Ratigan needs some real content every now and then to break up the tedium. Personally, I can´t understand why anyone pays attention to the MSNBC shills, unless they enjoy donating their money to wall street.

Yup. That's what I thought.
Charity is what this country was all about back in the day. Now the rich are castigated for having money and they are taxed to such a point that they do not give anymore unless there is a benefit to them. It's statistically proven that charitable contributions go up when tax rates are lowered. It has also been statistically proven that lower income parts of the country, like the southeastern US give volumes more than the wealthier states like CT and MA. That would embarrass me if I lived up there.
So I'm finally going to be able to see how much gray hair should be airbrushed onto that photo Bruce has next to his name/ID?
I'll be tuned in. Bruce is up there with Reggie for quality.

A while back, when I cared enough to plug a TV into the cable, all I did was watch the Food Network. Other than that, there are no good channels, even for free.

Why doesn't Bruce take the $6k and go long some e-minis at at 11:00am and close out at 2:00pm, M-W, for a week or two? Chances are very good that he could set up Wendy in much better fashion courtesy of Ben, Tim and the PPT.
If Wendy has voted for and supported the status-quo all her life, she has little sympathy from me. My guess is that she has, given she set herself up to be dependant on them should something really bad happen and she needed financial aid.
Most of those I know who don't support the ruling political class have worked hard to disconnect themselves from the system and the supports (handouts) it offers.
Doesn't this just boil down to a question of the ends justifying the means?
Printing money out of thin air (which is a form of theft from your fellow humans) is okay under which circumstances? Can you list various categories of needy (homeless, hurricane victims, unemployed with kids, unemployed without kids, underemployed, renters, single car owners, people who only own one flat-panel TV, people who just like being dumb & stupid, lawyers with student loan balances, politicians) and then draw a line at a point in that list that says "The needy above this line have such hardship that we'll knowingly steal/wrest/seize from others to take care of them, but the needy below this point just get our sympathy"?
Sometimes pain and hardship are the boot in the butt that force societies to make lasting changes, often away from unsustainable idiocy and toward sustainable never-again ways of handling things. Wendy's plight isn't fair, but would she be content if money to support her were directly seized from her next door neighbor? How about people across town? Across the country? In other countries? At what point is she willing to be the motivation for theft, because in a society that hasn't had the wisdom to save for the future needs of charities and rainy days, the only resort left when taxes run out are theft from those who have, or a cold shoulder to those in need.
We are broke. Plain and simple. So far, we aren't really doing anything about the things that have caused us to be broke. So we bloody well don't *deserve* a society that is capable of handouts. If people can't hear the siren call of Sound Money, Small Government, Less Military, Low Taxes, and True Free Enterprise, then as a society we're due for all of the pain each one of us endures.
hear, hear. i believe the means are the end. i hope wendy and others in the same plight look back and learn from these experiences and do their own due diligence and educate themselves as to why the system is in such a mess.
many of us seem to learn best from the system of hard knocks.

If Wendy just "did what the President told me to do," and didn't take much time to analyze what was best for her family, I don't have much sympathy for her.

WTF was that? Bruce got like 1 sentence in and didn't even get to explain himself. This is typical TV business propaganda at its finest, as they do not want the American people to hear the real truth from real people. Dylan get Bruce back on the show for a real interview. Don't let it go down like this, what a shame.
This is not going to go away quite yet. Mhari Saito of NPR is doing a story on this. She is taking the human interst side of the story so it is a bit weepy. My gutteral NY/NJ twang will be on sometime monday morning. It will come out of Cleveland, but the hope it will go national. That would be a hoot. I will let you know.
