Co-Founder Of Reaganomics, Paul Craig Roberts, "There Is Probably More Democracy In China Than There Is In The West"

Tyler Durden's picture

Paul Craig Roberts: "The west prides itself that it is the standard for
the world, that it is a democracy. But nowehere do you see democratic
outcomes: not in Greece, not in Ireland, not in the UK, not here, the
outcomes are always to punish the innocent and reward the guilty. And
that's what the Greeks are in the streets, protesting. We see this all
over the west. There is no democracy, there are oligarchies, some of
these smaller European countries are not even run by their own
governments, they are run by Wall Street... There is probably more
democracy in China than there is in the west. Revolution is the only
answer... We are confronted with a curious situation. Throughout the
west we think we have democracy, we hold ourselves up high, we demonize
China, we talk about the mafia state of Russia, we talk about the Arabs
and so on, but where is the democracy here?"

You can sigh or you can do something about it.  Tell people about the oligarchy even if it takes a few times.  Tell them about the oligarchy in things like the Federal Reserve, the banking and financial system, the large media companies, the K street lobbyists.

Many still don't know the truth and there is a lot of work to do to get the word out.  Every little bit helps.

Cornel West can say whatever he likes, but it appears the most he can muster is "I don’t think in good conscience I could tell anybody to vote for Obama."  Come election day Cornel West will shut up and do what he's told to - vote for Obama.  Nothing has changed.

Cornel West sits at the peak of the academic infrastructure in the US that has destroyed the strength and character of the black community over the past decades.  He thoroughly enjoys the trappings of privilege granted to him for his obedient service to brother number one and the system they both serve.  If Cornel West ever found the courage to take the red pill it will result in an admission of his own complicity.  Cornel West is no Stokely Carmichael.

Minister Farrakhan set back the cause of progress when his parishioners assassinated Malcolm X for seeing the light and rejecting the diversion of racism and denying the incarnate divinity of WSM.  Both the NOI and the LDS are going to face some interesting challenges far greater than the philosophical differences between the religions which they are modeled after in the coming US economic cluster fuck.

One of those weird thread connections...

When Janet Reno testified before Congress about the final, fatal assault on the Branch Davidians at Waco, Bono was relentless in his questioning about the professed use of CS gas on the confined men, women, and children:

Representative Sonny Bono (R-CA), a member of the full House Crime Committee, was concerned that Ms. Reno had not conducted a more exhaustive study of CS before making a decision. He challenged her claim that she had done all she could to investigate the attributes and hazards of the substance, noting that the U.S. Army Chemical Research and Development Center had confirmed that it knew of no laboratory studies of CS in which the subjects were children. He pointed out that Army databases "contain virtually every study on CS that has ever been conducted by any government or private facility in the world," and stated that he found it "difficult to understand how, after extensive, exhaustive research you failed to uncover the following information that I uncovered in just one day: a report contained in the Journal of the American Medical Association, dated August 4, 1989, that states, I quote, 'Inhalation and toxicology studies at high levels of CS exposure have demonstrated its ability to cause chemical pneumonitis and fatal pulmonary edema.' According to an ear, nose, and throat surgeon that I talked to, pulmonary edema is caused when the mucous membrane is irritated, it secretes mucous which in children and infants plugs up the bronchi. They thus drown in their own saliva and mucous. As soon as the child breathes the fumes, the process begins. Soon after that, the child has little lungs left to breathe, and dies. I find it impossible to believe that with the most powerful law firm in the country, the Department of Justice, at your disposal you could not find this information out, that I found out in one day with two staff members .... So I am sorry to say, Madam Attorney General, that I think you failed there." He concluded with the observation that, in his opinion, "it is the responsibility of the Attorney General in cases like this to research every bit of evidence, and if there is counter evidence, then the error should be on the side of the children."

David Koresh was evil, the oligarchy used that to bring even more evil upon us.

I know explaining this to people is difficult and sometimes they are resistant to hearing the truth about things.  But don't look at them as "sheeple".  The oligarchy does that, they believe they are better than everyone else.  That dehumanisation is a rationalization to do great evil upon the less fortunate.

There but for the grace of the Creator walk I.

Any of we informed people, could have just as easily been born into the ignorance most of our brothers and sisters are currently enslaved by.

We are all created equal with certain unalienable rights, that is the foundation of the USA.

Spread the truth, talk patiently to your fellow citizen and help them understand.  This is the only way the evil upon us will be defeated.

his statement is correct under the circumstances , when you have a government out of control and not under the rule of law. maybe his wife and child would still be alive. he got set up from the word go on it. it is the time of surrender now. it matters not where it is in the world. one must surrender now. it is the only way to stay alive. saddam hussein should have surrendered. his country would probably still be in one piece. gaddafi should  have surrendered. this beast, that is loose now, cannot be fought. it is too strong, filled with useful idiots who do what they are told without thinking. to stop this, one must  interrupt  this supply of fresh useful idiots.  until this is done nothing will change. fighting it , is  a  stupid option.  also the military industrial complex lives because of conflict.  surrender causes the conflict to die down. with no conflict, the sheep see the military industrial complex as it really is, not about defense, but all about offense. randy weaver was a convenient patsie and he had no idea ( I guess) what he was dealing with. Now he knows. Now he understands. He should have surrrendered. There was no other option.

Do you think they will stop if everyone surrenders?  NO!  They will continue to encamp everyone until they have them in the ovens.  They will decide that the world population needs to be immediately and drastically reduced, and guess what.  You will die anyways, or live a 1984 style of life that is not worth living anyways.

My take is that if one's number comes up early, before major dislocation occurs, you might (you can never know) be better off taking a major jolt of pain, but still be around for the dislocation, with your family, intact. It's a personal gamble because few will stand with you - they would rather watch teevee and not be bothered. Until critical mass is reached we have a waiting game.

Whom does a belief like that help?  It helps those who fear the power of the people.  These are the agents empowered by the founders to transmit our will.

by jewish people, you mean converts to talmudic judaism, correct?  i think the term "jewish people" is not technically correct. Jewish people would signify a people who belonged to the tribe of Judah in the Biblical record. Those people disappeared long ago. Rabbis will say that , well we jews are not evangelistic. but i am here to tell you, that this has not always been the case. I am reading a old , somewhat rare book right now, about the history of a country called Khazaria. It was a nation that during the first millenium, converted in mass, to judaism. These people were the foundation, if you will of the Ashekenzim branch of world jewry. Of course such little facts, are overlooked and I realize we should not talk about such things.

This stupid garbage flies around here all the time.  The US neither hates Arabs nor loves Jews.  Most Americans wouldn't give a shit if all Arabs and Jews wiped each other off the face of the earth.

America loves oil.  Israel is a forward military based located next to the oil wells. It is populated by people encircled by enemies who desparately need powerful friends at any cost.  Allowing the failure of Israel would not appease relations with oil rich Arab states, only take away a key military post.

Thank you TD for this awesome MK+ DPCR interview, which confirms everything I have ever posted here on ZH; a place I feel honored to be allowed to share with you people from the other side of the pond, as a Net surfing foreign visitor that I be.

After the magnificent testimony of Perkins in his series "Financial hit man", now this interview and scathing diatribe of the US oligarchy by the inventor of "Reaganomics" : Dr Paul Craig Robert. He must be squirming in his skin to see how this brave new "supply side scheme" has played out over thirty years. It shows on his honest, sad but determined face as he faces up to history. As did Robert McNamara in that wonderful film "The fog of War" on his involvement in decisions on Vietnam, as well his earlier experience of fire bombing Tokyo during WW2, as strategic staff of Curtis LeMay in charge of air battle.

Can't beat history to reveal, by getting to the bottom of major events, with gems like these interviews. Thanks again.

I used to think Paul Craig Roberts was interesting.  But to compare the complete suppression of free speech and the virtual complete lack of individual rights in china favorably with the USA is nonsense.

Even poets just disappear for days or weeks at a time and police are not required to notify family.  Even the tiniest protest is met with police in the disguise of taxi drivers and cleaning crew.  china is an evil dictatorship.

alright.  perhaps p.c.r. took some poetic license.  concede to your point that the chinese "communist" dictatorship is more "fascist"/"police state" than the u.s. currently.  however it is more than surprising how fast basically bush and obama (though nearly each war brought us lower) turned the u.s. into a proto-orwellian dystopia.  with new laws and legal precedents and newspeak and a department of homeland security and all.

The Bonus Army march was especially notable in that it was Veterans who were getting screwed after having served their country.

And to top it off, the action against them was led by Douglas MacArthur, Dwight Eisenhower and George Patton. All of whom were later lionized as heroes by this country, while their actions against the Vets has been pretty much white washed.

Thankfully for "Mericans" the US govt has recently been too busy making Iraqis, Libyans, Afghanistanis, Vietnamese, Pakistanis, Serbians, Somalians, Panamese, Koreans, Grenadenes, Lebanese and more feel the brunt of the US MIL.

Look back in history though and you'll find the Utah war where the military shut down mormon religious freedom, you'll find the civil war where the US killed over a quarter million Southerners wanting freedom, you'll find a genocide of American Indians and you'd be naive to expect such things to never happen again.

I do not disagree with you that the Chinese government is heinous, to say the least.  I do disagree with you that they are more heinous.  When a monster behaves badly is anyone surprised?  How about when a boy scout master molests the vulnerable..?

For the U.S. to take the descriptors of 'republic', 'defender of liberty', 'land of the free', and so on..  For the propaganda machine that is our schooling system, entrenching the hive mentality into our children; for the MSM to feed us their outright lies and lies of omisssion; to lull the populace into a dreadful complacency.  Our leaders are traitors of the highest caliber, while the Chinese are, well, being Chinese..

The only reason the sheeple have the 'right' to change the government in the USA is because they're stupid.

The moment when a sufficient number of them have woken up to start changing the ponzi, is when their 'right' to change the goverment comes to an abrupt end.

"The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater."

What do you think might happen to people who post negative stuff against the state in china?

Good point, and that is why it fails. When people know they are being censored, silenced, filtered, harrassed, persecuted, jailed for their words, they resist it, without end.

But the spectacular achievement of modern propaganda in the Western world, is to enslave people, when all they while they think they are free!

There are so many ways to deal with serious dissenters in the Western world, that you rarely even have to apply force. You can character assasinate them, begin a tax audit, frame them for a crime (you don't even need to get a conviction, the time, effort and disruption to their lives is often sufficient).

More to the point, when people believe that they are free to speak, they are incredulous at any type of censorship at all, and yet censorship is constantly going on. Even Google, champion of free speech, censors comments on youtube.

You're not getting the news that's been squashed on the major networks.  Check out the youtubes on police brutality in the Pittsburgh G20.

Our rights are dying via the "boil the frog method".  The method implies our rights are being violated in a very slight but increasing manner, to the point where before we realize it, we are in a police state.

We now have TSA at high school proms, AMTRAK, etc. The 4th Amendment is now void.  The President will soon have the power to conduct war abroad and within our own borders.

Our rights are being taken away a little at a time.
