The levered assets of the banks in many Euro-sovereign nations easily outstrip those nations' GDP's. So when the nations' banks get in trouble from bad banking practices (and a very large swath have), the nations themselves are helpless in attempting to truly save the banks (and instead only institute a bait and switch wherein private default risk/insolvency potential is swapped for public manifestations of the same).

The rug may about to be pulled out from under the market. The onslaught of contradictory news coming out of Washington is wearing the market down. An exclusive interview with Andrew Horowitz of The Disciplined Investor.

"CNBC - It's Comcastic!" Is NBC About To Be Sold To Comcast?

Tyler Durden's picture

If this most recent report by Bloomberg has any credibility to it, Michele Caruso Cabrera's daily work commute is about to expand to a size 36DD.

Comcast Corp. doesn’t have an agreement to buy NBC Universal Inc., spokeswoman D’Arcy Rudnay said.

In an e-mail, Rudnay declined to comment on a Web site report that Comcast is in discussions with majority owner General Electric Co. on NBC Universal and bankers for both sides met this week.

“While we don’t comment on M&A rumors, the report that Comcast has a deal to purchase NBC Universal is inaccurate,” Rudnay said.

While on any other occasion we would say this kind of non-denial denial is the closest admission of the truth possible, in this case we side with the undecideds. After all, who would be stupid enough to want to buy CNBC....That $35 billion price tag on NBC, that probably consists of $36 billion for everything else and the balance for CNBC.

uhm, yeah, that's pretty much all the commentary we have on this one.

Yeah, I'd have to side with the conspiracy deniers here.  No way the total cost of this deal could cover the IB fees alone, unless it involves some GECC-funded financing of jet engines by Comcast.

At first I wondered about the implications of having the cable company own one of the broadcast nets, but then I remembered that conflicts of interest and uncompetitive practices are apparently okay now.

Wonder how it feels for a network like NBC with it's AAA rated CNBS to be morphed into a kick ball.

It is too late to take this at all seriously. Comcast is smarter than this, I think.

Comcast needs to be busted up. It's headed for trouble.

Results 1 - 10 of about 1,230,000 for comcast billing mistakes. (0.40 seconds)

One awakening at a time.  Great rant.  Limbaugh?  Right wing tool.  The woman?  She seems to realize that the right is not conservative at all and has abandoned her, yet she wants to continue believing in the right.  It is still early in her awakening.  She wants to "vote them all out", but allows Limbaugh to redirect her to getting rid of all the Democrats.

The right is desperate to get in front of the anti-government popular movement, thereby limiting the revolution to redecorating the prison walls on the inside.

Comcrash is a junk operation on the decline, so this is a perfect move by both parties. Just think, they will be able to split screen the cheap Chinese junk on QVC with thebubbleheads on CNBC - as long as their SONET equipment doesn't fail.

Better to wait, get the bundle for the cost of Lehman's operations shop in France then book the 35B in good will.

Rudnay didn't deny it, she just said that the report saying they had a deal was inaccurate, so that leaves the door open for interpretation.

It would be a beautiful site though, Comcast and CNBC go down together in a heap of smoldering rubble.

I almost hate to admit I just visited the CNBC website, but this gem was displayed on their site:  Miss Singapore World Gives Up Her Crown

Apparently she stole some credit cards to go on a lingerie shopping spree.

For this, a just man can forgive.

I suspect Comcast isn't buying NBC for it's profit making potential. It wants NBC because of it's news and programming possibilities.

If Comcast CEO and right winger Stephen Burke get hold of NBC, forget about seeing much more of Olbermann, Schultz and Maddow, and expect to learn in depth all about why we should love and elect the likes of Joe Scarborough and Dick Cheney.
