CME Hikes Silver Initial And Maintenance Margins By 9%
The world's most telegraphed call comes and goes, however since it has been priced in about 7 times already, has absolutely no impact on the price of silver. And yes, we were off by about 8 hours. Also, for those who observed this is the third margin hike in as many months (previously here and here) with neither doing anything at all to halt the price surge, you are absolutely correct.

Slowly but surely leaving the markets into the hands of the few, the proud, the greedy banksters.
Blood in the water. Listen to the CME squeal. A little tenderizin', and down it goes...
If I had doubts silver was going over 50, they are gone now.
If Turd is correct that this week silver hits $45, it will be shopping season!
Please let there be a juicy dip tomorrow, give me $45 baby!
Honestly, it is really starting to freak me out that there are less and less people like you hoping for dips. That really tells me that there are a lot of speculators in the paper game and the more predictable buying opportunities are fewer and farer in between.
As a buyer of physical, I honestly would love to see a major correction. I know what the end game is and it doesn't involve "being in the money" at contract expiration.
Your son is posting on his IPhone from inside a locker that he loves SLV, and soon as someone lets him out hes gonna buy some.
thank you for your concern but it is a fictional portfolio for business class. he doesn't make enough money mowing lawns in the summer to actually invest anything.
how much does he charge for yard work?
now priced in. move along, nothing to see here...
You should really make him wear a helmet when he rides his motorcycle at Lake Perris.
There's no good reason not to be in the paper game for now. It's easy pickins and clearly months before there is any danger of the paper silver game being up. The more resources the people that understand this thing can pull in now, the more we'll be able to make sure everyone understands why the USD is disappearing.
i think you will be lucky. at least right now. the pressure is on. the game is on.
Had a feeling this morning's price action was a test run. Lightened up positions mid-afternoon for tomorrow's silver sale. Thank you CME!
go all in and sell it short...that is if you believe it...
Nope. Don't know for sure what will happen. Just feel that the Bad Guys have lined up this margin move with another bear attack tommorrow for greatest effect. Would never short. Just want to get a better basis.
Market timing has worked about 60% of the time for me during the run from $20 an ounce on a dollar cost average basis. Slightly better than buy and hold during the period. Gives me something to fiddle with, and confident in the knowledge that the long term PM trend has my back.
We're gonna need a bigger boat.
let's accept that for the sake of argument.
1. They still need counterparties besides each other.
2. They still need someone, somewhere working on something productive. The day the workers threaten a general strike it's over.
It's remarkable how many vampire analogies one could use here.
Gold margin hikes tomorrow. Platinum on Wednesday. Copper on Thursday.... Keep em coming, my friends at CME.
Troll much?
(That was, needless to say, a rhetorical question.)
Funny.
They can keep hiking the margin or padlocking the door, but eventually the only qualified buyer standing will be China, with $3 trillion cash in hand - standing for delivery.
To the moon.
In a fucking hurry.
On rocket skates!
What a surprise.

When do they begin confiscating all our Gold?
They will try to do so by raising the price--buying gold off of the open market with printed money.
This will be successful for a few minutes, then gold will never trade in dollars again.
they'll have to pry it from my kung fu grip to get my gold stash from me, there's no way. we all know their printed money is worthless.
www.forecastfortomorrow.com
1) They will have to come to Spain.
2) They will have to find it.
3) They will have t take it from me.
That's when.
very soon.
I will gladly hold on to it for you so the boogeymen won't get it.
I'm thinking of buying a few handfuls of those "Copy" coins selling on ebay. Then, when the confiscation order is issued, I can tell the authorities OMG! They guy I bought them from down the alley said they were real!
You better hide your gold/silver....hard!
foodsaver machine and a shovel works well. I heard it from a friend.
Plastic drain pipe, end caps, pipe cement, and a descant bag.
In the country, find a in use outhouse, lower it in. Let the mfers dig around in the corn to get it out. Pieces of shit for real lol.
Actually, I prefer to throw some coins on the lawn. Works like deer feed. Keeps my .308 eye sharp. :o
Why would they confiscate our gold? The US is not on the gold standard and therefore can inflate without the inconvience of having to redeem paper for gold. Is there rumor of going back onto it?
just don't use it as money like the guy in Florida. Get PERMISSION first. In short "today i will pay taxes with pennies" because "sometimes i cry, too."
wheres the dip?
Which dip? The CFTC has five of them.
But those are already bought.
You have to admit she got solidly spanked while trying to penetrate $50. Not even a challenge. Just an attempt to touch it and retreat. Real demand would have broke through with conviction. Or at least had multiple attempts.
Time to sell?
WGAS about margin? I thought all the ZHeeple were physical playas?
You are a tosser.
Just stating the obvious. But maybe that is what scares you.
Nah. It just shows you're clueless. Many like you have come and gone.. and others like Math Man keep showing ZHers that ignorance exponentially grows with time..
Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?
All you little shits think you're special because I single you out for beratement. You're not. You are just fucking stupid.
Christ, it's like you're seven, and have never heard of "even number resistance". Much less OpEx tomorrow.
Fucking retard.
It's sad to have to kick puppies, but when the puppies have rabies and continue to try to bite, I feel very, very little sympathy for them.

Funny that you registered the day after one of our other new trolls.
Sorry, you are too weak to even use the same username. Enjoy your poverty.

do you have any physical to sell at spot? i am sure someone around here will be more than happy to take it off of your hands?
Why not just go to kitco.com?
You show many poorly planned websites who fail to manage inventory levels. Why no report on a few, well funded, always selling metal stores?

Actually I think I may sell enough so I can have risk free profits and move the initial capital into some highly enriching uranium plays.
What about you? It's still metal so it shouldn't offend your delicate sensibilities.

"move the initial capital into some highly enriching uranium plays."
LOL.
I remember reading the same thing as it touched $36, bounced down, back up, then down, then sideways..... Shit, I wish I bought more at $36.
$50 is nothing. Just a psychological barrier. The same will happen at $100 too, then at $200 and so on until the great theft through inflation is complete.
I loaded at 36 also, hammered the bears hard on calls right in there and sold. Bought P.M's hard at 36 when everyone was saying I was stupid. lol. We have been hammering them since 28 in my group.
Staying long horses, cattle, food, garden, water, solar, ammo, guns, blonde and PM>
Today's volume on in slv was wild, will be able to load more PM after the carry over from friday's call's. Getting a little wild right in here though, think I might watch till after the bernaked talk's.
How does it feel JP morgue to know you are buying us sheeple our PM? LMFAO
Boooyaah bankster's bitchezz.
LOL, and 2 months ago all the silver sourpusses said $30 just wouldnt happen.
Expecting this to limit the upside of silver, at this point at least, is like pissing in the ocean and expecting coastal cities to be wiped out by the resultant flood.
The market response has been and will be a great indicator of underlying supply\demand.
Good call, I have to imagine this is the first of a series of them since the front running was more intense than the last few.
Let me guess: "Larry Kudlow has no comment." And "just where are you Gary Gensler?"
ZH used to be so awesome. But now, they're off by 8 hours at a time. How the hell is a day trader supposed to be able to trade anything, when Zh is off by 8 whol frikkin hours!
At least they're men enough to admit it. Gotta give 'em that.
ZH wasnt off...they called it 8 hours ago. The CME just released the info re: margin hike.
ZH was saying all last week the Margin hike was coming.
Go Greenies
Apparently the CME didn't read the memo from their masters at JPM correctly. It read "90%" not "9%"....
ante up! tyler! you in? adasmos, stf up and ante! Homey--your deal!
Long live Zerohedge!
Man, the chutzpa...Zach Karabelle trying to ring the bell on metals commenting that he is taking profits because he has done so well in the PM momentum trade. Excuse me, have any of you fellows ever heardthat moron say anything that is not one form or another of gold/silver bug bashing? Now he claims he is a trading extraordinaire in the group.
The BlowHorn [CNBC] does nothing but lie, and pathologically so. And so Karabelle selling his silver must mean buy...like no other buy signal, as clearly he is talking about his short sale and not his long liquidation.
Do these folks assume we all have Alzheimer's?
Hmm, maybe Karabelle is Robotrader. Same style....bash something for months then claim you just rode it up but are now selling. Man, the chutzpah! No doubt he meant he is covering his short.
They clearly do think we're all retards, or just hoping everyone is really that dumb because thats just how much trouble theyre really in. Free whiskey, as much as you want!
no impact on the price of silver! Hahaha! i'd say we've got at least a reverse triple-lindy!
How do you stop speculation?
Lower barriers to entry? No, you ra-ra-ra-riase them. Less speculation means more risk for those exposed.
i was just joking that when they raise the vig, the price goes straight up, like, "parabolic"...
but, i have no problem with speculators, gamblers, arbitrageurs, options strategists, spreads, hedges, whatever. just don't confuse it with cash, carry, no counterparties.
i advocate long US gold & silver coins. and cash, supplies, etc. i don't consider that exposed, but if you do, fair enuf.
"Less speculation means more risk for those exposed."
So when they lo-lo-lowered barriers to entry in the housing and internet bubbles... would that mean MORE speculation = LESS risk for those exposed?
Wait... something just isn't making sense. Oh yeah, its your post.
It was the initial purpose of the futures markets to lower the risk to those exposed (physical owners).
More speculators = lower risk for hedgers. The topic is CME and Silver margins implying futures exposure.
Oh, it's 7:15pm est and your still in school. Run along now, home to mummy.
yeah right, thanks... I must have thought this was one of your bu-bu-bu-bubble posts.
btw - you're, not your
you must have been absent that day.
What they don't understand is after 7 margin hikes it's not the speculators
as much as the investors world wide who is buying the silver. People are lining
up to add some of their stash.
Looks like the front runners of this announcement clipped a whole dime off the price. LOL. Man are they screwed. Look at that volume on SLV. I am sure it is all paper shorts.
Now they can't even get silver to close red on the days they hike margins. They should just hike margins to 100% and be done with it.
easy there tiger. little foreplay she say before "full...

Cramer is now pushing Silver
@jimcramer: Keep Buying Silver! http://ow.ly/4GDi2
Thoughts?
We'll see what the d-bag says tonight.
A broken clock is right twice a day..?
yeh i have a thought. i think i am going to throw up. i can't believe that hack is pushing silver now?
Defcon 1 silve bugs, Defcon 1. I repeat man your stations Defcon 1.
LMFAO
Like I said, if the futures market went to all cash, silver prices would skyrocket. Paper shorts would be run out instantly.
Today, the dollar volume traded on SLV was equal to about 27% of annual silver production. That's about $8.55 billion of SLV traded, compared to 680 million oz. annual production at $46/oz. which is $31.3 billion.
Looks like the HFT bots are going wild on SLV.
LOL.....
Going to be a perfectly smooth unwinding of SLV along the way I am sure! LOL.
yeah, that was hillarious. i'm glad you are laughing out loud.
So, what did you do with the old RobotTrader. Did you finally throw in the towel on silver?
No he's the same guy - always willing to predict the action.. AFTER it takes place..
me too! i have the gift to buy low and sell high!
take it off! take it off! (that would be the 'plunge protection' of course.)
They went wild on Nov 9 also in the midst of 20% haircut this time it's a 40% haircut to $30.
Damn we if we could combine are avatars we wouldn't need any silver.

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Shoppers could soon see higher prices for Pampers diapers, Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels.
Procter & Gamble Co. said Monday it raised U.S. list prices for those products because of rising costs for pulp, oil and gas.
The Cincinnati-based consumer products maker informed retailers of increases last week. Retailers will decide how much of those price increases to pass along to shoppers.
P&G said list prices for Pampers are up 7 percent on average, Pampers wipes up 3 percent, and Charmin and Bounty products up 5 percent. P&G said Luvs, its lower-priced diaper brand, remains unchanged.
Paper products rival Kimberly-Clark Corp. said Monday it will raise prices, after reporting first-quarter net income fell 9 percent on rising costs. P&G reports third-quarter results Thursday.
i thought the price of natural gas was collapsing?
This thing needs a pullback at this point. It will be healthy to consolidate this move a bit before the next run. Even with that news, is only 6% off the high.
49.80 - 46.80 : This IS the pullback ...
and it will last for about 48 hours tops the way things have been running.
I don't think the exchanges raise margin requirements to slow the rise. They raise margins to protect themselves against a decline.
gh
This is just the cover till they try to push it down below $40 after Wednesday's whatever the fuck will be puked out by the chairsatan.
This volatility sure is fun though! Holding the precious is fun too.
Also makes watching cnbs talking heads quality entertainment for the not-so sober moments.
Can you imagine the pain of the silver longs getting locked into a limit down market.
AAAAUUGGhh!! The humanity!!

The answer to the traveling salesperson problem is the traveling salesperson of traveling salespersons.
Think about enterprise architecture from the perspective of the traveling salesman. Efficiency is the shortest path between two points only in a dying system. You want to collect the pieces of your gate system at the greatest benefit/cost at maximum effective risk. Standing in line for scarce resources is not the answer. Those that got out of the portfolio model and into the $US/Canadian, 30 year bond, oil, and then silver as suggested are now way, way ahead of the markets. That’s the past. Now, invest wisely in the future.
Present day tactics are a function of future strategy, which focuses the looking glass over time. Quantum physics nets out time. Clarity is a function of distance. What is the distance on the timeline between yourself and others?
OK, so, I have spent my life on the road, in planes, trains, buses, and autos, exchanging information with all types of people in all types of places. Who is stupid, me for being the homeless guy standing on the side of the road with his thumb out, depending on the kindness of strangers, or the people speeding by the superintendent of global enterprise architects, racing to reach the comfort of their artificially manufactured addictions.? Effectiveness versus efficiency is a short-term/long-term looking glass. Seek clarity and balance before settling into the “reality of any track. Balance, balance, balance, with an exit gate, and direction before speed, always.
The point of the Supreme Court case was to begin cauterizing the Family Law gate system, to begin turning the global IC economy in on itself, as the intent of Family Law was simultaneously exposed across the Internet, creating the necessary positive feedback to weld the parallel in place. Because the legacy sexists cannot admit participation in the ignorance racket, much less correct their behavior, ignorance spread like cancer across the empire and paper profits to hide the fact grew like a virus.
Quantum physics tells you that a counter-force always develops in orbit around such nuclear black holes, with a much smaller, more adroit population serving as the lever on the other side of the virtual fulcrum, in a random distribution relative to the nucleus, to avoid detection and grow the semi-neutral center of the resulting circuit.
The most powerful navy is operated by effective families of necessity, because a real economy requires the associated real durable, durable goods orders to create effective tradable surplus, and the most powerful navy has set the course for millennia due to its ability to contain. The diluted US Navy is now being overwhelmed by Internet activities in a newly minted dimension, which will ultimately result in the navy of the next empire. The kids are going to space, with or without, and the name on the side of the vessel is irrelevant to them.
There are roughly 50 million parents acting randomly relative to the old dimensions, but with a unified mind in the new dimension, developing the navigation system for the new enterprise, collecting the necessary “real estate” for 25 cents on the dollar and investing the rest in required family skill sets. Do you work for Caesar (the computer) or does Caesar work for you?
Empires maximize debt, and we installed all kinds of delay mechanisms / make-work in the US economy to drive the USSR out of business, but the resulting efficient global IC chip economy needed to be replaced with the resulting peace dividend, which never happened because a whole lot of ignorant people got greedy, as they always do, when they saw the potential of the ponzi casino.
Family Law creates the AC empire economic cycle, favoring males when net investment is required and females when net consumption is desirable. Consumption with leverage, Fed monetary expansion w margin control, accelerates the stock market. Women were already being brought into the nexus labor market to leverage immigration, the university compliance HR network system was diluted 100:1, and everyone got make-work jobs, in an unsustainable, disposable, exploitation, scarcity economy, driving wages down, real estate up, and off-shoring the remnants of the real economy to cheap foreign knock-offs of the American Enterprise System, which are now accelerating much faster into the implosion because they have fewer delay mechanisms and exist beneath the reserve currency being floated by the global pyramid scheme called The Imperative.
Legacy is now placing its last bet on pushing monetary policy through Microsoft and Boeing, which are the two dumbest corporations in the system, because they are completely subsidized and controlled by the US Government, which is demonstrably incompetent, each with plenty of programmers, assigned to do what they did yesterday, faster today. If you want to see the affect of misguided and misspent youth over the course of the last two generations, visit downtown Seattle; talk about the blind leading the blind… .The universe is in the business of creating new dimensions faster than the old dimensions may be re-computed, which is why you must forego the past to enter the future, but once you do so you can affect both the present and the past.
If you want to learn to program, get out on the road and gain clarity of purpose first. Critters tend to be lazy, impulsive, and resistive to change. Act accordingly.
Isnt this how the arizona shooter talked? In that incomprensible speech pattern? Not saying you are a shooter or nothing but this is the disorganized speech pattern of someone who needs some medications.

ZH is light years ahead of the coming financial madness.
The CME is a pitiful joke. Pay no attention to those clowns and just BTFD.
Silver will take out $50 soon enough. Then it's Blue Sky...
C'mon, the impact will be felt tomorrow. We all know that. Hope the Asian traders get the memo, and sell off their weekend splurge positions in a panic at a nice loss. I would like to see a nice dip here, to cover my shorts, and start a new long position.
Sure the demise of silver again declared by the sourpusses....and silver is not even negative for the day on the news. Buy it hand over fist, bitchez, margin means nothing to me! You wont have a chance to sell any dip because there wont be one.
Silver will sink like a leaden turd on this news.
Are you Chinese? Ill shoot you in the leg for saying that.
hey forgetful, you were the one complaining earlier today about zh being a 24 hour silver pump site. now i see you posting yet again on a silver thread talking about silver.
you must have made a buck on a put. so you're happy. now it's ok to talk silver. guess you'll complain about zh being a silver pump site if silver goes against you tomorrow.
what a jake leg.
We would just prefer it if ZH pumped when we are long, and dumped when we are short. As it is, there seems to be an irritating non-synchrony between the ZH articles and our positions. We will be looking into this problem shortly.
damn truthy types. always outraged and never actually conspriring. of course "which conspriracy do we prefer?" there are so many. i'm an alien...from Mars actually...myself so "now you know my bias." i recommend you "watch out" because "we're coming for you." i have a particular eye for Maria B myself.

How convenient for the big bank shorters-one day before options expiration. Who runs the COMEX? ohhh yeahhh, I forgot, JP Morgan...
The big buyers are in China not Chiago . The Fascist of Omaha Warren Buffet hs been in Asia telling all their investors not to invest in USD denomated assetts . Probably due to fascist corrupton by criminals like the fore mentioned Fascist WB. More flight from the FEDS attempt to paper over fraud and corruption. Silver bullet will kill the ghoul-like market melt up
This is the top in silver. I agree with Bob Moriarity. http://www.321gold.com/editorials/moriarty/moriarty042511.html
Sell silver and buy gold mining stocks. If you are not a good stock picker, put 50% of your capital in GDX and 50% in GDXJ. The era of gold mining stocks underperforming gold is rapidly coming to an end.
Buying or holding silver now is like playing with fire. I got out of CDE and SLW two weeks ago on Monday.
Bob can go suck a dick as usual... you must be calling for a big rise in the dollar? Sorry, I just dont see it! All FED comments will be dollar destructive, PM's will continue to go up, thats all.
With a name like Moriarty, he HAS to be legit!
Poor Bob is getting absolutely hammered on his short Silver position.
That bitter old arrogant blowhard Moriarty and his endless bashing of silver sounds eerily like Jon Nadler with his incessantly deceitful and idiotic campaign against gold. Both are just demonstrating a very ugly emotionalism and a disingenuous PM-bashing agenda.
If you want to see ugly emotionalism look at your own response and the response of other people who replied before you.
First of all, I am not calling for a rise in the US $. I just agree with Bob that silver has gone up too much, too quickly. Apparently you guys are not even willing to consider the possibility that he may be right. None of you have responded to his arguments. You are just making personal attacks and using pretty abusive language. How intolerant of you.
Firstly, I have seen few if any posters here suggest that silver can NOT drop in the short term --- that is a strawman argument and you know it. Secondly, that is NOT the story that Moriarty has been pumping --- he has been calling for not just a severe correction in the price of silver, but a permanent one. Moreover, he has repeatedly and at times outright savagely attacked, both personally and en masse, the advocates of holding silver, using both insulting and puerile language and arguments that increasingly just make him a laughingstock and a Nadleresque figure of contempt. Nothing that has been said regarding Moriarty here today comes anywhere close to the heated vitriol and rage with which Moriarty has publicly vented his irrational and wildly emotional hatred for the proponents of silver.
Firstly, I have seen few if any posters here suggest that silver can NOT drop in the short term --- that is a strawman argument and you know it.
Sure, most people here agree that it can drop maybe 10% for a few days. But if you suggest that it could drop to low 30s and stagnate for a few months or a year you will be called a troll if not other even more unpleasant names.
I am not familiar with Bob's history of attacking silver bulls. But just because you don't like the man, does not mean he is wrong. So, once again, which of his arguments do you disagree with and why? Do you agree that an asset that has gone parabolic is dangerous to buy?
