Bomb Explodes In Athens, One Man Dead

Tyler Durden's picture

SkyNews reports that one person was killed after a bomb exploded outside a public building. This time the target was not a US-based bank, but an "institute used for training public officials." One person has died.

The powerful blast shook the city's Patissia district at around 1950gmt.

"A man is dead and a girl was injured but she is not in danger," a police official said.

The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital.

The building which was targeted is an institute used for training public officials.

Police are investigating whether the person killed had been carrying the explosive.

More as we get it.

The Greek PM will accept one death for a competitive rate on the next bond offering.

NOT a cool comment John, especially since Greece is not issuing this week.

The truth hurts and is sometimes ugly.  The fact is that he would accept many more deaths just for the right to enslave his people even more.  Now you know the end result of debt slavery and worldwide moral hazard.

Unfortunately, this type of activity is playing right into the hands of TPTB.  Public displays of violent outrage only serve to give more power to the elites.  Skiing accidents and the like are much better for a movement.

Ya ya. I'm sure they are sitting around day and night trying to figure out ways to get us to bomb them so we can play into their hands.

Never said that.  Let me clarify for those who did not comprehend.  Violence provides an excuse for the State to further restrict liberty.  That whole, "You never let a serious crisis go to waste.  And what I mean by that, it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before", line of thought.

Obviously you don't know much about Greeks.

Greek people are rich, but they refuse to pay taxes because they are fed up. It’s the politicians that are driving the country to the brink.

You cannot get any license or permit of any sort without a payoff to the political machine through thuggery.

When the knife reaches the bone, bombs become appropriate in Greece.

It appears though that in the US, similar scenario is in the brewing.

Peaceful demonstrations and ballot-force first.

Tax revolt and monetary-force second

Physical force last.

Catharsis is necessary. If not by demand, then by force.

Sometimes you reach a point where you stop caring about cause and effect and action and reaction and you just do something because you can. It's all push whoever you can push around anyway.  If calls to higher self work then it will cause a lot less violence. But if serious discussions about tossing this scam in the trash and having a real system that's not based on ponzi shemes and group power growths do not occur then peope are going to get hurt. Not the nice kind of hurt. The severely damaged I was part of a gang and we had team dynamics and team cohesiveness and I still got my head crushed kind of hurt.

This alchemy pot can make psycho's that would make Hanibal Lecter cringe if people don't stick to the higher path. Undoing the conversion will be nigh impossible.

People really aren't afraid of clamp downs and violence from the state. It's expected. Because it's really simple. Equal power things will fight fairly. Unequal power things will stoop to any level.

The bomb was placed inside a bin in a poor downtown Athens neighbourhood popular with immigrants.  The dead, a Afghan boy of 15, was searching the bin for leftovers.  In close proximity his mother and younger sister were, fortunately, not harmed.

Let's hope and pray that the really good Greek people are protected from the dangerous ones. The prevailing power dynamics are becoming all to evident to see.

I think it was Kuntsler who once speculated that all it would take would be one grenade launched into a glass office tower by an angry citizen to get the ball rolling here in the US.

just sayin...

Kuntsler got his grenade in the form of a plane. MSM ran with it as a whacko and the story was quickly overwhelmed by "idol", Sandra's unfaithful hubby or whatever. Interesting how qucikly the "pilot's" manifesto disappeared from the internet. The ball is stuck in neutral.

What Me Worry?

Here is a timeline of some attacks in Greece over the last two years:

January 2007 - Guerrillas fire a grenade at the U.S. embassy in Athens, hitting its facade.

April 2007 - Gunmen attack the Nea Ionia police station in Athens. In May, the Revolutionary Struggle group, which has emerged as Greece's most serious domestic security threat since the dismantling of the November 17 guerrilla group in 2002, claim responsibility for this and the January attack.

October 24, 2008 - An attempted bomb attack outside Royal Dutch Shell's headquarters in the south of Athens fails. The Revolutionary Struggle group later claim responsibility.

January 5, 2009 - Weeks after the police shooting of a teenager in December 2008, gunmen linked to the Revolutionary Struggle seriously wound a 21-year-old policeman guarding the Culture Ministry in Athens. They said it was in revenge for the death of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos.

February 3 - Left-wing guerrillas from the Rebel Sect group fire shots and throw a grenade at a police station in Athens. A fortnight later, gunmen fire at least a dozen shots outside a private TV station, without injuring anyone in either attack.

March 4 - Arsonists throw gas canisters and firebombs causing a fire which seriously damages the Piraeus Bank branch in the northern Athens suburb of New Psychico.

March 11 - Revolutionary Struggles says it was behind two bomb attacks at Citibank branches in Athens. One attack was outside the headquarters on February 18 and the other, a bomb that went off outside a Citibank branch in Athens on March 10.

March 13 - A bomb explodes near Athens central police headquarters, causing serious damage to a state building and shops but no injuries. The leftist urban guerrilla group Popular Will later claims responsibility.

May 12 - A powerful bomb wrecks a Greek Eurobank branch in the outskirts of Athens. There are no injuries. Revolutionary Struggle claims the bombing.

May 20 - A time bomb goes off outside the office of a Greek investment company, damaging three floors of the central Athens building. Popular Will says it planted the bomb.

May 19 - Two small time bombs explode at Greek police stations under construction, causing minor damage but no injuries. The leftist group Fire Conspiracy Cells later claims responsibility.

June 17 - A Greek anti-terrorism policeman is killed in Athens. He was shot several times at close range. On June 22, the far-left Rebel Sect urban guerrilla group claims the killing.

July 11 - A bomb explodes at the entrance to the home of former deputy minister Panagiotis Hinofotis in southern Athens, causing damage but no injuries. The Fire Conspiracy Cells group later claims responsibility.

Sept 2 - The Athens bourse is struck by a bomb causing extensive damage, but it opens for trading at the usual time. Aweek later the militant guerilla group, the Revolutionary Struggle, claims responsibility.

-- A home-made bomb explodes outside a government building in the northern city of Thessaloniki, causing minor damage. The Fire Conspiracy Cells group later claims responsibility.

Jan 10 - A small bomb goes off outside parliament without causing any injuries. Fire Conspiracy Cells claim responsibility two days later.

Feb 16 - A bomb explodes outside the Athens offices of JP Morgan, the second largest U.S. bank by assets, causing minor damage. No group has claimed responsibility.

March 19-20 - Makeshift bombs explode outside a police detention center, the home of a leading member of the Pakistani community in Greece and the far-right, nationalist Golden Dawn group in Athens, within a space of 30 hours.

The FSB will be analysing all the evidence from these evil attacks. The Russians are very good at working out where to apportion blame. Their thoroughness in forensic work is well known. Putin will be talking with Ramzan Kadyrov soon. The leadership clique will plan their next moves and will take many things into account. Compassion for the perpetrators will not be one of them. There is a time and place for righteous, swift and brutal justice. I would not mess with the Russian Security Services. Long Live Mother Russia !

This is a sad incident and I doubt it was terrorism, but some probably stupid anti-immigrant fringe group in Greece. The Russian terrorist attack was far more deadly, and could start another war there.
