Busted: Pro-Mubarak Thugs Are Police Officers

George Washington's picture

Washington’s Blog

It should surprise no one that some if not all of the violent pro-Mubarak forces are plain clothes police officers.

The Guardian notes:

Sharif Kouddous, a prolific Egyptian tweeter and blogger in Cairo, describes "a brutal and coordinated campaign of violence" by the Mubarak regime, in an article posted on Democracy Now's website:

"Suddenly,
rocks started falling out of the sky," said Ismail Naguib, a witness
at the scene. "Rocks were flying everywhere. Everywhere." Many people
were hit. Some were badly cut, others had arms and legs broken. The mob
then charged in; some rode on horseback and camels, trampling and
beating people. Groups of them gathered on rooftops around Tahrir and
continued to pelt people with rocks.

"It's a massacre," said
Selma al-Tarzi as the attack was ongoing. "They have knives, they are
throwing molotov bombs, they are burning the trees, they are throwing
stones at us ... this is not a demonstration anymore, this is war."

Some
of the attackers were caught. Their IDs showed them to be policemen
dressed in civilians clothes. Others appeared to be state sponsored
"baltagiya" (gangs) and government employees. "Instead of uniformed
guys trying to stop you from protesting. You've got non-uniformed guys
trying to stop you from protesting," Naguib said.

AP points out:

Supporters
of President Hosni Mubarak charged into Cairo's central square on
horses and camels brandishing whips while others rained firebombs from
rooftops in what appeared to be an orchestrated assault against
protesters trying to topple Egypt's leader of 30 years. Three people
died and 600 were injured.

The protesters accused
Mubarak's regime of unleashing a force of paid thugs and plainclothes
police to crush their unprecedented 9-day-old movement, a day after the
82-year-old president refused to step down. They showed off police ID
badges they said were wrested from their attackers. Some government
workers said their employers ordered them into the streets.

***

If
any of the violence is instigated by the government, it should stop
immediately," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

CNN writes:

The
United States doesn't know the identity of "thugs" who attacked
anti-government protesters Wednesday in Egypt, but others have
identified them as "supporters of the government," U.S. State Department
spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters.

"This was clearly an attempt at intimidating the protesters," Crowley said.

And Al Jazeera reports:

Protesters
in Tahrir Square shows the Al Jazeera camera the ID cards of accused
plain clothed security (police ID) who came in earlier to create
chaos.

File 4816

This
is just like when the British police attacked the non-violent
protesters led by Gandhi, or the police in towns in the South of the
United States attacked the peaceful protesters led by Martin Luther
King, Jr.

Note: The police were also the ones doing most, if not all, of the looting. See this and this.

Once upon a time queen cleopatra fell in love with Emperor with roman nose and dirty toes. So she cut off his nails. She used camel drivers to bury precious nail cuttings in the pyramids. When the emperor awoke he said where are my nails? She replied in the pyramids with the Pharoahs. He said, I will therefore die there but first lets kill the beast here in bed. She complied. It was so good he burnt the library instead. Thats when he realised that being Emperor has good vibes. He went off to Libya and said 'veni, vidi, vinci'. Then he returned to Rome and got himself stabbed. End of story. I hope Mubarak does likewise.

"or the police in towns in the South of the United States attacked the peaceful protesters led by Martin Luther King"

pbs recently showed superb footage of the thuggish criminal alabama police officers attacking the king followers in selma....and the language they used to address blacks was not politically correct either....it's still the same today....

and let's not forget that a police officer from the memphis police department pulled the trigger on the gun which murdered king....and if he missed, army delta force assassins surrounded the motel to make sure the mission was accomplished....

it's no different in egypt...

see james douglass on the murder of king.

I bet the US-trained professional junior officers are just figuring out where to put the armored divisions when they round up the aged generals who have failed to pry Mubarak out.

Hope they hurry it up...with the goons defeated in their best chance to snuff the movement before dawn Thursday, Friday now sets up as a very red day.

So you are there to give us an onsite report?   What is your source of this information?  Unless you are there then you have no f**king clue what is going on.   Would you believe anything from any news media source who Constantly lies to you 24x7 about the economy, QE5, the US Treasury being looted, economic "growth", JP Morgue and silver manipulation.

Day in day out, people here totally discount any of the phony news and in this story they swallow crap from Anderson Cooper, Amanapour and other fools and propagandists in the media.

I love European "democracy". If one question the official Zionist version of the Holocaust, he will end up in a jail.

Well, how soon will the US government put in a jail or on an electric-chair US citizens who dare to question that Lea Harvey Oswald did not kill JFK or the 9/11 was not Al Qaeda job?

Yeah, we have the Constitution protecting the Freedom of Speech in America but lately neither GWB nor Obama nor the Congress nor the Supreme Court give a shit about the US Constitution and the Law of the Land.

Yeah, we have the Home Security Administration, TSA, SEC, etc., but I feel less and less safe.

On a bright side, I do not think that a FBI special agent riding a camel is a big threat in a country with almost 300 million armed citizens. God bless our founding fathers!

After all, I do not believe that my country fellow citizens are ready to give up their freedom and liberty just because a bearded man is riding a camel somewhere in Afghanistan.

Why go all the way back to Ghandi and MLK? Mayor Bloomberg had his goons attack anti-war protesters in NYC in 2003 but at least New York had to eventually pay millions to the victims. Then we just had the goons in Pittsburgh attack protesters and even non-protesters at the G-20 or whatever G it was with sound weapons.

He's right. You didn't know? Did you just get internet?

Obama was born to a Muslim father, Barrack Sr., and under Sharia law that makes him a Muslim for life. A technicality for sure, and not his fault, but there it is. Renouncing Islam would make one an apostate under Sharia law which is punishable by death.

His mentor growing up was Frank Marshall Davis, a card carrying member of the American Communist Party. Davis  was very active and wrote anti-American propaganda for the commie paper in the USA in the 50's & 60's. His mother was in Hawaii to study Russian when he was born.

Obama's black nationalist church in Chicago gave Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan, a lifetime achievement award in 2007.  Obama maintains ties from the White House with CAIR, which is the PR outreach for the Muslim Brotherhood here in America.

Obama's marxist friends, Bill Ayers and the pink ladies (Jodie Evans, et al), are probably in Cairo right now  helping to organize the protests with the Muslim Brotherhood. They were also front and center organizing the Gaza Flotillas with the Muslim Brotherhood that got 9 people killed last year. Jodie Evans was on the boat! She's a bundler for Obama who brought in over $200K for his campaign. Same bunch also marched with Hamas against Israel in Gaza before that. Hamas is the Muslim Brotherhood in Palestine.

There's way more, but you get the picture.

I don't care so much if he is/was a muslim or is/was a marxist. I care what his policies are and what he's doing in office. As president, he teamed up in 2009 with Hugo Chavez to back the failed marxist takeover of Honduras by Zelaya -- not good. So he is a slow learner.

And now there's Cairo....

Personally I can name no "good" US President in my lifetime which began in the fifties. A couple may have done one, maybe two, good "acts" during their presidency, but that does not absolve them of their failures to serve the regular citizen and HIS "Bill of Rights".

I was born under and have lived under Corporatism all my life here in the US, only in the most recent decades it has become all too over-bearing.

Your post throws up crap about the most recent US President. OK, fine. I'm saying that if you can't throw out as much equal crap about all of the recent predecessors, you are being extremely dishonest. I mean, really, give me your favorite White House resident, and let me take my shots.

That was me.  Here's a few examples.

1.  Can recite the Arabic call to prayer:

From the NY Times: "Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it'll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as 'one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.'" Obama also admitted to the Times that as a child in Jakarta he "studied the Koran".

2. Obama says U.S. economy should be built on five pillars…like Islam?

Coincidentally, Islam uses identical terminology: the ‘Five Pillars‘ of Islam are the foundation of Muslim life. Speaking at Saudi-funded Georgetown University, Obama said:

“…a solid foundation for the U.S. economy must be built on five pillars: new rules for Wall Street, new investments in education, renewable energy and health care and new federal budget savings to reduce debt.”

3.  Education Reform also Built on 5 Pillars?

Excerpts from President Obama’s first major speech on the five new pillars of American education. www.ecoliteracy.org/essays/five-new-pillars-education

a.  And this will help free up resources for the first pillar of reforming our schools — investing in early childhood initiatives.”

b.   So that's the first pillar of our education reform agenda. The second, we will end what has become a race to the bottom in our schools and instead spur a race to the top by encouraging better standards and assessments.

c.   Now, to complete our race to the top requires the third pillar of reform — recruiting, preparing, and rewarding outstanding teachers.

d.   Now, that leads me to the fourth part of America's education strategy — promoting innovation and excellence in America's schools.

e.   “Now, the fifth part of America's education strategy is providing every American with a quality higher education…”

4.  Participating in Ramadan while ignoring National Prayer day and turning down the Boy Scouts.

5.  Bowing to the Saudi King.

It was kind of unusual how well he could recite the moslem call to prayer.  I am sort of christian and I  cant for the life of me remember the lord's prayer.

However he implied in his books before he went to that church headed by the black diaspora guy, whatever his name was, that he was agnostic, and also implied but never fully stated that was when he became a christian.

My guess is his pronunciation of the Muslim call to prayer relates to his childhood in Indonesia. His real issue is that a lot of people don't trust or believe what he says.  I suspect that he naively thought a speech in Cairo and a Muslim outreach program (think NASA  http://buzzroom.nasa.gov/multimedia/videos/351/ ) would bridge political and ideological differences.

Rather than being concenred with his religion the concern should be with his foreign policy a la Neville Chamberlain / Jimmy Carter.
