the administration to focus not on taking down Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network but on the aim of establishing "new regimes" in a series of states [including Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Sudan, Somalia and Lebanon ]

There are some bad guys out there, but their importance has been greatly exaggerated to justify America's imperial ambitions. No wonder former U.S. National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski told the Senate that the war on terror is "a mythical historical narrative".

Bin Laden might have been a bad guy ... but the way his life and death have been used have been dishonest.

Thanks again GW for your excellent reporting and documentation skills; we are advancing daily with the truth to bring the Traitors to our Democracy and country to Justice.

I recommend your readers watch two recent, must see, videos of an interview with Dr. Steve Pieczenik-- a real stand-up American hero.

Don't bother. GW is only interested in half of the truth. He won't get into the Pieczenik story because it would show that 2001-2011 has all been a big lie. GW wants us to believe that 2001-2008 was a lie, and everything since then has been the truth. Basically, he is an Obama lackey and apologist posing as an unbiased warrior fighting for truth and justice.

George,

Your kooky fringe nonsense has been widely discredited. The reality is that enhanced interrogation (waterboarding etc) works, and resulted DIRECTLY in the capture and death of Bin Laden. Tough shit.  PS-You are a dupe.

What if someone were to drag Obama outside from the White house in front of his wife and daughters and double-tapped him in the temple for "terrorism"?

I'm sure you would be writing a few dozen articles expressing your outrage.

"Who was investigated last year by the Justice Department for the destruction of videos showing senior al-Qaeda officials being interrogated, says the harsh questioning of terrorism suspects produced the information that eventually led to Osama bin Laden’s death."

Well, he's reliable ... He destroyed the very tapes that could have proven one way or the other.

Here's a little background ...

The interrogators made videotapes of the interrogations. The 9/11 Commission asked for all tapes, but the CIA lied and said there weren't any.

The CIA then destroyed the tapes.

Specifically, the New York Times confirms that the government swore that it had turned over all of the relevant material regarding the statements of the people being interrogated:

“The commission did formally request material of this kind from all relevant agencies, and the commission was assured that we had received all the material responsive to our request,” said Philip D. Zelikow, who served as executive director of the Sept. 11 commission ....

“No tapes were acknowledged or turned over, nor was the commission provided with any transcript prepared from recordings,” he said.

But is the destruction of the tapes -- and hiding from the 9/11 Commission the fact that the tapes existed -- a big deal? Yes, actually. As the Times goes on to state:

Daniel Marcus, a law professor at American University who served as general counsel for the Sept. 11 commission and was involved in the discussions about interviews with Al Qaeda leaders, said he had heard nothing about any tapes being destroyed.

If tapes were destroyed, he said, “it’s a big deal, it’s a very big deal,” because it could amount to obstruction of justice to withhold evidence being sought in criminal or fact-finding investigations.

Indeed, 9/11 Commission co-chairs Thomas Keane and Lee Hamilton wrote:

Those who knew about those videotapes — and did not tell us about them — obstructed our investigation.

The CIA also is refusing to release any transcripts from the interrogation sessions. As I wrote a year ago:

What does the fact that the CIA destroyed numerous videotapes of Guantanamo interrogations, but has 3,000 pages of transcripts from those tapes really mean?

Initially, it means that CIA's claim that it destroyed the video tapes to protect the interrogators' identity is false. Why? Well, the transcripts contain the identity of the interrogator. And the CIA is refusing to produce the transcripts.

Obviously, the CIA could have "blurred" the face of the interrogator and shifted his voice (like you've seen on investigative tv shows like 60 Minutes) to protect the interrogator's identity. And since the CIA is not releasing the transcripts, it similarly could have refused to release the videos.

The fact that the CIA instead destroyed the videos shows that it has something to hide.

You're outraged by the waterboarding of suspected terrorists and wrote an entire article saying that it represented the demise of America as the good guy, but have nothing to write about the President of the United States ordering Navy SEALs to execute unarmed suspected terrorists, including CIA employee Osama bin Laden? So now, Obama is the prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner and it's fine with you?

Then you cite the CIA destruction of have as proof of something to hide, but have nothing to write about the quick disposal of OBL's body in the ocean and the administration's refusal to release any proof whatsoever or to answer anymore questions regarding what is supposed to be the biggest event in the "war on Terror" since 9/11?.

Sounds like the government is a boyscout when your man is President, but is an untrustworthy devil when the opposition's man is in office. Silence speaks volumes.

Fri, 05/06/2011 - 17:56 | 1249406 Smokey1

Your position is inconsistent. On one hand, you contend that waterboarding does not work, but on the other hand you claim that those participating in the activity hide their efforts.

Look. You can make a legitimate case that waterboarding and such is deplorable behavior and should not be condoned for any reason in a civilized nation. But to contend, as you have in other articles, that waterboarding does not work and is ineffective, well, that is a transparently biased position to take and laughably absurd on its face. A smidgeon of common sense utterly obliterates your contention. Do you honestly think that a terrorist with vital information, who has battery cables hooked to his nutsack, will not be more forthcoming than he otherwise would?

Did you fail critical thinking?  Criminally hiding illegal activity [Obstruction of justice regarding an investigation of torture] does not mean that the criminal activity in question generally yeided valid information.

btw - battery cable attached to the nutsack might get you more information - but the real issue is can you sift out the garbage that are just desperate attempts to get the pain to stop from the occasional truthful admission?  The issue [besides the obvious one of immoral and unethical conduct] is that torture has been show to result in a net reduction in effective intelligence gathering because your assets get tied-up following worthless dead-ends.

Do you think it is criminal or illegal to have an unarmed man dragged out of a house and shot in the head in front of his wife and children? How about the other unarmed people in the compound who were executed without trial? They could have been housekeepers, cooks, or cleaners. According to the administration, only one person had a weapon.

Terrorist Hunter: General Under Wolfowitz Told Me 9/11 Was False Flag
  •

Infowars.com
May 6, 2011

Listen to the astounding interviews we have conducted this week with Dr. Steve R. Pieczenik, a top US government insider who has held numerous different influential positions under five different Presidents and still works with the Defense Department. Pieczenik shockingly told The Alex Jones Show that Osama Bin Laden died in 2001 and that he was prepared to testify in front of a grand jury how a top general under Paul Wolfowitz told him directly that 9/11 was a false flag inside job. Pieczenik cannot be dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist,” he wrote the book on psychological warfare and counter-terror for the US State Department and was the inspiration for the Jack Ryan character in the popular 1992 movie Patriot Games.

Didn't Cheney clone Hitler too?  But seriously it is quite odd how Obama fell right in line with the Bush Administration after being so diametrically opposed to it before he took office.  There is clearly no distinction between the two parties outside of their marketing campaigns.  The losers just happen to be American people.   In the end "no one get's out alive" accept Cheney as he appears immune to death.  How many heart attacks can one guy have?

I don't think all politicians are corrupt from the start [just most]

My guess is that as soon as anybody gets in a postion to affect the interests of tptb - they get sat down and the rules are explained to them - along with nice pictures of what happened to those [and their families] who don't play ball on those particular issues that are deemed of importance.

I'm sure all kinds of rationalizations take place regarding the latitude the individual has to do "good" on all those other issues that aren't expressly off-limits as well.

This goes for businesses too I'm sure - you know somewhere along the line all the up and coming internet and communications companies get a sit-down with the NSA where their expectations are laid out.  And you know that even if a company like Google didn't play ball - their days would be numbered...

do you understand pyroclastic flows?  do you know that many 911 first responders are dying from radiation sickness type cancers. why do buildings made of cement and steel turn to fine dust?  why would places underneath the buildings burn with intense heat for months on end after the event, at temps approaching 3000 degrees?  please sir, do your own homework on it. the question is not did we, but just how many were used?  all of those people you saw that day running, covered in white dust, probably will die form cancers.......they breathed in that stuff the same as the 911 first responders did. what is abad about it is that christie todd whitman the head of the EPA at the time, said the air around there was ok to breathe.  oh ok christie....sure pally........i have never seen any report anywhere that some enterprizing individual took a look around with a geiger counter. too bad, in 2006, the new york police did a aerial sweep for nuclear radiation hot spots in new york. among the places they found , one of the worst , was the israeli embassy. now i ask you, why would that be?
