Chairsatan Bernanke - Meet President Paul?
An important advance indicator of leading conservative frontrunners for the presidency was won by Criminal Reserve archnemesis Ron Paul. The Washington Times reports: "Texas Rep. Ron Paul has won the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2012 presidential preference straw poll of 3,742 activists, the chairman of the huge annual gathering of conservative activists announced on Saturday. The Republican lawmaker, long a favorite of the party’s libertarian wing, took 30 percent of the votes cast, followed by Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 23 percent. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has said he will not be a candidate in 2012, and New Mexico former Gov. Gary Johnson tied for third, with 6 percent of the vote. Former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich followed with 5 percent. Tied at 4 percent were Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Trailing them was former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who garnered just 3 percent of the vote." Now since the mere prospect of "President Paul" sends shivers of mortal terror down the spine of every self-respecting member of the criminal Wall Street syndicate, does this mean that in order to guarantee 4 more years of Teleprompting, JPM and GS will send the Russell to 36,000,000, the unemployment rate to -15%, and the labor participation rate to -100%, just to make sure that the peasantry is content enough and chooses 4 more years of unmitigated dollar debasement and what is rapidly becoming a weekly iPad cadence? With the popularity of American Idol plunging to record lows, the mission to brainwash America for 4 more years may be just that more difficult. Add 15% inflation and the vassals may actually stirs for once.
From the Wash Times:
The poll, sponsored this year for the first time by The Washington Times, is seen as one of the earliest tests of grassroots popularity among the party’s dominant conservative wing, and Mr. Paul, who ran unsuccessfully for the nomination in 2008, has traditionally done well in the CPAC voting.
Asked in the survey if they were generally happy with the field of GOP contenders lining up to challenge President Obama next year, 56 percent of CPAC voters said they were generally satisfied with the current crop of candidates, while 43 percent said they were not.
The announcement of the vote came at the end of the third and final day of the CPAC gathering in Washington.
This year’s event attracted a record attendance of over 11,000, and more than 3,700 attendees participated in this year’s straw poll — up more than 1,300 from a year ago.
One thing is certain: the only man in Washington who actually understands what is really going on, and is a firm believer in a return to the gold standard, has about a snowball's chance in a tokamak of taking over the country under the current status quo, where the corruption, the cronyism and the corporatism begin and end with the judicial, the legislative and the executive branches of government.

Republican Ron Paul isn't Black.
Were he, I doubt he'd suck off the Birchers.
You blind son of a bitch. Did You think I was going to let you get away with that?
You know nothing of how to play the game of three level chess. You downwiththebank are not worthy of even licking the shit off the soles of Dr. Ron Paul's shoes that he has to steep in every day on Capitol Hill.
Our Zionist Occupied Government (ZOG) out number the Paul's ten thousand to one. You have to use a wealth of knowledge and well played strategy to out maneuver those sons of bitches in that cesspool they call American Exceptionalism. Makes me fucking vomit at what the Paul's have to put up with. They must be very careful with the words that come out of their mouths lest they be absolutely squared by the main stream media making their chances of ever achieving anything null and void.
I'll give you an example of the the game that must be played;
My words of advice for all US patriots running for major public office; Make sure you do your obligatory Israel Lobby ass licking statements just like Rand Paul and others. You will not get on TV if you don’t.
Example of failure to execute:
“Upset that Republican Carl Paladino disavowed portions of the speeches he made at two Brooklyn synagogues on Sunday, Rabbi Yehuda Levin on Wednesday withdrew his support for the candidate.
“If he continues on this path, not only can’t I vote for him, but I will call on all religious people to write in ‘morality’ or something like that [on the ballot],” said Rabbi Levin in a phone interview.”
It is preferable to say good things about Israel for the ADL and the Israel Lobby when you are a candidate. You can always turn your back on them in your own way after you are elected in to the office and become an America firster. You must also be prepared never to say anything disparaging "in the Jews mind" that would offend them. Work the system doing an end run around them and play it smart.
Got it you fucking ass wipe neophyte cretin?
tl;dr : annoying antisemitic rant?
Whether you like it or not, that's how the system works. I didn't mention that S word. And for your information, 92% of the people who call themselves Jews don't have a drop of Semitic blood in them. They are European Jews converted to Judaism about 700AD. Therefore, logic says antisemitism doesn't apply to them. I can say these things because I am not running for public office.
Read and study;
The Thirteenth Tribe (1976) is a book by Arthur Koestler, which advances the thesis that Ashkenazi Jews are not descended from the historical Israelites.
You say things just to say them
Michael, there is a part of me that wishes what you said weren't true, but it is.
Thank you for your rational thought. I am a Paulbot thru and thru which is not to say he is perfect. There just isn't anyone out there even close. Maybe Christie- but he begs a pass.
It's a trick, they always use it. That trick is getting old and exposed.
IT'S A TRICK, WE ALWAYS USE IT says former ISRAEL MINISTER

Michael
Koestler wrote many great books.
Koestler was a "jew".
Jews are a great people too. They do a lot of great work.
Many of favorite people in the world are Jewish.
LOL
Yeah, that was Paladino's mistake. Good god but you are an idiot.
I believe this is what FOX news is protecting and fearing the most, thus trying to defend military spending.
I predict the US military industrial complex manufacturing racket is going to take a huge hit with peace breaking out all over the world, and as a consequence of the peoples crack down on the police states everywhere, results in the people beating the military swords into plowshares.
I hope you're right Michael. Great posts.
OT or not;
Bolivian President Evo Morales flees town ahead of speech after angry miners throw dynamite in protest at food shortages
"Bolivian President Evo Morales has abruptly abandoned a mining town after protesters angered by rising prices booed him and set off dynamite.
Mr Morales was due to speak on the anniversary of a colonial uprising in Oruro but canceled plans to participate in a march yesterday after demonstrations against rising food prices and shortages.
There were also protests in the Bolivian capital of La Paz, and the cities of Santa Cruz and Cochabamba.
The Bolivian populace are angry over a near doubling in the price of sugar after the government lifted subsidies."

Following the approval of the new Constitution of Bolivia in the January 2009 referendum, new elections were called. Morales won the 2009 general election with a landslide majority, polling 64%. His party, Movement for Socialism, also won a two-thirds majority in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
Fuck 'em.
Bottom line: the Bircher gives the middle finger to the 911 Truth movement and wants to return to the days of lynchings and child labor.
And he's a Republican.
Unlike Cynthia McKinney.
You know, I had to go thru this with crockett a little while ago.
You are wrong about RP and 9/11. I had to dig up links to many of his comments and post them here.
You are making stuff up.
=============================
While were at it, I also disagree with Micheal's otherwise great post about RP's relationship with AIPAC. I do completely agree with Michael's characterization of RP's need to choose his words carefully as he is pretty much alone and the knives are out all around him.
Ron Paul said that the idea that the US government attacked America on 9/11 is "preposterous." That's the real truth, not "truther" truth. In other words, you're the liar.
Ron Paul also said that he wished that the truthers would stop putting words in his mouth becuase "it doesn't do me any good."
Three buildings, two planes, one stand-down order.
alCIAda is make-believe.
STOP LYING DR. BIRCHER.
Bloody good call Michael. Old testament, unreformed zionists know only "eye for eye" and Machiavellian power plays. This has to be met with means that justify the end.
Problem is, he's a octogenarian turd too blinded by Whiteness to acknowledge that alCIAda didn't do 911.
Ron Paul (born August 20, 1935) is a septuagenarian. You can always count on a "truther" to get the facts wrong.
Crockett - RP, like a large number of Americans would like to see a genuine 9/11 investigation.
Dr. Paul wants a new investigation but he has stated numerous times that he does not believe the US government attacked America on 9/11. Ron Paul has clearly stated that 9/11 was "blowback" for US involvement in the Middle East.
Please listen to what the man says and not what you wish he said or what the voices in your head tell you he said.
My bad - got him mixed up with (Mu)Barak.
I am white and I despise rascists. So fuck you troll.
The CIA has done many dirty deeds, but when you claim they did 911, you lose all credibilty.
I think someone has already proposed that you change your moniker to
DOWN WITH WHITEY.
You're not going to change the future by staring in the Rear View Mirror.
You're not going to force Uncle Sam out of Afghanistan until you identify the phony premise on which it's based.
Not that Republican Ron Birch would ever get out of Afghanistan ...
I think, that if elected, Ronny boy will find a piece of lead occupying the space between his eyes and the top of his head. TPTB will not let him get that far.....................
Um,
for those of you who are not active or veterans of the various groups involved in CPAC each year, here's a little secret,
The organizational structures that support the positions of Ron Paul and Mitt ROmney paid the entrance fees for over half the paid attendees this year, and in 2008. ONly paid attendees can vote in the CPAC straw poll.
SO that's one thing libertarians and Mormons have in common, poll stuffing from younger activists who have the time, freedom, and paid means to spend a week walking around a convention center in DC.
Regards,
"SO that's one thing libertarians and Mormons have in common, poll stuffing from younger activists who have the time, freedom, and paid means to spend a week walking around a convention center in DC."
As opposed to George Soros Inc., SEIU & Gaia worshipers of course.
What a country...LOL.
Are you saying a hard shell baptist could not be elected dog catcher in salt lake?
That's exactly what I'm sayin ;-)
But the times they are-a-changin...for you and me it may not make much difference...but "change" is always good right?...LOL.
the mormons declared war on amerika one time. is that thing still on? i forget.
A lot of people have...but oddly...some claim we have no enemies.
Not so sure about that one, but one governor way back when made it legal to kill Mormons in his state. Needless to sat, the Mormons got the message and left but had a somewhat understandable distrust of government for quite a while after that. The Feds also at one point early on sent the army to Utah to "take control". The Mormons were prepared to burn everything to the ground to rather than let the Feds take it. They were some SERIOUS radicals back then. Interesting how virtually all non-conformists eventually get beaten into the mold and absorbed by the main stream.
nmewn
Plus ce change...
you make impotant point about the voting...I'll make sure to be more active then in the coming months...
Who would you vote for?
Ron has been a free thinking guy for years willing to step up to corruption and tellsometruth
False. And you would know its false if you would actually ignore MSM and go to reliable sources. But you believe the MSM...
CFL, the Ron Paul organization, gets CPAC tickets and sells them at discount, thats it. It does not pay nobody a ticked, it does not send them in buses, etc... You can go to ronpaulforums.com and you will see the chip-in's and the donations threads. That is why a lot of people get to go to CPAC, by voluntary donations. And they are usually a bunch of small donations.
Mitt Rommey did send buses with people in the last moment to vote for him.
You must be proud you felt for the MSM lies.
I have never in my life identified myself as conservative but I would vote for him over anyone I have seen in the last 20 years in a heartbeat.
this poll means virtually nothing; paul has won it before
majority of attendees dont participate in the poll
"This year’s event attracted a record attendance of over 11,000, and more than 3,700 attendees participated in this year’s straw poll"
2,108 were trying to get in Michelle Malkin's pants.
1,342 programmed their GPS incorrectly.
346 though CPAC was a convention to pay tribute to a fallen rap star.
Don't you think that the bankers will assassinate anyone that is a threat to their power? It wouldn't be the first time.
Best defense is a good offense.
Trump was right, Ron doesn't stand much of a chance now.
But it's symbolic that people are waking up to the real problem.
I hope Bernankistan is watching and fearing a coup.
Seriously Bernanke doesn't lose sleep over anything Ron Paul or anyone else thinks.
Agreed. Another who doesn't lose much sleep, contrary to popular belief, is Blythe Masters, I doubt she even knows who Turd Ferguson is.
"But it's symbolic that people are waking up to the real problem."
The PTB wouldn't care if you were right awake screaming your lungs out.
The point is not necessary to win. The point of running is to plant the seeds and watch the tree grow as it already is thanks to Ron Paul running in 2008. A 2012 run is just adding water to the tree at this point.
Sounds like "Hope(ium) and Change". Where have we heard that before?
RP doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell as they say, nor does anyone else going up against the bankster rulers of Amerika.
"Revolution" is sweeping the world.
Who knows what might be shaking here in 2012?
Anyway, I'll vote for Ron Paul in the primary again, if given the chance.
That would be the funniest thing yet if Ronnie boy put in a serious showing in the republican primary. As one person said if the future looks like a combination of twilight zone and Kafka then we need more humor!
Fox News may spin itself into the ground!
Like HuffPo?
Yep. Lady got paid, though. All about the Benjamins.
;-)
So, for all her bluster and gnashing of teeth about "evil" corporations...she sold her corporation to another corporation.
Kinda makes all those who expended so much energy & went along for the ride and received nothing in exchange look a little silly in retrospect now...LOL.
When she asked Jesse Ventura to write and then refused his first submission because it dealt with the alCIAda fairy tale, she exposed herself.
She and AOL deserve each other. Throw DailyKos in there, too.
Clear from the get go.
To: Downwithwhitey
Jesse Ventura works for the CIA. Nothing better than a Disinformation Shill.
P.S. To quote the old German Jew foreign minister "Even parnoids (sic) can have enemies"
PPS. Follow the money- who financed AOL's purchase of a dissenting voice ?
When you rob the country of $4 Trillion, $300million is a small price to pay for getting HuffPo to SHUT THE FUCK UP.
Jesse doesn't suck down John Ashcroft's alCIAda fairy tale like Republican Ron Birch.
She does seem to have a history of selling herself.
Past actions are the best predictor of future actions.
A whore is a whore.
Truer words never spoken, until now.

Another great purchase for AOL, like Time Warner.... oooo I needs a hug.
Let's see if attitudes change in the mean time:

"Our work, or Your guns -- you can't have both."
Ron Paul would better serve humanity if he was merely able to keep being a thorn in the status quo.
If he were president, he would fail miserably in trying to reform the system.
Better to let it all crash and hope his ideas survive. That is the only way forward.
Look around you. Do you actually see many who are capable of even thinking? Nope. Most are conditioned to make the best choice given to them, and not to think about what is best, or if what is best is even up for decision. As we all know, what is best for us will never be left for us to decide.
To pretend that he can effect any kind of change within this system is foolhardy.
pods
Better to let it all crash and hope his ideas survive.
Perhaps his timing couldn't be better?
Yes, that might be true, I hope. As much as I respect the man, it is his ideas that should be spoken of, and it is his ideas I speak of.
We in amerika spend too much energy in the horse race of politics. There is no real discussion. Nothing of real importance. Just another sport.
We comment about the drapes while the house is on fire. We have our left-right dogmatic arguments then return to our circus box and swill down some cheap intoxicant to get us to sleep at night.
I really hope that in this upcoming turmoil, we really can speak about the things that currently do not garner attention. Real politics. Ask the tough questions that never get asked. My guess is that we will never regain real freedom again though. Too much indoctrination. Too many slaves of mind.
pods
the problem is 50% of the populace, the insane ones, keep endorsing the sewer system in Washington. These insane voters keeps the myth alive it is a "democratically elected Govt". Only when the 50% who are sane and don't vote because they know it changes nothing get together do we have a REAL fight over democracy.
We need a petition for the sane people, a vote AGAINST this conservative/socialist 2 party ponzi scheme. That usurps the ponzi scheme completely. Otherwise we're left with guys like Ron Paul who stand no chance of beating the system, it's bent, loaded so real democracy can't possibly win because you need tens of millions of Dollars from the GOP/Dem parasites (sponsors) to afford running for election
A petition for 'No Govt' puts a spanner in their ponzi machine, it unravels their public mandate and any legitimacy they have
All you have to do is read the polls to see the US is doomed.
Even the majority of Tea Party folks think we should "spend more" on Education.
They deserve their fate.
Most of those that claim to be in the tea party are clueless...they realize that the system is FUBAR but they know little or nothing of history or how an economy works...so they want 'change' but don't know what would represent a change for the better. Their ignorance reduces them to sound bites and sloganeering. Consequently, they will become more tools of nefarious azz hats.
Too bad.
The Tea Party was hijacked by TPTB as soon as it looked like a threat. Political hacks ran in front of the parade and turned it in the direction they wanted.
"The Tea Party was hijacked by TPTB as soon as it looked like a threat. Political hacks ran in front of the parade and turned it in the direction they wanted."
>>>>>>>.........
fine now prove it.
as one who has contact with tea party people in my state and was at the protests in DC..I can say most are fed up..as in FED. most want less gov debt and spending..those rino's and closet elite who try to take the lead have money to get into the MSM..but they cannot change the basic desire of most in the tea party for less gov..congress tea party members are hold out for big cuts in spending explain that.
Follow the money. The Koch Brothers and Richard Mellon Scaife have bankrolled the lemmings from the start.
Rodent
Write the right question in a poll and you will always get the "right" answer.
Polls are another tool of manipulation.
Well if he became president, he would be president, not a dictator and we all know what that means. Gridlock????
Slammin on the brakes ain't so bad if your headin for a cliff.
you know we are going over. who are we kidding?
We??? ;-)
On come on now. You aren't going survivalist on me at this late stage are you? we are all in this together, aren't we? :)
LOL..."we" all set our priorities in life...mine have never changed ;-)
The "we" in my area probably does not include you -- bring something to contribute to "our" survival, or keep going.
You notice how we amerikans have developed this lone wolf independent state (within ourselves) type of attitude? This attitude is prevelant throughtout our culture now. Do you know why? I believe there is a reason. It is the same reason why the front porch disappeared so long ago and now we don't even know our own neighbors that well. We isolate ourselves from others and call it privacy. Now this has good points and it has bad points. In any struggle for the hearts and minds of the amerikan people, any appeal to tribal instincts is lost. Those instincts must be regained. In order to fight a tribe, a people must also be a tribe and move as a tribe, as they do. They are few and we are many, yet we are losing. Why is that? Money is power and power is money, there can be no doubt. But to top it off, we have lost something that was intrinsic in every American not long after this country was founded. We must try and find that something we have lost, if it can be found, before it is too late. Someone left a post on the forum a few weeks ago saying it was already too late. They may be right. Egyptians stuck together and caused a government to tumble. They are still in the square right now, refusing to leave until the military turns over the government to civilians that they want to be leaders etc. The key word here is Egytians. There are only Egytians in Egypt and it appears that many of them are moving as one. This was necessary there. Can this happen here? I don't know now. We have infiltrated with so many non white racial types etc and this was done on purpose. This nation was founded on white western european cultures and yes the black people were brought here against their will , so they too have a stake in it , of course. But now we look out on a rainbow of colors , differing peoples with differing viewpoints and differing needs and wants. Now the leaders of Europe are saying diversity and multiculturalism do not work, as if on que for the race war that they secretly want to start so the idiots will start fighting each other instead of their real enemies. It is nice of these leaders to say the obvious after all this time and all of the damage has been done to white Europe. The same thing has happened here of course with the same ramifications and the same result. We have forty million illegal mexican aliens here now and their country is awash in corruption as is ours. There are no jobs for them now. So we wait for the time when they come and they will come for you see, they have been told that this land is their land and it was stolen from them. I think they have a point on that issue but what can be really done about it, since it happened so long ago. The revolution was started in Egypt in order to break up Egypt, as time will tell on this one. The Israelis think the land up to the Nile River is their land and they think their god promised it to them and they want it. So the intrigue begins. I think many Egyptians have seen this. The internet is alive and well in Egypt. Many of them are schooled and educated and can read. I say that because we too, this country, is scheduled for balkanization and dismemberment, mostly along racial lines probably. How can it be anything else? So , in that day, many will relearn the things that they have forgotten long ago, tribalism and collective thought processes, not because they want to, but because they have to.
You have to destroy community and solidarity to prevent the "little people" from achieving anything productive through their efforts.
We can build our own houses and raise our own food, but that's bad for certain interests, and those interests wield a disproportionate share of political/legal power.
realistically speaking, in any new amerika, do you think that the order of the day will be enclaves and walled communities containing like minded peoples trying to survive? So we see that such a scenerio is quite possible and is something the new world order would love here. Because lone wolves are easy prey and when we organize as the enemy does, only then will success happen, money or no money, unless and that is a big if, if somehow food and water opportunities are taken away from us somehow someway, and that too is quite possible and quite probable. So in the final determination , as much as I wish we would do what the Egytians are doing, I simply cannot see any combined and coordinated efforts made here on such a magnitude. I wish I was wrong. Maybe I was a fool hoping for something else to happen but it appears that this will not be the case. I was telling myself, that surely the American people are going to do something about all of the bad things that are happening and not put up with it. Maybe I was using my common sense, based upon years of study about many things, and attempting to transpose that viewpoint and mindset on a people that are lost in so many ways and blind in so many ways and a people who simply do not care. That my friends was my bad. Those who have become awake, my hats off to you. You made it through. For those who do not really know what is going on, perhaps you will never really know, no matter what anyone tells you. I am now resigned to this aspect of truth. This willful ignorance and acceptance of the things that are happening in this country and the fact that so many do not even lift a finger against it, tells me, that maybe there is no hope here, not in this world anyway. So we must fall back to the second line of defense. That being the scenerio I outlined above, that of walled communities , filled with people who are trying to survive and attempting to defend themselves from the mob. Oh if the founding fathers could come back to life , as if for a few minutes, what would they say to us? Perhaps a hearty I told you so, would be in order. We never listen and we never learn from our own history.
If you live in a mudshack, raise chickens in your backyard, and bathe in the river, you are a VERY long way from needing (or benefiting from) a "walled community."
Everyone wants to worry about government control, but there are two completely contradictory trends underway right now: increased bureaucracy and encroaching claims of state power vs. bankruptcy and collapse of state administration.
So relax and have a lemonade. The Feds in DC can make whatever laws they want and proclaim themselves kings of your soul, but when they can't pay the jackboots to come enforce these whims, they have ceased to be relevant. Empires collapse because they can no longer maintain their own expensive overheads. This is where we are today.
We all live in the eddy of these two oppositional tides.
agreed. its like Kurt Vonnegut said one time, I am a man without a country even though I live in this one, it is not mine or does not represent me or my values and nothing will ever change this nor will anything ever improve.
Gridlock might slow our decline somewhat. But it would really do nothing to turn our country toward individual liberty.
It would merely be said that his ideas were the problem. In today's politics people are looking for a solution to their problems. But their problems are caused by the system which they are looking for solutions. There is no solution within this system that can solve our mathematical problem with debt money. Either solution (austerity or printing) posed in another article here would benefit the system. Austerity would merely transfer more real wealth to the ruling class through default. Printing will allow the moneyed class to purchase more real assets before the inflationary effects of printing are felt.
A while back I used to read the posts by mako. First with disbelief, then curiosity overtook me. I thought long and hard about it. And he/she was absolutely correct. There is no solution. No idea inside this system will solve the simple problem of when debt is created, you are beholden on another to create debt with which to pay your interest. If that does not happen, if expansion is halted, you will default, and any real property will be repossessed.
The system must be taken down. Then we have a chance to start anew.
pods
Very well said Pods.
"if expansion is halted, you will default, and any real property will be repossessed"
In this environment it is preferable to have a home that is 100% paid off.
Well, a corn picker is more than likely NOT a good first choice for getting your nails polished! :>D
The system must be taken down. Then we have a chance to start anew.
I agree, but I still think Rep. Paul would make a great president, the sooner the better.
I mean why did Hosni delay the inevitable so long? So he could max out his looting. Time to stop the looting.
I think someone who genuinely cared for the country could stop or slow the destruction. You know, damage control.
I have to agree with Trump that Paul cannot win an election. If he did, however, I think there would be unintended consequences. To begin with, it's too late to prevent the system from going over the cliff--change doesn't happen that fast. Even a dictator wouldn't be able to pull it off.
But I could see some very serious unintended consequences. When the wheels fall off and the masses are actually hungry, Paul's position on welfare would put him squarely in the crosshairs of mass rage. At that point, he's the guy who would likely preside over a classic socialist revolution.
Be careful what you wish for.
Default indeed. I'm seeing Trump as a very attractive Presidential Candidate: Now there's a guy who knows about bankruptcy.
I heard an interview with Trump re: running for prez. I liked some of what he had to say but he's way out there about heavy-duty protectionism, and going to war with anyone who doesn't play by our rules. I've had enough of that.
I need to hear more from him--protectionism has its place, I'm afraid. It may be a dirty word, but it's the only way (short of miraculous technical advances and laws heavily punishing offshoring of jobs) to revive the working class.
Of course, war mongering would screw if all up. Unfortunately, that would probably play well to alot of people.
I view protectionism as a reaction to bad policy (tax structure, regulatory restrictions, "Free Trade" agreements, etc.) that has plenty of unintended consequences. Instead of "piling on" with more controls, the policies themselves need to be evaluated/eliminated.
Here's a good read on how I view it:
http://fee.org/library/books/economics-in-one-lesson/#0.1_L12
Agree on the war mongering. A whole lot of people still believe in empire. :(
I agree with Mako. There is no answer within the realm of possibilities that we have seen so far. The system is too corrupt and too out of control now, to be fixed. We have foxes in charge of the hen house. We have corruption in the courts, in the congress and in finance on wall street. Would you agree to , oh say about two years of anarchy while we do some sorting?
Lots of things have been done by executive order that could be undone in an instant.
"Commander in Chief" is a much more powerful role than modern presidents seem to think. They abuse that power by participating in military adventurism. Paul would use that power to withdraw troops stationed around the world, causing expenditures to fall by some 1.5 trillion or so per year (including Iraq and Afghanistan). That would likely be enough to stop us from going over the cliff, if such a thing is possible. NO-ONE else would do that. They would rather turn old ladies out into the street than stop murdering brown people and occupying 90% of the planet.
Once that task is done, cutting the size and scope of government is possible. Once people see that the only repercussions of such actions are positive, they are likely to be much more open to adopting his other policies.
Pull back the military and take back the currency (d/c the Fed) and I can't see any pressing reason to make any more cuts.
Really. Look at the math.
Unfortunately, though, his values would require still turning old ladies and the poor into the streets as a matter of "morality."
Do me a favor and refrain from making shit up. He has specifically said that if elected he would end entitlement programs GRADUALLY. No-one will be turned into the street.
You might as well claim that he would abandon any troops we have overseas.
Sorry, tm. Nuance. I'm obviously not intimately informed about Paul and perhaps that is further encouraged by my opinion that he is dangerously naive about the wonders of "free enterprise." But I don't want to misrepresent, much less malign the man.
Thanks for the correction.
Free enterprise is simply an aspect of human freedom. Only the individual is sovereign. No one has a right to interfere with the person or property of another individual. One may defend oneself and property in proportion to any threat made against them.
Some people want to exercise power and force others to do things they would not otherwise do supposedly for the victim's own good. Such actions are necessarily tyrannical. To stand against the sovereignty of the individual is to stand against human freedom.
Civilization is based on a willingness to agree to disagree with one's neighbors. One can not interfere with another's person or property without engaging in an uncivilized, criminal act.
The individual is "supreme". Problem is that in such a "virtuous" system power becomes concentrated. The state is required to protect most from a few. The system becomes complicated. And so on. And it all has to get paid for.
You sound like you're reciting the tenants of a religion. Your version of a heaven on earth. Good luck--I doubt you'll ever see it here. Most people don't feel like you and never will.
Call it criminal if it makes you feel better.
The state is required to protect most from a few. The system becomes complicated. And so on....You sound like you're reciting the tenants of a religion. Your version of a heaven on earth.
You suggest that mankind is flawed and must have absolute masters to oversee our actions and you call me religious? The chief priests sure have pulled the wool over your eyes. Enjoy your servitude to the higher power that alone makes your life worth living. I've given up on idol worship, thank you very much.

The only one devious enough to lead this country is Trump. He knows what his slimey NewYork "bankers" do.
But that would be a leap of faith, something like Grope and Mange....
Oh... you guys thought I said Hope and Change. No wonder everyones mad at me.
/sarc off/
The only pole that matters is the one the PTB stick up your ass.
Speaking of poles, looks like Allen West is shining it up real good for Benjamin Netanyahu. He went over to Israel not long after winning the election as a tea party candidate in West Palm Beach, and the Likudniks gave him some gold plated knee pads to wear at appropriate times while he does the appropriate thing that only a israeli aipac ass kisser and cob slobber like west can do.
Careful, he'll shove your face in the sand and fire a 9mm next to your head to get your attention.
The result of which is the saving of lives of those in his charge...this should be of no consequence in consideration of the act itself ;-)
did he learn how to do that in iraq?
by the way, 9mm would hurt, but please tell him to not fire that damn kel tec PLR 16 by my ear.
Nope...pretty sure it was a decision thing instead of a learned thing...could have been the moon, it wouldn't have mattered...it was results orientated, which is what he drew his pay for.
Kel tec PLR 16 seems like a bulky sidearm for an officer...why not an Uzi in keeping with your predisposition to him? ;-)
When you were talking about firing something by someone's ear, I thought of that bad ass, kel tec, loudest damn thing i ever fired up until now. :)
For those who have no idea what you are talking about;
Firing Kel-Tec PLR-16 5.56x45mm Pistol

Yeah, he got run out of the Army for doing the right thing.
Sign of the times.
I've seen his military type before. They are totally brainwashed in alciada just wants to kill you and they are everywhere.
Ummm...he was right, he had the right guy.
The ambush was stopped.
Its the same old story. Stupid Americans equate military experience with being a good person. This is not always necessarily the case. He should be recalled immediately.
He knew when he did it, that it was the end of his career...the lives in his charge were more important to him.
He was charged, fined, did not appeal through CAAF and resigned.
I will not stand by and see good men ripped open...just sayin.
I agree, West is a good man overall.
"I agree, West is a good man overall."
I believe so...actions speak louder than words.
Looks like my petulant little troll went on a junk fest through here...trying to make it appear that I was junking those I disagree with...just stating the obvious for those who never met my little troll...LOL.
I disagree. West is a traitor and I know you know where I am coming from on this. He has been too long in the service of the beast and when he got out, he ran on the tea party ticket, a ticket which supposely was to be America first , whatever that really means, but as we all know, the tea party had since its inception been heavily infiltrated. I ask you sir. Why would this man, a week after the election is over take a trip to Israhole of all places? Surely we can surmise the reason for this. That in and of itself would tell any wise man ,that he is bought and paid for by my enemies. So he acted like a thug in Iraq, bothering some poor Iraqi man whose only crime was that he dared to want the jewish mercenary amerikan army out of his beloved country, which is his right, of course. So now this former army lifer, who resigned in what could be called in some quarters disgrace, all of a sudden gets elected to congress. so we have a black man getting elected to congress from a district that has more jews in it per capita , per se, than almost any place in amerika except maybe new york and what does this lacky do? He bows the knee and kisses the ring of the Likudniks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cijuUceT_ow
This man makes me ill and he is what is wrong with this country. We have had too many of these types of men run for office and the tea party was supposed to be about real change and the only time real change will occur is and when the jewish problem is addressed. There I said it. No sugar coating it. That is the way it is. It is a tribal problem . It is our problem. As former DePaul University professor Norman Finkelstein has stated on numerous occasions, unless we get these American jews out of our politics, it will be the end of us yet. For this of course he was fired from his job. Oh well. For those who have paid the ultimate price, what can be said. There are some. To them I say , peace be to you and peace upon you. But to those who wish to destroy me I say, there will be no surrender by this writer. That is one of the major differences between a man like me and a man like Allen West. He sold out his country, no matter that he fought in wars based upon lies. He was not drafted for that. He volunteered. He was part of the problem then and now he is part of the problem now. But the jews love him because he supports Israhole, no matter that it is located on stolen land, stolen from a people , who according to Israeli professor, Shlomo Sand , are a thousand times more jewish than he ever thought about being, but let's not split hairs here shall we. So West plays the Israhole tune and all is well in west palm beach. What else is new in this country? What else?
Those people in that audience wanted to hear one thing and one thing only. West gave it to them lock, stock, and barrel.
I would take every penny those people would throw at me too. I may be stupid, but I'm not crazy.
I wonder how much those people gave him for his next campaign?
The Art of War.
The Generals who ran him out will now call him Sir.
I hope he holds a grudge.
I'm sure he has a long memory...but he also knew it was something out of bounds and knew it would be reported & prosecuted, his juniors did the right thing, he must have known they would from being around them, serving with them.
I think he felt he had to make a choice larger than himself...the winners & losers are pretty clear here.
For myself, I think he gained more than he lost...an enemy ambush was foiled, his troops lives were saved (possibly his own)...and military justice did what it is supposed to do...he moved on with his life.
I don't know where we find these people but I'm glad we still produce them.
He is a good fascist fighting the good fight. If it wasn't for these brave men and women fighting the war on terror, the U.S. and Iraq would be shittier places than they were in the post 9/11 world.
Only on ZH would you find a reference to "one of several types of magnetic confinement devices, and is one of the most-researched candidates for producing controlled thermonuclear fusion power. Magnetic fields are used for confinement since no solid material could withstand the extremely high temperature of the plasma." Kudos, yet again.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokamak
I did some work in the late 70's on the Princeton Tokamak. After trials I understand that it produced more power than the power input only once. (1.01) I am not sure what's doing now. I believe that it's not doing too well.
ITER is doing well technically (goal of Q=10), but progress is slow due to bureaucracy of the many nations involved in the project.
10 years from now...
no now...
no now...
Tokamaks, stellerators, and that Laser implosion device in Livermore all have one thing in common: Complexity. Can you imagine trying to mass produce any of them?
I'm sure the same arguments were made about airplanes, but we wouldn't need nearly as many reactors.
Think about how many millions of chips we fab with hundreds of millions of transistors at 65nm or smaller.
It's doable.
ron paul is a crazy old fart with some really strange ideas.
he would be a dramatic improvement over what we're suffering through now, and have for the last thirty years.
On ZeroHedge, he's like the Dos Equis guy:
"He only accepts campaign donations in bullion ..."
Who cares that he doesn't care how profit is made, because he'll put 7-year-olds back to work!
ONWARD to child labor!
ONWARD to a nation without libraries!
No one is like the Dos Equis guy: Firstly, think of the meaning:
X=10 in Latin, as most zerohedgers know.
A ten (10) = a babe
Now notice that he always appears with two babes, (one on his left and one on his right.)
Thus, he is next to two tens or two X's = Dos Equis (en Castellano)
Oracle...
Whoa, Whoa. Slow down... Downwithwhitey needs to get his shoes and socks off, now that you are past X.
And a one, and a two... This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home...
I think I'll have a beer now... Dang I quit drinking....
i bet tyler never has drank any dos equis.
Dos equis, Tsing Tao, Red hook, Fat tire, Toothsheaf stout -- it's ALL good!
Love Ron and would love to see him run. Of course he wouldn't win. The Americans are in love with their abuser. The abused always cling to the abuser for security and support. But it might wake a few more of the cattle up which will be nice for after the dollar dies and the real 'fun' beings.
And if I'm wrong and Americans are smarter then I give us credit for, then I imagine it will be like a scene out of the Bourne Identity. CIA hit teams from all over the world being activated and hitting the campaign trail. And while Ron is in good shape for an old guy don't think he is going to go all Jason Bourne on assassins...
@Shameful
RP doesn't have to win. We're getting closer and closer to multi-party political system. If RP only polled 18 to 20 percent, he'd make a big dent and pave the way for new anti-establishment ideas. As a hedgie from Bain Capital, Romney has huge liabilities as a candidate. Sarah Palin is roundly ridiculed by the vast majority of people. Newt Gingrich is a policy wonk weirdo. Obama will be roundly hated in another year. RP's got MY vote, fuck everybody else.
Do you really think there is a snowball's chance in hell that the system will be in place in 2016? Imagine the money printing from Benny and the Ink Jets by then. The system is broken and cannot be fixed. It will simply get more wild and insane till it either collapses or becomes a system that would make Stalin green with envy. Voting will fix nothing. Hell honestly I hope Palin gets the nod and Barry gets another term. I'm hoping for enough pent up anger that the union will just shred itself apart when the dollar system breaks. A new set of legs might be able to rally a hard line police state.
@Shameful
I don't know. Never thought S&P would double in 2 years during an economic depression. the future is difficult to predict accurately.
Yep. All Ponzi's fail eventually.
I'm always going to hope for the best (limited government, low taxes, free markets, free speech, freedom of speech, etc.), but prepare for the worst. I would never *hope* for a police state.
I know that Iceland is a small country. But they kicked the bankers out and defaulted. Iceland is now the fastest growing economy in the world out of the ashes.
There is no way (numbers don't lie) the US can recover in a conventional way. It must be destroyed first. If so, only debt free real estate with a clear title, PM's and perhaps famous art collections will preserve wealth.
Totally agree there can be no recover till we default. However look at how dependent Americans are on the system, the dole that the Fed kicks out. And I'm not talking just people getting a SS or unemployment check, but all those working for a gov agency or a company that exists because of the gov contracts/handouts. They won't willingly turn off the machine so long as their life support is on it. Only time things can chance it when it melts down on it's own.
It's not only a problem with the bankers, or the lackey politicians serving the oligarchs, but also a problem in the mass man of America.
The States also are dependent on the Federal Government for a lot of their operating capital. Mikla was taking the position that with the loss of federal financial leverage we will see a dividing of the states. I think this is plausible. But hard to visualise.
It goes to bureaucrat self survival. If the Fed cuts the states off but still exacts tribute from the states, the states will have an incentive to hold the money back. After all the state govs don't like austerity, especially if they see a flood of cash leaving to go to a different bureaucracy. Perversely the state bureaucracy's desire to survive could save us from the madness of the Fed bureaucracy.
You're probably right, and I still fear how horrific it will be when the meltdown comes. But I still think it would be better to turn off the machine sooner rather than later.
Probably, but it is debatable. How many more people are prepared for what will come then in 08? How many more will prepare as the Sword of Damocles hangs over us? Some will gain, others lose. Not only the big bankers but the middle class remnant trying to get ready for when the levy breaks. If it's as wild as I expect Dollar death would be then millions will die in the upheaval. Massive spike in prices will make desperate people do desperate things, in tightly confined armed cities.
But it's not our choice. Pulling the plug is in the hands of the power brokers. Now is not the time, but will happen in a few years. I'm guessing before 2017 at the latest, with a gut feeling for 2013 for the big breakdown. But then it's just a guess based on what I see, I have no special knowledge.
All modern societies accumulate a population of the utterly useless over time.
If the plan is to allow them to die from lack of planning, I can't say I am opposed.
Think of it as worming your dog. Do you really have compassion for the worms?
From what I'm seeing, more people are preparing for the inevitable. Here's a thought I've had recently: In 2008, a lot of people (myself included) believed that a huge direct-to-the-people stimulus would have been the best course of action. Something like $10,000 per person ($3 T). I was told this was the nuclear option and could always be used later.
Anyway, I think people's perceptions have really changed in the last three years, and such a stimulus today would have a very different effect. In 2008, a family of four receiving forty grand would have paid down credit card debt if they had it, bought a car if they didn't, or used the money for a down payment on a home, invested it or bought In other words, they would have done all the things the government wanted. We'd have much lower unemployment, fewer bankruptcies, and although we'd still probably be looking at record foreclosures, we'd have a better housing market.
Now that we've spent three years floundering, a nuclear option stimulus would have a very different impact. People would buy guns, ammo, food, gold and other resources. It would go straight to inflation and it wouldn't help employment one bit.
Mark, I think your thought on the direct-to-the-people stimulus comparison from then and now is well placed.
Long before Nov 2012, the roll-over of old debt and sale of new debt will tell the tale.
Every government dollar paid out is taxed, borrowed or printed. Now borrowing has become printing.
Unemployed people pay no taxes, they consume taxes. Government Propaganda can claim there is 0% unemployment; it doesn't change the fact that the economy is sliding into the abyss.
This year will be The Wall. 2012 will be picking up the pieces.
When you have a president tell the American people "you have to work for a living"
When this nation returns to earning a living by adding value, not inflating assets, then and only then will the madness have stopped.
Why wouldn't the market go to the moon? Happens in other banana republics while they print. With mass debasement expressing the market in fiat terms is useless.
It's a matter of degrees. The best option for the masses is a time of chaos and dissolution, and it wold be extremely chaotic. The alternative is a police state that will orderly exterminate those the gov deems "undesirable". However with the pathological need for Americans to have security and their slave like worship of the state I expect a police state. Undesirables will be shipped to work camps to "help rebuild America". I allow myself the glimmer of hope that the chaos and rage will be enough for a split, but that is sadly far from guaranteed. We have a better chance to duck the police state if we don't change horses. The election system allows the same system to remain in power but acts as an emotional steam valve for the masses. Trust me, if it's not Paul on the Rep ticket you want Barry for a second term. His unpopularity will be our only hope to avoid the worst outcome.
We have more time then some guess and less time then others. I figure this game has legs till late 2012, or 2013 at the earliest before they run out of tricks. Might be able to drag it out if can blow up other nations first so it can go longer then we expect. Still a lot of looting to be done before the support pillars are collapsed. Look for a 401k pillage before they let the system go. But the dollar will not exist in it's current form in 2016, meaning the US will not exist in it's current form in 2016.
@Shameful
These aren't mutually exclusive options, they are various stages of a failed society. You get the choas/anarchy, then you get the police state. You are correct that we are currently heading for a societal crack-up. I differ with your line of thinking in that I believe that we could still avoid it. We could save our currency and our country if we would repudiate the bankers and their debt. That's the answer. Why not try to achieve that outcome without all of the sturm and drang?
